Attended a wedding at Arabella Laguna. We spent the entire day getting ready in one of the cottages. Plenty of room for 8 women to move about and do hair and makeup. The garden is a perfect photo op spot. Highly recommend this as a vacation destination or a venue for a special event.

We rented the Myrtle Cottage recently for our wedding. It was absolutely beautiful and perfect for me and my girls to get ready in on the morning of the wedding. I am so happy to have found this gem! My husband was blown away when he saw the place on our wedding night and said we couldn't have stayed at a more perfect place! I am so glad I found Arabella. We will definitely revisit throughout the years.

Courtyard. Wish it had a fire pit!

They have a checkin area where you can unload all your stuff as well before moving your car to the parking lot. The cottages have a microwave & a refrigerator with a sink. You can't use the stove/oven, just FYI. I did a 1 nighter in a shared cottage in November. It was cooler weather and we were in the white house upstairs. We had the loft and another party had the side room. We have no issues sharing the common space and it was fun to experience. This April, I scored a 2 night in cottage 4B on the only rainy/gloomy weekend we've had here. Of all the luck. Within 6days of reservation date, you lose 1 night stay so it was sunk cost so I went ahead and did both nights. Easy to check in and checkout. If you are down the hill, you can get a ride on the golf carts which are very nice. 2 cars overnight as well per cabin. Rooms were clean. There is no AC so be prepared depending on your weather. I wanted to leave windows open but most don't have a screen so you get bugs and I was afraid of critters coming in. (Saw it on a youtube from someone. ) Each cottage is different but great to get away. Beautiful location! SYOY!

Currently there are full cottages (like an Airbnb), dorms (private rooms with shared living space),and three ADA cottages. The prices range from $53 -$338 per space, per night, all year. Reservations for the cottages open up 6 months in advance at 8am, and the dorms open up 1 month in advance at 8am. The max time length is 7 days, per reservation. They are located right on the beach in Crystal cove, with full kitchens, bedding, towels, and toilet paper. The views are GORGEOUS!!! Lots of windows, and there is nothing like falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing. We stayed in 29B which is the loft inside building 29 (4 twin beds and private bath downstairs) so cute, so comfortable, and just a lovely stay! The Beachcomber restaurant is located right on the beach as well, serving breakfast lunch and dinner. SUPER packed in summer, not such much in winter. There is a snack bar area, a couple historical building, and a souvenir shop adjacent to the restaurant. The Shake Shack is up at the top of the cliff, up a huge flight of stairs, on PCH. There is also a private meeting room located next to the reg office if you wanted to host a meeting overlooking the ocean. PLEASE NOTE FOR PARKING: the reg office is located past the ranger station, and you have to drive up there to get your keys and unload your car. Then you are given a parking permit, and have to drive your car across the street (PCH) and walk back to the cottage area, about a 10 min walk with minor hills. For the ADA cottages, you can park very close to the cottage. PRO-TIP: bring your own coffee cups, plates, silverware. Very limited in the cabin

They are so kind and made sure our stay was a pleasant one. The hotel itself is right on the sand. There's beautiful views all throughout the hotel and from the rooms. The location is perfect and close walking distance from many great dining spots. You want to walk whenever possible because parking is a bit stressful and walking allows you to enjoy all that Laguna Beach has to offer. One of my favorite things about the room was being able to open the windows and sliding door to the beautiful ocean breeze. It's the best! (We couldn't do that for a portion of our stay because a couple of the neighbors continued to smoke. Not the hotel's fault because it is non-smoking but we were bummed that we kept smelling it in our room.) The room was nice, quaint and clean in general. For the price per night, I would say it might be due for some up keep just from normal wear and tear, such as new pillows and things like that. It wasn't super fancy or anything but the location of it offered beautiful views! The hotel and staff are lovely overall. We would genuinely stay here again.

My room appeared to be next to what sounded like a utility or service room, and there was loud equipment noise running throughout the entire night. Sleeping was nearly impossible. For the rates Surf & Sand charges, guests should not be placed in rooms with constant overnight noise issues, and concerns should certainly not be ignored afterward. Very disappointing experience from a hotel that presents itself as a luxury property.

The only downsides were the walls are a little thin so I could hear the customer in the next room coughing, and the breakfast was not that good. Leslie also informed us of the complimentary bikes to use if we wanted to explore the town and how we were just in time to enjoy the complimentary wine and cheese from 4-5:30 in the common area. We grabbed our free bubbly, the vanilla bath salts for my wife to enjoy later, and proceeded to enjoy the cheese and assorted treats on the outdoor patio overlooking Dana Point. No better way to unwind! Pro tip: NEVER EVER SKIP THE FRESH BAKED COOKIES! The property is the perfect size to remain quaint like a bed and breakfast but big enough that you don't feel obligated to know each person coming and going. I would admit being in our mid 40's, we were on the younger side of guests during our stay, but this was a welcome surprise for us as we were looking for a quiet getaway for the evening for our 9 year wedding anniversary. The room was 212 which is an ADA accessible room but this I believe was provided at the special request of having a bathtub for my wife who values her baths on her getaways! The room faces the parking lot but this is a small sacrifice for what the true payoff was which was the special request... The giant jacuzzi tub which did not disappoint. It was large enough to fit two adults (not that we tried or anything *wink wink). The jets worked great and my wife raved about them. The room came with luxurious robes and slippers and all bath products were either local or unique brand. The room also came with a fireplace that was gas which started with the flip of a light switch. Another beautiful touch. It is always hard to find a bed that is comfortable enough while away from home as we are spoiled by our sleep number at home but this bed did the trick (which most chain or corporate hotels cannot accomplish!). The linens were soft and the room came with extra pillows and blankets on hand without having to ask for more. The complementary breakfast buffet in the morning was not your standard spread. It felt more refined and focused on the details. It was not your scrambled eggs from powder. It was two sunny side up eggs cooked to perfection. It wasn't generic underripe fruit, it was perfectly ripe fruit with an assortment of sides. My wife raved about the yogurt and toppings as did I about the oatmeal and toppings. Overall this could not have been a better short 1 night getaway for my wife and I to enjoy away from the hectic everyday life. It truly felt like we slowed down time and the blue lantern Inn accomplished all we needed in having a successful start to our anniversary celebrations.

The bed was very comfortable too. Our room had direct access to the pool and that was a nice feature. Other reviews mention the high cost, I agree, it was costly with additional fees. Cons - Our room was not serviced for our 2 night stay. We removed our dnd sign from 11-3 and no one came. For $600 a night this is wild to me that our mats were still wet and no coffee refilled, I didn't see the cleaning staff once throughout our stay. - There is no true restaurant at this hotel. Bites and drinks but no substantial meals. Wasn't surprising to see takeout bags all throughout the halls. - As others stated $75 a night parking fee is wild but you can take your car out as much as you like since there is no Valet - zero amenities in the room -- you have to pay for toothbrush, no water bottles or even carafes of water. Overall the staff, outside of the lovely check in woman were essentially non existent. No cleaners, and even in the morning there were 2 men but they didn't greet or acknowledge anyone. Again for $300 it would be fine and expected but for $600 and on some days even $1K a night on the 4th of July this is wildly overpriced for what you get.

If I needed anything at all, a staff member was already there and ready to help before I even had to ask. One of the things we appreciated most about Occasions was their flexibility.
