My husband and I LOVED staying at the lodge this week! Chris, the owner, is an incredible host! We found our room to be extremely comfy and aesthetically pleasing! We felt right at home. Super quiet facility, everyone was very kind and respectful. We enjoyed some sun by the pool and a late night dip. Loved that our room came equipt with coffee, kettle, fridge and microwave ( for italiano leftovers by the pool the next day, obviously ) The stay was so great we asked if we could extend a day about an hour shy of our check out ( fully expecting a ' sorry no can do ' they said ABSOLUTELY and Chris was so gracious to give us some amazing day of recommendations for things to do like brunch and beach time. Location wise, you're right across from the Montage, and you can VERY conveniently walk across the street, down their ( gorgeously manicured ) steps to the ocean sans the $2k fancy pants room spend. Stunning. GREAT stay- we're sure to come back next surf trip down and recommend to all our friends! Hope you found this helpful - I was half apprehensive to spill the beans on this new gem but wish Chris and the crew all the success!!! See you in Laguna!

We just spent 5 days in Laguna Beach Lodge and I wish I could give them 10 stars! Absolutely wonderful! If you are looking for a resort style pool, breakfast included, & hot tub, you won't find it here. But, if you are looking for beautiful views, great location, clean spacious beautiful rooms, & great service, this is the one! I could not be happier with our stay. Also, I learned they will be completely redoing the place in Nov (2023) and they do not know how long it'll be until they are back up and running, so hurry and stay here before then! U will NOT regret it! My family and I could not be happier and I'm so glad we decided to stay here. We will absolutely be back!

From the 1st room that had water all over the bathroom floor and a tub that didn't drain after the husband showered (and no, he wasn't THAT dirty!!), to the new 'room with a view' (insert huge deep laugh here because in 5 days I missed it completely) that had a sink that didn't drain, from just washing my hands )again, we are not dirty peeps)...there was clearly a KNOWN plumbing issue yet just keep booking the rooms. Both ladies working the front desk were new 'it's my 1st day' or 'my 1st week'--that was why she couldn't print our receipt upon check-out (didn't know how). The entire hotel needs a makeover. Inside and out was last updated in maybe the 50's or 60's? I have no idea how this hotel would pass ANY inspection. Walking on the 2nd floor slanted like it was about to crumble, to the visitor whose room apparently had a bee or wasp problem, so bad the exterminator came out to spray while we were there. The hotel was just an all around head scratcher! The ONLY positive thing I have to say about this hotel is the location. They said it had 'new management' so, for all future visitors, I sure hope they revamp it from the ground up!!

We stayed here 4 nights and loved our experience! Every single person who worked here went ABSOLUTELY above and beyond! We felt so taken care of! Our room was clean and comfortable! The staff is what truly sets this place apart and the main reason we would not consider staying anywhere else next time. We didn't have any problems but I know if we did it would be handled with care and exceed my expectations! They all deserve a raise, bonus, or perks for working their! Thank you for a great stay!

They've really turned an older motel into a nicer, boutique hotel. Beautiful, clean room with modern decor and good soundproofing, and great customer service. Chris was really great on the phone and Santi (hope I spelled that right) very kindly accommodated my older parents' requests. Great location across from the Montage, and great building decor/plant life. Note: Water view from the room was okay because PCH took up most of the view, the perk is that we could still enjoy sunset. Next time I would either stay in one of the other rooms and walk over to the Montage for sunset, or pay for another place that is on the water-facing side of PCH.

We really enjoyed our stay. Checkin was a breeze. The king bed was like sleeping on a comfortable cloud! Even our frenchie Grizzly Adams approved of the bed. The shower pressure was amazing. We will definitely be back.

I almost don't want to leave such a good review because I want this place to stay Laguna's secret gem. My daughter and I live in orange county and decided to come to the shore for a weekend and it was magical. I've been going to Laguna Beach all my life and I've stayed in most of the hotels but this might be my favorite. The rooms are beautifully updated and the hotel still has an old school 1950s vibe. The location could not have been better. Thanks to our little kitchen, we were able to get food from Gelson's next door and eat whenever we wanted. The fact that we were directly across from the Montage and the most beautiful beaches in Southern California was everything. And Chris the owner is awesome. Check-in is super easy and you can easily stay here without running into another person. The only thing, cell phone reception is poor for all carriers but I was OK with that. It forced me to stay off my phone.

This is the most disgusting hotel I have ever stayed in. I CANNOT believe they rent these rooms out... and for the price that they do. Rooms smell of mold, are dirty and have furniture from 60 years ago. They do have a beautiful re done room on AirBNB which I am assuming they get good reviews from. It's also rented out at a cheeper price which I find odd. Staff was friendly and when we checked in-- the front desk is updated and VERY cute. Then when we got to our room I was so grossed out, I looked for other hotels but unfortunately everything was booked. Hard PASS.

This is what the pool actually looks like. Disgusting!

The owner reached out to me and told me that I should let the staff know what was going on . He obviously did not read my review . It was his GENERAL MANAGER the guest like this. It's a hard pass for me . I will never ever stay at this dump again! I could understand if staff were nice I would not be so upset with the grounds and how un-kept they were .

My new favorite place to stay in Laguna! Perfect location outside of all the downtown activity, a short trolley ride or walk to all the best spots. Being able to walk out of your room, cross PCH and be at treasure island in minutes was the cherry on top.

She explained all the hotel's amenities. In addition to the room charge, a $40 resort fee got us: 1. On-site parking; 2. Welcome sangrias; 3. Chocolate chip cookies each night; 4. A European styled breakfast each morning from 7am to 10am; 5. Wi-fi; 6. Beach chairs and umbrellas. Parking in Laguna Beach is a premium, so parking at the resort was great. The city of Laguna offers a free shuttle with a bus stop almost in front of the hotel. So we parked our car and took the shuttle all over town. The property is a well maintained, quant renovated 26 room Italian style resort. It's clean, charming, and has lots of character. It felt nice being at a small property and not at a large commercial hotel. We felt like we were back in Italy on vacation again! Just walking past the front of the hotel, you would not know that there is a luxury resort inside. They have a heated swimming pool (83 degrees), a sauna, and a secluded sun bathing lounge area and several other amenities. We opted for the heated wellness treatment which is a jacuzzi hot tub for two with mineral water. But they also offer single and couples messages and other message therapies. They have a quant internal courtyard for dining as well. We enjoyed a great European breakfast each day which was well prepared, fresh, healthy, and served by great hostesses. We especially liked the frittatas, fresh squeezed orange juice, hot coffee, and iced cold lemon water. The property is a historic landmark, so it doesn't offer handicap accessibility. So if you or someone in your group is in a wheel chair or uses a walker then this property won't work for you. Overall we really enjoyed staying here and would definitely go back again.

The service was excellent and can see that staff takes great care and attention to making sure everything is taken care of. We very much appreciated all the amenities this inn had to offer such as the welcome drink, evening cookies (delicious!), sauna, sunblock at the pool, towels, lovely breakfast.. all complimentary (breakfast with resort fee). We also appreciated the 10% military discount. We stayed in room 23 which was a standard queen bed with garden view and liked that spot because it felt central, private, and quiet. The room is on the smaller side but it was fine. It does not have a fridge but they provide an ice bucket. We ended up putting our bottled waters on top of the AC box and that kept it cool. Being that the inn is beautifully historic, there weren't many outlets inside the room. The bath robes were very plush. Both lamp shade knobs didn't seem to turn properly but we made it work somehow. Otherwise, we felt well taken care of throughout our stay and so glad we came. Aside from the inn, there is a walk to get to Victoria Beach. We walked south along Coast Highway to Victoria Place and found the underpass from there. We also took the free trolley outside of the hotel to get around town. It could be quite a wait for the trolley as we waited 30 mins. There is a QR code on the sign to track the trolley locations.

The hotel lends out umbrellas, beach chairs, and towels if you want to go walk the 10 minutes to the beach. There are loads of restaurants and boutiques within walking distance too. I think it's $50 a night for a car? I'm not quite sure, but it was around there. It's quiet, convenient, clean, and we would probably stay there again.

I researched every hotel I could find that was within walking distance to the beach in Laguna. I was not sure what to expect since reviews were a little inconsistent. I was very impressed by the ambiance of this hotel! It's gorgeous! It's warm, tropical and beachy. Very unlike a chain hotel. There were a lot of beautiful details that made the hotel unique. The bed was very comfortable too. Our room had direct access to the pool and that was a nice feature. Other reviews mention the high cost, I agree, it was costly with additional fees. However it's not an economy hotel. It's directly on the beach and I expected to pay a premium rate because of that. A welcome note and fruit were left in the room upon arrival. The staff were great, Sam checked us in and he was very sweet. There was another young man with long hair that was also very kind (I didn't get his name, he gave great direction on some local shopping). Cons - Our room was not serviced for our 2 night stay. We removed our dnd sign from 11-3 and no one came. For $600 a night this is wild to me that our mats were still wet and no coffee refilled, I didn't see the cleaning staff once throughout our stay. - There is no true restaurant at this hotel. Bites and drinks but no substantial meals. Wasn't surprising to see takeout bags all throughout the halls. - As others stated $75 a night parking fee is wild but you can take your car out as much as you like since there is no Valet - zero amenities in the room -- you have to pay for toothbrush, no water bottles or even carafes of water. Overall the staff, outside of the lovely check in woman were essentially non existent. No cleaners, and even in the morning there were 2 men but they didn't greet or acknowledge anyone. Again for $300 it would be fine and expected but for $600 and on some days even $1K a night on the 4th of July this is wildly overpriced for what you get.

My goal in staying at The Tides was to destress but she made me feel like "Bad Dog". There was a latch but it was painted the same color as the gate and I didn't notice it. I only noticed the key hole. My bad. As I floated in the pool, I said to myself, "You are Bad Dog."
