BBQ roasted pork & pepperjack loaded fries...not on the menu yet but available for order
    Amanda G.

I don't know why I never knew this place existed, especially so close to home! We were checking out places for delivery, specifically looking for burger joints, and came across Novelty Eats (Novelty Burgers). Since we hadn't ordered from here before, we decided to order in person and takeout so the food could be the freshest and warmest. We lucked out with parking right in front but they're on a small one-way street so you're probably better off parking more underneath the train a bit. There are way more spots from which to choose. When we walked in we were greeted by Socrates, the owner. He said they moved from another location and have been in operation here for about two years. Stay on the look out because they'll be opening a summer beer garden and I'm here for it! He took our orders and informed us about their loaded fries that are not yet on their printed menus but available to order, including Buffalo Chicken, Tex Mex, Italian, Greek, Cheddar/Bacon/Chives/Sour Cream, BBQ Pork/Pepperjack, Cheesesteak and Chili Cheese varieties. We ordered and waited. It didn't take very long. Everything was packed up very well for travel. They're less than 10 minutes from our home so everything was nice and warm, ready to eat. Grub Rundown: Greek In A Blanket - these are yummy. They're mini lamb weiners, stuffed with feta and wrapped in thinly sliced cucumbers. There are six to an order and I could seriously eat these as a meal with a salad or fries/onion rings. They come with their "novelty" sauce but i wish I asked for some of the their spicy feta spread on the side. Filthy Burger - my son got this and liked it. It's a burger with BBQ pulled pork and smoked bacon. Juicy Lucy Burger- hubby got this burger and it was solid, cooked to requested temp. We expected the patty would be stuffed with cheese but it wasn't. He was happy with the burger. Silence Of The Lamb Burger - I ordered this and liked it a lot. It has a spicy feta spread on it which was very tasty. I only wish there was more of it on the burger because it needed the creaminess of that sauce. Onion Rings - I got rings with my burger and they were really good. They weren't too greasy and they were big, actual onion slices with a nice batter. They taste really good good with their house sauces. Kid's Chicken Fingers & Fries - we ordered this for the Little and it came with a side of fries. We kept it simple and got the shoestring fries for her. She liked it. If you order this dine-in, it also comes wuth a juice for the child. Cheesesteak Loaded Fries - hubby ordered these with shoestring fries and a BBQ sauce drizzle. They were definitely loaded. For the price, they're worth it. You get a large serving. BBQ Roasted Pok & Pepperjack Loaded Fries - my son ordered these and they were covered in roasted pork and pepperjack cheese. We asked for a ranch drizzle but that was left off by accident. I think it was better without that drizzle but I would have liked to have it on the side. Oreo Shake - this was made to order and they kept it cold until all of the other food was ready. They packed it well for travel which prevented spilling. It's topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. We'll definitely order from them again. The patties aren't the best we've had (a bit on the dry side) but all of the other flavor additions more than make up for it. I love Greek and the fam loves burgers so this is nice marriage of both. We're happy to have found them and plan to become regulars for when the craving for some greasy comfort food starts to hit. They're a nice addition to the area and I'm sure they'll do very well here. I can't wait to see what they do with the upcoming beer garden.

Trying out a new place to eat while in the Bronx

This place is such a diamond in the rough. The shake of the train being right above you may think it your stomach rumpling. I know I was and everything in this menu was great. With the help from Yelp in finding a place that is good for kids to eat this place offered a great kids menu. We had 4 kids and this place wasn't busy so we had room to all sit down and enjoy our food. They had a great selection of food lots of options, and unique blends. Anything you choose is not a bad option. Plenty of food to satisfy your hunger. I ordered a Gyro and my wife a Sloppy Burger which was a burger topped with BBQ pork and beacon. The kids had great selections for the pickiest eaters and trust mine are hardest to please and they polished the plate. Our waitress was great and very attentive, we loved the service and the food. We were glad we came and I hope that anyone enjoys themselves here.

Came here for date night and I feel like the food was good but nothing to really brag about. They do have a section of the menu for milkshakes but I was too full to try. Deff want to come back for one and dessert though. I will say the portion sizes are really great and the overall experience we had was also great. Our waitress was very sweet and friendly. We started with an onion ring tower. Very Insta-worthy. The onion rings were big, but they were a bit too greasy for me.. but then again.. YOLO. I tried the Santorini Wrap which was grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, feta spread, olives and olive oil. It was good. My husband tried a "Slambdog" which is basically a lamb hotdog. Creative! And they have a few different variations on the menu. Their menu for sure has a large variety, I just wasn't super crazy about the food. Like I mentioned, I do want to return for a milkshake or dessert though!

    Yummy gyro.

I normally call to get my food delivered from Novelty Eats but today I decided to visit and eat in. The food is as good eating in as delivery is. It's absolutely delicious and they package everything so nicely. The decor is beautiful and they are so kind and so attentive. Thank you so much.

According to Jason M. and Pat F.- both had very nice experiences here. So it was just natural to continue this domino effect- and now, it's a party. For Pelham Bay......this is unique alright! Oh-by the way...Crosby Ave. is packed like a muvah- especially Saturday afternoon- so parking on side streets is best. Once you step inside, Novelty's modern design welcomes you- not to mention a subtle scent of food in the air. Speaking of which, ventilation system is very, very good. It's "sit yourself" kinda place- and I liked it- plus service was nice and attentive during our Lunch. Using fresh ingredients and plenty of love, Novelty just looks like heart and soul were put into their menu- because our two meals were tasty. As petite as my Mom is, she packed that 'Shroomalicious Burger' real good. My Veggie Burger with Avocado Cream, Lettuce & Tomato- on Brioche was excellent- (So tasty, I didn't even take a picture). Plus I couldn't resist an 'Extra Chocolate Chocolate Shake' which was creamy and thick. Taking Style and the unique menu into account, I was all in. Plus the instrumental Chill-style Music selection- tied everything together. I seriously feel Novelty upped the ante up in here. Our meals were good and wouldn't mind returning.

I have been in search of a Lamb Burger that I didn't have to prepare myself for sometime. And when I found out from fellow Yelper Jason, that Novelty Eats had recently opened, the first thing I did was peruse the menu. What do you know? They have a Lamb Burger aka Silence when you eat the Lamb Burger topped with Spicy Feta Spread. On my first available opportunity I made it a point to try them out. Walking into their small well decorated space, it instantly read to me as comfortable and inviting. The service is friendly enough and allowed me a moment to hold a brief discussion with the owner about my hunt for a Lamb Burger, and how pleased I was to see it on their menu. The burger was cooked perfectly and served on a Brioche bun. The feta spread was served in a separate to go sauce container, but unfortunately it no longer had the consistency of a spread. It seemed to have liquified from a heat source. Unsure if it was the heat from the other items in my eco-friendly to go bag or maybe it was just that way to begin with. Either way, this slight hiccup did not take away from the flavor experience. The burger plus Feta condiment had that savoriness I have been seeking. To me Lamb Burgers are a novelty that Novelty Eats has fully fulfilled in the Pelham Bay Area. P.S. They're still working out their training kinks and stuff. So try to be patient, as I had to be.

An empty plate of nachos and a bacon cheeseburger with fries

Novelty Eats is a small trendy eatery in the Pelham Bay section of The Bronx with a great menu. The food here is really good. I dined here with a party of 5 (including myself) and we were seated right away. I had the oaxaca square salad which was served in a beautiful bowl, and they were generous with the portion. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. I highly recommend this salad and the other salads sounded good as well. I suggest you go with the build your own nachos option for the appetizer. They were really good and again the portion was generous; enough to feed 5. The rest of my party ordered burgers and wraps to which they stated were really good as well. The food presentation is spectacular. The food not only tastes good but it looks good, and that goes a long way in my book (although a really sloppy burger here and there doesn't hurt). I personally like the newspaper style wrapping on the food and the mason jars for the drinks. The only thing that kept me from giving this 5 stars was the service. They weren't rude or anything, but not attentive enough. Besides our party there was one other patron in the restaurant, and your occasional food delivery personnel coming in and out. We sat with our empty plates and garbage at the table for a period longer than I would've liked. In my opinion there should've been more attentiveness especially since the restaurant was empty. In spite of this I did enjoy my eating experience here and my party and I all agree; that we would come here again. The prices are reasonable and the food was great.

Novelty Eats first came to my attention while scrolling through my Yelp feed - one of my friends posted some tasty pics so my interest was instantly piqued. Upon further examination I quickly discovered this wasn't your average fast-casual spot, so one of my brothers and I decided to head here for lunch so I can check it out myself. Located on Crosby Ave in the heart of Pelham Bay, Novelty Eats isn't large but stands out from neighboring businesses due to its modern signage. That continues inside, where the contemporary aesthetics give the space a fresh look. There are banquettes along the side walls of the restaurant as well as some high top tables. The back wall is completely taken up by the kitchen and ordering counter if you're getting things to go. Since we were staying, we were told to have a seat and someone would be by to take our order. The menu has a lot - apps, salads, wraps, nachos, burgers, soups, and salads (maybe more?). This makes sense since they're in a primarily commercial area and will probably be doing a lot of to-go orders and deliveries. We started with some drinks - I was a little disappointed to discover that they didn't have seltzer since that's my go-to soft drink when dining out, but they have a variety of Coke products as well as Dr. Brown's sodas. Judging from the pics already on Yelp, the burgers looked really good so I directed my attention to that section; the double down chicken burger sounded tasty so I decided on that. The burger consisted of ground chicken and was topped with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and sriracha mayo. The burger was quite tasty - the protein itself wasn't dry, and the flavors worked well. The sriracha mayo wasn't really spicy, and the brioche bun the burger was served on was a smidge too large - but neither bothered me enough to detract from the meal as a whole. The burger came with a side of fries which were nice and crispy. In addition to ketchup, we got "novelty sauce" which my brother concluded had (among other things) ketchup, mayo, and horseradish. Service was good, we were taken care of promptly and everyone was super friendly. Overall, I think Novelty Eats is off to a great start - my burger was tasty and if anything they are bringing a different flair to fast-casual food in Pelham Bay. I would definitely order from here or come back to visit again.

Ordered through GrubHub. Ordered at 4:45 got food at 6:15!!!!!! Ugh and it's COLD, the pizza tastes and looks like old cafeteria food from the 90s, the chicken was soggy and cold. Like, what the fuck kind of food is this!? And I only got 3 old pieces of carrots. Such a disappointment. NEVER EATING OR ORDERING AGAIN

Dope. AF. Great food. Great service. Great milk shakes. I don't like writing long reviews...........

I ordered here a few times since its convenient for me. 1st time ordering, it was very good, hefty portions of fries esp When added as "the works". Second order of burgers were good! Also added their milkshake which we loved. Third order for the burgers were overcooked, unseasoned as well. Fries were soggy, the tacos are a good variety. Slaw was good with the fish tacos. Other than that its ok.

Chicken novelty Nachos w/black bean purée (it was just black beans, not puréed, but it's ok)
    Linh L.

I had Chicken Nachos with black bean purée (it was just black beans but it's ok. It was supposed to come with Guac but didn't have any. I reminded the server and it was brought out promptly. No biggie. I asked the server what's the difference between a certain two sauces for the nachos but she didn't know and didn't ask either. It's ok, they're still training so I understand. They've only been a couple days open. The food & good and prices are reasonable. Very clean seating area and kitchen. Staff was very nice and attentive. We needed something new in this area! I feel like this is going to be my new spot. Understand that they JUST opened on Monday, so of course there are gonna be some kinks they have to knock out but once they get in the groove of things and the servers memorize the menu, this place will run smoothly. I'm rooting for their success!

I placed a delivery order with them on Saturday through Grubhub, after eyeing them for quite a bit on Yelp (I'm new to the area and have been stalking a lot of restaurants on Yelp). I was torn between the chicken and the turkey burger, but after a few minutes of internal struggle settled on the chicken. I had 2 gripes with the burger, one of which was that the patty itself didn't have a ton of flavor, the other was that I had a few bites that included cartilage of sorts (think really unexpected bites into a hard piece of something). I also ordered the angel fries that were slightly mushy for me, but were on point flavor wise - which helped me look past the texture. Rounding out my order was the Oreo milkshake, which was solid but somehow they forgot to pack a straw. Separate from them, I had an issue with Grubhub that didn't allow me to redeem an active offer they had, $7 off of orders for new customers only. I mentioned it in my comments on the Grubhub order but never heard from anyone. I will be ordering from them again, still want to check out that Turkey burger, I'll update my review accordingly. PS the customer service here is phenomenal, shortly after I uploaded my review Steve reached out to me, thanking me and trying to make up for Grubhub's mistake. Thoroughly appreciate it.

Hey do you guys wear mask at all times?

Hello. Yes we do. We also have a protective screen separating the workers from the customers.

    When are they finally opening?

First and most important I want to apologize for such a long wait. Con Edison took a very long time to bring gas into the space. The great news is we will be opening April 15 that’s this coming Monday. Again thank you and looking forward to serving…

There are some dedicated parking spaces that have a three hour limit if dining. Upon arrival, I entered the inside restaurant space for Dakota's on the Grove. It was aesthetically pleasing. I should have sat inside here instead of in their outdoor space which they call The Grove at Dakota's. I was able to choose where I wanted to sit, so I chose a table near this shed where the bartender/waiter was. I noticed they were setting up for the Knicks Game 3 final and there were two large TVs and a projection screen. I overheard the waiter state that the area would be packed for the game tonight. There was also good music playing throughout. They had a large connect four, which would be nice to play. They are family friendly and had high chairs for babies and toddlers. When sitting outside they state that they have to preauthorize your card. Now getting onto the food. I was seated and provided with two menus. I immediately asked for a happy hour menu and then I waited for about 15 minutes, until I followed up with another waiter who brought out the menu for me. For the happy hour menu before I received my food I initially thought the prices were good, but upon receiving my food it was evident that the prices are off in terms of the portion size of the food. I ordered a $5 slider. I thought it would be a decent size. It was incredibly small. For the $5 price they should give at minimum 2 sliders but ideally 3. This would incentivize people to buy more. The slider was the best thing I tasted while there and I would have liked more but I couldn't justify spending another $5 when it was so tiny. The tiny slider appeared to be the portion size for a toddler. I ordered calamari which was $9. I was initially disappointed that there was such a small amount. I was even more disappointed when I tasted them. They tasted very "fishy." They absolutely needed a squeeze of lemon and fresh cracked black pepper to try and balance and mask the taste. I believe the portion size for the fries was also off for $5. The fries came in a teacup. Fries are something that people tend to order to have something to pick at while dining and it would make sense I think to provide more fries for the same price. I also could not justify getting another set of fries in a small teacup for $5. I did not like the taste of the fries. When the sparse calamari, tiny beef slider, and small teacup of fries came out, I realized I would not be full and ordered chicken wings from the happy hour menu. You have to get a minimum of 6. You cannot mix the flavors. They were out of the dockside fire sauce so I went with the garlic parm. These wings did not taste like garlic parm. The garlic parm seemed like an afterthought, which was just sprinkled on the wings at the very end. The chicken itself did not have much flavor. They did not mention providing any dipping sauce. I asked for blue cheese and I had to wait for about ten minutes and then remind another waiter that I was still waiting for my blue cheese. They were out of the mozzarella sticks. Moving onto the drinks. While I get being outside and maybe wanting to serve drinks in plastic to minimize glassware breaking, I did not enjoy being served Pinot Noir in a plastic cup or the white cranberry lemon drop in a plastic cup. Each time I was taken aback that they weren't offered in glassware. I got the $7 Pinot Noir from the happy hour menu. A regular glass of Pinot Noir is $9. I also ordered the white cranberry lemon drop which is priced at $12 and is not included on the happy hour menu. The drink came out in the same sized small plastic cup as the Pinot Noir. I think once again that glassware should be used. When ordering a lemon drop you tend to expect a chilled frosty glass with a sugar rim, and that was not what I received here. I think the sugar rim would have elevated the taste profile of the drink. All in all, I really liked the outdoor area. I would probably only return to get a canned beer in the outside section. I hope they start to carry some sour beer options. I do not see myself trying the food again, with the exception of a burger (since the burger was really good.) I did have an inquiry regarding the pre-authorization charge and the final charge that I saw on my credit card. I called and left a message and the restaurant got back to me quickly, which I really appreciated.

We eat there often, especially for brunch, which is spectacular and consistently better than it has any right to be for a neighborhood spot on City Island. The best example of the attention to detail was the chopped cheese sandwich special. When it arrived, my first thought was: "How is anyone supposed to eat this giant thing?" But then you take a bite and realize the bread was custom made specifically for the sandwich. Somehow it completely melts in your mouth along with the meat and cheese, making this enormous sandwich unexpectedly delicate and perfectly balanced. It's the kind of detail most restaurants would never even think about. Archie's is a true hidden gem and proof that truly exceptional food can exist in places you wouldn't expect.

Now I have a thing when people say "it's just next door" or "it's right down the street." What did George Dubya say? Fool me once and it's shame on you, fool me twice and the shame is mine for getting us into a war based on lies and greed?" Yeah something like that. Anyways, I typically don't believe when people say something is close so whenever I visit her we just order in delivery rather than motivate (ie put on a bra) and go out. But dang it this is literally. Right. Next. Door. As in I can sit on the deck outside of the restaurant and look in her living room. Smh. I say all that to say IVE BEEN MISSING OUT!! Her bday was this weekend so she booked a large table for family and friends. I was relieved to see they had valet. Parking is atrocious in this development so to only pay $10 to be 10 feet from the door was awesome. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the staff know her well and treated her as a valued guest. Here's the rundown: We went for BRUNCH. They have a prix fixe for $41 of most of the brunch items and it includes 2 Bellini, 2 mimosas, or 2 Bloody Marys. Good right? Welp what you don't know is that their cocktail menu is incredible so to heck with the prix fixe. We got mimosas at home!! Between the 10 of us we got cocktails, appetizers, entrees, desserts, coffee. Highlights: -Service was spectacular. Wesley was On It! By the time we finished eating there was another party of 10+ seated right behind us that he was servicing. I hope he enjoys the reward$ of his hard work! Make it rain on em Wesley! -Fat friendly seating. No arms, solid chairs, comfortable cushions. We were there for 4 hours and my booty was never sore. -Food. We tore it up and it was all delicious. My half of the table had the farm house breakfast sando, the fried chicken sando, French omelette, huevo rancheros. We shared the crab hush puppies, wings, calamari, goat cheese salad, and blueberry pancakes. I was nosey and saw that some of my other table mates ordered the skirt steak and eggs and the short rib. -Drinks. I know my husband loves mango so I suggested he get the smoked mango drink. I didn't know it came with theatrics. Dinner and a show?! Btw by the time our table was done almost everyone had ordered one. Lychee martini, Paloma, old fashioned, midnight espresso. Also all very good! -The View. Our party was too large to sit outside but we did sit right at the floor to ceiling windows. In between birthday wishes and food comas we watched the boats, jet skis, and undulating waves of the Hudson. Previous posters are correct - the place is pricey. But high key the people who live in that area are already paying a premium for everything else sooooo. Now, I DONT live in that area lmao so this will be a rarer treat for me. But I was happy to celebrate my cousin's birthday in a place that she loves. Awesome experience - I look forward to returning! 10/10 would put on a bra for this and walk downstairs lol

I guess my wife liked her meal. Pasta? Chicken? Chicken pasta? Whatevs, it wasn't steak, so no matter. We're still married.

I got fried chicken wings and pork fried rice-- a staple and a great barometer. The chicken was fried to perfection and looked good to the eye, the crunch was excellent, but the flavor was no where to be found. Zero seasoning. Is this how it is all the time, or was this a glitch?? Sadly, I will never know because this was a one and done. The rice was good, it saved the day. They also leave the sauces out for you to take as many as you need--maybe I should have taken that as a hint.

Drove through NY and needed a quick bite to eat and started looking at Chinese food restaurants…read more This place had one of the highest ratings and I can see why! The food was done within 15-20 minutes and we loved everything we ordered. Everything tasted authentically Cantonese, not spiced or super flavorful. Just your basic, comfort food. Exactly what we needed on our drive home. This place is located in an okay neighborhood area, but we didn't have time to sit down and eat. There's limited seating. We saw a lot of people waiting for takeout. The food was so hot and tasty when we picked it up. We got: BEEF TERIYAKI STICKS So tasty, cooked well with a slight char to it and seasoned enough to give it flavor, but nothing overwhelming. CRAB RANGOON These were so crispy and creamy, so freaking good with lots of crab and cream cheese with every bite. FRIED CHICKEN WINGS These chicken wings were GOOOOD! Perfectly fried crispy outside and juicy chicken inside. The flavoring of the outside was very flavorful and made every bite so satisfying. Wish we got an additional order! SAUTÉED STRING BEANS This is a comfort food for me, just your basic green beans sautéed in super light soy sauce and garlic. YUMMMM! BEEF CHOW FUN Another comfort food of stir fried beef and bean sprouts. So tasty and the rice noodles were perfectly fried and chewy. PORK FRIED RICE This pork fried rice was super tasty, but different. The rice was more pilaf which I absolutely loved and there was so much barbecued pork in it. Wasn't saturated in soy sauce which is how it normally comes, a really light and tasty fried rice. HOT & SOUR SOUP I love hot and sour soup and this was sooo good. It wasn't too sour, flavored and spiced just enough to check all the boxes and left me wanting another bowl full! Spent over $50 and got a free 2-Liter soda too! Will definitely stop by this place again on my future drives through or to NY!!!

While waiting, I sipped on a Cinnamon Maple Latte, which was bold and strong, as well as heavy on the cinnamon, but could have used more maple and sweetness. My friend and I shared the Bread and Cornbread Basket, served warm with raspberry preserve jam and butter. The Bread was perfectly baked, fluffy, and well seasoned. Cornbread was glazed, giving it a slightly sweet taste, as well as crumbly in a good way. The butter made the breads richer, while the raspberry jam added a nice layer of flavor. For my meal, I ordered the Steak and Eggs, adding Truffle Fries, which were an additional $5. This also came with a small side salad topped with radishes. The Steak was tender, wonderfully juicy, and flavorful. Eggs were cooked over hard, just how I like them and made expertly. Truffle fries had a generous sprinkling of Parmesan and were delightfully crispy, with strong truffle yumminess. Salad gave a fresh element to the dish. Service was lovely. Our waitress was friendly and everything came out in a timely manner. Prices were decent. I would consider returning for dinner to try the Short Rib or Brisket Mac & Cheese.
