This is the second time using this company. "Ask for Lam", was what my wife and I read the first time in their review. We were moving into a 1904 house in Martinez that had original red oak floors that hadn't been refinished in the 30 years the previous owners lived there. A last minute decision to finish the floors and we couldn't have been happier. They were even able to remove an old 3X3 foot heater floor vent and match the floor well enough that you didn't notice unless you were looking for it. Flash forward 4 years and we asked them to come back and refinish the only room in the house where there was a rug. After my wife and I removed the rug and the 1950s felt backed linoleum and mastic, Nviro came and restored the floor and it looks as good as new! The floors feel much smoother now as a result, so I appreciate that they came out to fix the shortcomings left from the first time around. In a nutshell, Lam was very responsive and helpful. He was always on time and easy to communicate with (answering questions and updating me throughout the project. We have a rental home built in 1936 with original hardwood floors; however, the tenants abused the floors in several areas, and some of the wood needed to be replaced. They refinished and stained the floors exactly as we wanted and met my expectations all the way through. The was also the lowest bidder, and I've used other companies that did not do as good a job. When I purchased an old house that had not been updated in quite some time one of the key areas that needed a lot of help were the hardwood floors. The Nviro team, led by Lam, did an incredible job from start to finish. Fist they educated me on exactly what type of wood flooring existed in the house. Then discussed the options on what would work best and how we could approach redoing the floors. Ultimately, once the floors were sanded, treated, some wood replaced and the vents all redone with flush to the floor vents, we picked out a great stain that worked extremely well. Excellent JOB !!!! Lam and his team did a great job (-750'). The team had to first demo tile that had been there for at least 15 years, then prepare and lay down hardwood. The team is prompt, efficient and courteous. There were times I had to leave for hours on end and didn't once worry about my house being unsupervised. This review is almost 2 1/2 years over due. The original work was completed February 2016. I know you don't have time to read the review, so I'll cut to the chase. Hire Nviro! They were professional, communicated what to expect, did a fantastic job repairing my damaged floor, and the price was very competitive. His crew did the job quickly. I'd hire Nviro again. My hardwood floor, in my 1952 house, had severe cupping (each wood strip curling upwards along the edges), due to water that had leaked under the subfloor. Lam explained that he could repair the job, alternate the new wood with the old, in varying lengths, to match it as close as he could. He further explained that there would be a light color difference due to the lighter patina on the old floor, from years of sun bleaching the wood. I was okay with it, as I had planned to have the floors resurfaced at a later time. Lam and his crew did a fantastic job removing the old strips. I noticed that the subfloor looked a bit warped, so I asked him to replace it as well because I didn't want it to squeak in the future. It's a cheap fix, especially since the floor was open. Even though it was a last minute request, Lam said no problem, and went to the lumber store to buy supplies. His crew cut out the old subfloor and carefully layered up the subfloor, so it matched with the existing subfloor The final results were fantastic. I couldn't be happier. Do yourself a favor and hire Nviro. read more

The great news is our floor is done and looks beautiful. The not so great news is the job was not completed on time because the crew ran out of wood on a Saturday afternoon, and didn't inform us until then. We rushed to Lumber Liquidators to buy more at a higher rate than we purchased it at before (Lam comped us $100 but still, it didn't feel great as we had even double checked with him that the square footage was correct, and he replied by email that it was.) Knowing what we know now that it takes about seven boxes to finish each of our bedrooms, I would have thought that the crew working on the floor would have seen the four remaining boxes and the one whole bedroom and edges of our kitchen left to complete, and taken the initiative to tell us of the impending shortage a heck of a lot earlier. They also put my toddler son's bed on the unfinished part of his room, the floor of which looked like the La Brea Tar Pits. WTF? Why not put the underlayment down, which we had plenty of and needed to be done anyway? This lack of care for our home and time really left a bad taste in our mouths. This isn't a two-star review because Lam sent two guys to finish the job on Sunday, a day that they're normally off. We appreciated that, as well as the fact that Lam found the wooden radiator registers we had been looking for online but were unable to locate. Overall, I can't in good faith recommend Nviro if you're living in your home and needing a new floor, given what we experienced. No matter your situation, I'd press for a schedule so you know what's happening daily and what you can expect. read more

We recently bought a beautiful 1904 Folk Victorian in Martinez, CA. I was trying to find someone at the last minute and had no idea where to go. I started with Angie and made an appointment with Lam. I wanted to get a second quote, so I contacted another contractor also recommended by Angie. They could come a day earlier so when they came and told me that they could meet a tight 1 week schedule to have it ready for our move in date, I was excited and started to feel the pressure of making a decision. I was almost ready to spend a huge amount of money and didn't really know what it really would cost. I should have known better, because he was an hour and a half late and pulled up in a very expensive looking Mercedes. Someone had to pay for his car. I called Nam and told him I needed a quote on the spot based upon an empty house, the square footage needing refinishing and the the age of the wood. He gave me a quote on the spot 1/3 the price of that Mr. Mercedes offered. After showing Mr. Mercedes to the door, I waited until the next day and met with Lam. He was cheerful, pleasant, and super fast and paid attention to the spots in the floor that needed repair and said he would also quote replacing a section of the floor where there had been a 3X3" floor radiator in the past. 1/3 the price with the floor repairs and the radiator space rebuild. I had read his reviews on Yelp, and like mine, they were all glowing, so the decision was easy. Final result, a magnificent floor restored to perfection and a very happy wife.
