Tried this place today since the usual place we go to is jampacked. My daughter got Tommy for full acrylics and he was very detailed and good in what he does. We were accomodated immediately since we were the only ones there. For full set acrylics and removal (medium length) my daughter paid $70 not including tax and there is a $1 charge if you pay using card. I paid $61 not including tax for full set acrylic (short length) french tip. Good place to consider if you are in a rush. Wish they offer champagne and mimosas like the other nail salons in Santa Barbara. read more

Nu Image Nails is clean, convenient and is staffed with really sweet and talented Nail Techs. Im not sure why the negativity on the review- Honestly I truly enjoyed my service, observed the staff opening all clean and sanitized utensils using best practices to maintain client health and safety, and my tech, Holly, was so understanding when I asked to change the color because it wasn't popping on my skin tone. I really have no complaints! I was offered bottled water upon beginning my service, the salon takes Apple Pay credit and cash which was convenient for me as I just got out of yoga, and didn't have my wallet on me. And I really enjoyed the chairs which gave me a great massage during the service. Not only that, but I had two nail technicians working on my manicure and pedicure at the same time, which was great! This would be a great salon to book a birthday party since all of the chairs are lined up next to each other in one row with another three chair row opposite that. My only criticism ( of course, I am biased as a sommelier) is that they do not offer Wine or Champagne with the service as some other spots in town do. But I bet they wouldn't be opposed to a BYOB situation ! read more

I came again on a Tuesday, my friends and I made an appointment for three at 5:30 and two of us wanted acrylics while the other wanted dip, and they only had one technician who knew how to do that out the of the three who were there. They had to call one more technician in, but they continued to switch us around between the two of them. I felt like the man who was putting my acrylics on was working very fast, and possibly not paying attention to detail because by Saturday(four days) one of my nails easily popped off after bumping my nail, and my nail polish has also chipped on three nails, keep in mind that I did gel polish. I came in on Saturday to ask to fix my nail, and they told me to come back in one hour because it was the two nail technicians that didn't know how to do acrylic. I came back in a hour, and the man was already working on someone else, so I had to wait another 45 minutes for him to fix my nails. read more

My husband and I love getting pedicures here. Whenever we come to Santa Barbara from the Sierra Nevada Mts. we stop in. This is a family run business that has been there for years which is not easy in California.Having said that, the family work there and are so welcoming and friendly. Smiles all around. So wonderful to see. We feel very pampered and important when we are there. :) Plus they do a fantastic job on nails and feet. read more

DO NOT COME TO THIS NAIL SALON. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND TIME SIS. My friend and I came 2 days ago. They were completely fucked up. If you look up "Fucked Up" in the dictionary our nails would pop up. She came in for a gel fill and were completely confused, they kept asking if she wanted acrylic and she said no and decided to do a new set of gel. They didn't even ask her for the color she wanted so they decided to paint her nails black and she wanted white. So he legit painted over the black gel with white nail polish. He had the worst attitude the whole time she was there! Her gel ended chipping after 2 days and she had to paint over them again because she was so embarrassed! They use to be our go to place back in the day when Kim worked here, BUTTTT they let us down with this new management. I on the overhand came for a pedicure and she cut my toes really uneven. Never coming back lol read more

I'm gonna have to change my review... After coming here 3 times, I give up. Lisa does a great job on my nails. I'm guessing that the acrylic this location uses is cheap, because every time, my nails chip and the gel starts to come off before the 2 week mark. I'll be trying a new place this week. read more

The 3 star review is a combo of the 5 star I would give to my nail agent Ngan and the 1-2 stars I would give for the actual manicure. She was such a gem, and so nice and funny!The nail polish was not distributed evenly on the nails and the clear coat on top was done a little messy, so it made the final product look like they had NOT been done by a professional. However, I totally loved my nail agent and I would go back to see her and just tell her what I disliked about it. My nails are starting to chip after only 4 days, and the color has changed from a nude to an awkward orange. However, I do want to note that there was a pretty weird circumstance happening that day. They had an uncooperative customer who was refusing to pay and was causing a commotion that began before we got there and ended after we left. This customer even ended up hitting and kicking one of the other nail agents (poor girl!). I thought Nu-Image handled it very professionally, and I truly think any mistake on my manicure was due to the distractions this lady was causing. It was quite a scene, so everyone was truly involved in the situation. I would definitely go back and give them another shot to see if it turns out better when not distracted. Helpful tip: the basic manicure is $15 if you pay cash, $16 if you use card. read more

It was a good experience for a $31 basic pedicure. They didn't push back and cut cuticles, and did not do the most detailed job around the edges. Pros are the nice massage chairs, environment and leg massage. read more

I used to get my nails done by Kim, I literally never trusted anyone else lol I've had awful experiences at nail salons and she was the best but anyways, she opened up her own salon but in oxnard! I was so sad but excited for her and honestly was like fuck me man, what am I gonna do now. I ended up going back to nu image and figured everyone there should be just as gifted right? Well, I was right! I've had my nails done by both of the main aestheticians and love them both! These were the most recent set I got! (: Tip; for parking I recommend parking in the Ortega parking lot behind habit! Just cut through the walk way next to habit and it's right across the street!! The first 75 min are free, 1.50 for ever every after I believe. There's also nearby street parking that's 75 min until after 6, you could park at 4:45 and walk the short distance to the salon and not worry because by the time the 75 min are over it's already 6!! Been going for three years, about every two weeks for a manicure. I've also had a number of pedicures. I like to walk in so the level of service can vary depending on who I have but there are very strong and talented people here. I would suggest appointment with the one you like. Everyone knows your name and waves as you walk down the street. This is a great salon and they make me feel like family. read more

Sad to leave this review. Been going here for over 6 months and every acrylic set I get the GEL POLISH chips or peels completely off. I have over 10 photos of each time it has happened. i've gone in and asked if they aren't using gel? no help and they just say that they can fix the nail and then it chips within 2 days again. I tip well so I was very frustrated time and time again. finally I asked for a refund because 2 days after I got my GEL ACRYLIC SET the paint chips lol. they said no refund. It's a shame to write this review because Nu Image has been one of my favorite salons in Santa Barbara. But after the service last week, I can't leave a positive review. On their website, they offer a "deluxe pedi & spa mani" combo discount package for $65. I called 3 hours ahead of time to reserve this package, and to confirm that the prices online were correct. They said yes. I reiterated what package I wanted when I arrived. They asked if I wanted gel, I said yes. The pedicure was great, even though I had to remind the aesthetician to do the deluxe pedi (and not basic). I had to remind the next tech of the same thing during the "spa mani" and I was then informed that the discount deal was only available for the "regular" polish. I was getting gel, so I had to pay the full price of each service, plus $25 for gel on the pedicure and another $25 for gel on the manicure. So, the original package price was $65. Figure $35 or the pedi and $30 for the mani. The pedi alone, which I had already received, was now $70. If I wanted a mani, it was another $25 ($50 if I wanted gel). That brings the total price to $125 -- nearly DOUBLE the original price JUST FOR GEL POLISH. I expected to pay extra for gel (that's standard) but that was too much, especially since they said that I didn't just have to pay extra for the gel, but that I wasn't eligible for the discount price on the mani/pedi service because of it. I told the employees at Nu Image Nails several times that I wanted the package -- on the phone, when I arrived, and during the pedi there. They didn't say anything about it only being for regular polish, and that information was not listed anywhere online or publicly displayed in the store. I just said "yes" when THEY ASKED if I wanted gel. I reminded them that I called ahead of time to confirm that the online menu was correct and I showed them the call log on my phone. They told me that the number I called was the phone number for the old owner who had just opened a new location on the other side of town. But, as far as I can tell, there is only one Nu Image Nails in Santa Barbara. I had called the same number that's listed on their website and on Yelp, and we were also sitting at the address listed on their website, and on Google maps. I paid for the pedicure and left. Again, it's a shame -- I've been to Nu Image before and it was great. Had they been more upfront about their new pricing or if they had tried to compromise with me or apologize for the mistake; then I might have understood. But, they didn't, and after this I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Unfortunately one of the worst manicures I've had in a while. I came in on Friday to get a new gel manicure and requested a soak off removal instead of the drill. She insisted on using the drill instead of buffing off the top layer. She also used the drill after the soak and drilled off my skin around multiple fingers. It's been so annoyingly painful and now I have scabs around my fingers. They didn't have either of the three shades I picked out from their swatch book. After 4 days the manicure is already chipping as well. And the worst part- they charged me extra for a soak off removal even though they used the drill multiple times. With tip ended up paying $65 for a manicure just to be disappointed and pissed off. read more

This place has no idea what's going on with their Clients. I came in for a simple manicure and they confused me with another lady who came in to get acrylic nails. They cut OFF all my nails and filed them.... and then when I saw the lady take out acrylic nails.. I was like no.. i came in for manicure. Don't waste your money! My $50 mani/pedi started chipping away within HOURS. Okay, so I don't really get mani/pedis and I decided to splurge a bit, in name of self care... FIFTY bucks later and i feel like never spending money on myself ever again because of the HORRIBLE manicure and service I received. First off, I went in for a relaxing quiet time and the 3 ladies kept yapping in their language and laughing their lungs out while I was trying to relax. --They claim their a spa, well newsflash, spas are calm and quiet-- Second, what the heck was so funny? I didn't need to know the language to know very well that they were talking about their (2) customers. My lady would say something then the other 2 ladies would take turns taking sharp glances at me and laugh. At one point two ladies were working on me at the same time and they were speaking so loud and laughing so hard they would have to stop working to get it out. The hostility of the shop was intense because they knew I could read their body language but because I couldn't say anything back they had even more fun. Third, they judge you on your tip. I'm in the restaurant business, I've lived off tips before so I tip top tier--when the service is good. Meaning even if the product is poor I tip based off the way I was treated. This is the first time in my entire life that I felt like not tipping! No matter how poor the service is I try to find a reason to justify the poor service (busy, poor management etc) and still tip at least the min 15%. I had no reason to tip these women, but I did it anyway because I figure they have mouths to feed. And at the time I thought the mani/pedi looked nice enough to tip, which I regret 100% now that my mani is chipped away. Anyway, I tipped them each slightly more than the 15% which is standard for sh** service. They took the money, looked at eachother, said something, then laughed their butts off. When they were done laughing one of them looked at me and sarcastically thanked me for the tip then laughed again. The cherry on top of the horrible experience is my chipped manicure which I have to do myself. I'm literally disgusted with their poor customer service. There's a reason this place only has 3 stars, there's a reason there was only 3 people working, there's a reason why their was only 2 other people in the shop, while SB nails across the street had a wait! Don't come here! I'm sure with the price of rent on state street and the lack of service, this place will be recycled in no time. UPDATE: gave 2 stars because my toes are still in perfect condition. I'm not sure what the manicure lady put on my fingers to make them chip so horribly... but at least my pedi is still looking fresh. No chips. read more

The nails are cute only 55$ for one color which is not bad at all but when getting them done I did get some cuts which are small but so painful the acrylic started to burn my real nails after being applied not really sure why overall my nails are in pain rn lol but nails are really cute read more

We went here to get our nails done for my friend's wedding because it seemed like they were one of the only places in town that could accommodate our large group of 8 people. Most of us just got a basic mani or pedi and they were fine for the price. The girl that did my nails rushed through, barely filing my nails, cleaning up my cuticles, & cleaning up the polish off the sides, so that she could move on to another person in our group. They didn't have a person for each of us so they were moving around to get us all done and it was a little chaotic. Then, when we were standing around at the front getting ready to pay, we happened to look at my friend's, the bride's, nails. She had chosen a french tip manicure for her wedding and it was AWFUL! The bottom of the white strip of her nails was all jagged, not smooth and it looked like she had done her own nails at home with one of those kits from CVS. She even had white nail polish on her skin surrounding her nails. We immediately told her that she needed to have them fix it and someone else, who was not working on any of our nails previously, came out to fix them. They fixed them well enough for the wedding, but it was pretty bad. Her sister also had a french manicure & it was equally bad. I am sad to say I didn't get a photo of her nails before they fixed them because we had to rush off to do other wedding errands. I did ask her to send me a photo of her nails and, if she sends it, I'll add it to my review. OVERALL....If you want a very basic, okay mani or pedi for not that much money, & you don't care if it's perfect, then this place is great. If you are getting your nails done for your wedding, go elsewhere. read more

I walked in to get my gel polish removed. Was told it would be $5. 30 minutes after the polish came off and she did my cuticles and arm massage she asked what color I wanted?? Uhhhhh?? I never asked for a manicure. Ever. She said it would be $10 because she did my cuticles and massage. Why is the customer always responsible for language barriers/miscommunications? I'm so sick of that BS. UPDATE: The owner replied, he was shockingly unprofessional and nasty. Wtf! Accused me of wanting a freebee?! No loser, I never got my nails painted because she realized that was NOT what I came in for. I've never had gel removed and didn't know what to expect. She went on to cut my cuticles and give me a shitty 2 min massage. She was extremely busy and overwhelmed and even apologized and said it was her fault. I ended up paying double what I was quoted because she was scatterbrained and started the manicure process. How in the hell am I supposed to know that cutting cuticles and a quick massage isn't standard when you pay to get gel removed? Stay away from this place. The owner is total jerk! read more

They generously offer a complimentary glass of wine, but I don't drink alcohol. My suggestion would be to make coffee or tea complimentary (instead of charging $6-8.) So we booked a mani pedi with regular polish for the next time I would come in. Mind you, that I had just gotten gel on my hands and feet by them. Then I come in for mani and pedi. They never asked me which package I wanted so they naturally just gave me the more expensive one for hands and feet combo. Once my card was charged I was chocked! They charged me 250 for a mani and pedi with regular nail polish! I wrote to them and complained. And they charged me $140 for the combo of the nicer treatment with regular polish + $40 to take off the gel on my hands and feet. CHOCKED. Then I got a strengthening nail polish from them $25 ... Then I told them to tip the lady 20% And they tipped her 20% on everything After taxes and fees after treatment, gel removal, even the nail polish. Just so rude. It costs $155 to get the gel combo for hands and feet and that includes removing the gel. I suggested they at least charged me for that so that it wouldn't end up costing me more to get regular polish than gel. But they wouldn't! I was never informed that they would charge me $40 for the gel or that the combo I was getting would be $140 vs $155 with gel. Plus if I had, had a choice I would have chosen the $110 mani pedi with regular polish. I feel so mistreated, even after emailing with them they didn't want to do anything to comb me or help me not feeling mistreated. So here we are. I told them I wouldn't come back if they were seriously not going to do anything and they said they understood if I wanted to take my business elsewhere. This is after going there and being a high paying client for years. So disappointing. Thanks for my $250 mani pedi with regular polish. FYI this is how my nails looked after 1 day.

I hoped I'd get the hand massage since it's my favorite part but all she gave me was a a little oil to moisturize. It felt rushed. My friend waited for her pedicure while we got our nails done. When it was finally her turn the service still felt rushed although there were no other people in the salon. My other friend had a gel manicure as well and her chipped the next day. When we went to pay it was so much more than we expected! ($65 for my gel manicure- bare nails, $90 for a pedicure). Safe to say, we won't be coming back here.
