Customer service SUCKS. Both cashier and chef were ass holes. And the hot dogs felt like I was chewing on rubber!

There are a list of free toppings and some toppings cost. The signs are very straightforward. This is not a sit down place. There's a place to stand and eat but that's about it. It would have been more pleasant but there was a person asking for handouts around one of the exits. Not a place to park.. so walk there. Work up your appetite. Yum.

With…read moreno interest in cooking, I remember becoming a semi-regular at the Gray's Papaya located at 6th Ave and 8th St and always ordering the Recession Special: two dogs loaded with onions and a papaya drink. It wasn't the best quality frankfurter, but somehow it worked with my indiscriminate palette. Flash forward a century or so, and this is the only Gray's Papaya left in the city. Since I'm a survivor, I thought it only appropriate to take Jamie to the original flagship location and order what else but the Recession Special. Sure enough, they still offer it for $7.50. It was $1.95 when I was a child, but it's still a good deal consisting of 2 Hot Dogs (Photo 10) and a Medium Papaya Drink (Photo 9). The franks were the same as I recall, nothing special but if you add onions and pay an extra 75 cents for the chili, it just works. The papaya drink is not a fruit juice but a puree mixed with sugar and milk. It actually complements the dog in a guilty pleasure kind of way. There was a line but it moved fast. Plenty of room at the red mini-counter, so I was able to relive my youthful dining dalliance with little effort. FOOD / DRINK - 4 stars...forgive me for I have sinned AMBIANCE - 3 stars...looks the same as it did in the last century SERVICE - 4 stars...they're quick and not rude...decide what you want before you order TOTAL - 4 stars...hope it survives RELATED - Hungry in NYC? While food took awhile, we were no in a rush and the employees were friendly. The crif burger and New Yorker were too basic for me, but I enjoyed the elote topping for the elote dog. The tots were a nice side to pair with your meal. There's nothing like some hot dogs and burgers before/after drinking, so it's a smart pairing being next to all the bars. Would I come here solely for the hot dogs and burgers? Probably not. But it works great together with PDT.

The crif is pork and beef, New Yorker (all beef) and veggie option. I did a New Yorker (all beef) $4.75 with sauerkraut ($0.75) and the Spicy Redneck which featured a bacon wrapped crif dog with chili, coleslaw and picked jalapeños. Both satisfied the hot dog craving I had. There are also tater tots and burgers available. The bread was a bit stale, hence the 3 stars and the bun split on my New Yorker making it messy to eat. The woman behind the counter was friendly and suggested I try the dog featured this month- featuring a fried pickle or the Tsunami which has teriyaki sauce and pineapples. I would stop here again if in the area, but for basic dog a cart will hit the spot.

Located in the middle of Koreatown, we walked up to a quick grab-and-go stop rather than a traditional restaurant, with the focus being on getting a freshly fried snack and enjoying it while walking around the area. The shop itself is small with limited space to stand or eat, so most people grab their order and continue exploring, and the ordering process is a little different since you order through kiosks outside before picking up your food inside. The main reason to visit is the hot dogs themselves. We ordered a few options and found the batter comes out crispy on the outside while the inside stays warm and cheesy, especially with options like the mozzarella hot dog where the cheese pull is a big part of the experience. The potato-covered versions add another layer of texture, giving you a crunchy outside with the soft, stretchy cheese or sausage inside, and the portion sizes are also larger than expected, making it feel more filling than a typical snack. One thing that makes Korean hot dogs different is the ability to customize them with sauces and toppings. Adding options like honey mustard, boom boom sauce, ketchup, or other drizzles changes the flavor and makes each bite a little different, and some versions can also come with sugar, which is more traditional for Korean-style corn dogs but may be unexpected if you are used to American fair-style corn dogs. We found the savory versions easier to enjoy because they let the crispy batter and cheese stand out more. The staff move quickly and the food usually comes out fresh, and the location is also part of the appeal because it fits naturally into exploring the area. After grabbing a hot dog, there are plenty of nearby dessert and drink options, making it easy to turn it into a casual food stop. The lack of seating is probably the biggest downside, but for a street-food style snack it does not take away too much from the experience. Jongro Rice Hotdog is a fun place to try if you want something different from a normal corn dog. The crispy coating, melted cheese, and variety of flavors make it a memorable snack, especially when eaten fresh, offering a quick, satisfying stop that fits naturally into a walk through Koreatown.

I feel like because I had everything on the menu before I didn't have much expectations but MAN I WAS WRONG!! EVERYTHING HERE WAS SO SO SO GOOD. We sat down and started with the bulgogi kimbap which had an amazing smokey/fire grilled/charcoal flavor?! This is not your average bulgogi kimbap. Next we tried #7 which was Half Mozza & Half Hot Dog and wow PLEASE get the cinnamon sugar coating with this! There are so many sauces and we decided with the ketchup and this fancy garlic one and man it was so good. Lastly we tried the ham&cheese toast which once again exceeded our expectations and the sauce on it was so good not to mention the fluffy bread and everything just blending so well together for the perfect bite. It's been awhile I was surprised by how good something was and I'm already craving this again while writing this review..
