We decided to give Nuevo Vallarta a try again as it used to be our favorite restaurant. I had the Pollo Fundido because I wanted to try something different. My husband got his usual of an enchilada and a burrito. He said his food was basic at best. Mine was different. I never expected to be served sliced American cheese over the top of my Mexican food. I couldn't believe that I was seeing like Velveeta slices on top of my food. Their quality has really tanked. The chicken inside the tortillas was super dry. To get to stores for their fast and friendly service. However if you want good Mexican food this is not the place to go. read more

There's only two Mexican restaurants in Pullman and I would say that this is the better one. Rancho may have a larger drink selection, but the quality and consistency of the Mexican food here is what keeps me coming back. My boyfriend and I go here about once a week and the food has ALWAYS been excellent whether we come during lunch, midday, dinner, or half an hour before they close. The Mexican food is always great, but do not try and order any of the American food such as a burger and fries. My boyfriend got that once and it was not appetizing at all. He always finishes his plate, but he couldn't stand to finish the burger or the fries. The service here is also excellent. There are 3 male servers and all are extremely nice, and will even hook you up sometimes. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place. In the last three years of my daughter going to WSU, we had not been here. It is a fairly straight forward Mexican restaurant and satisfies the craving. I had the enchiladas verdes with chicken and they were fine but could have used a little bit more sauce. My daughter had the Carne Asada burrito which was fabulous. The burrito was huge and the meat inside was seasoned and cooked perfectly. Also it was nice that all of their Mexican beers or $3.25. This restaurant is very well run. The staff is super friendly and the inside is decorated with plants and all sorts of colorful hand-painted booths. It was a nice surprise on the Palouse. read more

The food is 4 star while the service is nothing short of 5 star. We are regulars here, and it's the best Mexican in Pullman, in our family's opinion. Unless your out of options for places to eat, don't eat here. This is American Mexican food. So don't expect authentic at all. The salsa tastes like a mix of canned tomato sauce and tabasco. Why give it 2 stars then? The servers are so friendly and service is pretty quick. Pricing is average. Large menu and great service, the margaritas were a little warm and maybe even watered down? Had to order another shot to add to the medium size.... so that's a disappointment. The food was ok, just felt like it was a bit bland . Ordered the super loaded nachos with chicken that was good but the actual chips were so soggy half the dish was a waste. Also had the steak Vallarta burrito. I felt like it was a Mexican philly cheese steak, won't order that again. Thankfully we also ordered the tortilla soup, that was the best dish by far! I've had good and bad experiences at this restaurant. Definitely nothing consistent. The parking lot kind of sucks and the food is just your basic Mexican food. I always get enchiladas and tamales, and they are both pretty darn good here. If you call for takeout it is done super fast, and will be ready to go by the time you get there. Even after spending 18 years of my life in Arizona, Nuevo is one of the best Mexican restaurants. I usually keep it simple with the two enchilada combo or tamale and enchilada. The margaritas are cheap and offer a variety of flavors. read more

We recently dropped our son off to school here and decided to try a few of the restaurants. By far, the food here was great, the service fast, and the drinks were good. I am not understanding why the reviews for only 3 stars as we are from Los Angeles and the Bay Area and both areas have very fine Mexican restaurants which we've frequented. Plan on returning with family/friends as we visit Pullman for the next 4 or 5 years. Great place! read more

Excellent meal. My wife and I got lunch to go and ate it at home. We both had #25 - three entree, you pick. I had a ground beef burrito, a ground beef enchilada, and a cheese enchilada. In addition to the rice and beans that come with the meal, we also had an extra side of rice with it. It was a lot of food, but that was great, because we had some for dinner that way too. I will keep it very short.. I try arroz con pollo every from every mexican restaurant as I love that dish.. In this restaurant (if I am allowed to say so), it was the worst I mean, it had like a pound of salt in it and weird cheese and the veggies smelled like they have been cut for like a day and frankly it tasted like S***, literally (YUUUUUK).. Those 14 bucks am never getting back. If you LIKE this restaurant and DON'T agree with my review, just spend couple dollars of gas and go to the mexican restaurant in Moscow (casa something), you will know how Good is different from evil, how food heaven is different from food hell.. Nuevo is so perfect every time we go in! We eat here a few times a week. The food smells and tastes delicious every time! The waiters are really friendly too, they know us by name. When I first saw this place I thought it might be a small taco shack or something. Nope! Its a full restaurant with plenty of room for everyone. The staff here are super friendly and welcoming and always greet me with a warm smile. Second, the prices here are awesome! Most Mexican restaurants I go to I end up spending around 50$ for me and my girlfriend. Here we both ordered drinks, an appetizer, and two entrees and walked out about $35 short. Not bad especially considering how great the food was! All hand made from scratch. I had a shrimp enchilada which is my favorite dish from any restaurant and I thought their version was fantastic! I also highly recommend that everyone tries the Mexican pizza. If I order takeout I always get a large and they are great leftovers. Nuevo Vallarta is a restaurant full of vibrant colors, paintings, and music. This restaurant has great sitting space considering its relatively small location. It is located on the busy street of Grand Avenue but the amount of business that this restaurant has is actually really good. Although there is a lot of sitting space it is a bit crowded inside but nothing to really complain about, at least on my part. But if being a somewhat crowded space is not to your liking I would not recommend, otherwise the space is great. They have great staff and great service, the employees are super sweet and very attentive! I did not have to ask for my drinks to be refilled nor did I have to ask for more chips or salsa. They check-up on you every so often where you don't feel annoyed but you also don't feel neglected. The staff is always available to make you feel very welcome by starting up a nice conversation and I personally love that. I never once felt like they didn't cater to my needs; it was great customer service. They have music in the background and I am a fan of their music selection. If you are not a fan of music in another language you are probably going to have an issue, but I do believe you can request for them to change the music selection; I'm sure they would not hesitate to change that for their customers. Food is honestly great, I had the carne asada. The meat was well cooked like I asked; not burnt nor uncooked. The meat was super juicy not dry nor chewy, it had such a great flavor and it wasn't salty, a plus for me since I am not a fan of salt, but if you are there is always the option of adding salt to your liking. The rice was well cooked, nice and soft not dry or hard, the re-fried beans as well. If you are not a fan or rice or beans you can always ask for them to skip that; they are very good when it comes to your requests. If you like to add some heat to your food you should absolutely try their chiles toreados. They are so good and so spicy for those who like food more on the spicy side. Their piña colada was so delicious. It was sweet and creamy not watered down at all. One thing on the menu that I was oh so very happy about is that they now carry my favorite drink which is Jarritos; it's just like a soda but stronger on the flavor they are delicious; if you ever go I definitely recommend that you order that! Price range was reasonable, for example, the carne asada was $14.75, the piña colada was $4.95, and the Jarritos were $2.25, not too pricy. But not a place I would attend daily because the portion of food that you will receive is very generous. I have gone to other Mexican restaurants around the area like Rancho Viejo and the food especially the carne asada can be a little too cooked and seem almost burnt and some of their drinks are either really watered down or super strong to the point where all you can taste is plain alcohol. This might not be an issue for some but it was not of my liking. So coming here and getting great food plus great service was the best thing ever, made me miss home a little less.
