We thought it was peanut butter noodle but it didn't really taste peanut buttery so we may have read the dish wrong. So if you're looking for more peanut butter flavor, don't get that noodle dish. THE BLACK AND WHITE: The wife and I came here after a Luche Libre show and still hungry. We got a table outside and was perusing through the menu before the owner brought us up to where the chefs were and gave us a show on how they made their birria soup dumplings. We got the leche de tigre and beef tail baos. Both presentations were great, I really enjoyed the leche de tigre ceviche. A must get! What an incredible find! My husband and I stumbled upon this place walking around Roma Norte after a Luche Libre show. We were able to snag a table right before the kitchen closed. The menus has a ton of asian fusion/seafood dishes and an array of cocktails. After placing our order, the serve asked us if we wanted a tour of the kitchen. They brought us upstairs, where it was very hot, talked about their ingredients and allowed us to sample a dumpling. The dumpling was try, but the experience in itself was interesting. For drinks, I tried the elderflower spritz. I didn't like it that much, but an interesting alternative to an aperol spritz. For dinner, we had the baos and the leche de tigre. BOTH WERE INCREDIBLE! Outstanding flavor, presentation and swift service. After our meal, they gave us a few chocolates to try. Loved Nugo Nego and highly recommend if you're in the area. read more

I found Nudo Negro while visiting Mexico City last year, and it was one of the best dining experiences I had during my trip! I snagged an outdoor reservation, and the service was welcoming and attentive throughout my visit. I appreciated the brief tour of the kitchen at the start of the meal, getting to observe how they made a tasty dumpling de res. Everything I ordered show an attention to detail and texture, starting with the dumplings de pozole and carrying through the seafood dishes. The octopus was tender while the camarillos de curry y jerez was flavorful and confirmed for me how wonderful the entire meal was. AMAZING. We showed up and not only had delicious food, but was invited up to the kitchen to get a taste of freshly prepared dumplings. The staff was INCREDIBLY friendly and absolutely gave us one of the highlights of our entire Mexico City trip. We came to Mexico City without any restaurant reservations but really wanted to have a nice dinner one night and found most places with a tasting menu had no reservations within the month... except this gem. This place blew us out of the water. Everything we tried was delicious and the presentation was impeccable. My travel companion usually doesn't like seafood but even enjoyed the jumbo shrimp. This is a very challenging review to write. We came as a party of three on a Friday evening. All three of us elected to get the 10 course tasting menu with pairings. The first course was excellent! We were taken to the kitchen where the staff greeted us in unison. A very sweet cook in the kitchen assembled our first dish before our eyes. It was a delicious dumpling served in a spicy sauce. She had the best smile and seemed very kind. It was a perfect way to start. I wonder why more restaurants don't use this for a tasting menu? We returned to our table and two more courses arrived. Still no drinks to pair with them. Finally Mexican sake was delivered. Another course came and then some rosé wine. And then another course. Some of the courses good, some not so good. But we did inquire why we were not receiving pairings. Apparently the restaurant's policy is that you get a spirit with roughly every other dish. The pours were very small and never lasted for more than one dish. One of the five drinks was a small cup of beer? Clearly this isn't a great deal. We thoroughly enjoyed some courses, others not so much. The pace of the meal was the biggest problem. Our waiter was trying very hard. He Just had way too many tables to attend to. I appreciated his efforts, but the pairings were not coming out with the food, and it was very difficult to get a refill of water or a fresh napkin. Plus we just got tired of waiting for very long periods (sometimes twenty minutes) with no beverage and no food. In the end, this wasn't a terrible meal, but I don't think the restaurant is prepared to handle a tasting menu. At $93 USD per person after tip, I couldn't recommended the tasting menu. But it's a charming restaurant with pleasant staff. Perhaps next time I'd give the à la carte menu a try. read more

Not sure how this place rang up so many great reviews ? Went on a weekday night and it was empty. Tried the tasting menu but it was not only way overpriced (over $100 per person) even by international standards, but the quality of food was pathetic: some dishes would consist of one small thick-skinned over fried dumpling like the ones served in cheap Chinese takeouts ? There was also more showmanship than substance to many of the dishes. And no, this is fusion but in a bad way. Probably worse dining experience and certainly worst value proposition for a restaurant in CDMX that we have tried. Many better and more honest options nearby. Would stay away. read more

Nudo Negro is an excellent value based on straight courses. 10 courses for $35 can't be beat but maybe it's me but Nudo Negro just made me want a bowl of noodles. Pros: The service was attentive. There were many courses. The amuse bouche was delicious. The cocktails were made artfully, tableside. The restaurant was quiet and peaceful with simple decorations. Cons: We had to ask several times to even get the prix fixe menu. The courses were three bites and nothing to me tasted better than the original amuse bouche. The micheladas did not resemble the bloody Mary's with beer that I think of in the US. They constantly reassured me the dishes were not spicy - but I think they could have used a few chili peppers. I'm glad I went but I have no urge to return. It was definitely more expensive than most other places I went to in Mexico City. Asian fusion is challenging as for me, it makes me just want straight Asian. If you're like me in that sense, then you're probably better off eating Mexican food while visiting Mexico and heading to the SGV in Los Angles to feast in a later trip. read more

After we ordered, we were invited to the upstairs kitchen, where one of the sous chefs prepared a little broth-based amuse bouche for us. Not only was this one of the best meals we had on our trip (and we had some excellent food) but the service was incredible! Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. When one of the items we wanted was not available, not only did he recommend a great alternative, but he made it up to us by introducing us to the chef and giving us a free appetizer. True fusion was defined here. Out of six of us, all dishes were totally different, ranging from Tofu, to Tip Sirloin in a taco side, to Mole, to dumplings, to Bun-like tacos, all wide ranging dishes! We wanted to eat with our friend's dog and had to move outside (not a big deal for any of us) , and overall, nothing prevented us from being well taken care of from the staff. A wide range of music such as The Romantics, to Elvis,, to the Beatles, and even with sitting outside the warmth was great! Great location, great offer to see the upstairs prep food area, and great staff that waited on us hand and foot with much hospitality! The desserts were as varied as the main food, making this a unique and quality choice for a great evening, with great friends and participants. Let me just say, my husband and I got here a little early for dinner and the place looked empty except for one table... I was dubious. Then we sat down and the waiter asked my name and arranged my napkin, I was thinking "wow, that's very fancy." Then our waiter invited us up to the kitchen to have an appetizer prepared and explained by the chef in the kitchen complementary... and I thought "They must think we are someone else, maybe a famous food critic?" Turns out, everyone gets star treatment here!!! The kitchen is open and they staff is very friendly. The menu says that they don't care about manners they just want you to experience the food and feel welcome!! Wow! What a FABULOUS Surprise! I stopped in off the street and OMG! Everything I tasted was divine. Really 5 Star! I recommend hands down the fresh barbecue oysters. Not only is this place still open, it is pretty darn great. A local recommended it to me as a place for a "nice dinner" while in DF. With the plastic tented smoking area and the patio-style furniture, it doesn't really draw you in from the street and looks a little sports bar-ish. The inside has some unique decor touches, though, and an interesting setup with the kitchen in an upstairs loft. Yelp has this listed as Mexican, but it is really Mexican-Asian fusion. The menu has a lot of great-sounding things on it and I couldn't decide, so I did the tasting menu. (I was dining alone and was happy to see that they don't do that X-person minimum thing for tasting menu.) Like others mentioned, I was invited up to see the kitchen, and the chef prepares and serves you the amuse bouche up there. Slightly awkward, especially when you don't speak much Spanish, but also a cool and novel idea. All of the ten courses were, at a minimum, very good, and a few were truly excellent. The presentation was the best part- super inventive and thoughtful. There was a little bit of everything- various seafood, different meats, soup, etc.- on the menu, and I felt like it really gave a good idea of what the chef and the restaurant are about- a tasting menu in the truest sense. At about $35 US, it's obviously quite expensive for Mexico, but probably a good value compared to some of the other upscale restaurants people recommend- Pujol, etc., which are $100+. I wasn't planning on drinking, but I was sort of coaxed into getting a cocktail with gin and fresh fruit that was muddled table-side on a little bar cart. Like the kitchen thing, maybe a little gimmicky, but also sincere and cute, and the drink was nice. The service was good, but a little disjointed. Different people brought different courses- some explained them and some didn't, some took utensils when taking plates, some forgot to bring new utensils with the next plate, etc. But better too many waitstaff than not enough, right? One of the waiters, Ismael (sp?), was particularly professional/friendly and chatted with me (in English) for a while, which is really nice when you're eating alone. Despite there being no shortage of good restaurants in Mexico City, it's highly likely that I'll repeat this one if in town again. read more

Felt like and treated like family and the first taste was very deep with flavor. A coworker and I had the sampler. A nearly endless variety of dishes each with its own unique flavor and presentation. Me: This restaurant is called "Not Black?" That sounds rather racist. Maybe we shouldn't eat here...but it's Mexican-Asian fusion and it got really good reviews! So if your Spanish is as bad as mine, let me clarify that the name of this restaurant is Black Knot--LOL. I'm glad my husband and I decided to dine here because this was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had in all of my travels! The menu has Asian touches throughout, and the menu is rather extensive so you will definitely be able to find something. Nudo Negro is in the hipster neighborhood of Roma, and it's within walking distance to Mercado Roma so you can hit both places. They have an English menu here, and the wait staff made us feel so welcome. Our waiter, Luis, came over and invited us up to the kitchen to meet the chef and watch him make our amuse bouche, which was a wagyu beef skewer with Indonesian spices. We felt like we were getting the royal treatment, but turns out that they treat everyone this way! Food: -Grilled oysters with samba, beef suadero, bone marrow, and wasabi (~$11 USD): If you like oysters, you must get this! The oysters came in a box of salt and the sauce is delicious with the bone marrow and chili. I ended up dipping the octopus in the sauce too. -Golden crisp octopus with chayote root & cardamom rice (~$12.50 USD): I really like octopus, but I didn't love the sauce on this octopus dish. I also love cardamom, but the cardamom in the rice didn't do much for me. I think it's just me though because this is one of their popular dishes. -Duck dumplings with kaffir lemon, almond milk, hazelnut oil, green beans, and seta mushrooms (~$14 USD): OMG...I see why this is one of their popular dishes. The creamy almond sauce with the hazelnut oil is sweet while the green beans and mushrooms with soy sauce add the savory component to this dish. They also don't skimp on the filling as you can see in the picture. If you're new to duck or not a big fan of it, this is a great way to get acquainted since the duck flavor isn't strong. Service: -We never felt like tourists in here; in fact, we felt like family as everyone was friendly and kind. The service here is classy though (e.g. changing plates, putting your napkin on your lap, etc.). They even give you a complimentary dessert to show their appreciation of your business! -Portions are reasonable and the food is meant for sharing. Yes, the prices are high for Mexico City, but I definitely think it matches the quality and service that you get. read more

Amazing ten course sampler! The service was incredible. My bone marrow didn't have a lot of filling so my server noticed and brought me a new one on his own initiative. Everything was so beautiful and intricate for $35 plus the cocktails were wonderful. Our vegetarian friend got the Korean stew vegetarian and also loved her dish! It was filling and only about $7.
