There's nothin' like a homemade hot breakfast and this place delivers. We ordered the "House Favorite" which is pretty much your simple eggs, bacon, & hash browns, and two sides of their sausage patties (each side comes with two). The food comes out hot and well seasoned. The sausage was was steaming hot like they had just come out of the oven. The portions are well sized, especially the hash browns. It is located in what seems to be an old double-wide trailer next to some horses in the rural hills of New Mexico. It is fitting. All the surroundings give it the perfect rustic appeal. This place is very interesting. You drive through the desert to find this local spot where they serve meals through their kitchen (or so it seems). They also have their own horse farm which is by the parking lot. Tips: 1. Download the google map so you're not lost!! 2. BRING CASH (or check they say). Credit/debit cards are NOT acceptable lol. 3. Reservations preferred. We arrived around 1pm and there were 4 groups of customers including us. The hostess aka waitress aka manager seemed very overwhelmed by the last wave of customers that entered and ordered around the same time. Yesterday, we drove to La Luz to eat a belated anniversary lunch at Nuckleweed Place. The many GOOD reviews were accurate. My wife had the twist sandwich (turkey, bacon, spinach and swiss cheese) with potato salad and I had the prime rib sandwich with potato salad. Both of the sandwiches were excellent and the potato salad was also very tasty. The amount of meat in the prime rib sandwich was amazingly abundant. The service was outstanding. Two things to keep in mind when visiting Nuckleweed Place are: Reservations and bring Cash or a Checkbook. Another thing to remember is that they are only open for breakfast and lunch on Saturdays and Sundays, and dinners on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. read more

We had cinnamon French toast this came with scrambled eggs & 2 huge pieces of sausage . The French toast was amazing ! It is with thick bread with a cinnamon crust. Delicious ! It came with 3 pieces . We also ordered a cinnamon roll. This was huge ! It had pecans & raisins & was served warm. My husband got a ham & cheese mushroom tomato omelette with hash browns . Tried this place for the first time for lunch. They had one server who seemed overwhelmed even though they only had two tables of customers. We got the chicken fried steak and the Monte Cristo sandwich. They were not what we were expecting but were basically good. The chicken fried steak was made with ground beef, not the traditional cube or round steak. The mashed potato's and gravy that came with it was good. The Monte Cristo sandwich was also good but not what was expected. It was basically a ham sandwich on Texas toast. It was not deep fried like the Monte Cristo I have had in the past. This is a cash only restaurant and you will not find an atm nearby ! Just a heads up ! Other than that the portions here are HUGE. We didn't know what to expect so when we first ordered we ordered way too much. Now we know that their portions are bigger so we order only what we can eat. If you have any left over food, they will wrap it in a cute little swan made of foil. Unfortunately they don't have " to go " orders or boxes to take home left overs. What a find! We have recently moved to Alamogordo and although there are all the usual " commercial " names where one can eat .... None of them really appeal.
