I love these pretzels. Personally, I love the bags of pretzel bits, I like to take them home and dip them in a cocoa hazelnut spread, as a snack or dessert. I love buying the honey mustard pretzels to give with gifts. I really want to try their soft pretzels, but they are always sold out. I just tried their honey, mustard, onion pretzels which come in bits and pieces in an 8oz bag. Googled good food gifts from NYC and they were one that popped up. Crunchy, good flavor. I got 10 bags at $7 a bag and gave most out as gifts. Positive feedback so far. Liked that they sold them in a farmers market in Union Square. Easy subway access. It would have been nice to get some discount for buying 10 bags. Of they could have thrown on a soft pretzel. But whatever. read more

My favorite pretzels outside of Pennsylvania Dutch country! Almost every time we shop at the Union Square Greenmarket, we get a small bag - lasts a week or two and then we buy them fresh again! I used to love their whole wheat ones, but lately I prefer a good bag of "brokens," easy to nibble and rationalize, lol! Better than a bag of pretzels that's been sitting on a supermarket shelf for probably weeks or months, and the people are so great to chat with! I ordered 5 bags of dark pretzels and received 5 bags of incinerated pretzels. I have tried reaching the business via e-mail and phone several times but get NO answer. I love me some Martin's pretzels! My favorite is the unsalted, whole wheat. You can get a whopping 11 of those bad boys for a mere $3. The guy who sells the pretzels has a very warm smile and always offers an extra for the road. Today, I overheard a patron reply "no thanks". Why would anyone purchasing Martin's pretzels refuse an extra? I was tempted to yell out, "I'll take her free pretzel!", but decided against making a fool of myself as I foresee many more trips to the stand in my future. read more

YUMM I love Pennsylvania dutch style pretzels. I remember 1st hearing about Martin's a few years ago on the Food Network. They are crunchy and flavorful. They are greaat. If you don't like it too salty, then opt for the unsalted. The people working the stand are very generous and are willing to give out samples to try. Get the 2 pounder and bring it for a party. For years, the Martin's Pretzels stand at Union Square has had a little sign that says "Pretzels to cope." And that was cute, and kind of true. But now it's *really* true. There's just something about noshing on one of their freshly baked pretzels, perfectly crunchy with their nice malty note, that is very comforting. I like to munch on them when I'm working and thinking. Also, I recently discovered that they pair incredibly well with rye whiskey: a highly recommended combo. These are the best pretzels you will ever eat. They are made lovingly made in Pennsylvania Dutch country. They have been reviewed by many and called the Mercedes Benz of pretzels. The only ways to get them is mail order or at a green market. You won;t be sorry. Not to mention ladies, the men who sell the pretzels are notoriously cute and even sign autographs. I wanted to like these guys since I support most of the farmers at the Union Sq. Greenmarket, but I couldn't make myself like the pretzels.One of my favorite chocolatiers uses their pretzels, so I was really excited to try them. To my dismay, they were really dry and hard, and even the salted one was too bland on the inside and too salty on the outside. They have whole wheat and regular, salted and non-salted. The guys who run the stand were cool and really passionate about their pretzels. We still bought some pretzels to share with other people and see if they'll work better incorporated into recipes. read more

40th anniversary pretzel 12 pack. These are the worst tasting pretzels/snacks I've ever had. Tried to get my daughter or her co-workers to take them, but no one wants them. Martin's Pretzels contacted me privately on Facebook trying to make me feel bad about leaving a bad review, telling me to contact them privately rather than making it public, and crying that it lowers their rating. They messaged me asking what they can do to correct it (on 06/29/2022) and I requested a refund. They asked me for my email address and order number on 06/29/2022 and the next day asked for pictures of the items (guess the order number wasn't good enough) which I provided. That was on 06/30/2022. Haven't heard from them since. I messaged them again on FB early in the morning on 07/05/2022, and again on 07/06/2022, and again this morning. Still nothing. No response, no refund. Clearly now they're ignoring me and have no intention of "correcting" anything. This bad review now is not only for awful products that taste cheaply processed, burnt and are terribly dry, but for rotten customer service as well. read more

I've just received a shipment of Martin's Pretzels, which I've enjoyed on visits to Union Square. With shipping, the cost came to over $40, a hefty fee, but, I figured worth a splurge. But upon opening the box, I was met with a religious tract with instructions for being saved. I don't appreciate being proselytized with my snack foods. Especially when I'm paying a premium. Now looking for a suitable replacement; Martin's has lost my business. read more

Very tasty pretzels, and excellent customer service, once we got through to the right person. My father ordered a case of pretzels that arrived mostly broken. Email customer service was not super helpful, but he was able to get through to someone on the phone who refunded his order and sent a new batch free of charge. Let me say the pretzels are fantastic. I've bought them from the farmers markets since 1984-85. When we moved to San Francisco in 1997, we had them delivered. We continued to do that for a while, then stopped. We started ordering again over a year ago. We ordered the $40.00 box, about once a month. The pretzels were still great... for about 7 months. At first, one or packages in the box were stale. We took that as the cost of doing business. Month by month, there were more stale packages until last month, April 2014, half the box was stale. We let Martin's know once we had 5 stale packages in our order. No reply. Each month, the amount of stale bags increased. Again, we emailed them. No reply. Once we hit the 50/50 stale to fabulous mark, we called. No reply. Called again. No reply. And again. Guess what? No reply. We miss them and would love to order them again, but we don't want to pay $40.00 for $20.00 worth of pretzels, if we're lucky. At the rate they're going, we'd be getting $15.00 worth of pretzels for the bargain price of $40.00. We would just like a reply so we could order more pretzels. read more

I have been eating Martins pretzels for years. When i visit Lancaster once or twice yearly i will stock up on a dozen 8oz bags to take home. Between that time i have been doing mail order to the new york location s that was the first site that came up from search so i assumed they were the same (although they sell them in small individual bags which is something i dont get when i visit Lancaster to purchase them). I do prefer the bigger bags. Now i had no idea until the other day after reading this post and doing a little searching that there are two locations on the internet, one in NY and the other in Akron, PA which is listed a few more down in the search area, so indeed the Akron PA location does mail order the pretzels as well. Akron location is where they sell the bigger bags and sell them in the grocery stores in lancaster area. I have noticed a big difference lately in the quality of the pretzels from New York and it had me baffled why these werent as good as the ones i purchase in PA. Well there is a website Martinspretzelspa.com which has the normal bags of 8 oz pretzels and they are so much better so if you are a Martins fan try that website for the real deal. I had called to confirm this and the woman on the phone said they were two different places although the two brothers own them, so that explains the difference in quality. Plus past two order to New York they screwed up my orders from heavily salted dark to lightly salted when all i wanted was regular. Will not be ordering from them again.
