I came here to get my nails done for my wedding and asked if they could do the inspiration picture. They said yes and then I left with a sloppy result that looks nothing like the delicate flowers I requested on a nude nail. Don't say you can do something when you can't or I would have not gotten a design at all! They also filed my nails way too short. Very disappointing. My nails are mediocre and the service was not good. Sat at a desk with already clipped nails on it and the women and her husband got frustrated with me for saying something. When he put the nails on he filed them sideways and i said something and he said no no no. I was confused because i was looking at it and it was sideways. The women came over and said he will file again later. As he continues to file he cut the side of my finger and it was turning red, basically bleeding, he continued to file over it. I didn't tip because in my opinion that service does not deserve a tip and the women got upset with me for not tipping. Strange experience. Hopefully it was just an off day. read more

I originally tried out this nail salon because it had good reviews online, but those reviews are not accurate. I went it for a new acrylic set and to get my old set off. The lady proceeded to take my old set off by taking a new acrylic nail and trying to pry under my old ones forcefully slicing them off. I asked her twice if I could just soak them off with acetone because it hurt and she didn't listen until she cut me all the way across the skin under my nail- I was bleeding and it was then when she tried to put my cut finger in acetone! Before I even sat down to get my nails done, I asked her how much they would be and she said $55 ( I always ask this because they like to up charge young girls like myself) at the end of my service she up charged me to $70!!! Horrible experience, won't be going back, my nails are already falling off the next day. read more

I came in last week with my cousin. We were serviced right away because it was pretty slow but everyone was really nice and the salon was clean and organized. My cousin got a gel manicure and I got a gel pedicure. We are both very happy with the results our cuticles looked so clean and the massage I received was very relaxing. I forgot the gentleman's name that did my pedi but any request I had he was able to give me exactly what I wanted. What a horrible experience. My mom and I went in for pedicures, a manicure, and an acrylic fill. We both came out with cuts on both our hands and feet multiple times from misuse of tools. Cutting back the cuticle too much causing it to bleed, not handling the drill carefully causing multiple cuts on the sides and under my nail, as well as cutting my toenail too short and completely crooked. On top of all of this, I had asked for white chrome nails and due to poor product the white completely turned buttered popcorn yellow instead of white, like it should be. If I could give this a negative star review I would.. honestly I don't write reviews like this but I'm really disappointed. I paid $48... $48!! For a standard mani pedi. Not even gel. The lady doing my nails clearly was rushing. I understand they are understaffed with only 3 people working at that time. But that's not an excuse for a bad job and no effort. I was cut so many times and ended up bleeding in 3 different spots. The paint job was horrible. Extremely streaky and lumpy. They didn't even take off my old acrylic residue. Both the manicurist and pedicurist burnt my skin with the (boiling) "hot towel". Also, both individuals were AGGRESSIVE filing my toes and nails. It hurt so bad. I pulled my hand and feet away a couple times to get them to notice they were going really hard. After all this, when going to pay, I politely asked to get some sort of discount because I really did not want to pay for how bad of a job they did. They offered me 50% off the next time I came.. but I already knew I wasn't coming back. So after going back and forth, I never got any kind of discount. I still paid full price ($48) for a job that was easily worth a MAXIMUM of 15$. I honestly only came here because I saw that the bad reviews were from when they had an old management. UPDATE!!!!! I ended up going in the day after my initial service and explained to the owner my frustration and that I was displeased with the job their nail tech had done. They offered to redo them no questions asked. Instead of soaking off the acrylic tips, the nail tech preceded to pry (yes pry) off my nail with another fake nail from her kit. I was yelping and clearly in pain. I asked her why she wasn't using acetone to soak them off and she said that's only used for when you've had the nails on a long time. I was in shock at her answer and made her stop and soak the rest off. After we got the old tips removed, I noticed the nail tech repeating the SAME mistake as the day before. I stopped her and called over the owner. The owner told her the correct way to do it and so she began doing the correct way. Since I was now missing several layers of my nail bed, my nails began to burn when she put on the new set. When it got time to do the dipping powder, the owner came to watch and was not happy at the job the nail tech was doing so she took over. I was happy this happened because I too was not happy at the job. Even the job the owner did was terrible. The French tip is messy, not clean lines. And the surface of the nail is not smooth. It's so uneven and bumpy. See photos below. Overall this place is just not trained properly on dipping powder or normal nail care. I spoke to some other nail techs and they agreed that the techniques that were used went against normal nail code removal. Original post: I hate leaving bad reviews but I'm so bummed I have to speak my peace. I've heard such good things about this place but was really let down today. I showed the technician the photo below of exactly what I wanted. Told her I didn't want them short but that exact length. She first filed them sharp and pointy and had to remind her I wanted them more soft, rounded and oval. She then filed them really short trying to achieve the oval. I asked many times to make them thinner but they look like fat candy corns. And there are soooooo many bubbles. You can see it even in the photo and it's not that closeup. I was in Santa Barbara for a wedding, so a week before I arrived I called TLC and made a reservation for a mani/pedi. When I arrived all of thee chairs were full and I was told it would be a bit of a wait. I waited 20 minutes past my appointment time. Then I was told that they would do the manicure and pedicure separately. The Manicure too about 30 minutes, than I had to wait another 2010-15 for a free pedicure chair. The pedicure took some time, especially since the woman who originally started messed it up and called someone else to fix it. two hours later and an hour and a half before the wedding, I finally left. I must say that i anticipated that it wouldn't last and the quality would be shoddy. I was wrong. Four days later and there is hardly a chip, impressive. I still doubt i would go back. I find it very frustrating when I make a point to plan ahead and my reservation is not upheld. If you have all day, check this place out. If not, go somewhere else. read more

This is Santa Barbara people! not LA or NY, don't expect the latest nail trends and techniques here. I see most of the lowly rated reviews come from clients from out of town or who are getting gell, acrylic, dip, powder fill ect. Other low reviewers say "pricey", again this is SB- it's going to be expensive. I agree that in LA the nail salons are all generally quicker, cheaper, and the finished product is better (but the salon is not always cleaner!). For a regular Mani/Pedi this place is great. Small salon (5 pedi chairs), friendly staff, and nice complimentary treats. I go in for regular pedicures exclusively. Nice working massage chairs avail and on the pricey side but average for Santa Barbara. My criteria for nail salons is VERY specific. -Cleanliness: This is a MUST. TLC uses a new pedicure basin for each service. The salon is clean overall as is the bathroom. -Service: Friendly staff, all hard-working ladies, family run. I've never had any complaints. -WiFi: Going into a nail salon is maintenance for me, not necessarily a leisurely experience. I am generally working on my phone while getting a pedicure. TLC has fast easy service avail. Treats: Great hot green tea, champagne, candies, and water all complimentary. I always ask for a cup of hot tea when I go. The massages are better than other places, but depends on the technician. read more

the most horrible nail experience i have ever encountered. for extensions to be removed, the woman did not soak in nail remover but warm water instead and buffed them so hard to remove them it hurt. when she was done the glue was still on my fingers and all of my nails weren't cut the same length. she kept pushing for me to get extensions again and didn't speak english so i just kept saying no for minutes on end. the final result with the glue still on the nails she didn't understand. i was charged $38 in total for this mess. beware. read more

This is one pricey nail shop costing $60 for a mani pedi but the polish brands are what set them a part. Their variety of colors are small but they have colors that are on trend. Plus I have never seen a place that offers designer polishes like Marc Jacobs, Dior, Butter, Deborah Lippmann, etc. buying one of these are $20 a bottle so it's nice to splurge here once in a while. Be sure to come in during the $38 cash special which I missed since I didn't see the fine print for the yelp deal (click on the deal) where it's only Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. I didn't have any issues like the other reviews stated. They offered me something to drink, provided decent flip flops to wear out that was actually ok to walk out into State Street without falling apart in 5 mins and placed my boots in a plastic bag.
