I went with a group of 7 friends. The entrance is right outside Pier 13. We chose to do a boat with other people and luckily we were the first group there so we got to choose where we wanted to sit and sync our phone/playlist to the boat Bluetooth. BYOB- and they have coolers to keep your drinks cold, though it's just frozen packs in the cooler. The cycling is optional, the boat will still run, just a fun thing to do. We did go past Little Island, but unfortunately didn't make it all the way to the Statue of Liberty. A storm looked like it was headed our way, so the water was also very choppy. If you get sea sick, definitely take something ahead of time. It was 90 minutes and flew by. We had a great time! read more

Great way to wrap up the summer with a nice boat ride on the Hudson... Easy to book, easy to plan, and easy way to have fun! The crew here are on point and made this more enjoyable. You are given a timeframe and that will be your ride. Bring your own booze (no hard liquor though). A quick form needs to be filled out before getting on the boat for protocol reasons. Other than that, bring your own food and drinks. read more

Was scheduled to go out with some of my girls about 7 in total. Only 3 of us showed due to the weather. It was very windy and chilly. As we stood in line to board it started to sprinkle. We asked if we could reschedule and they said since another group was boarding they couldn't cancel. We asked if we could go a different day, maybe even a off day or during the week. The manager or owner emailed with me and asked questions about our group but never provided a reason as to why we couldn't change the date or get a refund. All in all they got my ticket and my 2 friends at 60 dollars each without providing a service. I would have liked to experience this but left a bad taste in my mouth. Just a bad way to do business. read more

Absolutely LOVED NYC Cycleboat! Rented a private tour for 26 of my friends for a sunday funday graduation party with a pirate theme and everyone had the best time! We loved our captain who I cannot for the life of me remember his name (older gentleman with white longish hair and white beard). Super friendly staff, so fun controlling the music thru bluetooth. Enjoyed the BYOB aspect. My group pregamed at Madison's which was a 4min walk away and there was also a liquor store around the corner. Drinks were flowing, the sun was shining, great vibes all around - can't wait to be back!! :D read more

Such a fun way to experience the city skyline! Having your own drinks and playlist while you pedal around the water with friends is so much fun and way better than hanging out at a crowded overpriced bar. It's so easy to reserve a spot online. And last minute friends could always buy an open spot in person. read more

While the idea is lovely the actual professionalism of the company makes this a skip. A group of friends and I went on a trip last week for a friends birthday. We were asked when we got on the boat if we would mind going to get gas on our trip and they would add half hour to the trip (which ended up being the time needed to get there not any type of compensation). Right off the bat this was a strange request, we contracted for charter not to run an errand. Plus we felt uncomfortable, if we said no would we have run out of gas in the middle of the Hudson? So we said yes. That was a HUGE mistake. When we got to the gas station dock in Jersey city the steering on the boat broke. Stranding us at a floating gas station for 2 hours. While our group continued to reach there was NO information provided by the captain, no comment on if we wanted a cab or any other form of getting back to Hoboken, and no sense of service or professionalism. Some of our group left and paid for their own cab home. The rest of us waited hoping it would be soon and made the best of it. Finally, they threw together a mock steering. Had I know it was not actually fixed (like if we had been informed) I never would have stayed on the boat. We ended up getting stuck outside the hoboken harbor. Where the Harbor master had to tow us in while the Captain on our boat continued to yell at our group to shut up and be silent. Totally ruining the entire trip. This process was 30 min of getting yelled at on a boat that rocked back and forth. Finally when we got off the dock we had to navigate a dock covered in dangerous obstacles (anyone who was handicap or a kid would have been stuck). We had a few people who got seasick from this process it was so rough. It felt really unsafe and we felt like somehow they blamed us for this issue. All of this would have been okay if the company had handled it with any professionalism. We were never informed on the condition of the boat and when WE contacted them following the day for a refund or some type of compensation we were told since we had a "good time" and a longer charter that we deserved nothing. After going back and forth they claimed they offered us a cab (they did not) and a discount on a future trip. They acted like because we made the best of a bad situation that made the dangerous experience our problem. Like any of us would step on a boat with this type of mismanagement again. Things happen to any business but how you handle it is key. I was expecting the owner to meet us on the dock to make sure we were safe but it was obvious he could care less. Don't bother unless you wanna pay for the privilege of being saved by the coast guard. read more

This was a great way to spend my birthday! We had such a fun time on this boat, Dave and Jerry were friendly and welcoming, and we got to choose which direction we wanted the boat to go in! They let us play our music and provided coolers for us to store our drinks in. It was perfect weather and every seat in the boat had a great view of the Hudson. We shared the boat with another group and they were super friendly as well. I highly recommend this experience for any group celebration! read more

Went to try the NYC cycleboat tour around the Hudson river for views of the Statue liberty and the city. The crew (esp Chris!) was friendly and helpful. I recommend going for the 1 1/2 tours (around sunset) definitely worth the buck. Also, great experience if you come with a group of friends. read more

We had such a BLAST on the NYC Cycleboats cruise out of Jersey City! The boat was a big piece of my sister's bachelorette and really kicked the party off! We loved that we COULD pedal but didn't have to, and having control of the music was really fun. The team on board was awesome, so chill and friendly despite the group of girls turning UP and being ridiculous. They had coolers with ice packs ready for our White Claws too! Awesome photo ops and overall a really awesome time. 10/10 would recommend!! read more

We had the absolute most best time on Cycleboats! We celebrated a friends birthday and couldn't have asked for a more fun experience. We went on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, brought a bunch of booze and enjoyed life to the fullest. We traveled down the Hudson with our BYOB cocktails and snacks and music was kicking and the sun was shining and everyone was just enjoying the sereneness of boating on the Hudson. We booked online which was super easy, as was check in. You could bring anything you wanted on the boat basically, with the exception of hard liquor. You aren't required to "cycle" or pedal, but it's definitely a fun experience to try out at least for a portion of the trip. Our captain was awesome - fun, full of energy, didn't bother us, but had just the right enthusiasm for this type of adventure. The sights were lovely, the boat and bathrooms were clean and the staff from the dock to the boat were exceptional. Totally reasonable at $50 a ticket. It was the perfect day for a celebration and we would certainly return whether it was to celebrate another event or even just to do something out of the ordinary. read more

My family and I did the cycle boat for the first time last Friday. 6 PM cruise. We rented the whole boat for 13 of us. We had the best time! 10 seats so we traded on and off so no one got tired, but don't worry there is a motor to help you along if you need it. Couldn't of asked for better weather, but there is a canopy if you do get some showers. The captain and crew member were very fun and nice. Brought coolers and beer. They had built in coolers, ice and cup holders. Don't forget to make a playlist! We can't wait to take more people on this boat ride! read more

I went with a bunch of friends on a Saturday night for a friend's birthday. The captains were very friendly and funny! The entrance is a little hard to find at night so we got there a little late. They have coolers and cup holders so it's convenient. They take you to the Statue of Liberty and back so it a bit of a short ride. I would recommend me this for a fun group outing. read more

A group of us from work (Jersey City teachers) booked an entire boat for a 4pm tour on our last day of school and we were not disappointed in the least! The boat was clean, comfortable and just the right size for our group of about 15. Chris and Joseph (our crew of 2) were professional, accommodating and attentive as they drove the boat but at the same time were super laid back and let us do our thing. BYOB, music and snacks, they provide cups, ice and coolers. The views of NYC, Jersey City and Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island were unmatched. Photo-ops for an hour and 40 minutes straight. All our group has been talking about is when we should book again, we'd like to make it a beginning and end of school ritual. Can't wait! read more

This is so awesome! A group of ten for a bachelorette was the perfect size for the boat. The boat had a cooler and Bluetooth speaker, a recipe for success for a fabulous afternoon on the water. 90 mins is the perfect amount of time to get a close up of the Statue of Liberty, great views of the NYC skyline, and get a good buzz on. Captains Cal & Chris were engaging and fun, while still letting us do our thing, and especially grateful to them for listening to 90 mins of our horrible singing to our party playlist. This was an absolute blast!!! The staff is super friendly, the scenery of lower Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty was breath taking, and the boat is BYOB. Can't say enough great things about NYC Cycleboats! I booked a boat for a friends bachelorette celebration and we had the best time! Chris, our tour guide was hilarious! The weather was perfect and the views were outstanding. We hungout around the Staute of Liberty for a bit.. took awesome pictures and then cruised home. Bring downloaded music to connect to the Bluetooth speaker on the boat! I'd do it again in a second! Highly recommend for a fun trip out on the Hudson! read more

The only thing and it has nothing to do with Sail NYC, was that we sailed on July 4th to make the Grucci fireworks part of the experience. The traffic getting into the marina was horrendous mostly due to the incompetence of the NJ park police. To start, the arrival instructions emailed in advance were accurate and easy to follow and accounted for local construction. Our tour was for us and one couple; Captain Bryant was our captain, and he was an absolute delight. He went through the safety information and told us what to expect from our time on the water as well as some information about our boat before leading us to it right on time. The boat was at the end of the floating docks with a lockable storage container nearby in case anyone wanted to store purses or backpacks. We got a bit of a chuckle once we got on board, because we had never seen seats like this on a boat before! The seats were two across and you sat on one by straddling. Grab bars were at the front. (There aren't any seatbelts!) Captain Bryant told us the seats in the front were the "bounciest", so naturally, that's what we chose. We went slowly out of the marine before -- with a heads up -- our captain got us to what felt like a pretty high speed! My mom and I are both moderate adrenaline junkies and were pretty thrilled. It was a definite rush but never, ever felt unsafe. From there, Captain Bryant alternating between "hitting the gas" and stopping at multiple spots for absolutely stunning views of midtown, downtown, the Brooklyn Bridge, DUMBO, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and more. He was super clear, easy to understand, and informative about each stop but never boring. He also took photos (with our own phones) at the stops whenever we wanted, which was very kind. He got us back after the hour -- again, right on time, and we chatted with him a bit about how enjoyable he finds this job. It's clear in the entire experience what a wonderful fit it is for him -- and he is for it. I wouldn't recommend this tour for someone with mobility or balance issues, or someone who would feel exposed and anxious in such a relatively small (but FAST) boat out on the rivers. But for me, it's one of my favorite boat tours I've ever taken anywhere. It was 1000% worth the money (with no upselling!).

NY Harbor Line maintains a small fleet of yachts, either sail (Schooner Adirondack) or motor yacht (Kingston or Full Moon) which can hold up to 40 - 50 people comfortably. Tours are very informative and some serve food and drinks. You can also bring your own food and non alcoholic beverages on-board. Definitely bring your camera for the many photo opportunities on the water! Prices are reasonable depending on the trip, some are an hour, 1 1/2 hours or 3 hours. The smoked salmon, capers and cream cheese bagels were delicious, the fresh fruit platter was refreshing, and the pastries, banana bread, croissants and apple tea cake were all beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. She was extremely knowledgeable and directed our attention with information and history as we moved through the waterways. A beverage is included on the tour, and they have a broad selection from still and sparking water to wines and beers. You can also bring your drinks outside. Most people didn't choose to come outside until later in the tour, so it was a great ride soaking up the sunshine with a breeze from the water. One of the highlights was definitely begin up close with the Statue of Liberty. There was plenty of time there for photos as we turned around before heading back. Getting to sail through the swing bridges was also pretty need. I definitely have a deeper understanding and appreciation for the architecture of the city, and we all had a really enjoyable afternoon!

The atmosphere was perfect, with classic Yacht Rock playing softly in the background as we set off to circumnavigate Manhattan, passing beneath twenty bridges and taking in breathtaking views around every corner. Every few minutes another iconic New York landmark appeared, and it genuinely felt like seeing the city for the first time all over again. The food was outstanding -- quite honestly the best food we enjoyed during our entire three-week trip through the United States. The smoked salmon, capers and cream cheese bagels were delicious, the fresh fruit platter was refreshing, and the pastries, banana bread, croissants and apple tea cake were all beautifully presented and incredibly fresh. The chicken and waffles were the perfect brunch dish and every course was thoughtfully prepared. A special thank you to the talented chefs whose attention to detail elevated what could have been a simple brunch into a truly memorable dining experience. Equally impressive was the service. Every member of staff we encountered was warm, welcoming, professional and genuinely passionate about ensuring guests had a wonderful experience. The hospitality was flawless from beginning to end. Peter (let's call him The Shepard going forward), mixed us quality drinks in the limo while en route between bar stops. As we pulled up to the second bar, already three drinks in, our lively gaggle of girls was now sufficiently liquored up as we headed into a romantic, dimly lit speakeasy. While we had a fantastic time, we'd left our indoor voices in the limo (along with our bags and coats for convenience), making such a low-key spot probably a poor choice in terms of venue. In between stops, The Shepard did a wonderful job of wrangling our large and increasingly silly group in between the limo and the various venue stops along the way. He managed to take photos when requested while managing to still pull us out of harm's way when we stood in the bike lane against his warnings. It was a great opportunity to check out different bars without having to deal with waiting in lines and navigating cabs or subways. With Peter mixing and even customizing drinks in the limo ("no pineapple juice please, it tastes like college") it made it for a really fun, no-hassle evening. For New Yorkers it's a great alternative perspective to a typical night out and offers a great opportunity to wear your cutest, sky-high, soul-pinching heels without worrying about walking a lot in them. For tourists it's a fully organized night-out without having to do any research.
