Such a cool place. I can't believe I hadn't been here before. I have passed by this spot so many times, and I finally went in. You can sit and drink at the bar, or you can stop by and take beer to go. I loved the atmosphere and environment here. There was plenty of bar seating available to patrons. I came on a week day evening and there were lots of people here. But, it wasn't too loud. It was a relaxing spot. I would definitely come back here again.

Nice place to come and chill. Great selection of microbrews and ciders. Open patio if you like some Sun. Staff was really friendly No food served or other alcohol. Once they do that this place will be booming.

Great place for beer. Good for groups as well. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. You can even bring your pup with you! There are beers on draft and tonsssssss of beer in cans. There's a whole book of all the beer cans available. Always a good place to go to to chill and hang out while grabbing some beers. $11 flight for 4 4oz pours $7 for an 8oz pour

$13.50 for this 6 pack! It's a local brewery. The prices are outrageous in the "later" section. FYI, Wegmans is right around the corner.

Just like everyone else, I thought this bar was going to be the chillest bar on Tipp Hill. I grew up in Syracuse and look forward to coming back to my favorite spots in my hometown. I was looking forward to adding this to that list but I can't. The bar looks very inviting from the outside and seems to be a popular spot most of the time. The beer selection and presentation is quite impressive. I love dark beers (Stouts, porters, etc.) and hoppy beers so I was like a kid in a candy store to see such variety! Now, like other reviewers have mentioned, the bartenders are not the down to earth people you'd assume them to be (at least not the guy that served my party). I had a beer or two in mind that I was going to order but asked the bartender what beers were on tap to ensure that I didn't want to try one of those instead. His response: "Just some local beers. You wouldn't recognize any of them." How insulting and presumptive! So of course I inquired further and still he was so dismissive. Just a little tip: a good bartender will have knowledge of the beers he/she is serving and will use adjectives so the customer can decide whether it is something that sounds appealing. After having a couple beers, I decided to go to the "later" section and buy a 6 pack to enjoy at home that week. Wowza! I couldn't find one 6 pack under $12!! I understand they are a small business but they are really price gouging your customers. There are way too many great bars in Syracuse to return to this one.

We were trying to find someplace to go to have a drink and enjoy the day, granted it was Memorial Day and many places were closed in our usually Armory Square location. We decided to drive to the west and this is what we came upon. It was open and perfect since we had wanted to try this place. Being fans of craft beer this place did not disappoint. Small selection of taps and a very large selection of bottled beer. We both started with beers that were on tap. The Uinta Tangerine Hop Nosh IPA, from Salt Lake City, Utah had a great tangerine flavor. Can't remember the name of the draft that BF ordered but it was a good choice. We then decided to try a couple of the bottle choices which included the Great South Bay Tangerine Pale Ale, Sierra Nevada Torpedo, Lost Coast Tangerine, and Southern Tier IPA. Great beer choice and will definitely come back to try some more. This place has a great outdoor patio with really nice patio furniture. Like how the front has a roll up window so even if your setting inside you still get some fresh air.

    Rotating tap list.

This family-owned store/pub combo that replaced Brilbeck's in Tipp Hill fills a void in the burgeoning Syracuse craft beer scene. Been here three times and there always seems to be a nice mix of seasonal and favorites on tap (including an 8 oz pour of Old Rasputin for $3) and an impressive bottle menu. The new decor is attractive and practical, complete with a soon-to-be-open walk-in cooler for shoppers and garage doors that open to a stone patio in the warmer months. Update (April 2016): kind of bummed to see all harsh reviews on here but I did curb my enthusiasm a bit after 4 visits. Although they are getting some exclusive beers on tap, the prices are kind of a drag for the volume. In fact, I have hesitated to check out the cooler area because of this. Also, it has been too crowded/loud a few of the weekend evenings I've dropped by (8-10ish). Still, I'm looking forward to trying both sides this spring as the weather improves. Another update (July 2016): on my last visit here I realized that the $4 bottles and cans menu is where it's at. Lots of good stuff there and easier on the wallet. Plus now that's it's hot out the patio/garage door makes this a great place to sip in the summertime.

Great location on a corner for tons of people watching. Indoor / outdoor seating. Great selection. Cool vibe.

    Love the tap handles!

When I saw an espresso martini and cake pairing, I knew I had to pull the trigger. Met up with some friends and we all ordered food beforehand to offset the impending sugar rush. I'd had their naan pizza in the past and loved it, so this time I went with the one that had caramelized onions and goat cheese. AMAZING. Crispy crust, melty cheese, tangy onions and the perfect amount of everything in every bite. Then onto the main event: the flights! The staff brought over our cake and drinks and were so great about explaining what to pair together. (There was also a card) Desserts were a carrot cake with the most impossibly airy icing, a pistachio cheesecake with chocolate ganache, and a chocolate cake with a light nutella icing. I'm usually a carrot cake girlie and while I enjoyed it, the cheesecake was actually my favorite. Just the perfect pistachio flavor and a wonderful consistency -- so, so smooth. Our waitress told us that the owner is the one that makes all of the desserts too. A multi-talented queen. As far as the martinis, my favorite was the affogato one. These flight-nights are one-off events and the items aren't normally on the menu, so if you see one that looks extra appealing, get yourself there! I've been for normal service too though, and honestly, never have had a misfire here. One thing I especially love is the option to order drinks in 5oz pours, a godsend for lightweights like me. Ambiance, food, drinks, all excellent.

Another outstanding meal at my favorite syracuse restaurant…read more Enjoyed some time this Friday with special people as we sat and enjoyed an exquisite dining out. I was the only returning patron, the others much enjoyed their first time here. Walking through the front door you're instantly hit with a wonderful smell of food cooking over an open fire. Got a terrific table to look out the window and enjoyed a nice evening view. Took full advantage of every food meal course available. Started out with their evening appetizer of homemade bread with cinnamon butter. Each of us got our own dinner choice along with small plates to start. The two small plates were green lentil salad and ember roasted carrots. Both of them with their unique flavor and style. The green lentil salad featured heirlooms. The ember roasted carrots featured labrieth, doqqa, and maple syrup. Keep in mind everything here comes from local farms and local breweries and distilleries. Big fan of supporting the state and local community. Fantastic! They feature only a few main entrées, tonight's included halibut, steak, chicken, and sea Island peas with jasmine rice. Knowing how well seasoned their steaks are, I went with a filet mignon 10 ounce. Probably a little more than I should've gotten, but I very rarely eat steak and know how well and good they are here. Ordered the steak medium to medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering delicious. Along with the steak includes mashed potatoes, chimichurri, kale, and. crème fraiche. Every bite was outstanding. One of us got ice cream for dessert which she said was very good. The ice cream was made right there at the restaurant. We kicked off the dinner with a rum cocktail and a tequila cocktail. All spirits locally sourced. If you haven't tried it here yet you should. You will not be disappointed.

We were promptly seated and ordered glasses of wine while perusing the menu, which is on the smaller side. That usually means everything on it is rather good, so we had high expectations. We started with the Mushroom Toast, Ember Roasted Carrots, and Beef Tartar. I'll start with the bad and finish with the good. The Ember Roasted Carrots were a complete miss. They were trying to go for a middle-eastern flavor, with each ingredient contrasting, while the carrot served as the centerpiece to flavor. I found this to be INCREDIBLY bland. The carrots were not salted enough during roasting and lacked enough char. They dish also needed more labneh than it was served with. It literally just tasted like carrots and yoghurt. Honestly, if I could only give one critique it would be to have used more salt, but this dish was a real disappointment. The Beef Tartar suffered from a similar issue. It was bland. Not enough salt was used. It unfortunately tastes like flat beef. I overheard the bartender talking to another couple and he told them they really want to highlight the ingredients. The idea is purity or something like that. And that's well and good, but you still need to season beef tartar. I don't think this is necessarily a poor execution of the dish(es) rather this is more in line with the philosophy of the kitchen, and that's fine. It's just not for me. And now for the good. The Mushroom Toast was great. It had all the things I had wanted. Fat, salt, umami, freshness. This was a good dish and I would get this again. As for the entrees, my husband and I ordered the Cappelletti and the NY Strip. The Cappelleti was the strongest dish of the night. The flavors were layered and intentional. This was a great dish and I1000% would get it again. My husband ordered the NY Strip along with bone marrow. It was cooked to perfection. Cooking it over a wood fire gave it a great char and almost Smokey flavor. It was very flavorful. The chimichurri made the steak feel lighter than it actually was. My husband loved it and I loved having a bite or two of everything together. This was a complete dish and I'd highly recommend it. The only knock I could give it is the bone marrow. There was a lack of volume in it which is probably due to being cooked over a wood fire. Parts of the bones were also over roasted. I'd skip this the next time and get the foie gras pate. Lastly, for desert we were disappointed that we could not try the rice pudding as they were out of it (we will try it the next time if available). We did however order the Flourless Chocolate Torte to share. It was made perfectly. It was rich and decadent but remained light. It was almost like a mousse, but not quite. We loved it. Overall, the had a great time. There were several highlights and I think they make up for the a couple of the earlier dishes. I'd like to see what else they have to offer when they change their menu.

For drinks they have a good selection of beers on tap, usually 10-20, from local and national breweries. The server offered me a sample before I fully committed on a beer I had a question about and I appreciated being able to try it before committing to a full glass. The Evergreen's menu itself is accessed through a QR code where their full list of options and specials are listed. My group opted to share the beer fries and they were taaaasty, pillowy soft, crunchy, and amazingly well seasoned. The vegetarian options are a regular part of the restaurant and the fried tofu I had was genuinely satisfying and well done. My cajun pasta was maybe a touch over but I was okay with it since it had my condiment obsession of chili crisp in it. The menu is well marked for dietary needs. A great thing of note is that they have women's, men's, AND an all-gender bathroom. I appreciate the inclusion in the food and restaurant itself. Car parking is street parking, it's accessible via the Centro bus system, and there is an artistic broken-chain shaoed bike rack just across the street from the restaurant. My partner and I chose to split the herb fries, burnt end chicharrones, and the brussels. I thought the herb fries were delightfully crisp with great flavor. The sweet & spicy smokey sauce that was provided with it was a bit tangy. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me! You'll definitely have to taste it for yourself. The burnt end chicharrones left more to be desired. Both my partner and I thought they were dry and not tender. Also, there was something about the flavor that we did not care for. I absolutely love burnt ends from BBQ joints, and this was the first time we've ordered chicharrones so I don't have something to compare them to, but I'd suggest trying them elsewhere. As for the brussels, when we first got to the restaurant our friends were sharing them. We tried one bite and knew we had order a whole plate for ourselves! They were literally the best brussel sprouts we've ever had. The roasted garlic aioli and grana cheese were topped on perfectly cooked brussels which I would go back for. I highly suggest checking out The Evergreen, go through their beer menu, and find a new favorite plate.
