T&T refinished my hardwood floors, in a hi-rise with lots of direct sun. There was pretty bad sun bleaching in some spots and some surface damage as well. But I knew Vinny would take care of it... he'd done a great job ten years ago and I had faith. I couldn't be happier with the results. The floor is 25 years old and looks like it was installed last week. All the bleached areas are just fine. No neighbors complained about the sanders or the elevators being used, and my interactions with the crew were courteous and professional. We recently had our downstairs area enlarged, and decided early on we wanted white oak hardwood floors to match our upstairs installed. After calling around and getting a very expensive bid from Amber, and Tulip said they wouldn't even give me a bid and then hung up on me, I found T&T. Vinny came out and gave us a very detailed walk-through and pointed out some issues we'd need to deal with before they could install (our contractor installed the new front door and threshold too low to accommodate the double-float subfloor, ahem). He gave us options on how to have the floors put in with our round walls, and we were overall very impressed with his thoroughness and professionalism. Their bid was also for thousands less than the others we received. The guys started the following week, and they worked 12 and 13 hour days to get our floor in and completed in only 5 days. We were simply blown away by the quality of their work. They had one very experienced guy who only did the tricky edges, and then the junior guys did the center fill. Our floors are gorgeous, and because of the double-float subfloor, they feel comfortable and nice, even though they're over concrete. I'll definitely be calling these guys back when we need to refinish our floors upstairs. read more

Two thumbs way up for T&T floors! After we removed a bunch of brick and a wood burning stove from the corner of our family room, we were stuck with an oddly shaped area to be patched. We contacted several contractors that advised us a simple patch job wouldn't do and that we would have to buff and tint the entire room. We got about 3 - 4 quotes and T&T was the lowest. I was a little skeptical about how little they were charging us (less than half of our highest quote) but we were impressed with their good responsiveness and customer service so we decided to go with T&T. In 2 days (1 day ahead of schedule), they patched the corner plus buffed and triple coated our hardwood floor...and it looks amazing! All the contractors warned us that the color of the new floor would not quite match with the adjacent room but we can barely see any difference with T&T's work. On top of all that, they took the initiative to fix a gap we had between our sliding door and the floor as well as patch several deep scratches in the floor, without us even asking and free of charge! I was especially impressed with how prompt they all were. They gave us a specific schedule of when they would come and every they always arrived exactly at the time they said they would. All the guys that worked on our floor were friendly and willing to answer all our questions. I disagree with the comment below that Vinny was not easy to work with because whenever my husband or I spoke with him he was extremely helpful, even giving us detailed instructions on the after care of the floor. They did an excellent job replacing and repairing a wood floor in our kitchen. We had an unseen (so undiagnosed!) water leak for a number of months and by the time it was visible it had ruined a portion of the kitchen floor. With hardwood floors throughout the house, our insurance company wanted us to move out of our house for a week -- put *everything* in storage, board our pets, etc. -- so that after the 3x2-foot patch of damaged flow was fixed, the floor throughout the entire home could be re-sanded and stained. That seemed ridiculous (and expensive!) T&T worked hard to match the floor color. I came home from work one day and three people were in the kitchen staining and sanding little tiny samples until they found an exact color match. The floors is beautiful -- and we didn't have to go to the Motel 6. Will definitely use them again. read more

T&T Floors did a great job on our floor remodel. We moved into a new home in the Claremont Hills that had wall-to-wall carpeting; we loved all but the carpeting. We got bids from two companies (T&T Floors and Tulip); T&T floors came recommended by our realtor. We felt that Vinny at T&T floors took more care to measure and consider the details of our floor plan; he also suggested hickory wood, which was a great suggestion for our space. The bid from Tulip came in a little under T&T Floors, but T&T matched the bid so we went with them. We're very happy we did! The floors look beautiful. There were only a few small problems. After the floor was finished, a portion by the top stair landing seemed to be rising too high -- just a bit, but enough to make us concerned about the long term. Vinny sent his team back over to fix it. Unfortunately, the top lip of the stairs broke when the team tried to fix it; we had to wait for replacement wood. When that came and was installed, it was the wrong color, and lacked the beautiful random pattern of dark and light tones that characterizes most of the hickory wood on the floor. So we mentioned this to Anna and Sarah, and Vinny sent his team over once again. Now the floor looks beautiful again, just as it did when it was first laid down. One other point to mention, the stairs are not quite as beautiful, and don't have the same pattern as the rest of the hickory floor; we'll probably put a runner over them, but that's something to consider when installing a full wood floor including stairs (I think the wood for the stairs may be sourced separately). For the floor we used Mullican wood (Muirfield?), around $20K for the whole job (1,400 sq. ft. of floor). We're very happy and definitely recommend T&T Floors! read more

Disappointed after an appointment today that was scheduled for 2:30, and I confirmed by a text reply to their weekend confirmation phone call, was then changed by a call from the estimator at 1:37pm, to tell me he'd be by at 1:45. I didn't get the message until I was set to leave work at 2pm, and he said he'd already left and couldn't come back today. Then I called the company and told them what happened, and they said 'yes, sorry, he's really booked' and they didn't have a time for another week. They gave me one window that worked for them, rather than try to accommodate 4 times that I requested (4 days of morning hour ranges) that would minimize impact on my 9-6 work schedule. Kept giving me the reason that 'he's really booked'. Not a good first impression. read more

I would not recommend T& Floors. In 2006 we hired T&T Floors to install new hardwood floors in our 104 year old victorian in Alameda. The exprience was like a bad dream. The process spanned several months. With the exception of one crew, the workers were apathetic, messy and sloppy and had to be called back innumerable times. When tearing down the plastic put up to keep dust out, they ripped paint off of the walls and fininish off of an already finished floor. Within the first year, the second floor had cupped so drastically, we moved everything out the summer of 2007 and had T&T resand and reefinish them. Thankfully, they did the refinishing at no charge. The kitchen and family room floors had already started cupping, but they did not view it as bad enough to refinish at no cost. We did not pursue it. It is now 2009. Corners of the living room tongue and groove have cupped and separated, and now and in places, edges of the wood tongue and groove flooring are raising leaving an obvious "edge" feel under the bare foot. Their estimator, Kevin, was easy to deal with. The owner, Vinny, was not.. Do not go to T&T Floors! read more

I did find someone else who could beat $2+/- per sq. ft. - but it would have taken a longer for them to get out there and god knows what the results would have been. You don't understand how long I thought having our floors redone was way out of our league. We bought our house and it had some of the nastiest carpets I had ever seen. Even when those were pulled up, the floors looked disgusting and I had assumed the only solution for us was to sand and seal them myself. I was thrilled to get such a great price from a local business to refinish multiple 100 year old floors that hadn't been touched in decades. T&T did a good job repairing a small area, the guys showed up when they said they would and the refinishing made an improvement. However, you get what you pay for...there are discolored areas where the dust settled between floor boards and gaps in other areas between the floor boards that didn't get filled in (they gave an excuse about it being fir), the color was NOT what I picked which they charged extra and they didn't use a dustless sander so I have too lights floors with dust on EVERYTHING! EVERYWHERE! down the halls on two floors, stairways, stuck to ceilings, walls, shelves, light fixtures, in the shower, in other units, everything was COVERED! There guys only cleaned up their footprints. When I spoke with Anna there was no apology or offer to cover/split the cost for the cleaning or take a little from the bill for inconvenience...she simply asked stone cold when can she pick up payment. Really too bad as I have lots of work to be done throughout the buildings. Would have been nice to keep business in the community to support the locals now I have to find another outside vendor.
