We ordered the fiesta mole, lobster crab cakes, and seafood Chile relleno. The fiesta mole ranged from a variety of flavors and was fun to share. The lobster crab cakes were the right amount of crisp and deliciousness. I wasn't a big fan of the seafood Chile relleno but it could be due to me not liking Chile relleno in general. The was our first time here to celebrate my birthday for lunch. I loved the mole sampler very delicious and filling. We also had the chicken tortilla soup, tacos zentacas, a mojito, and tres flan . The decor is really delightful and full of color. The peacock at the front entrance really cool. The staff was friendly as well. I did not like the tacos zentacas (chicken and 2 chorizo) so much because it lacked additional flavor it seemed to simple. I wish they offered al pastor but our waitress said its seasonal?! Great meal tonight for dinner! I loved being able to pre order it yesterday so I wouldn't scramble trying to figure something out and waiting through potentially long lines of those ordering tonight. We got a mixed grilled combo (shrimp, beef, chicken) and a chicken soup got us and a kids combo meal (taco and quesadilla with beans and rice) for the kids along with chips and salsa to share. The enchiladas were disgusting, the guacamole was stringy, and to top it all off: I ordered flan, and they sent me moldy flan. I don't understand this at all because how do you serve customers old flan that's not only not fresh, but been sitting in a fridge long enough to get moldy? Would not recommend this place to anyone. Chef Paco makes amazing mole sauces and provides a personalized experience. He visits each table to explain his specialties, and his passion for his food is palpable. On my first visit I was in the middle of my pregnancy and he suggested great mocktails and the rainbow mole sauce enchilada dish was divine. His mole sauces are so unique and you can do all different fillings. On his visit to the table, Paco told me to come back when I was ready to have the baby and he would make is special "Oh my God Baby Salsa". The day before my scheduled induction, my husband and I went back to NRebozo for the baby salsa. Paco said to choose anything on the menu and he'd prepare it with his special baby salsa. He said there was a 90 to 95% success rate. I ordered enchiladas and the sauce was fantastic with a warming spice that built, but was not too spicy. He gave me a to-go container so I could put it on my eggs in the morning, which was also amazing. The evening after our visit an hour and 10 min before my scheduled induction, my water broke and I went into active labor and my beautiful healthy baby girl was born 3 hours later with no induction necessary! Thank you Paco, your "Oh my God Baby Salsa" worked! (And was delicious). We plan on coming back with our baby girl to say thank you in person! read more

Kills me to have to give them a 3 and not a 3.5 option. Staff, Chef Paco, restaurant, decor are all worthy of a higher rating. Unfortunately the food was honestly just average and hear me out. The fish tacos were very bland. The salsa served on the fish took the crispiness of the fish Away and on top of it didn't enhance the flavor. The fish was tilapia which to me is the probably the lowest on the totem pole of seafood. Then for the mashed potatoes served on top of it as Chef Paco states "why you ask?, why not?!?". This was the biggest disappointment. I want to ask him why would you?!? These tacos were totally underwhelming and on top of it the mash was not impressive. Piping mashed potatoes onto tacos is not cool. Smh! You could do something more interesting, reach out to me for ideas. We can seriously collaborate! :-) Enchiladas in the 6 mole sauces. Great idea! Loved the idea!!! Loved the plating but was hoping for so much more. Moles were good but not memorable! Chef Paco is talented but I feel like the flavors are basic and possibly geared towards to more of an Americanized palate than anything else. $4 for a side of basic mexican house rice that was a small portion served in fancy bowl was not worth it. Well like I said I wanted this to be better but unfortunately it wasn't. Nice experience overall I wouldn't go back though as I would want more flavor for the price. read more

It has been ages since I have been to New Rebozo, but just checked out their new location in Forest Park. I had forgotten how divine their food is. Chef Paco is as warm and welcoming as ever. Their drink menu is excellent. I loved my Aperol mezcal margarita. YUM. The Fiesta Moles is a must. Go back another time for all the other delightful dishes. Ingredients are fresh and high quality. Very good food, with the exception of very bland guacamole - needs garlic, cilantro, salt and maybe some onions. Delicious cocktails, and the owner is gregarious, helpful and entertaining. But, it's very expensive for what you get, and the wine "selection" consists of three different bottles from the same "winery" that you can buy from a nearby store for less than $15 a bottle. Rose, white and red are each insipid and just awful. Corkage was $35 a bottle and we wish we'd forked it over despite the ludicrous charge. If you don't offer drinkable wine, don't charge someone $35 a bottle to bring one. Won't be back. read more

We found this gem from a Yelp search and we were not disappointed! We came to visit during a house hunting trip from out of town and we loved the ambiance of New Rebozo. All the staff were very friendly and attentive during the entire meal. Chef Paco came to our table and shared his specials with us. He is just as engaging and warm as everyone says that he is! We chose the empanada appetizer and shared the Tacos Chetumal. Both were outstanding. My husband ordered a New Rebozo margarita and I had the pomegranate margarita. Both were delicious and we ordered seconds. I managed to save room for the ice cream dish that had pecans and toasted coconut and was covered in caramel. I would hands down give this dessert a 10/10. The homemade chips and salad were also fresh and delicious, unlike many Mexican restaurants that all taste the same with little flavor. We thought the place was perfect for a date night - in fact, the couple next to us were on a first date, themselves - and we look forward to returning when we relocate here next month and sharing this find with our friends and family when they come to visit. We dined at New Rebozo in Oak Park years ago and found the food to be delicious but expensive. With their relocation and great reviews, we decided to have food delivered as a revisit. The delivery arrived quickly and with a welcomed wave. But, the food?? One word: SALT!! Why do too many restaurants ruin what could be stand alone ingredients with salt? My wife's Chile Poblanos weren't salty but were "bland." Everything else tasted like...salt: queso fundido de crema, steak quesadillas, and a chicken burrito. After many years of New Rebozo being on the list of places we wanted to try, my wife and I finally stopped in for dinner. We were not disappointed! The meal was a perfect ending to a great day (we had just come from a matinee of Hamilton). First off, we were able to find parking right in front on Madison, which was very nice. We wandered in without reservations and were very quickly seated and greeted by our server. While we were browsing the menu, the chef came out to the table and with his iPad showed us the specials and took great care explaining each one. He was just to passionate about his food it was infectious. We ended up ordering two items off of this list, the Sol de Azteca, and the chicharron crusted fish tacos with tortillas done three ways. What a meal! The food was so well balanced and inventive. I must confess I was a little worried about chicharron on tilapia filets but it really worked! I think perhaps it was the delicious sauce they had on them, or the flavored tortillas, but the whole dish worked perfectly. The Azteca was a sort of layered chicken enchilada with guajillo sauce and poblano chiles as garnish, and it was perfectly composed and executed. I rarely have a dessert at a restaurant, but decided that the entrees were so good, that I give the sweets a go. I had one of the best Tres Leches cake I've ever eaten. The place was so clean and well maintained. The serve staff was rapid fire and so pleasant. The chef even came back by to ask about the dinner. All in all it was a great experience and I am looking forward to a return visit to try out the moles for which the restaurant is known. At first I was wondering if we had made a mistake in waiting to drive back towards home before eating dinner. I had originally planned to go to Frontera after the show, but we'd had enough of the crowds in the city. I can honestly say that I could not have had a better dining experience had I remained in Chicago. This restaurant really is a gem in our backyard. read more

This restaurant had great service, a safe environment and delicious food. Only one group of guests are allowed in at a time to be seated. Guests are able to review the menu while the hostess is getting the table ready. The outside patio is very cute. The service was responsive, polite and wore protective gear.
