I'm disappointed in our experience. A group of four, we each had a soup and 2 drinks. Lobster bisque was tasty but only 3 bites of lobster. French onion soup was ok. Halibut special was not with $44 as the vegetables were nice but the fish was not seasoned and almost tasteless. Fish and chips: Fish was actually very good but the fries were not. Two people in our party got them and both hated the fries. Chicken satay had no peanut sauce at all, just a hot chili sauce. For desert, lava cake apparently good but the apple crisp wasn't crisp at all, just a mushy oatmeal covering over cooked apples. A sad end to a meal that cost almost $360. Won't be back. read more

Came in for a birthday dinner on New Year's day. The place was pleasantly empty- just one table finishing up, and some folks at the bar. Service was therefore fast and attentive. Drinks came out pretty quickly and were kept full throughout the meal. We ordered the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (they happily subbed out the greens for brussels) and the Long Island duck. Both were decent portion sizes (I took half of the chicken home for lunch the next day) and tasted very good. We were full by the time it came to dessert, so we didn't order anything, but menu looked tempting. While we were there we saw a ton of take-out orders being picked up, so obviously a local favorite. If we lived closer would definitely get take out from here as well. read more

I stopped in with a friend for lunch. It's a small establishment with an inviting atmosphere. Our waitress was upbeat and friendly and she did make recommendations when we asked her. They have a really good menu. We both decided on the fish and chips. They serve cod fish which was deep fried, so it was crunchy on the outside and moist and flaky on the inside. It included two dipping sauces: vinegar and a saffron aioli. My fave was the aioli. Saffron is my favorite spice and you could taste it and it was delicious. We shared three scoops of their homemade ice cream, pistachio, coffee toffee and chocolate. They were all delicious. I would definitely go back. read more

The high ceilings in this place make the restaurant feel open while still managing to be intimate. We went the other night for date night. For apps we got the lobster Mac and the lobster spring roll. The springroll was a pass for me. Bland and not a lot of lobster and a little pricy for one roll. The Mac also could've used a little more lobster but the cheese sauce was warm gooey. For entree we got the veal shank and the branzino. The veal was velvety and fell right off the bone. My branzino was definitely tasty but nothing amazing, they did a good job deboning. It came with broccolini my favorite veggie side and that I will say, was cooked perfectly. Our server was the sweetest and really added to the experience. The cocktails were okay. My first time at The Wild Goose. I was a single diner with a reservation. Cozy and comfortable, I was impressed initially. However, the hostess was not welcoming at all...and she was curt when my request to be seated by the window was denied. My table was in the rear next to the exit from the kitchen. The Negroni cocktail was wonderful, so I was enthusiastic again. My order was for the ginger chicken, with roasted baby bok choy and rice. The portions were generous but I was terribly disappointed in the chicken, which was bland, on the dry side and there was no trace whatsoever of ginger. Since I had concert tickets after dinner, I mentioned this to the waiter upon getting my check. I asked him to advise the chef that my meal was not prepared as stated, and he apologized. Very cool spot in town! Was a very nice surprise to have a solid meal so close to closing. Everything was delicious but my take home order of their gnocchi dish was...interesting...I guess because they were at close to closing the kitchen they didn't have enough gnocchi to fill the dish so a different type of pasta was added with very little gnocchi... I'm going to chalk it up to being 20 min till kitchen closed this night. Our server was really fantastic and we learned he's been working for this owner for a while and also suggested the other eateries as well but what I liked was that he really knew the menu here. I didn't get a generic "this is popular on the menu" when I asked for suggestions, he gave me choices he personally liked and what made the dish worth trying. Space is very inviting and pretty and definitely a good spot to rent out for a dinner or cocktail event. Returned for another great meal. I had the little neck clams w pasta snd shrimp and the crab cake. The crab cake had a bit more filler this time :/ The chicken crisp wrap was okay but the fries were so crispy and soft inside. My whisky sour was served in a tumbler which was kinda odd. Again they missed on the dessert. The cheesecake had an overly sweet bottom layer and the cheesecake was a bit grainy. Not smooth and a bit too sweet. I think their desserts need a revamp. read more

Outstanding restaurant! The food is fantastic, and the service is impeccable. The bar service was fabulous: my gin and tonic was perfect, and my husband loved his Bacardi and Coke. As I sit here enjoying a delicious meal at the local pizza joint, I thought it'd be a great opportunity to share my experience at the Wild Goose from about 15 min ago (or at least 15 min as of the time I start writing this). As soon as I walked in for my Friday night reservation, I could immediately tell it was a busy night as Friday nights usually are. What wasn't evident until a few min was the fact they were short staffed with FOH operating with 1 server, a bar tender and the "manager". Having been in each of those employees' roles in a prior life, I wasn't going to let it ruin the evening especially having had a great overall experience during my last dining experience there. We ordered apps, drinks, and entrees all in one shot when greeted by the server at least 15 min after being seated which, like I mentioned, wasn't going to get me down. Drinks came out, apps came out and all was good. I could overlook the bread that "will be right out" was dropped after drinks and apps and I had to stare people down for a second drink with my glass of ice on the table. Finally, entrees come out and look good. I also modified my dish and they got the modifications right. The only issue was my medium filet came out well done and I had to wave down the server to get her attention after she attended to a few other tables and reset another one for guests at the crowded host stand. I let her know the steak came out well done and her only form of acknowledgement was grabbing the plate and walking it back to the kitchen; that's correct, no verbal acknowledgement. Again, fine - she's dependent on the kitchen, it's out of her control. I wait around 10-15 min as they re-fire the dish while my dinner guest enjoyed her meal before it gets cold. And moment of truth...medium rare. I wait a few min until I can flag someone down and let the server know. She takes the plate and informs me that she's going to get her manager who was apologetic, so kudos to her since that was definitely an area of opportunity for the server. However, after the apology she asks if I'd like to order anything else to which I respond no as I'm not inclined to wait any longer for a meal. And, for some reason, she asks if I'd like dessert. I had to bite my tongue because my gut response would've been what I'd really like is a proper dinner. I asked for the check and just wanted to get out of there to find another place to grab some food after about 90 min without a proper meal and ultimately had to go wait at the POS system with the check and my card in hand to be able to get out of there because flagging anyone down wasn't working. Ended up paying for the appetizer and first round of drinks, although I would have 1000% comped the entire meal in that situation had I had a guest have a similar experience and then done whatever I could to take care of the server. Granted, she could have also handled it better, but ultimately it was a kitchen issue. And I know I'd hate if someone were to tell me how to do my job, but that's just my two cents after also having done the job. read more

Fantastic restaurant! They were swamped unexpectedly, when we went for lunch and there was only one person working. She was pleasant and very attentive, and never gave an attitude. There are not many who'd handle this like that ! The food was incredible. I got the mussels and crab cake. The sauce of the mussels was so amazing, I practically cleaned my plate with bread. Decided to go with The Wild Goose for dinner date tonight in Port, Exterior Dining, and have a run down of that experience, a few things to note. The place is on Main Street, a lot of foot traffic going on, and people will be people as they walk by, there really isn't space between the tables and the sidewalk. A good majority of people walking by had masks on, but then there was an amount of people that didn't in passing, so I would turn my head to be away from them the best that I could, the tables were closest to the restaurant as possible so that's something you'll have to deal with if you choose exterior dining. The service and food itself was great. Friendly staff, inviting, courteous, knowledgable and professional, from the hostess to bartender to server. We got the Burrata as an app, which was fresh and delicious. I got the Skirt Steak with Mashed Potatoes and Brussel Sprouts, very flavorful, cooked nicely, a little salty but nothing too bad, great flavor. She got the salmon which she enjoyed, pretty good on her end. Nothing to write home about but very delicious. The restaurant itself can't do anything about the foot traffic really, it's on Main Street so it comes with the territory. Very good choice, I recommend! read more

Went for Friday lunch. Street parking is tough in this neighborhood. Nice ambiance. One waitress was taking care of everything but the kitchen, and she was trying l, but could've used help. Ordered dried calamari; it was served with a little spicy marinara sauce which added a little bit to an otherwise just-okay dish. Mussels in white sauce were superb (too bad bread wasn't ready in time to sop ip delicious sauce). Burger was okay; lobster mac and cheese good. Expensive: $100 for two. Needs improvement read more

Please, please, please let Chef and everyone know their praises were sung LOUD last night. We fed 32 kids and 10 adults with 4 people stopping by this morning for the rice. Had maybe 2 pieces of chicken. A scoop of penne and some rice left over. The short rib quesadillas were literally vaporized, gone in 20 seconds and the server was nearly injured. It was frightening. Lobster spring rolls -- delicious. Again -- please let Chef and everyone who chopped, shopped, prepped, cooked, packed and added the love into the food that we appreciated every morsel of everyone's time!!! It was outrageously good!! Small venue. Crowded tables squeezed in the location. Very loud. Nice size bar. Friendly hostess. The waitress I had was just ok. Not really friendly, forgot a few items and really never checked back on the table. BUT, the food was great ! We went on a Saturday so it was at the maximum capacity. Probably would return on a different evening. Definitely make reservations or you are not getting in. We had the second seating and were not rushed. I would only guess that if you have the early seating, they want the table for the next reservation. I had the lobster capellini and wow, delicious. Pasta was cooked perfectly, plenty of lobster and the sauce was outstanding. The bolognese also delicious. Duck also looked good. You must try the pigs in a blanket --- so good. The food here is excellent. Try the Buttermilk Fried Chicken which has tremendous flavor. I was not much a fan of the Parpadelle Bolognese but that is just a preference since I was cutting back on red meat. The Parpadelle was cooked perfectly and with the right amount of sauce. We originally ordered the Boneless Chicken Scarpariello, but something must have happened to confuse the order. The sides we chose were amazing as well. I had the Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes while my buddy had the vegetable rice and sauteed spinach. The Brussels sprouts were prepared perfectly in my mouth and the mash potatoes were puried excellently. I could not get enough of either one. The sauteed spinach were fresh and were not overcooked. The meals also came with Ceasars Salad, biscotti and biscuits . If you drove by The Wild Goose, you need to stop, park and dine here. What a great experience. The food, the service, and the cocktails were all first class. We had the Sweet corn soup that was outstanding and I had the veal chop with gnocchi and a red wine reduction that was delicious. My wife had a fish with risotto that was also delicious. The Wild Goose is a cute spot across front the Port Washington train station. The decor is modern and staff was friendly. The food was pretty good, although the lobster mac and cheese was bland and not very cheesy. Its a great date spot or place to meet up with a friend or two. RECOMMENDED On February 9, 2020, I attended a group dinner at The Wild Goose. This is a restaurant dense area of Port Washington. Parking is difficult. So I felt relieved when I snagged a spot way down the block west of the restaurant. Upon my arrival, no one was tending bar, probably because everyone was preoccupied by a large function which was winding down, but what's a 5-10 minute wait for the nice Stoli Martini that I received. The restaurant seated our group promptly. Service was good the entire evening. I started with the Burrata app. It was appropriately creamy, fresh and flavorful. I followed up with the Roast Amish Chicken. It was good. The skin had a nice texture. I concluded my meal with a decadent and yummy Creme Brulee. My companions enjoyed the French Onion Soup, the Lobster Bisque, the Pigs in the Blanket, the Arugula & Fennel Salad, the Grilled Mediterranean Bronzino and the Ginger Marinated chicken Breast. Our group was pretty satisfied by our meal at The Wild Goose. BOTTOM LINE: The Wild Goose is one of the better gastropubs in Nassau County. read more

One of my favorite restaurants anywhere, great service, great food, friendly people at the bar

This was my first visit and I regret not visiting sooner. The food was exceptionally good. The corn chowder, steak au poivre, rib eye, and lobster salad, as well as the home made coffee ice cream were excellent. The service was on point: friendly, efficient and not overbearing. The ambience is bistro like with high ceilings, brick walls and low lighting. The brick makes the room a bit noisy but it's bearable. Would I go again? Absolutely!!! read more

After all that time and your serving me a cold entree. Octopus appetizer was minuscule octopus but they made up with it by making the dish look full with yellow peppers and red peppers, terrible.
