Very disappointed in the service and how they handled this situation. Also the job he did on my nails is so cheap, and looks horrible. They didn't even apologize. I'm so upset and wouldn't recommend coming here. Update to owners response: I never mentioned anything about Gel. I never get gel. I said I wanted a basic pedicure, and even if for some reason they thought that meant gel on my feet, why would they assume I didn't want dip on my hands? The man was extremely rude, he said that the price was $60 and that they never said $55. Now the owner is admitting she said $55. Who says "I want to see the gel colors?". I'm not the type of person to leave bad reviews. Truly one of the worst services I've ever had. Not to mention she didn't even address the terrible job the man did on my nails (see the picture). Her response is even worse. They should have apologized but now to come on and make things up is a step too far.

So we booked a mani pedi with regular polish for the next time I would come in. Mind you, that I had just gotten gel on my hands and feet by them. Then I come in for mani and pedi. They never asked me which package I wanted so they naturally just gave me the more expensive one for hands and feet combo. Once my card was charged I was chocked! They charged me 250 for a mani and pedi with regular nail polish! I wrote to them and complained. And they charged me $140 for the combo of the nicer treatment with regular polish + $40 to take off the gel on my hands and feet. CHOCKED. Then I got a strengthening nail polish from them $25 ... Then I told them to tip the lady 20% And they tipped her 20% on everything After taxes and fees after treatment, gel removal, even the nail polish. Just so rude. It costs $155 to get the gel combo for hands and feet and that includes removing the gel. I suggested they at least charged me for that so that it wouldn't end up costing me more to get regular polish than gel. But they wouldn't! I was never informed that they would charge me $40 for the gel or that the combo I was getting would be $140 vs $155 with gel. Plus if I had, had a choice I would have chosen the $110 mani pedi with regular polish. I feel so mistreated, even after emailing with them they didn't want to do anything to comb me or help me not feeling mistreated. So here we are. I told them I wouldn't come back if they were seriously not going to do anything and they said they understood if I wanted to take my business elsewhere. This is after going there and being a high paying client for years. So disappointing. Thanks for my $250 mani pedi with regular polish. FYI this is how my nails looked after 1 day.

She felt that using a curling iron on my hair was a good idea, and she curled against the curl, which makes my hair go straight. Maybe that works on straight hair, but with any curl, it will go straight and just be a flat lump, especially with hairspray on it. Then she cut some extra when it was dry, but that left some parts of my hair longer in some places. My hair is more than just curly. It's curly on the first day, but over the days after a shower, the curl flattens out. I like an even underlying cut.

I love this nail salon. It's such a great find. The services are reasonably priced for Santa Barbara and certain days of the week there are additional discounts. Some highlights: 1) I like how the ladies do not irk me with endless chatter - they just let me sit, read my magazine and relax; 2) they subscribe to a host of magazines so there is always current articles and photographs to peruse - hey, when else is there time to get an update on tabloids and fashion; 3) they keep up with seasonal polish from OPI and Esse - so I'm not stuck with gooey manicures and pedicures that chip quickly because the polish are old and cake on top of my nails when it's applied; 4) it's really clean and spacious so it never smells like I'm getting high from breathing nail products; 5) since the business is less than a year old all the fixtures are brand new, which means the massage chairs actually work; 6) they also offer customers complimentary tea, coffee or water; 7) while I haven't tried, they also have waxing services to make it a one stop appointment for beautifying; 8) if you're really stressed, you can get a massage and they're pretty good about giving you a full hour or thirty minutes and not deducting time for getting dressed before and after; 9) you can leave your tip on the credit card so it's not a nuisance to have to remember cash before coming; and 10) they have a lot of stations so walking in without an appointment is never really a problem and at most is no more than a ten-minute wait. If you want a quiet, clean, relaxing place to get pampered. read more

I hate to even give this salon one star...it deserves none! Don't waste your time and money!! I've been having pedicures twice a month for years. Hands down, this was the worst experience I've ever had. I live in the Bay Area and was visiting Santa Barbara last weekend with my two teenage daughters (our annual Mother Daughter getaway). Since the weather was bad, I thought it would be fun to bring them for their first pedicure. After checking Yelp and driving by many salons, I decided on TLC, based on the nicer interior...big mistake. I made our appointment for 4pm. I requested that all three of us be helped at the same time...."no problem". The salon called just before 4pm and said they were running behind and instead come at 4:30pm. Okay. We showed up at 4:30pm and waited OVER AN HOUR to be helped....and then only two of us were helped. My other daughter had to wait AN HOUR AND A HALF. Crazy! The pedicures were mediocre at best....not all of the nail covered, one coat of polish instead of two, crazy ass chairs beating the heck out of us, etc. Upon checking out, I asked what kind of a deal we would receive since we were helped two hours after our desired appointment. The nice receptionist asked the owner (in the back room)....a 10% discount. SERIOUSLY?! Don't waste your time or your money!!! Please!!!! read more

I have been here three times, all for their shellac manicure which is priced at $36-Cash. Sure, you can find plenty of places in Park Slope which will give you a shellac manicure for $35, but you won't find a team like TLC's who will take their time with each client to make sure their manicures come out perfectly each time. Their salon is also spotless and very welcoming. When it is less busy, they make their clients a cup of green tea, coffee or even wine! I have gotten shellac manicures at other places and they have all chipped/peeled faster than when I have gotten my nails done at Other Nail Salons. I do believe the shellac polishes they use are of higher quality. Last night I got my nails done here, and they suggested putting glitter on one of my nails. I loved it - it totally brightened up my nails and night and the manicure is flawless. Also - they tend to be less busy on the Mondays and Tuesdays. read more

Outstanding service, friendly people, and wonderful ambiance. I went for a manipedi -- they did wonders considering the level of damage i've inflicted on my nails. the massage chairs were comfy to sit in while i was pampered with massage oils and scrubs. I skipped the foot massage this time simply because I can't handle the ticklish feeling, but I do have to say after enduring the tickling sensation the first time I had a foot massage there, the scrub exfoliated the dead skin under my feet, leaving it incrediably smooth and feeling great. they use a lot of precision and effort to make sure your nails come out great, and they do! i recommand this for girls who want to be pampered or want to spend a relaxing day getting their nails done with their friends. read more

I purchased a few Axxess vouchers for myself and my family members visiting from out of town for the basic manicure. They allowed us to upgrade this to any service we wanted if we just paid the difference, which was a great deal. The lounge is very cool and modern with awesome amenities such as massage chairs and ipads. Everything was very clean which was the best part for me. I have always done my own nails since I don't like to pay for someone to do just an ok job. This place has great prices and they did a great job. My only criticism would be the that they could use more variety in their polish colors. No matter, I will be bringing my family back here when they visit as well as finally becoming a mani/pedi regular myself. read more

I always like to support new local businesses, however this decision was one I have regretted from the start. The atmosphere is cheap, trendy and dirty; I understand the ascetic they are attempting to achieve, but it's just not happening for them. The most disconcerting part of my entire experience was the language and rudeness of the owner/manager. The manicure was painful and left me with an infection in my nail, which had to be medically treated! I confronted them about recouping my medical expenses, but to my dismay they would not respond to my phone calls or emails. Needless to say I will NOT BE RECOMMENDING them to anyone and will stay as far away as possible. read more

As soon as I walked through the door, the receptionist came and helped me to a massage chair. Since I had an appointment there was no wait time, which is a plus !! As soon as I sat down I was served some green tea (at no additional charge). The tranquil atmosphere helps to calm and relax you as you are getting your mani done. Upon finishing my manicure - Again, Jenny did a fantastic job on my nails, I was helped to get my shoes back to my feets- I've never had this kind of service anywhere! The gel manicure here is amazing. I would definitely recommend coming here, it may be a little pricey but you can't beat a quality manicure that last's 4 weeks. read more

I would not recommend this establishment as it was poorly run and mismanaged. I arrived for my appointment and was told I would have to wait 15 minutes, not a big deal. Unfortunately, 15 minutes turned to 30 minutes, at that point I should have left. Instead, I hung in there only to be disappointed by the manicurist. I hate to say it but it was rather painful and uncomfortable and I'm not a sensitive person at all. Now obviously I can only rate my experience based on the one manicurist but I would hope management would only hire qualified employees. read more

DO NOT COMEE HEREEE!!! At first, TLC Nails looked nice when we walked in, but the experience was very disappointing. The main lady was okay, but the man doing my nails seemed inexperienced -- he cut my hands several times during the process, leaving me bleeding and uncomfortable. My nail extensions started lifting almost immediately, and the nail art was sloppy, with thick, uneven nails and a design that didn't match what I asked for. All the girls here are very polite and talkative. I love that they are not afraid to joke around with me and the other girls! Honestly you cannot go wrong here, they will do everything in their power to make it right (they always ask me at the end, if everything turned out excellent). Wow! On top of doing a superior job on my pedi, the foot/calf massage literally put me to sleep. They use disposable liners in the foot spas and only use the top of line nail polishes (OPI, essi and the like). They have wonderful massage chairs that they encourage you to lay in after you're finished and drying, complimentary drinks and a free IPad bar. Hi tech and high quality. Just moved to SBA and have been trying to get a decent pedicure. I found TLC and love it! The lounge is modern, bright and clean. They offer you a drink and escort you to a very cushy chair.
