My friend and I did Polybuis Lives for my birthday. I knew I would love( first timer) but my friend didn't think she would be any good. We both had a great time!! We needed plenty of nudges but the whole experience was very fun! We got about 80% of the way thru the first time and recently went back to complete the room! Me my boyfriend and his father came to the escape rooms and we got to do two rooms Ronnie's Room and Jurassic tour. These rooms were so much fun and a great way for us to all keep moving and talking. Donicia was the friendly face at the front door and Reagan was the super helpful Game master. These two people were so amazing and helpful and you could tell they love their job. Had our family visiting for a few days and all 10 of us did an escape room! My husband and I had partaken before but the rest had never tried before! The front has complementary popcorn while you wait and they give you a key for phones and belongings to be stored in a locker! That's a huge plus for me as last escape room at the beach I had to lug my purse! The staff were all super friendly! We did the DB Cooper themed room and were 5 minutes from solving! I learned about them on the mother owned business site, and the lovely family that owns it supports community groups and other businesses! I did the Vegas themed room that another person complained was messy. Well, it was part of the theme. What did she expect? And three clues is the norm for escape rooms I have been to. I don't enjoy horror whatsoever, so you can guess how Ronnie's House went with Isaac at the lead. My girlfriend even had them ramp it up when I was out of the room, resulting in me booking it across the room multiple times and leaping to the coach for safety. We didn't escape due to me being scared shitless, but Isaac did a fantastic job as Ronnie and he made me want to work at an escape room to give others a fantastic experience that we were given. One of, if not the best escape room experience I have experienced in the pacific north west. read more

This was my first escape room out of the Seattle area. We did the Hangover themed one and didn't succeed. If you haven't seen the movie, The Hangover, I think this room would be too over the top for you as I can see why this room was only for 18 years and older. They had some pretty risk-ay props for your viewing. First and foremost, mass props to our room master, "Doug". My husband and I thought he did an AMAZING job playing in character and I couldn't stop smiling when he was talking to us. In the back of my mind I was thinking, "Is this dude, high?" If he was, keep up the good work. You were HYSTERICAL. Without spoiling anything. I think for our group, we were overthinking things. We focused more on some of the items in the room that were irrelevant to get to the next clue. I think the experience we have had doing multiple escape rooms (3 of us done many, 1 of us was their first time) might of been to our disadvantage. Even "Doug" mentioned to us that we got through the most difficult puzzles where a lot of groups struggled and yet, we missed the most simplest things that were right from under us. All and all, I think we got too cocky (no pun-intended) thinking we got this - but I guess that is the one great thing about escape rooms. You can escape one room, but that doesn't guarantee that you'll solve and escape the next one. There is one clue that we were fixated on and told Doug what we thought and seen and he brought it to the owner's attention that maybe they need to look at it more further. All and all, we enjoyed our experience and the staff were extremely friendly and great. There were two more rooms that they had and I wouldn't be surprised if we would go back there again and try it out. read more

NW Escape Experience is not a bad place for escape rooms Recently visited Portland and decided to check out this place on the way home Did 2 rooms here - The Kill Room and DB Cooper room The facility is nice and spacious with clean bathrooms and a large couch in the lobby. Friendly front desk gal The rooms themselves left much to be desired, but weren't the worst rooms I've ever done. Both rooms had some elements that I enjoyed, but also some elements that were troublesome The Kill Room - this room attempts to be very immersive with a live actor! I really enjoy doing rooms with live actors, so that element was very fun to me. However, the puzzles in the room itself were very uninspiring. There were soo many locks, sometimes it would be locks inside of locks. It was tiresome. Perhaps it's a sign of its age (gen 1 escape rooms with mostly locks). However, I got kind of tired of all the locks. I also felt like some of the tasks in the room felt very much like time wasters and didnt add much to the story or to the experience. One puzzle was very scuffed - the letters/writing were very very difficult to read in the low-lighting of this room. Nothing in this room really stood out to me in terms of puzzles or elements i'd never seen. so A+ for having a live immersive actor, but the room itself was not that great DB Cooper room - I loved the decoration/set design. cute props, felt cozy. However, again, a lot of time wasters in this room. And the puzzles are not difficult at all, might be good for a beginner. we solved the room very fast, which was probably a good thing because my friend was about to fall asleep on the couch lol sooo yeah NW Escape Experience is decent, perhaps if im in the area again in the future, I would try their newest room when it is released. But overall, kind of underwhelming. I also hate that the game masters give you a business card at the end of the room telling you to leave a review - such a waste of resources. if anything, send a follow up email asking for a review, but dont waste paper thats just gonna end up in the bathroom garbage anyway read more

(Edited) Nice escape room. But bad overall experience. We did the Jurassic Tours Back to the Past room and it was set up nicely however, during the experience, the game master gave out hints whenever we stopped making progress for more than a 30 seconds it seems (we did not ask for any hints). We finished with well over 20 minutes to spare. We all felt that the experience of solving the puzzle was taken away. We ended up solving almost none of it on our own when the point of the experience was to solve the puzzles. Over all it felt like a waste of time and money because we did not get the experience of solving the puzzles. Edit: the owner of this business reached out to me telling me how she reviewed game footage and saw how the experience went and invited us back to try another escape room. She informed me that they have coached the game master to not give unsolicited nudges like what happened in my game. I went back here again to try another experience and had an amazing time with my friends! The game master only gave nudges when we asked for it when we were stumped... Overall we had much more fun solving the puzzles in that room! We can't wait to go back to try another one! read more

3.5 stars - the 1.5 stars off is mostly due to my dislike of the room and not the company. Upon entering the business, I was pleased to find it was a huge office storefront, with a very large lobby and a very welcoming greeter. My friends had decided to book the newest room - The Hangover Room. This was the first time I had done an escape room with the friends I went with, but we worked pretty well together. Our game master Doug definitely played "your friend" that you are to hang out with, and .. well, rescue. The theme of the room definitely played on the movie "The Hangover". I think what I didn't like about the room was its messiness upon entering. This is just a personal preference, creating a lot more red herrings than I was used to. I have done more escape rooms in the San Diego area, and this is the first time doing it in the Portland/Vancouver area. My first ever escape room had the puzzle gamemaster in the room with you and he was in full on character which was interesting, creepy, yet distracting at the same time. In almost all other experiences hints were given through walkie talkies, tv screens, or some other interesting mechanism that didn't involve the game master being in the room with you. Doug wasn't in the room with us per se, but when we wanted a hint, he would come over to the "window" and give us one. What I found hard about the room is that we're only allowed to ask for three hints, which I think was a factor in why my group wasn't able to escape. I'm used to being nudged when the game host is seeing we are struggling as well being able to ask for hints whenever we want (of course, if it's an obvious answer, game hosts aren't going to answer). Given the opportunity for only three hints is usually what I'm used to as "hard mode" and the mode I usually play at is "easy mode". There was also one item I felt was used twice that I'm not used to (as I'm used to the used once and done rule), and there was one item where got totally hung up on because we thought it was a solution when it wasn't. Where we dropped the ball I think was not being more organized with all the clues. I think the messiness definitely throws in a factor at least in my head of not being able to be organized. I recall opening up something, finding a clue, and then forgetting to go back to it when we got preoccupied with something else. Or, not checking something thoroughly. There was at one point we made a phone call and the action as a result wasn't immediate which threw us off. Some of the multiple things we had to do with the items with the result of the phone call was a bit confusing. Anyhow, I think it was a combination of the room not as tightly designed as others I had experienced before, and my friends and I being a bit disorganized. I liked most of the puzzles though, a lot of it were out of the box thinking of how I normally think which was definitely a challenge, and were what caused a bit of our hangups since my friends and I think somewhat similarily I imagine. Some of the puzzles I felt wasn't very clear on why the solution was the solution, and we struggled with opening some of the locks despite the combination being correct because it wasn't perfectly aligned. I think if it were any of the other rooms at NW Escape Experience I might have enjoyed it more, since I'm not a huge fan of the movie "the Hangover" anyway. The other rooms look very interesting, better organized (not messy .. haha, I have problems!) - and I would definitely return and do the other rooms the next time I get the opportunity to visit. And, the thrill of escape rooms are just so much more exciting when one actually does escape :) I blame my brain for this one! =) I'm happy Vancouver has escape rooms at all, and hope NW Escape Experiences continue to expand and build new rooms. I absolutely loved the staff - totally friendly and helpful and great acting! read more

For a first timer escape room this was awesome!! The customer service was super amazing. They called us to make sure we were still coming, making sure we had the waiver, and what their mask policy is so there were no surprises. They answered all our questions and reassured our concerns about being newbies. We did the Jurassic experience and it was very appropriate for patrons of all ages. We had participants from age 4 to 37. I highly recommend and look forward to doing another adventure with them. read more
