This is a great brewery. It's super roomy inside, and there's a lot of space outside if the weather behaves. They have their own food trailer now, and from what I've tried the food is pretty tasty. The beers are great, but my go-to is their leaf hard seltzers. The dragonberry is my favorite - tangy and so refreshing in the summer (or anytime.) Staff is great. TL;DR: Highly recommended. Will definitely repeat. **Ambiance** Charming and spacious microbrewery with a great selection of beers. Now they also have a food truck on premise. Clean and uncluttered floor space with square wooden picnic tables, which are custom-built to gather around good beer with good company. **Staff & Service** I have been to this place multiple times, and every time, the bar staff has been super friendly and helpful. **Beer** They have a rotation selection of draft beers. Additional beers are also available in cans. The thing that sets them apart is that they offer a choice of up to 6 beer flights (pic attached). So you can really explore what you like. We were a party of four and each got a flight of 6 and we pretty much sampled the entire menu! It was a lot of fun! My all-time favorite at their location is the DDH IPA (called DDH Lies) **Food** I have been coming here before the food truck was coming here, and I am really enjoying the convenience of the food truck at this location. Hidden gem. Located in an industrial park, this is a huge brewhouse with picnic tables, a separate bar area, and even some games. Very dog friendly. When I visited, there were three dogs all behaving. The space is well heated, and welcome in the winter. My only wish is that they had food available. This was my first visit since the "end" of the pandemic. They've redone the inside with smaller picnic tables and have picnic tables outside too. Lots of room for people to sit comfortably. Having a brewery in this area of Syracuse was a much needed addition. It is a family friendly, almost family ENCOURAGED brewery, they hold tons of events, food truck rodeos with live music and always have the latest games on for viewing. There is a restaurant right next door, incase you need food. They also encourage you to doordash or grubhub your own delivery if you need it. Their beer, which is constantly rotating, is some of my personal favorite in Syracuse and they even have an amazing rotation of hard seltzers. My favorites are their seasonal sours. They're perfect for a hot summer day, but they also have an amazing brown ale for a cooler winter day. This brewery will always be my favorite in upstate New York and that's not something I say lightly. If you haven't been here yet I highly recommend you stop in, meet the owners and have a beer or two. read more

What a cute little brewery in the middle of no where! This place is so secluded and off the beaten path that I had no idea it was even here even though I practically life next door to it in the nearby apartments. They have lots going on during the summer, with collaborations with food trucks. I went here for trivia on a Wednesday at 7pm. It's not the best place for trivia because the space is so large so the sound doesn't carry very well. Additionally, our team of 7 ended up having to squeeze onto a pew on the outskirts of the seating area, so we couldn't even really play trivia together. The beers were good. Lots of variety. The beers were fairly cheap and I love how uniquely they are presented in a muffin tray. Haven't ever seen that before. Definitely made it a lot easier to carry all the tasters. I also enjoyed how that had so many different size options for drinks. There was a little shot size, a taster size, and then larger mugs. I love the aesthetics of the the cups too! Even though this place is in the middle of no where and doesn't offer any in house food, it is definitely a neat little place to check out for beers. read more

Whether you're coming here for trivia, to watch an SU game, to work on your cornhole skills, to work on a group assignment, or just to drink some local beer you can't go wrong with Willow Rock. I'm a little mad my friend Paul hadn't told me about this place sooner, but I've enjoyed coming here the past 3 years. They're pretty awesome people here and they usually have a container of pretzels. I would recommend pairing the pretzels with the Half in the Bag IPA. The pretzelness of the pretzels really compliments the IPAness of the beer. This probably does not count for much, but I'd like to officially announce that I am awarding Willow Rock with the "Gino's favorite brewery in Syracuse Award". One time I got a growler from here, then went fishing on Lake George. Caught some fish and drank the beer, would highly recommend doing this at some point in your life. read more

Paid Willow Rock a visit on a recent Friday night in the Cuse. Been anxious to try these guys out for over a year as I have heard many good things about them. Followed them on FB and saw that they had the Bold Coast Lobster Company Food Truck in their parking lot- which made it even more enticing I go. For the untrained eye, their brewery might be a little difficult to locate at first. However, it's easy to find right off of 481 and adjacent to the recently reopened Danzer's restaurant(which could be an extra incentive should there not be a food truck on the day/night you visit). It's on the backside of Skytop- on your way to/from a Syracuse U. game. Plenty of ample parking on both sides of the brewery with tables both inside and out. We did notice some folks had brought their own camping chairs and set up shop in the lot next to the food truck. Inside you'll find a fairly large seating area with picnic tables, bench seating, foosball tables, cornhole and several TVs. The brewing area is in full view and let's the visitor take in the wizardry and artistry that goes into the craft making process. The bar area is interestingly enough enclosed in a glassed in area- with additional TVs and seating. The owners were on site and behind the bar and graciously offering free samples to those unsure of what they wanted. They also offer a variety of guest beers-wines-ciders and sodas. This was awesome as we brought our teen son who knocked back a few Saranac sodas while he was there. BTW- Willow Rock is kid/family friendly which seems to be a growing trend in the industry. Speaking of beer- Had the Brunch Coffee Stout- and gd- that was some of the finest breakfast stout I have ever had! Also sampled the Rugged Scotch Ale and the Jim Brown Ale(also both delicious). It was a great evening, with good friends and great beer. I noticed that local food trucks rotate through here each weekend - so it's easy to enjoy dinner and beverages here. Willow Rock recently launched their interpretation of a longtime Syracuse staple-Congress Beer. This will only serve to bring even more awareness and recognition to this fine brewery. If you've never been here, do yourself a favor a make a stop this fall/winter before or after an SU game- you'll be glad you did! read more

My cousin had this place serving some delicious and fresh brews and wines at her wedding last weekend. They had so many delicious brews like their HPA and a few other ones as well. I really hate leaving these kinds of reviews as I'm generally a huge fan of small businesses and I soooo really wanted to love this place. It's neato and industrial inside and they have a cool logo and merch and all that, they also house a pizza truck out front (which was closed the day we visited; sigh), and their prices are reasonable...but...their beer just wasn't to my liking, nor my wife's. We did 5 different tasters, including their seemingly popular Jim Brown ale, but all of them, yes, all of them disappointed. I almost felt like their beers had been brewed by truly novice brewers. I'm not trying to offend anyone, that's just the feeling that their beers gave me. I was also very, very disappointed that they didn't have any IPA's on tap at all the day we were there. It's been a while since I visited a microbrewery that didn't have at least one, but oh well, they brew what they brew. Beer Advocate online doesn't rate their beers too well either and I have to say that I agree with them. I doubt I'd come back unless I checked in advance that they were serving a fresh IPA. Bar area is quite small though they do have tables farther away and in a different room from the bar itself. Saying all of this, beer is very subjective and there may very well be plenty of folks out there that would find their beer to be quite tasty, but their offerings just didn't get it done for me at all. Great little addition to Syracuse. Tried a flight to get a good sample of their beers. It's locally owned by a couple of guys who take pride in their product. Meh. Not enough seating, the beer was ok. Fun names like Orange 44 (American pale ale), Jim (Brown ale hehehe), Brunch (oatmeal stout) and Stille Nacht (winter warmer). The beer certainly wasn't extraordinary, just fine, but forgettable. $2 for tasters and $3 for specialty/seasonal beer tasters. The location is hidden in an old industrial building with limited signage. I knew it was going to be crowded inside as the gravel parking lot was full. This is an old warehouse turned brewery which is not uncommon these days in the microwbrewery world. When we arrived, the pizza truck had already shutdown so that was a no go. This was disappointing as we hoped to drink some beers and enjoy some pizza. We arrived about 3:30 pm. Since the place was open until 5, we didn't anticipate the pizza truck shutting down so soon. I found the seating area to be awkward. There is a enclosed glass area with the bar and a few high top tables with t.v.'s. Outside of the glass cube, there were about 4 long wooden tables with bench seating. No bartender out there. If you want a beverage, you must go into the crowded enclosed glass bar area. As with most breweries, the bartenders give special attention to the regular and frequent customers and kinda ignore any newbies. Beyond that, kids everywhere. Sorry parents, when I go out for a drink I expect adults to be in attendance, not kiddos. Drinking is an adult experience. That being said, kids everywhere of varying ages, even in the bar area. Sorry, but I'm not a fan of that. The beer was forgettable, it was crowded in their tiny bar area, location had limited parking and an early shut down of the pizza truck.
