I had IPL done on my chest years ago at this clinic. I knew something was off about this doctor, now it's confirmed (after hearing about sexual abuse charges). I've had IPL done on my chest at other clinics and my breasts were NEVER exposed. Dr allen had me take off my top and sit upright with my eyes covered. This was the most bizarre technique I've ever experienced and knew I was being taken advantage of. He also told me I should have my lips filled, as I would look so much better. Don't go to this dude. Dr. Allen is a magician. After dieting and losing 25 lbs. my face was left sagging and empty looking. Dr. Allen lead me through a process that completely reversed this sagging and now I look 10 years younger. Let me tell you, the results are worth the investment. I chose the IPL treatment to tighten my skin on my face. I have a few light spots and apparently no rosacea. I wanted to get a fresher look but I am aware that many of these treatments are a slippery slope leading to more treatments and I tend toward a conservative approach. The Dr did a brief consultation telling me what options I had with IPL and covered some of the other treatments he could offer such as CO2 Laser resurfacing...Interesting and something to consider. As I had already made up my mind to do the IPL, the Dr. promptly took me into the treatment room and performed two passes. The first setting was at 40 (too light). The second pass was at a 44 setting (more intense but tolerable). Immediately, I saw results. The day after, my face itches as though I had a light windburn. Other than that, I was very pleased with the results. I wanted to wait at least a week to see what my skin would look like after seven days. I plan to have two more treatments at higher settings spaced about 4 to 6 weeks apart before summer is here. I can recommend this service and the fact that is is across the parking lot from my gym is a big plus. read more

i have a scar on my forehead that botox helps diminish the looks of. Dr Allen didn't in my opinion use sanitary procedure. Instead of having the botox in a sealed bottle, and using an alcohol swab to sterilize the rubber top, then inserting the needle through it to extract the solution, he popped the bottle open with his thumb (wearing no gloves, and didn't see him wash his hands) and extract the solution with an open bottle! I really should have said something, my bad, but I was just sort of shocked. He did swab my forehead, thank goodness. I also found him extremely rude- after keeping me waiting 20 minutes, he kept trying up-sell me on other procedures, which I kept having to politely turn down- I don't want a bunch of surgeries, just the botox for my scar! After the appointment, I couldn't find my groupon in my phone, he came out and asked what was the problem, he said that he didn't run a charity, I'd have to pay if I didn't find it. This was in front of other customers, I was very embarrassed! I finally found it, and had her scan it, I will never go back. read more

I am so pleased with the results I have had with Dr Allen. He and his staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They took their time to answer all of my questions, (they were very accommodating when I wanted to bring my hudband back with me to discuss the CO2 treatment I was considering). Following are brief descriptions of my experiences with NU U Laser. My initial visit to Nu U Laser was to have an update on my Botox. I had prior experience with Botox from another Portland area Dr. and those results were just "OK", but after receiving Botox from Dr. Allen I looked like I had had an eyebrow lift. It was amazing, even my husband was impressed. I never want anyone else to do my Botox again! While having the Botox treatment expressed to Dr. Allen that I had always wanted to have my lips done but never have because I did not want to look like a "duck", he assured me that with the proper placement of Juvederm I could achieve the full lip look I wanted without it looking "duckie". So trusting his expertise I decided to try it out... I cannot even begin to express how happy I am with my new lips! They are full and if I may be so bold BEAUTIFUL. I feel like I now have the lips I was always meant to have. And the best part is that they look VERY natural. I have also decided to have IPL and CO2 done by Dr. Allen. So far he has done one IPL treatment and that has gone well. It has been about a week since that treatment was completed and I did not experience any adverse effects like itching or redness. I purchased 2 groupons for 20 units Botox treatments per groupon. One for my friend and one for me. Typically I purchase more and have more areas done, but Dr Allen says he will only inject 20 units. HOWEVER, on arrival he was extremely pushy with both of us and insisted we needed more for just the one area. Before we knew it he had injected or pricked the sites - even though it was stated that he only injects 20 units! Neither of us have see the results expected or that we have previously experienced with the same or less units. He was so very quick, more like a prick rather than an injection. And both of us are in the same situation and feel as though we did not get what we paid for. Basically, by the time we bought the extra units we paid the normal or above normal price so no deal to be had and most importantly - zero satisfaction. We both feel as though we've been had! His entire focus was on up-selling to the point of telling the receptionist to book us in for our next treatment with a higher end procedure. Doctor was pushy to make you buy more ,and very rough, when I got my treatment, did not make me feel comfortable. Front desk lady wasn't friendly, and when I left he said something to her with a derogatory tone of voice like 'she is not buying anything else' , didn't even say good bye to me. I had been seeing Dr. Allen for around 3 or 4 years. He made me feel welcomed and comfortable during the first couple of visits but his attitude completely changed over time because I wasn't buying into any of his up sells. Heck, I have no fine lines or wrinkles whatsoever and he wanted me to buy 4 sessions of Sculptra as "preventative" treatments. And I absolutely agree with everyone else regarding their Groupon experience - I've bought their Groupon 3 times total and he totally looks down on you. Another thing - I went in for Botox the other day and he administered Dysport rather than Botox without asking me!! I came to know that he made the switch because he asked me to sign up for Galderma after he finished the session. That's just wrong!! Unless you are someone who's looking to do more stuff than the occasional Botox, do not expect to be treated with respect and care. If you are someone who gets Botox, please make sure you are actually getting Botox and not Dysport. Dysport acts quicker than Botox (3 days) but it doesn't last as long. This place is nice came here to get Botox between my brows. I was referred due to the great pricing. It's 2 months later and the lines between my brows are back. My previous Botox treatments would last almost 6 months before I started. I checked and got the same number of units at both places. I've always been told to be wary of places that don't mix the Botox in front of you. I believe I got Botox that had been diluted too much with saline. I will not return. read more

BEWARE!!! My experience has been horrendous! I went in for Botox on my forehead, my eyebrows and eyes are DROOPING to the point I can hardly open my eyes never mind apply makeup. I contacted them and they wanted me to come in to correct it. I have had two consultations and was told only time will correct this and not to go back. It's been weeks of applying hot and cold compress to stimulate the muscles. My intuition was telling me as I sat there and listen to the office staff argue over what and where they had injected into the women before me. I dont know why it has taking me so long to write a review now that I have been going to Dr Allen for awhile. I first started going to him for Botox since he had a groupon that was priced really well. I am from southern California where you can get Botox everywhere and when I moved to Portland I had a really hard time getting good Botox. I was so satisfied with my Botox that I continued coming to Dr Allen. I have now gotten Botox, fillers and a CO2 laser. I can not say enough good things about Dr Allen. He does amazing work. I was really hesitant about filler and he made me look very natural and you cannot tell I have had it. He is also not just out to make money. What a waste of time. I went for an IPL treatment. I told the doctor that I was familiar with this treatment, and had done two procedures in the past. He still indicated that he needed to do a "test" spot to see how my skin reacted. This turned out to be a 15 minute sales pitch on other procedures he performed. When he did do the procedure the setting was so low, I knew it was not going to be effective. I told the doctor and the technician the setting was too low, but they didn't make any adjustment. There was no change to the dark spots at all. A total waste of my money and time. read more

Don't go! This man is not even supposed to be "practicing" medicine with the criminal charges he has pending. I was one of the victims. I went to him for Botox, sculptra and other various things for about 5 years and tolerated the unwanted advances for far too long because he gave me "good deals" that he tried to attach strings to. My daughter accompanied me on a few of the appointments and even she got the creeps from him and asked why he seems to hit on me every time. That is when I was done and never returned. I was going to purchase a Groupon offered by this place that included 20 units of Botox or 60 units of dysport and 1 mL of Juvéderm for $604. I called and spoke with the receptionist at the office who assured me that I didn't need to purchase the Groupon in order to receive the deal so I set up an appointment and came in without having pre purchased anything. As you will read in many of the negative reviews Dr. Allen is both oddly inappropriate and very pushy to up sale. I am ashamed to say that $1350 later I had purchased two units of juvederm and what he claimed was 30 units of Botox for $1350 (if you do the math you realize that this is over $100 more expensive than if I had purchased two of the Groupon deals which would've been basically the same thing) at the end of the appointment Dr. Allen encouraged me to schedule a follow up appointment for a retouch because he assured me that I still had some extra Botox left because I had purchased more than he used and that would be saved exclusively just for me. A couple of weeks later upon arriving at the follow up appointment he asked me why I was there and when I reminded him that I had some Botox left he said there really was no such thing as having anything left over but that he would give me an extra 5 ml on the house. He also tried to upsell me on a three unit rounds of sculptra which I very politely declined. Also throughout the visit he kept referring to me a sweetheart and honey and kept asking me if I liked the way his receptionist face looked because he could make mine look the same way. Less than a month later the Botox had already stopped working upon researching this I found out that it's probably because he either use expired product or watered it down. I would never go to this place again. The only reason I'm even giving two stars is because I was actually pretty happy with the work he did on my cheekbones with the Juvéderm. He claims he used voluma but god only knows. If the way he oddly objectives you isn't enough the shady practices are for sure. read more

The absolute worst service and experience I have ever had with a Groupon, and I have been using Groupon for almost 8 yrs.Woman (girl) at front desk was rude and lacked the social graces to sweep a floor let alone deal with the public. I was hoping that the initial bad experience was a fluke and that the nurse(?) and doctor would make up up for the receptionist, but alas it was not to be. it just went downhill from there. After doing some paperwork a woman in bad 80's stretch pants and dangly gold bracelets pit me in a room where I was to wait form the doctor. I sat in that room for 45mins! I don't wait that long for the top notch Orthopedic surgeon in the city. The only reason I stayed was that I had my tablet with me and it kept me occupied, thank God. When the illustrious Dr. Feel God came in he didn't mention the tardiness so of course I did and he told me that he was worth waiting for. This made me wonder if he was in the back somewhere eating a sandwich while I waited for him., in order to look busy and important. Once he did enter the room he had the audacity to tell me that good doctors are those who are so busy that they can't help keeping patients waiting, and wouldn't I prefer to have a doctor like that instead of one who had an empty waiting room? I began to wonder if I was on an episode of "Punk'd" He then began to sell me on his amazing skills and wouldn't I want to spend 4,000.00 on Fillers? He was worse than a bad Jiffy Lube tech. Up sell, up sell, up sell! When the windbag was done he spent all of 30 seconds on the Botox and as a result a week later my right eyebrow is practically on my hairline while my left one is normal. he was so horrible I would rather pay to have it fixed somewhere else than deal with him again. overall worse Botox experience ever, worse Groupon experience ever. i have been a patient of dr allen's for over two years, receiving botox, ipl's (two different types) and microfractional laser. the difference in my appearance is, according to friends and coworkers, dramatic. the staff, both at the vancouver and beaverton offices, are laid back and never snooty or fake. they are very helpful in explaining procedures and give good advice regarding services offered. dr allen also is easy to approach, and if you rib him enough you can get him to laugh:) Nu U often has VIP specials, such as laser hair removal, botox and laser resurfacing. call the office and ask to be put on the VIP text list to be notified. read more

I had 60 units of Dysport injected and 1 cc of Juviderm I purchased on a Groupon plus $125 worth of additional Dysport units injected Sept 28, 2016 and already my forehead looks like a Sharpe. The doctor kept saying while he was doing the injections,"I am quick, see how good I am?" That being said quick plus being discounted = no thank you! Now I have to go pay full somewhere else and it has been only 2 months. My advice is do not go here. He burns them and churns his clients. He has no desire to build long term clients in my opinion. "Great", I thought, "This place is not far from my home, they're advertising at $10 a unit, AND they are giving me my 1st 20 units for $179!" So, I arrive at my 3:15 appointment and after filling out my paperwork, a very nice lady, sat me down in the room, and asked me what I needed done. Now I have been receiving Botox off and on for 11 years, and know about how many units I need and what areas. After I communicated with her, she told me that, "administrating Botox is the doctor's least favorite thing to do. He is currently working with Bellafill, have you heard of it?" No, but I'll listen. Then she proceeds to tell me about how using this to correct my lines instead of Botox will save me a lot of $ in the long run. Asked me how much I spent a year on Botox. No. I didn't want to go there. Please just do the work, and charge me for Botox, seriously . I politely declined, and then the doctor came in. Introduced himself, then proceeded to tell me about this filler, and how it was a better option than Botox and, "more affordable in the long run". Even though I told him, "no", and it was out of my budget, he then did math problems, showing me what I am currently spending and how much money I will save even 10 years from now if I go with this filler, which costs more than the Botox. He would not let it go. I was getting increasingly agitated with this guy. I said that "I just want Botox", THEN as he is removing a syringe from a packet, he starts to say to me, "Do me a favor. When you get home today.."-and that's when I cut the guy off. Seeing this A-hole, (who advertises Botox groupons, yet apparently it's his, "least favorite thing to do"), holding a needle literally made me leap up and say, "I am not doing this". I was pissed he didn't listen, pissed that he was so patronizing, and pissed that I didn't get my treatment. Also: I would advise the doctor to try to know your audience. I was so blindsided by this lack of professionalism, that had he bothered to look at me in the eye, he would have known when to cut it out. He didn't though. One receptionist told me I can go ahead and use the Groupon voucher for Botox even though it had been 4 months since my last Groupon use (the Groupon says you have to wait 6 months in between using Groupon). A different receptionist checked me in for my appt (I know this due to the accent). She refused to honor the Groupon. I suggested she look up the person who scheduled me because she needs to be re-trained. This receptionist treated me like I was lying, said "we are all trained on our strict policy of waiting 6 months". She was harsh with her tone of voice and condescending. I did not lie. I purchased a groupon for Botox and visited the Vancouver facility. The office was nice and the receptionist was friendly. The doctor seemed rushed and was a bit stand-off-ish, it almost seemed like he was annoyed I had purchased a groupon. Needless to say, he lead me from one room where I waited for about 5 minutes to another room where he preformed the botox. He asked me where I wanted the 20 units of Botox and I said in half in my crows feet area and half in my brow area. He said "no" I can't do that it's only 20 units for one area. I proceeded to tell him that 20 units works great for me spilt between and have had it done 5 times before by other certified doctors. He proceeded to tell me that its FDA regulated that he treat each area w 20 units and won't do it any other way. I told him I want it split between both areas and he even went so far to say I'll show u the literature where it says I can't administer less than 20 units. So I was very dissatisfied and believe he was trying to get me to buy more units. It felt like the groupon was a ploy to up sell which I was not falling for. I ended up getting one area done and am defiantly not going back. I even tried to ask him about other skin issues and he didn't want to hear it after I refused his up sell. This office is dirty, as soon as I saw it I regretted my purchase immediately. The Dr is very unprofessional and pushy. He tried to talk me into putting Botox and filler where I didn't want it, and tried to convince me that he couldn't split the units (like other Drs have for me in the past.) Any other time I have gotten filler or Botox in the past, the Dr would using a numbing agent and give me ice for the swelling. When I asked for ice he hesitantly said he "could give it to me- but that I shouldn't need it." Hours later my face is more swollen than I've ever seen it before, where I'm actually concerned. I don't understand his refusal as online medical notes suggest to icing the area immediately to prevent swelling. I bought a Groupon in order to get botox for my frown lines between my eyes. That part worked very well. HOWEVER, I can no longer open my eyes to apply eye shadow or easily put in and remove contact lenses. Also, one eye is pulled to the hairline, giving me a lopsided look. I explained to the receptionist what the problem was and she booked me for a touch up appointment. I told Dr. Allen that I had had botox for 17 years and had never had a problem before. He said my eyes not being able to open was "completely normal" and that all these doctors in the past (and I quote) "hadn't used enough botox". He said if you can raise your eyebrows even a little, then you can frown. That is NOT TRUE! In the past, doctors have erased my frown lines completely and yet I had a completely natural look regarding my eyebrows. I suspect he could have made a few more injections to lift my eyebrows back to normal, but he refused. I just want to warn other people. I'm not sure if paying less via Groupon entered into his refusal to fix the problem. I'm just grateful that this stuff wears off!! read more

I just had to post a review as I feel like I was totally "sold" the last time I went into Nu U Laser. My first time I went in because I had a Groupon for Botox/Dysport. After a short and friendly consultation Dr. Allen said he recommended Dysport instead of Botox and felt it did a better job so I did Dysport (although I've always done botox). When I found another Groupon for a SmartSkin CO2 laser resurfacing I decided to go in for a consultation to learn more about it. He was again very nice and friendly but instead of telling me more about the CO2 laser eye treatment convinced me that I should do Sculptra and had to get it quickly as they had a special that was ending in 6 weeks. I felt a bit pressured and he seemed so sure this is what I should get done that I had him do the Scultra for $600 (that is the special price). He said that for my skin/age I should have 5 injections done in total (each costing $600 on special for the first three then $750 for the last 2 injections). He said over and over, seriously about 5 times, that this would last for 5 years and was a better was for me to proceed. After I went home I decided to research Scultra more thoroughly and I was very upset about what I found. People are getting lumps and nodules under their skin that won't go away and some have to be surgically removed. Others were getting open sores and lesions and their skin and face was horribly disfigured. Every site I researched also said that it ONLY LASTS 2 YEARS. Not 5 years like he told me several times (5 times). I decided to then research his background and credentials and was shocked to learn that his degrees are in Allergy and Immunology, nothing in cosmetic procedures or plastic surgery. At this point I was furious and scared having done the one injection of Sculptra. I did the massaging as I was told to do and my face hurt for 5-6 days and bruised. I was upset at myself for allowing him to "sell me" on this without doing my typical due dilligence and research. I went in to speak with him about an eye treatment and left doing Sculptra in the cheeks and chin area. He did not even care what I really came in for, he wanted to see me this Sculptra procedure. He also showed my his phone text that he was "named or awarded" as the third most highly rated for injections. Yes, he showed me a text. It could have been a text from his daughter for all I know. Needless to say I call and cancelled the rest of my appointments and told Heather the front office admin the reason why I was cancelling. She gave me Dr. Allen's phone number to call him directly and I am going to call him personally and speak with him about my dissatisfaction with the service/consultation and how I felt pressured into getting something I didn't want. I doubt he will compensate me in any way but I am calling him to discuss. He is not qualified to do these and should be giving more information about what Sculptra really is and the pro's and con's to this product. Please do your own research before you buy into anything. I am normally so good and this and never get "pressured" or "sold to" by anyone but I felt nervous and embarrassed and just did it without thinking. So, I too came in with a Groupon for just Botox. Dr. Allen was not pushy at all, but let me know that Botox was not going to address the concerns I had with the "II" in between my brows. I had Botox last year before my wedding and it did some, but the filler Dr. Allen suggested was exactly what I needed. I saw immediate results and I wish the last MD had told me that is what I needed to get the results I wanted. I am the most frugal person out there, don't wear make-up and am so pleased. Nice staff doctor seems knowledgeable and friendly. Made some treatment reccomendations for the future and was not pushy about it. I went on a Groupon and I liked that I was not treated like a second class citizen. So often you're not treated well on these groupons and you wonder why are they running a special don't they realize it's an opportunity to try out your services and see if they want to come back? I don't know about the results but certainly NOT impressed with the experience! The doctor, without introduction, walked me back for Dysport Groupon while texting. He had my paperwork blocking the phone while continuing to text though talking to me to see about my New Year. He filled a couple of syringes, grabbed my arm to inject a free filler to see if I was allergic, rubbed a couple of my facial areas with alcohol, injected and escorted me out ALL in less than 1 minute. He certainly was NOT looking for repeat business! I had purchased a microdermabrasion with the Dysport as well. I was contacted and told the gal was out sick and couldn't perform the microdermabrasion. I explained taking time off work wasn't terribly convenient for a second visit so they offered additional units instead. I was given "5 units free". I would rank the doctor as "off the charts awful" as it relates to awareness, results oriented, interaction with client, time taken, explanation, concern, consideration ... shall I go on? Not to dismiss the cordial gal in the front office (not). She too had the presence of a smirking Smurf. She didn't acknowledge me when I walked in (no one else around), I gave my name and she handed me a clipboard to say "fill this out". I brought it back and she said, "you're not done". Asked for Botox to rid my frowning "11's" in between my eyes. He put the Botox in the wrong spot! So now I can't raise my eyebrows. Which would be great if I asked for that. I have gotten Botox for this area multiple times by other providers with no problem so I know how to explain what I want. When I went back to complain about my results (can't raise my brows/ still have "11's) he told me that I must have changed my mind and that he did what I asked. HE DID NOT DO WHAT I ASKED FOR. I would NEVER ask for Botox in that area. He then gave me 20 units for free to rid of that area I originally came in for. (Regretting even letting him do this) But he kept trying to convince me that this is what I want and I kept trying to tell him that it most definitely was not what I asked for and not what I wanted. I am 27! This was preventative! So for the next 3-6 months I won't be able to move my eye brows or forehead. I will not go back to him and would never recommend. I would give zero stars but that is not an option. I have post dramatic stress syndrome from seeing Dr Allen. Do not see this guy! I was trying to save money. Got a botox groupon and while there he convinced me to try bellafill for $1,000. Way overpromising the results. Worst mistake of my entire life! He put the filler in places in my face we had not agreed to. I had a horrible huge scab between my eyes for two weeks afterwards, that turned into a bad scar. When I called the office worried, they said I couldn't talk to the doctor I had to send an email. When I emailed he never responded. I made a follow up appointment. At the follow up appointment he was 20 minutes late. He was the one to open up the office and he opened it up 20 minutes late. At first he denied getting my email, and then he had the nerve to check for it in front of me and found it. He briefly said sorry. He told me to wait six months and my face would look better. NOT.
