I live closer to a half dozen other markets (including Whole Foods and Trader Joe's) but I've been driving right by them for many years to go to Nugget instead. The staff is the nicest of any grocer I've been to, their meat counter is always helpful and offers to go above and beyond for our international cooking needs (they've offered to freeze meat to do special cuts for us! We do it ourselves instead, but I was very appreciative of the offer.) Even though it's not the largest store the variety is fantastic for those of us who cook ethnic foods. I particularly enjoy their prepared meals for times when I want to have something for my family at home but not have to cook; delicious and reasonably priced meals are always available. When I'm checking out the clerks genuinely make me feel that they care when they ask how my shopping trip was, from the most experienced clerk to the younger clerks. This is perhaps the most important point, as Nugget is doing an amazing job of instilling good work ethics in the youth of Novato. As someone who also works with the public in Marin I appreciate when a business can help shape our youths to be helpful citizens, and ultimately good neighbors. Whoever is doing the training deserves accolades. That my family also sees Nugget as "our grocery store" says it all, in my opinion. read more

I do like this market, a lot. For some reason I had issues with the previous market and I think I carried those through to Nugget. I'm over that now, I'm Corey and I'm marketholic. From the deli, to the meat department to the fresh vegetables, they are all serving some really great products. There is everything here you want or need, from coffee to a bakery, hot and cold foods, a good wine and beer selection and everything in between. A good mix of organic items in many of the departments. The ready to go aisle is great for a quick meal. While you might get better prices at some bigger chains, the quality you get here is worth it and they have more than one checkout aisle open unlike other stores. I highly suggest Nugget for quick pickup of items to normal shopping. read more

I love this Supermarket! I discovered this place attending the Space Festival next door. Very popular store in Novato. They have unique dishes and reasonable prices. Wish I had one near me in LA. I got the prepared Salmon with rice and veggies for $12 and it was great. I heated it up in their micro and sat inside and had a great meal. They have many other pre-prepared meals. They have all the stuff Whole Foods has, but I like it better here for most things. Employees here are nice and courteous. Well run operation. read more

I have been meaning to write this review for over a year. If you decide to go to the deli counter for a sandwich or sliced meat or cheese be prepared to wait A VERY VERY LONG TIME. 20 mins minimum. It doesn't matter if it's rush hour or absolutely empty. You will be waiting and waiting and waiting. It's also about a 50% chance you receive what you ordered. read more

This is my second review of Novato's Nugget Market - I first reviewed about four years ago, after we moved here. In the ensuring years, we've been absolutely delighted with Nugget, in every way, from an eclectic selection of both staples and specialty items, to the absolutely stellar and personal service, both throughout the store and at the checkout counters. During COVID, Nugget was the one staple we could really count on to deliver - like other markets, they suffered from the Supply Chain issues around paper goods and some food items, but with a few exceptions, we could always find what we need. I'm loathe to call out one specific area of Nugget that is better than the rest, but here are a few highlights: -The meat/seafood counter is terrific. Never even a mediocre purchase in 4 years; there are also items priced for every budget. And there's almost always someone available to help, save for crazy holiday lineups. -The cheese counter keeps getting better. Probably 4 stars when we first arrived, but seriously it's now better (for me) than Whole Foods Novato, and with Edgar and team running the show, there's almost always something new or exciting for all sorts of tastes. I'm kind of a cheese nut so my expectations are high; Woodlands Larkspur is probably Marin's #1 in terms of diverse selections, but Nugget is getting closer. -The deli section, where I've had some pretty epic waits and sometimes no help in the past, is much better. The sandwiches are great; they're up to 4 stars in my book. -Liquor/beer/wine - BJ is an absolutely stellar guy and a real professional at his craft. Great, diverse selection, and he definitely makes the best of his space. The Triple IPAs are killer. I could keep going. Even the support crew is amazing - keeping the carts and baskets clean, monitoring lines during COVID lockdown periods (but in general, the store is large enough for separation), always smiling, always ready to help. To us, Nugget is more than a market - it's ingrained in our fabric, an intrinsic part of the community, and the people are like family or friendly neighbors. I'm serious about this - there isn't another market for us like Nugget, or any other business for that matter. Hats off to Chaunté and team for doing such a difficult job extremely well, even during crazy times. You guys are one in a million. read more

I'm usually a big fan of Nugget and it's my go to place when I want a healthy lunch. Today I stopped and got the Dino kale with farro salad (and a quinoa salad) and I have never felt more disgusted with what I tasted. The Dino kale salad with Darrow was SATURATED with oil! (See the pic). I felt sick just looking at all that oil! That is usually not the case with nugget, but someone got excited adding all that oil! That place needs better QC to make sure the food coming out not just looks great, but also tastes good too! :( read more

We have never ordered a thanksgiving dinner from the Nugget before but we will definitely do it again. The staff was so cheerful and helpful. The meal was packaged so well in sturdy reusable containers. And the food was EXCELLENT. We had a large Diestle turkey, green beans, mashed potatoes, yams and sweet potatoes, cornbread stuffing, cranberries and gravy! So much leftovers! Thank you for a wonderful meal! read more

Who knew?! Went to get an late afternoon caffeine pick-me-up and the coffee place was closed. The kids working said the market had coffee. I didn't have high hopes. The guy behind the coffee counter (Henry K) was a RAY OF SUNSHINE. Sweet, funny, knowledgeable and he make me the BEST dirty chai latte ever. Give that man a raise!! I found the store mediocre. I went there because they are listed for selling raw milk. They only had raw cream. They had a few good quality products, but the rest is similar to run of the mill Safeway, only the isles are narrow and merchandise is limited. The fresh produce was very limited and very low selection for organic. read more

People who work there are very nice but the way they run their deli is bad. Went in about 3:00 in the afternoon and took a number. I waited for the number to be called and when it was the deli employee took my request and put it in a pile with other requests. I had no idea how many people were in front of me. Usually when they call your number in a deli they help you and do not ask you to wait in a different line. The Nugget in Vacaville does not do this - I do not know of any other store that does this. I decided to not get anything from the deli and went to the salad bar instead. Hint - salad bars run better when there is lettuce available for the customer. I took pictures of the salad bar and my frustrations and went to their management booth and showed them They understood but they also understood two weeks ago when it happened before. I bought a Classic Wrap Chicken Pepper Turkey wrap for $5.99. From the clear packaging I can see that the wrap, which is cut in half and placed in clear packaging, is filled nicely and tightly filled with cheese, lettuce, and turkey. However, when I opened up the packaging to begin to eat I saw that only one half of each piece was actually filled with cheese, lettuce and turkey. The other half on both pieces had a piece of lettuce and a very small piece of turkey. Feels like this was done on purpose to make it appear as if there is more than there is within the wrap. Very disappointed from what I have heard is a very good grocery store with great lunch items. It was very tasty and I may try again, but I will be more diligent in inspecting the item before I purchase it. read more

We ordered my daughter's birthday cake from Nugget and we had to postpone 3 times since my daughter had a cold. Not only was everyone in the bakery super friendly and accommodating, but it was one of the most delicious cakes I've ever had! I spent a fortune on her first birthday cake at a bakery and was supedisappointed when it was dry and tasteless. This sprinkle cake from Nugget was a fraction of the cost and everyone raved about how good it was and asked where I got it from. I will always use and recommend Nugget bakery for future celebrations! Ordered another cake for my daughter's birthday and had to call back to make a few changes. Everyone I spoke with was super helpful and the cake turned out perfect! Not only is it always beautiful, but it is SO delicious! Even though we have moved to Sonoma County, we still come back to Nugget bakery for all of our special occasion cakes. Couldn't recommend them more! read more

I enjoy coming here to pick up some kombucha (large selection) and both the cold salad and hot foods sections have nice selections. The red beet salad can't be beat (HA) and the spaghetti (when it is fresh and hasn't been picked through by the lunch- or dinner-time crowd) is a must. Guacamole is also great! Fresh, not too salty, good balance between the lime and onion flavors. Make sure to check out the tortilla chip section, lots of good options to go with that GUAC. read more

Problem at deli in Nugget! (Novato). I walked in Nugget and asked for a mortadella sandwich. Clerk said sorry no mortadella. Had to make special trip to Safeway for my sandwich. I walked in today (1:30) and asked for half pound of Liverwurst Clerk said I'll have to go to the back and get the liverwurst She came back and said sorry we're out of liverwurst Really frustrating. Again I had to make another special trip to Safeway. Is Nugget only buying deli products one item at a time? Why? Business slow? Will this happen again? In LOVE with this place! I had shopped at the one in the Sacramento area and was like why don't we have one in the bay area. We moved to Marin and we found one in Novato and my socks were blown off. The employees are always a pleasure, always willing to help and have smiles are their faces. I adore the bakery and bit much and hello meat/fish dept - boom amazing. The aisles are always stocked with goodies and you can find stuff here you can't find anywhere else. There should be a Nugget in every neighborhood. Please don't ever change how you do you. As a retired chef, I shop for various ingredients at a variety of local markets. Each one is known for a few key ingredients, depending on the season. Nugget is consistently good as a one-stop shop, which isn't easy these days. I'm giving Nugget five stars just for Chaunté (if I had a business, I'd steal her in a second), but all the employees are first rate. What's most interesting about this market is that it's a the far-western outcrop of a long-standing chain based in Sacramento and thus has excellent grandfathered contracts from A-1 produce and meat suppliers, arguably the best of CA. While their selection is fairly standard (like all grocer's, now), the quality of the seasonal fruit and veg is superior. Their deli and bakery and cheese sections are also very good, though their canned aisles are Marin-pricey. While the Hole Foods of Yore (pre-Bezos) might claim the old title, Nugget is now Novato's best overall market. read more

Pretty disappointed with my experience using Nugget bakery for the cakes for our little boy's first birthday party. I chose them based on the good Yelp reviews and because we live in SF but were having the party in Petaluma decided to chose a place close by. I thought we would be able to pick it up quickly on our way to the party. Nope! I called a few days before and ordered the cake. We wanted something to serve and a little cake for the baby to smash his face into. I told them we had 20 adults and 7 children in attendance and asked what size cake they recommended. I was told a half sheet was the right size. I was also told it would be $39. That sounded like a lot of cake but they are the experts and I wanted to spend around $50 so with the little cake this sounded like I would be near my buget. I asked to have it ready to pick up at 11:00. The party was at noon in Petaluma. When I got there I had to wait in a long line at the bakery just to talk to a human. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes while they boxed up the cake. I guess "ready to pick up" doesn't mean the same thing to them. Due to sucky traffic we ended up being late for our own party. It's not their fault there was traffic but if I could have just walked in and picked up the cake in about 10 minutes time instead of the near half hour it took, then traffic would not have been such a problem. When I finally got the cake I find out the price is now $59. The guy tells me that is the price he quoted me. Nope! Of course I didn't have time to argue with him since I was late for the party I was hosting. A cake half the size of what we got would have been too much. We didn't even eat a quarter of it and everyone had a piece. I have so much cake left over. And it sucks because I spent all this money unnecessarily. The cake tasted fine but the service was very disappointing. If you want to use them for a special event make sure you get clarification of the actual price. Also don't trust the size cake they recommend unless your guests eat like elephants. read more

I've only been to the Nugget Market for their ice cream, but it's also the reason I keep coming back. On the outside, the Nugget is a upscale supermarket that focuses on high quality, fresh ingredients. However, I believe their main appeal is their ice cream bar located on the left corner of the store. While small, they offer a wide variety of choices made locally from Lappert's Ice Cream in the Sausalito area. I notice that they rotate their selections quite often, which is a great thing. There's always a new flavor to try or something to revisit. Although I have yet to find my personal favorite, everything I've had thus far was delicious and would recommend. To top it all off, a single scoop is only $0.99 and 1.98 mfor a double! How can you beat that? The staff here are also always friendly and welcoming. There are other markets and stores that offer high quality produce and ingredients nearby, but I consider the ice cream at the Nugget Market a hidden gem of Novato. With quality ice cream at a very friendly price, they have a winning combination that keeps me coming back. I wonder what new flavors they'll have next time I visit. Update: just had their green tea ice cream and it's my favorite thus far. Made with Japanese Ceremonial Tea, it is semi-sweet with a welcoming, subtle herbal-ness. Their Sumatra is among the BEST. GOT Big sales on huge Porterhouse Tbone, Choice, Augus. $8.99. Sales on Center Cut Bacon $4.99. Lemon Poppyseed Muffins very good. With real good lemon oils. Two bag Organic Potatoe Chips for total 3 Bucks. Lots other great sales. But did'nt have time today to shop longer. Yes this is a baby Nuggets. But Truly Endulge at Nuggets Mkt West Sacramento. I was really the first to review this store back on July 12th, 2015! My review was taken down I suspect because some former Paradise employees flagged my positive experience here! Well, to heck with them, they store moved on, got better, and so should they! The produce section is awesome, they must have some great relationships with growers. The meat section is better now than it was with Paradise, more selection and better prices. The wine selection is better now too, they used to have lots of wines that were all esoteric and over-priced, now they have a better variety. The layout is nice and for a medium-small store, they are still one-stop-shopping. I really like going here except when they are super busy, but hey, at least I get to bump into lots of friends! Thanksgiving dinner Great--Thank you Nugget So this year, due to Covid, decided to buy a Thanksgiving meal. First, picking it up was so easy. They had a table outside where you checked in, and brought out your order in a big box and I was able to check we got everything and did not need to go into the store. The dinner was great. Of course, if you are use to your own recipes, it is not going to taste exactly the way you are use to. But if you don't want to cook for hours, it was great. Everything was very tasty. The Turkey needs an hour to warm up and the sides needed about 30 minutes. Very much appreciated everything Novato Nugget did. Great job! . read more

Update: Lisa took really great care of me when I came in to voice me concern. They assured me they are fixing the issue and this will never happen again. I was concerned about them having put the chicken in frozen, she assured they buy fresh daily. I was very pleased with her kindness and understanding of the situation. I was terrified at first when having eaten almost half a serving as well as my kids taken a few bites of breast meat. But after the exchange I just had I feel almost confident enough to purchase another....almost. Once the ptsd fades lol. Thanks Lisa for taking care of me. I live around the corner and come here often. This place is expensive and prides itself on being more of a health foods grocery store then a regular grocery store like Safeway or Lucky. I have never been so disgusted by something I have purchased at a store in my life. We decided to get one of their rotisserie chickens, BIG mistake! The photos speak enough about what degree of uncooked our chicken was today. They charge $9.99 for their chickens which wouldn't be bad if it came safely prepared. So dangerous!!!
