Has anyone seen the cart recently? My husband still works in Rosslyn on occassion and he hasn't seen it there or in Ballston. I need some chicken and rice.

I was still a little hesitant until this nice woman came along and vouched for the food. I had no idea about what to order, but as soon as I saw her food come out I was sold. I told the guys to give me exactly what she had, which included a quarter chicken, corn, and potatoes. I got back up to my office and enjoyed all of it. The chicken was well done and well seasoned, the corn was tasty, and the potatoes were better than what I was expecting. Can't really explain it but they were like roasted and mashed at the same time.. whatever it was it was great! Oh and that sweet orange sauce that they gave me took the chicken to another level. Insert fire emojis Lastly, the guys working the truck were some of the coolest food truck people that I've ever interacted with. Combine that with good food and you can def count on my coming back again.

Both times I've ordered the same thing - a quarter dark meat with one side. It comes with basmati rice (which you can sub out for a different side) and a choice of a salad, coleslaw, and corn. I've chosen the coleslaw both times - I find it so unique, with its cabbage and basil-like dressing. Definitely NOT your usual slaw. I will try the corn one of these days, though. On to the chicken - They give you a good amount of chicken and it is very, very juicy. I can't comment about the skin (I don't eat the skin, I take it off...I know to some of you that's a sin!) but my co-workers have previously commented that it is nicely seasoned. They also provide you with a mild barbeque sauce, and today they gave me a new sauce, which was curry-based. It's slightly thicker than the barbeque sauce, which while it has good flavor, is a bit thinner (it complements, not overpowers, the chicken). I alternated between both sauces today. I have to also complement the owner/manager - I had exactly $8 in cash (keep forgetting about the taxes for food trucks!) so he let me go without paying the $.80, that was really nice of him. I'll be sure to give it back to him next time! Overall, a solid, filling meal, and I would return!

There are lots of hand-made craft and unique gift items (ramen stall, truffle stall, cat & dog stalls, as well as plenty of jewelry, chocolate, candle, toys, ornament, and crafts stalls). I bought a Ramen bowl from Japan for hubby, Truffle butter @ Truffist, and dark chocolate Oreos (the dark chocolate pretzels aren't that good) @Capital City Jar, kudos for being a long-time vendor! I also got an overpriced $40 onesie @SOL, the material was very soft and made in the U.S. In terms of the hot chocolate stalls, the Truffle stall and the S'mores N More are my favorite. The Marshmallows are gigantic and should have mixed them in! I got a pack of 6 marshmallows and picked out the flavors - Rainbow, Cookies and Cream, and Toffee Marshmallows. The Racklette sandwich was delicious - you must try it! It was so fascinating to watch the melty swiss cheese get scooped off the big truckle cheese wheel and sandwiches into a soft baguette roll. The Churros with Dulce Leche filling are a must - I always get the every year! Kudos for being a long-time vendor! The Dirty Habit Chalet boozy is a bit gimmicky. I paid $17 for Whiskey and Cider, I wish it was served warm and the service was lukewarm. The air-fried Gnocchi from Carmine's was a complete miss and a total disappointment. The Gnocchi lacked the crispy edges and pillowy soft juicy center. The texture was completely off from the air fryer. Excited to go back next year for some more gifts and delicious goodies and sweet treats!

And each year I always end up bypassing it because after a long day at work, the last thing I want to do is be jammed in with a bunch of other people going from booth to booth. I finally took the time to visit here and probably picked one of the worst times to visit, during a hockey game. With the influx of people coming into the area for the game and the arena right there, it made navigating to and through a nightmare. The downside here, and it is probably the only downside, are the amounts of other people. They will do one of two things. One, forget about their awareness to where they are. By this I mean that they will forget they are not the only person here at the holiday market. Two, the other people will either push you along, or walk at a glacial pace. Jamming up crosswalks and entrances to the main area. Two things you cannot control and you just have to go with the flow here. I will say it is lively and welcoming. Once you do make it into the stall area you will have to take your time to sift through what there is to offer. From gifts to food, you can find it all here. Live music is a usual draw as well which lends to the magical feel that you are in the middle of a DC street and don't have to worry about a thing. All of the vendors are local, so this is a big shop small venue. Offering you everything you can think of as a gift for a special somebody. Definitely worth a look around the holiday season.

But this one is just as great and has a few games that we got to enjoy for 30 minutes free. So we took full advantage of that after we did the course. Now I'm not going to lie I didn't think the food would be as good as it was...but oh boy it was very good and cooked fast. I got some wings, guacamole and chips, and tacos and my man got a pizza. We didn't think the pizza would be a full pizza but it was like a large. The drinks we got were very good I got a raspberry lemons drop and orange creamsicle drink and he got his frozen margaritas. I also had a few glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon to round out the night. For a Thursday night it had a great amount of people not too crowded but not empty either. We ended the night sitting out on the courtyard until they closed. Great spot can't wait to go again!

We were checked for IDs outside before entering a well air conditioned space. The only genuinely friendly interaction we had was with the staff member at the front, who helped us book a mini golf game. We decided to grab food beforehand, which turned into an awkward experience. There was no clear host for seating, the bar was overwhelmed, and when we asked about getting a table and how ordering worked, we were met with noticeable attitude. The food also took quite a while to arrive, and the quality did not justify the wait. The pizza was sloppily made and comparable to Little Caesars. After eating, we lined up for our course. With our booking, we were given a scorecard and a list of rules. Some rules, like a maximum of six hits per person and waiting for each player to finish before starting, did not seem consistently enforced. At hole four, someone was supposedly meant to take drink orders, but like our other experiences, no one was there. Each hole had a pleasant garden aesthetic, though I wished there was more creativity or stronger theming. Despite the courses having DC inspired names, the designs felt fairly standard. We also tried the arcade, which included 30 minutes of unlimited play. Tickets could be used on claw machines for prizes like plushies, hats, and small items. There was a 30 second delay between swipes, and the system felt inconsistent. At times, the swipe would register without starting the game, forcing us to wait anyway. Several games were not functioning properly, including beer pong, and cornhole had stuck bean bags. With no staff overseeing the area, more machines became unusable as time went on. The arcade itself was still fun, but it would have been a better experience if more games were working and the space was less crowded. Toward the end, lines started forming for certain machines. I do not regret visiting, but the poor service makes it hard to justify returning. The arcade was a fun addition, but the mini golf itself felt average. I would also recommend eating beforehand, as the food here was slow and underwhelming.

I remembered the misfortune of not checking here before I ordered. This time, I checked a handful and then came across the reviews for Royal Chicken & Gyro. 2018 is looking up! The yellow truck is one of the most nondescript food trucks I've seen in a while, and one of the best experiences I've had. As I walked up, a nice woman greeted me. She was very nice, as was the other woman in the truck. I then asked the first woman what the combo over rice was. She explained that it was chicken and gyro meat over rice. She then went on to explain that gyro was beef and lamb mixed together. Being a meat lover, I decided that is what I would have, but let me back up for a moment. I have a problem. I generally order the most expensive thing on the menu (food-wise and proportional for 1-2 people). I love seafood, weird food, and more importantly, really good food. Back to the review at hand...So, I order the most expensive thing on the menu: Chicken and Gyro over rice. It was $10. It comes with chick peas (if you want) and a salad in a recyclable clamshell divided container. I asked for no napkins/plasticware seeing as I have those in my office. Let me say that all of the food (save the salad) was cooked very well. It was all very flavorful. The tzatziki sauce is wonderful as was the hot sauce. The meats were bigger than bite size, but not too big, and tender. Really everything about this meal was great including the chick peas and even the salad dressing. I'm even not one for salad dressing usually. The rice was also a good complement to the great flavors of the meat. I would recommend going to this food truck if you see it. You will not be disappointed. I will definitely return here if I see that yellow Royal Chicken & Gyro truck again. A random interesting note, roughly half of the food pictures have keyboards in the background.

On my second day in DC, I had brought a sack lunch to avoid paying museum shop prices - they're nuts! However, it was absolutely freezing and I really wanted something warm to sip. My friend and I noticed a bright orange, coffee kiosk, van thingee (yes that is the scientifically correct term, thank you...) and wondered if they would be just as bad, or offer some sort of competitive relief. We didn't stop right away, but all day I hoped to see the orange van again so I could check it out. When we finally did circle back around, on our way to the White House, the van was gone. My friend jabbed me playfully in the ribs and said, "aww, looks like your coffee van is no more." Then we turned a corner, and there it was! First thing I was pleased to find was that it destroyed gift shop prices on coffee by about $1-3 cheaper. Second point of awesomeness was that they round all their prices to the dollar. No $3.39 drinks here! Just nice round numbers, and they took my VISA. The coffee was fantastic. Incredibly strong (I love it that way) without being sharp at all. Very surprisingly rich. I haven't had a cup of coffee that good for $2 in a very, very long time. Half and half or whole milk are served by request from a pitcher and sugar or sugar substitute are self-serve. After having accepted defeat and disappointment in thinking I'd missed them, only to find them a moment later, it was a victory that could only be sweetened by free stuff. Did I mention the free stuff? There is free stuff: While almost every coffee shop that serves espresso these days will charge you 50 cents for a shot of flavoring, Maui Wowi has their coffee flavoring out on a rack attached to the side of the van so you can do it yourself - and the flavors are as complementary as cream and sugar. I chose English Toffee just because it's something I've never had in coffee before.
