Sew Savvy Alterations - Wedding dress fitting

    Sew Savvy Alterations

    (10 reviews)

I met Jessica on 6/10 needing two dresses hemmed up for a wedding in September…read more We had our fitting scheduled for 6/11 but it was rescheduled on her end for 6/20. We had the fitting at her home where she conducts her business. She was very friendly in person. On 9/9 I texted her asking if she had time to fit another dress in for a hem job to be completed by 9/29 as I was going on vacation and wanted to wear the new dress I bought, knowing it was only a few weeks- I asked if a last minute hem was possible, she said it was and we arranged for it to be dropped off 9/10. I picked up my initial two dresses 9/25 with no problem and confirmed the third would be ready 9/29. On 9/29 I messaged asking when I could come by to pick up the dress to which she replied she had not started it and could have it done by 9/30. I was unable to pick up 9/30 as my flight left the country then. So I told her I'd pick it up when I got back into town- disappointed I wouldn't have my dress but not the end of the world. I got back into town and texted 10/17 asking when I could get the dress. I didn't receive a reply, I messaged a week later 10/23 when I could get the dress, and if it wasn't ready I still wanted it (at this point it had been almost a month since it was initially due to be done). She replied that I could come 10/24 to get the dress, and asked "if she was able to hem it, did I want her to do so". After almost a month of having my dress she hadn't even touched it yet, despite her offering to have it done by 9/30 I told her if she hadn't started it don't worry about it- I'll come get it anyways, planning to take it elsewhere. She messaged me 10/24 telling me she did in-fact end up hemming it and I picked it up that day. While she did apologize over text for not having it done by the due date back on 9/29, she did not mention or apologize in person for it being a month late I understand the fall is considered "wedding" season but over-committing and not meeting pick-up dates despite assuring it would be fine, and not even doing the hem until the night before I told you I wanted to pick it up is super frustrating. Communication wasn't great either, often waiting awhile to hear back over texts despite it being her preferred method of communication. While my first experience was good and everything was done in time, the second experience did leave a bad feeling about going back for future alteration needs.

Jessica seems to be very disorganized. Dropped off 5 pairs of shorts to have the waist taken in…read more Told her I needed two pairs in two weeks for vacation. She forgot the date I needed them and had to hurry to get them done in time. I was gone for 3 weeks and expected the other 3 pairs to be done when I gone home. Nope. Hadn't even started on them. Told me I could pick them up the end of a week and she would call. Nope. No call. I purposely waited another week before reaching out to her. She said I could pick them up the end of that week. Texted her and said I would be by that Friday. She said okay. On Friday I said I would be by at 11:30 that morning. She texted me and said she had not had time to finish them and that she would leave them UNDONE in a bag on her porch. I believe she charged me about $30 per short to just take in the waist. I found someone in my neighborhood who finished them in one week and charged me $12 per short! So, no, I would not recommend her.

This review is for the seamstress, not the dry cleaning. I took in two pairs of jeans to have them…read moreshortened and wanted original hems put back on. The seamstress proceeded to tell me all the reasons that she wouldn't/couldn't do it. I have had multiple pairs of jeans, just like the ones that I took in, hemmed with original hems with absolutely no problems whatsoever. A hem is a pretty basic thing for a seamstress, even if it involves putting back on an original hem. I would have much rather she told me that she just didn't want to do it, or didn't have the time, than to insult my intelligence by telling me all the reasons it couldn't be done. Dry Cleaning Butler might want to explore hiring a new seamstress.

One time I took new clothes I recently had purchased from a department store because there was a slight mildew odor. I did not notice the odor when I purchased them, only after I arrived home and removed the tags. The dry cleaner deodorize the clothes so there was no smell at all. I was so happy and amazed it got the odor out without ruining the clothes. I have also had my clothing altered with very good results. I will continue to use this dry cleaner, I have trust in them and the quality of the workmanship is very good. Nice people work there too, which means a lot to me.
