Had the full chipotle chicken crepe for $14. It was alright. Lots of flavor in the chipotle ranch but the contents of the crepe itself was very bland. Like, no-salt-and-pepper kind of bland. morning session finished early and the afternoon class starts late so we have time for lunch!! so it's back to the uptown mall to see a bear about crepes and coffee :-) middling crowd sipping coffee so I mosey up to the counter and ask for a monte cristo and a large drip. turns out them need to make new coffee so I wait a few minutes before getting hollered. biggest problem with fresh coffee is that it is impossible to drink... so I wait bit and my crepe comes up and I wander over to get it and my coffee has cooled enough to sip at while I dine. yea! not really sure exactly what I was expecting from my crepe but in real life a monte cristo is supposed to be a flavor party in every bite... and this just wasn't that. the fruits wasn't bad but the cheese was too little and too thin, the ham was far from hammy or robust. yes it looked all crepey but when you give it someone else's name it ought to resemble that someone else :-\ so yeah, nice location, pleasant staff, good coffee, and a great bear but do yourself a flavor and Count the Monte Cristo out. read more

I'm not a morning person AT ALL, but it doesn't take much to entice me to get out of bed if breakfast at Kagen is involved. The crepes are so wonderful here (definitely try the Monte Cristo!). First time to Kagen Coffee & Crepes and probably my last. Food was good, but service was terrible. They cooked 2/3 of our groups crepes and said the rest would be right out. The rest of our group watched as we nearly finished eating prior to their food being made. However, two other groups of people were served while our group that hadn't received their food had to wait. While watching and waiting for the remainder of our food we got to watch as the staff laughed, goofed around, and played grab ass instead of showing any urgency in competing orders and serving customers. This place is super cute and I always get excited when I find a place that has a vegan crepe option (they are not nearly as prevalent as they should be). When I first arrived I was worried I would have to sit outside as all the socially distanced tables were taken. It wasn't the best day for outside dining, but I was willing to consider it since they have a very large outdoor sidewalk area and I really wanted to try the food. The crepe menu is extensive, with both sweet and savory. The vegan/gluten free option is a 1.50$ surcharge, but that seems reasonable. Crepes come in two sizes. They have both coffee and alcoholic beverages available. In non covid times this looks like a cool place to hang out. I much enjoyed my black bean crepe, which had a healthy serving of avocado and spinach on the inside, coming with salsa on the side. My partner loved his monte cristo. Drip coffee is the same price for any size and is refillable. I also really appreciated that they still had condiments out and available as these are currently hard to find. Visited Kagen for crepes and coffee on a Friday morning. We got 2 different crepes, a sweet with lemon filling and a savory with gravy and bacon in it. The sweet crepe was pretty good nothing more than that and was a VERY small portion, especially for the price. The savory crepe was a better portion size but was also nothing to write home about. The saving grace was the coffee which was on the sweeter side but was great overall. The one other thing that I did not enjoy was that there was food on most of the tables and seats and that may not be the norm but it was noticeable that it wasn't as clean as most places. All in all this was an okay experience but the price of about $30 for 2 crepes and a coffee guarantees I'll be looking elsewhere the next time I go for brunch. read more

We had the lemon strawberry and Nutella crepes. Both were very good. I think the Nutella was the better of the two.

We would visit this place pre-covid and enjoyed the creativity of the monthly crepe specials, the board games available for the kids and adults alike, and the fresh coffee additions. We haven't yet been during these covid times so not sure of the games are still available or the tables are more spaced out. We do enjoy the owner's frequent Facebook/ video interactions to share updates with the place and offerings. My husband and I just had brunch here today, to scope it out as a place to take our littles. We will definitely be back with them (2 and 1). They had high chairs, which is a godsend when you have little ones. All over, the vibe was very cool and hip, while being family-friendly and approachable. The murals in the hall leading to the bathroom were beautiful, as was all the artwork on the walls. There were also board games available to play, and picnic tables outside. I had the iced mocha with coconut syrup, which was fabulous. The coffee was not too sweet, and had great chocolate and coconut flavors. I ordered the southwest crepe and s'mores crepe, both of which were great. The southwest crepe had spinach, avocado, tomatoes, black beans, and salsa. It was great, and I will ask to add cheese next time for even more deliciousness. The s'mores crepe was great, too- gooey marshmallow, melted chocolate, and graham cracker with whipped cream. Both crepes are exactly as described on the menu, and exactly what you would expect them to taste like. My husband ordered the monte cristo crepe and the peanut butter banana crepe. The monte cristo crepe came drizzled with raspberry jam, and my husband said both crepes were "the bees knees." He had the cold brew coffee with raspberry syrup, saying it was very good cold brew. The only criticism I have is that there were no real dishes. Food was served on paper plates, drinks were in plastic cups, and the utensils were plastic. I do think they utensils might have been compostable plastic, though. It's not that big of a deal for us, though, since we typically carry our own utensils, straws, and water/coffee containers with us to avoid single-use plastics.
