Super impressed with this place! Place was somewhat difficult to spot as the name is on the window and was partially covered by the cars parked in front of it. From the moment we walked, we felt at home. Mama Lao greeted us with a smile and offered a menu. There was no separate drink menu but she mentioned what was available. No alcoholic beverages available but the Thai tea was amazing - sweetened with palm sugar so it gave it a distinctive flavor. Appetizer - crab rangoon were good but the fresh rolls were delicious. My dish was the pineapple fried rice is one of the best I've tried - loved the fresh pineapple. And it was an enormous serving! Partner tried the pad Thai and basil fried rice and was very pleased with them. Service was outstanding and even got some free cookies and Asian candy. Mama Lao was super nice and treated us as if we had been dining at her home. Chef came out and chatted as well. It was nice to hear their story. We visited at a time when there was one a couple of other tables dining. There was some background music playing. We will be back soon!

My wife & I had Saturday dinner and enjoyed the Spring Rolls, Chicken Wings, Drunken Noodles, we also ordered the Classic Fried Rice to go. Family owned, super friendly and incredibly fresh & delicious food.. It's a must try in Plaistow!!

Mama Lao's hospitality truly made our experience. She was so welcoming and treated us like our kids. I felt like I was eating at an auntie's house! The portions are HUGE and the food is tasty. I recommend the pad kra pao, but I would honestly reorder any of the dishes we tried this time.

    Pad Thai and good times.

I have left several reviews already but I can't stress enough how good this place is. This is not only the best Thai in this area but this is simply the best food around. There is no other establishment making food this good and with the level care for the customers. Always super friendly, super gracious, super on-point. Everything here is simply awesome and the pad Thai and Kra Pao are phenomenal.

We had a great time at Sanouk Lao & Thai eats. The crab rangoons were very good, the portions were huge for the food being reasonably priced. The owner was unbelievably sweet and kind. The menu was very authentic and service was efficient. We will definitely be coming back! Great vibes all around.

Mama Lao, in front, owner of SaNouk's, just after our anniversary celebration.

We love this restaurant so much that we celebrated our 30th anniversary here! Mama Lao, the owner, did a traditional Thai anniversary ceremony for us. She explained the meaning behind each element of the ceremony. She also played traditional anniversary and wedding songs, translating for us as they went along, and even joined in the dancing. She has such a big heart! The food, as always, was amazingly delicious. We tried some new dishes this time, and everything was terrific. Even the sweet and sour chicken, a standard dish in many restaurants, was next-level. The chicken was so crispy and the sauce so flavorful that it's my new gold standard against which all other sweet and sour chicken will be judged. Huge portions also. As the evening was winding down, Mama Lao presented us with a delicious dessert on the house and sent us home with even more food. We won't forget our fantastic evening!

Crab Rangoons- 10/10. It tastes and looks like homemade. We were happy with all our food. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Will definitely come back!

The Laotian curry noodle soup, all the larbs and larb adjacent dishes, the tapioca balls etc are fantastic and unique. If you like spicy, they do it for real here. I can eat almost anything and normally order maximum heat level wherever I go, but 4/5 is all I'm willing to go here. It's the real deal. They even sell their own home made chile powders and sauces (cash only for the condiments). They have a full bar, and the service is friendly. Looks like a family run place with the younger people in the front of the house and a kitchen full of grandmotherly women. As it should be.

Restaurant felt like a local neighborhood spot for local families to come in and have dinner. About 9-10 tables. I called ahead and informed them that we had a party of 7-8 coming in. The front desk guy was super cool! Great customer service. He accommodated us and things were set up quick. He said over the phone he would take care of us and he did. Appreciate you! Food 4/5 - it was my first time having Nam Khao at a restaurant. Other previous times have been home made. I'm not sure how I feel about paying $19 for this dish lol it was a good portion but a little hefty. The wings were good but I still prefer Simply Khmer. My wife had pad thai and requested it to be extra spicy. In our experience at other restaurants, when you ask for spicy, it's never spicy. Lanxang does it spicy and we quickly figure that out lol it still packed a good punch of flavor! Overall, I would come back to try their other dishes. I want to try their papaya salad and boat noodle soup. Will definitely come back!

And I am so glad we did! The menu carries a smaller variety than others in the area but the ones they do, they seem to make them well. We got the fried pompano and the crying Thaiger steak. The fried pompano came with a sauce that was so good that we asked for extra. It was spicy but not too much and thick and went perfectly with the fish. We even put some on the steak just cause and it went well with it. Ended up packing some sauce to bring home lol Plenty of street parking in the area so that's another plus. Lastly, the prices are very fair for this economy and this level of deliciousness. And the server is so funny and personable!

My favorites were the Sai Koo and Laab, but it seems like you can't go wrong with anything here. The tapioca balls were chewy with a savory meat filling, and it was served with lettuce wraps and a sauce. The Laab was fresh and light. Parking is a bit of a hassle, but it's worth it.

Tl;dr: Great food, friendly staff, fair price and wait…read more I was looking for something new to try in the area, and me and my partner had been in the mood for Pad Thai and Yellow Curry. Naturally, rather than go to a couple places we agreed to try a newer spot that had both. This location has, to my knowledge, been a few different restaurants over the years and so I was a bit worried that this revolving door of businesses may have been a bad sign for this restaurant. When we got in, the place seemed quaint enough, the kind of ambience you expect when people make a joke about how you can tell how good the food is by what the inside of the restaurant is like. We were greeted by a nice guy in a jacket, maybe a delivery driver, but he was very welcoming and kind. He took our order and said it would be ready in about 20 minutes. He then asked if we would rather wait inside in the waiting area or out in the car. We said we would wait in the car and he offered to bring out our food when it was ready. We waited just about 20 minutes, which felt like a good sign that all the food would be fresh. One other customer came and went in that time, which made me a little sad since it was about 730 on a Friday night and I figure this place deserved a bit more business. Our order was: Pad Thai (Chicken): the Pad Thai was pretty standard fare, which is by no means an insult! The noodles were perfect, the peanut came through exactly how you'd like, and the bean sprouts were plentiful. The chicken was the kind you'd expect in Pad Thai, just some juicy breast meat, perfectly cooked. Yellow Curry with Coconut Rice (Chicken): The yellow curry was excellent, according to my partner, who exclaimed that it was a huge portion for the price. They said the smell was to die for and she was pleasantly surprised by the inclusion of baby corn. She was very happy with how delicious the coconut rice was. Crab Rangoon: The Crab Rangoon were potentially different than how most people in the area would have theirs, with celery and carrot inside along with the usual cream cheese, chive, and imitation crab. These were smaller than expected, but the flavor was very balanced and rich. There was an umami flavor which stuck out to me, but in a good way! The paired sweet sauce that came with it was light and delicious. Altogether the meal came out to $40 roughly, which I think is fair for a couple of entrees and an appetizer. Frankly, I think the only issue I have with this place is that I hadn't heard any good things about it sooner. This spot deserves more attention and people should really give it a try! Maybe everyone has been keeping a secret and I have been living under a rock. In any case, enjoy!
