This was our first time dining at this recently opened restaurant. The ambience is quite casual and the service is very attentive. They go out of their way to please their customers. I mentioned how much I miss katy rolls - even though they're not on the menu, 2 appeared. There are plenty of vegetarian options. The food, while conveniently delivered in take out trays (it is a casual place), is quite good. The takeout trays were a great idea as portions were very generous. Every dish we had was delicious. Just as a heads-up, there are no standards on what level of spice is "medium, spicy, etc.). I suggest requesting a level a bit lower than you might request elsewhere. We had dinner tonight at NYC Indian Grill as it was one of the few establishments open on Christmas night. The four of us agreed it was an interesting evening for sure. When we arrived, the place was busy and most tables were filled. We expected a normal sit-down experience based on the look of the restaurant but it was more like a cafeteria system. You order at the counter and then eat at a table. We were a little put off by the use of plastic silverware and paper plates based on the cost of the meals. We ordered the Butter Chicken, Lamb Korma, Shrimp Curry, and Shrimp Biryani. I know they were busy and good food takes time, but it took almost an hour to get our food. The food was definitely worth it, but make sure you have time to wait if you stop in. The spice level was on point for me, I'm sure they could have added some more heat if I asked, but I felt it was done well. Some of my friends thought it (Shrimp Curry) was a bit spicy but still palatable. The biggest issue we faced, not entirely on the fault of the establishment, was the 27 member party that came in just before we got our food. There was some issue with a misunderstanding about reservations or a call-ahead and there was no room for them. Instead of having one person come in, the entire party came in and milled around the tables while they argued. It was loud and uncomfortable. They kept bumping into people trying to eat and were generally insufferable. My only complaint with the staff here is that they did not intervene to avoid disrupting those of us who were already seated/waiting/eating. The food really was excellent. Really 5 stars if judging the food alone. We all agreed that we would love to have it again but also agreed that it seems more like a take-out restaurant charging sit down prices. The canned/bottled drinks, plastic cutlery, paper plates, food served in to-go containers, higher than average prices, and lack of initiative in dealing with rowdy/rude customers are what led to my giving it 3-stars. Stopped in for a quick bite on a rainy day. The food came out quickly and was tasty, was happy to be able to leave with some leftovers due to the generous portions. The service was friendly as well. Maybe it was just me, but I was initially confused with the layout, I think they could be a little clearer that you order at the counter because initially it appeared to be a sit down restaurant. It was just an okay experience...you order food at a counter, and the lady encouraged us to select their buffet. I looked at their buffet options and asked if they would make some fresh chicken wings, and she said they would. However, they never did. The food was a bit sad. I was hungry so at least there was food available to eat. In fairness some of the flavors were decent but the food was definitely out a long time and the meat was not tender. I would recommend just ordering off the menu if you do end up eating here. Also the lady kept asking for 5 star reviews so I feel most Google reviews are inflated too read more

We stopped at this restaurant after completing an escape room nearby. It appears to be a sit down restaurant, but you actually order food at the counter. Even though we were dining in, our food came in plastic and styrofoam containers with styrofoam plates. When we ordered water we were given bottles of water. I was bothered by the amount of waste in this business model. We enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and the chicken biryani was tasty but the raita it came with was not my favorite. I was also surprised that the "medium" level spice was almost no spice at all. On the plus side the staff checked on us frequently and was very friendly. Excellent food! Whenever I'm in PA, I need some spice, and I'm so glad to have found this gem. Their goat biryani was fabulous. The aloo served with their Pani puri is seasoned so nicely. We also had their Mysore sada dosa which was made with fresh garlic. Already can't wait to go back. Service was great as well. We took my in-laws, who were visiting from out of town, there on New Year's Day and still fantastic! We were able to push 2 tables together and seat all 7 of us comfortably. They were all very impressed, said it was delicious and enjoyed the whole experience! The NYC Indian Grill on Main Street in Stroudsburg, PA is an Indian-food takeout place masquerading as a restaurant. It's comparable to a Chinese-food takeout place, but the prices are a bit more expensive -- in line with that of a reasonable sit-down diner. It's a new establishment in town. So, on Sunday evening of October 26, 2025, my partner and I decided to try it out. Looking at the place from the sidewalk, the first thing you notice is several rows of bright, ornate chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, giving the impression of a restaurant. The front door opens to a large, open dining area furnished with several tables supplied with condiments and napkin dispensers, lit overhead by the ornate chandeliers and attended by a young waitress, all of which gives the impression of an actual sit-down restaurant or diner. We sat at a table and the waitress came over to take our orders. She was friendly and helpful, but clearly inexperienced. She did not start by asking what we would like to drink, so we asked for a couple of glasses of water. She told us that they do not serve water, but we could purchase a plastic bottle of water from the soft-drink refrigerator located near the cash-register area in the rear of the room. That was the first indication that we were not in an actual restaurant. The waitress took our food orders and, after several minutes, delivered our food in Styrofoam containers, along with cheap plastic forks, spoons and Styrofoam plates, confirming the masquerade. The plastic spoons virtually melted when we used them to dish portions of the hot food from the containers onto the plates, and the forks did likewise when using them to eat. The food portions were generous and the quality was good, but not great -- again, on par with a typical takeout place, and significantly less spicy than what we ordered. The waitress did come back to our table to ask if everything was OK and if we needed anything else, in keeping with the illusion that we were in an actual restaurant. Upon finishing our meals, we went to the register and paid our bills. I'd sum up our experience by saying it's all about meeting expectations. By all appearances, the establishment leads you to expect to be dining at a restaurant, but you end up eating at a table in a take-out place. Even the lowliest of diners offer free water and serve food on real plates with real cutlery. The price of the food was comparable to that of a reasonable sit-down diner, but the quality of the food -- and the overall experience -- was that of takeout. And by those measures, it didn't meet our expectations. So don't be fooled by the tables, the condiments, the napkin dispensers, the ornate chandeliers and the waitress. This is not a restaurant. It's a takeout place masquerading as one. Nevertheless, if you want Indian food to take home, it's a bit pricey for takeout, but the NYC Indian Grill on Main Street in Stroudsburg, PA might be worth trying. read more
