The positive reviews are clearly fake, because the company described could not be more different from the company I worked with. I hired NRG to redo my pool and pool deck back in October 2020. NRG spectacularly failed the job, and performed with an offensive and abysmal level of professionalism. They subjugated my family to 8 months of obfuscation, evasion of responsibility, endless excuses, gaslighting, and bullying before finally abandoning the job and ghosting us. There is no one to take your calls, answer your emails, or return your messages. They will accept every job, tell you what you want to hear, will write the contract deceptively, take your money, and will inch the project forward every 3-6 weeks only under threat of legal or professional recourse. We were constantly left disillusioned and on edge. Frequently, we were given a schedule, only to have it not adhered to, with no explanation, no call, leaving us for weeks wondering what was happening. Some would call that dishonesty. It's certainly unethical and it upset my family immensely. Their workers left their trash littered throughout the backyard, and defecated in our bushes several times (we would have let them use the bathroom inside had they simply asked). They game you with dishonest slimeball tactics. For one, we showed our initial project manager, Gabriel what we wanted, which we understood to be called large "stamped concrete" slabs. He insisted they were in fact called "very large pavers," and wrote so in the contract. They then promptly destroyed my pool and backyard in October 2020, and did not clean up the rubble until 5 months later, which is absolutely infuriating when you're living in the house and your contractor won't stick to schedule. He then ordered and delivered hundreds of small pavers, which is not what we wanted, not what we agreed to, and much cheaper than the large slabs. NRG then tried to bully us into accepting it, saying they incurred the costs of ordering and delivering them and were operating at a loss. Things went downhill from there as they continued to shirk responsibility and make excuses. After supposedly firing our initial project manager, the president takes our second project manager out for a night of drinking, where he subsequently gets a DUI. The president then comes to my house demanding payment despite being behind schedule and the amended contract specifying progress payments are to be made upon completion of the work. When asked to enumerate the costs, he made up numbers that were contradicted by his own workers right in front of him. We gave him what we understood to be the honest value of his services, all the professionalism notwithstanding, which was 80% of the progress payment, the rest to be provided upon completion. They then disappear on us, leaving us without a pool in the middle of summer, when pool contractors are most in demand. It cost us much more than our agreed contract price to get the job done, and we will now take legal action to recoup the loss resulting from the breach of contract. The incompetence goes right up to the top to the president. He refers to himself as a "man of his word," which is quite a thing to say 8 months in to a 6 week project where he does not respond to calls or emails. Most of the staff at the office is quite nice, and will cover for their bosses, who are always, always "out in the field" or "in a meeting" and can never seem to find the time to call you back. Special exception is "Shawn" in the office, who is a bully. NRG has brought immense anxiety and pain to my family, most especially my aging mother who was set to move into this house. She is an avid swimmer and was excited to enjoy her new pool. Instead, she will miss the entire summer, despite the contract being signed and her old pool being demolished in October of the prior year. Do not work with this company. It's a clown show. If you're looking for real professional and reliable general contractor don't look any further. These guys are the best contractors I've worked with so far and will not hesitate to recommend to all my friends. I reached out to them for removing my old concrete all around the house to have it replace by pavers, and have my old backyard sod replaced by turf. My person of contact was Ofir who has been nothing but stellar in explaining the process and keeping me updated of the work progress almost live. Not only he was able to quote me my project at a very fair market price, but the whole job was fully finished within 4 days (from demolition to full installation of the turf). As a result my neighbor and I have contacted NRG Builders and Ofir to now redo our driveway. read more

We just purchased our house and had to do some renovations to make it "our home." I found NRG and a few other companies through the local magazine we receive in the mail and got some estimates. Me and my wife sat down and reviewed everything and decided to go with NRG based on their work description. They painted the interior of our home, removed our crown molding, installed recessed lights, installed a tankless water heater and converted our garage so that I can turn it into my wife's office. I have been waiting for over a year to have NRG start the build of my pool. Nothing has happened and they blame it on COVID. They recently stated that they needed to charge me $40K more than what was contracted over a year ago because of their delays. They are the worse company I have ever worked for and advise folks not to use them. They do not follow up on commitments and are very bad at returning calls esp when they promise you they will get back to you. DO NOT USE THEM FOR ANY OF THEIR SERVICES. NRG Builders did topnotch, creative work on two projects for me. They replaced my cracked driveway that is curved and sloped with beautiful Slaton Random (design), bullnose border pavers, creating a much more attractive, unique design which complements the home, will last indefinitely, and stands out in this community. Completion of driveway demolition, installation of new pavers on driveway, front porch, and a side walkway connector to the back patio took only 3 DAYS! This included 1 day to resolve an unexpected problem with underground pipes. Their teamwork was excellent in every way and noticed by many community members. NRG also completed my master bathroom remodel, offering creative ideas for design, shelves, and accessories that resulted in a beautiful, functional bathroom with extra storage. They replaced an oversized garden tub with a large walk-in shower and replaced the old small shower with a large storage closet. Tile choices for the shower are beautiful complements to the Granite vanity top and flooring installed two years ago. A large framed, mirrored medicine cabinet (48" x 30") opening on right and left sides to shelves for small items replaces a large mirror. On a small side wall, recessed open shelves replace the old built-in medicine cabinet, providing out-of-sight hygienic space for storing and airing dental flossing/brushing equipment. Each step in the process was executed with precision and appropriate time before starting the next step. I wish there was a way to give this firm a 0 star rating. The photos that you see on this page must not be from this place because they mangled and ruined my back yard. They showed confidence and kept on saying that this job would be finished soon but it's been 4 months and still nothing. My daughter was praying to have her graduation party at our newly built backyard but now I have to tell her that this whole time they were "working" they messed up and needed to demolish it all. The unreliability from this firm is something that is unbelievable and there was nothing but poor management and the poor quality/service. There is plenty of lies and deceitful behavior with these people. The amount of times I was told that these men would come and work (they promised to come everyday) and yet I wouldn't see them for weeks is baffling. They had no problem tearing my yard apart but when it came to actually building anything, they fell through and left. I have extremely patient throughout this whole process but honestly, i'm done. I wish I could give them a zero rating. Worst company ever! They are very dishonest and terrible communicators. They gave us a 30-60 day time frame but one year later they have not finished and we had to file a complaint with the Contractors State License Board. We contracted with them to do a lot of major work in the backyard. The city inspector on his fourth visit came and knocked on our door and told us that they were not doing things to code and not doing it correctly. He had to come out 15 times and the norm is three or four times. They charged us for things they didn't even do.They continued to lie to us and tell us that they were going to take care of things and come finish but they never did.Their main excuse was that they were waiting for architectural plans for the free standing patio cover. We already had the materials for 4 or 5 months that they delivered, they were going to install that day but the city inspector came by and asked them if they had rebar in the footings, they told them yes so he made them dig them up and guess what, no rebar. They never even had a permit for the patio cover and pored the footings anyway.The quality of there work was terrible and some of it even started to fall apart before they even finished. We made them redo some of the paving stones because it was terrible and crooked and uneven, it does look somewhat better but not great. They are very difficult to get a hold of. We found them through a home improvement magazine. We have learned our lesson to only use companies that our friends and neighbors can give us good referrals for. They also damaged some of our lamps and other things on our property and didn't say or do anything about it, plus leaving their trash all over our yard and left fifteen empty pallets in front of our house for several weeks that they said they would take care of it but they never did. My Husband had to move the Pallets and pay someone to come take them.I could go on and on and write ten pages but I won't. I just want to warn you, do not waste your time and money on this company. They are very unprofessional, dishonest, and just in it to take advantage of you and your money. DO NOT SIGN UP WITH THEM!!! read more

I have a MAJOR concern with a quote for pavers from Oren. I'm sure that the work would look great but it's what is behind (underneath) that is my issue. He quoted a base support of 1" of gravel and 1/2" sand below for my driveway. As a licensed Civil and Structural Engineer, I was professionally concerned with his proposal for the base support. I then contacted the company that makes the pavers (Angelus) and confirmed that they suggest 6" of gravel and 1-1/2" sand below. Research from other paver companies, contractors, and the internet indicate similar values. (Just 4" of gravel is ok in patio or walkway applications.) I also have other quotes for the work and each of these proposed the base thickness in accordance with the paver manufacturer. I asked Oren several times to confirm the construction to make sure that we weren't mis-communicating. He confirmed the proposed construction with the thin base materials. When I requested the price of the construction with the thicker gravel and sand layers, he indicated an increase of about $3/sq.ft. Compared with several other bids which used the correct base thickness, his initial price with inadequate base was a bit higher. After the increase, it's not even close. He was polite, but as an Engineer in the construction industry, I don't trust the construction. I hope that others don't have eventual issues with their projects. read more

I thank each and every one of them. A special thanks to Ofir, the Chief Inspector on this job. He listened to me. Answered my questions and took away my concerns and kept the job moving. Kudos to Ofir and his team of skilled workers employed by NRG Builders! I hired NRG to remove cedar shakes from two areas of the exterior of my home and to remove two half walls from the entry way. This included patching and re-stuccoing to matching the existing stucco on the home. Removing the old gutters, patching and sanding holes and do all the prep work required for complete painting of the exterior of the home. The painting crew was very knowledgeable and their guiding me through paint selection was invaluable. New aluminum seamless gutters were installed. I had a problem with water leaking by the fireplace chimney and staining the stucco along the chimney when new roofing was installed a few years ago. The contractor was able to solve this problem by installing gutter and a downspout by the chimney. New porcelain tile was installed at the entryway. A decorative handrail and gate was custom made and installed at the entryway to the home. These simple little touches did a whole lot to enhance the curbside appearance of the home. The worksite was picked up and very presentable at the end of each work day. NRG Builders is a great company to hire whether you're planning a small renovation in or around your home or a large landscaping project. Don't hesitate to give them a call for a free estimate. Had an appointment for a quote for fence and gate- Casey confirmed 3 times- I specifically said that I would meet at property as I was not going to be there except to meet Carlos. I was given a one hour window of time. I was called a week before, a day before and the day of. I rearranged my day, as did my husband. Carlos called me (after my appointment having been confirmed) to tell me he would be very late - (I think he was just ill prepared) because when I told him that would not work for my schedule, he told me he could be there within the window - 10:30 (original time between 10-11 am. I was at the property at 10 am. At 11 I called Casey. Carlos was not there at 11 OR 11:30 - Very disrespectful and I will NEVER do business with this company nor would i recommend them. Casey suggested Carlos may have run into traffic. Traffic was lighter today and Carlos called me WELL before he was due to tell me he would be arriving WELL AFTER the appointed time. I agree with the other bad reviews that say if there was a 0 rating that's what I would give them. This company is very unprofessional and our "2 week" project took over 2 months and the only reason it was even completed was because my husband is also in the construction business and had to resort to threatening them with law suits because, he knows the laws in this industry, to get them to show up and finish the job. It was a complete nightmare the whole time. No project manger at all. I just happened to be working from home because of the Covid sitch and ended up having to manage this whole project when they actually showed to do the work. The only time somebody would actually show up from NRG was to try and collect the money. We had to have our pool replastered twice because the first time was unacceptable. That was just a small part of it. I could go on and on but I will just say 100% of what was said in the other 1 star reviews was completely accurate from what we experienced over here except those reviews didn't have one of the workers poop in the side yard and cover it with our firewood only to be found by my dog. Toilet paper and all. We had to clean it up and throw away the firewood. In all my years I have never been so appalled or disgusted with anything. Then once all was done we had a punch list to fix all the things they were just going to leave (and I won't even get into all of that detail) and it took more threats and tons of phone calls to even get someone to show up so the job just sat for another 2 weeks until someone came to take care of it. It was a super nice guy named Tony who actually worked for another company. We were so thankful that he showed up and really knew what he was doing.
