I requested a couch cleaning service and I'm very happy with the results. I spoke with the owner (I think?) beforehand to ask questions and get an estimate before committing to a date. Day of, they came and explained what would be included in the service + shared what to do after for best results (e.g., flipping of cushions). Unfortunately not a positive experience. PLEASE use another service. Was quoted a much lower price over the phone. When the tech arrived for the consult, the price more than doubled. But I was assured the job would be done well. When the rug was returned there was a stain that I was then told "you didn't say nothing about". The only solution I was provided included me paying more money to have the rug taken back and completed properly. Instead of working with me to find a solution, the tech then begins accusing me of not wanting to pay which was not the case. I did not want to pay more than the $300 I was already billed for. From there the conversation became about me trying to avoid payment instead of how to fix the issue with the rug. After loud talking me and over talking me he eventually walked out and said "you don't want to pay, you will hear from lawyers." A fairly simple customer service issue has now escalated to this company threatening to take legal action against me for a job they half completed. Please choose a different company! read more

Unprofessional. We are returning customers and refer clients to this company. This week we needed someone to clean our carpets in our old apartment. The cleaner arrived 1 hour late resulting in us having to leave him at the apartment with our super to clean the carpet so we can go to work. We told him we're coming back after we meet with our client. While we were with our client the cleaner called us and we returned his phone call 10 min later. Only to find out that the cleaner dumped DIRT BACK ON THE CARPET because we missed his phone call and thought we weren't going to come back and pay. ITS OUR APARTMENT how are we not going to come back? Now we have our apartment with BLACK dirt everywhere and we have new tenants moving in tomorrow. Very uncomfortable experience. I was quoted a price and when tech arrived, it all changed. First it was trying to sell me products to use, then asking if I wanted to sign up for cleaning every so many months. Then it was had to charge more because hallway and rooms were bigger. I was talked down to and felt that he looked around saw a big house and thought they could get more from me. He was disrespectful and it was impossible to talk to him. I was charged more than double of what I was quoted. I was accused of not understanding that the area was large and wasn't sure that steam cleaning would take out small stains. I only wanted a steam cleaning to refresh. He preferred to talk over me and not listen. Like I said they Charged more than double and wasn't even here one hour. They were unprofessional.. I had a great experience with NYC Local Carpet. I called for an in-home estimate last week and David came within the hour. He gave me a quote for a deep cleaning (my carpets had never been cleaned) and was willing to take my two 9x12 rugs with him then and there. (I was very impressed how easily he was able to carry them by himself!) He said it would take 7 business days, but was able to accommodate my request to have them returned a day or two earlier than that. When he delivered them, he helped me lay out the carpets and reposition them. I was so impressed and delighted that evidence of the many years of dust, baby and dog throw up, dog pee, fireplace soot, chocolate cake, a full glass of red wine, a can of coke, and a mug of coffee were all erased from the carpets! They even smell clean! I am very happy with a job well done and the excellent customer service. Cleaning my large carpets was not a chore I looked forward to (which is why I'd never had it done), but David made it very easy for me. It was not cheap, but it was money well spent. This company absolutely ruined my piece of furniture. They never spot checked the fabric and proceeded to clean the entire piece which then discolored all the fabric and caused an even larger stain on the side where all the solution dripped down. When I called to speak with them he told me this was my fault and would not come back to try and correct it. He was treated my assistant like garbage when she called and that she was a woman and didn't know what she was talking about. He hung up on me three times 100% would stand behind his worker or his work. He then still proceeded to cash my check knowing he completely ruined a brand new $2,000 piece of furniture. David and his team at NYC Local Carpet were our saviors. Our apartment became infested with carpet beetles. They destroy everything made of natural fibers and took dead aim at our wool wall-to-wall rugs in our bedrooms. The carpets were less than three years old and installed during our remodeling process. The exterminators came in and evaluated the situation, told us we needed to have everything cleaned in our apartment as this was the only way to guarantee all the beetles would be eliminated. My wife and I took everything to the cleaners, and then evacuated our apartment for one week. The exterminators came in and tore our rugs from the floor, creating more damage to the rugs. The exterminators did not re-tack the carpets to the floor. They were also dirty from the exterminating process. We turned to Yelp! Found David/NYC Local Carpets and he was responsive and told us what we needed to do. He came to our apartment , evaluated the rugs, confirmed what we knew that the beetles and the exterminators damaged the rugs. His team came in, fixed the carpets, and cleaned them. The result was outstanding. You must look hard to the damage, and it is hard to find. The cleaning was excellent. They look like the carpets we purchased. While I would not recommend anyone getting carpet beetles, but if you do, or just need your carpets cleaned, David is your go-to-person. A++ in our book read more

Just got my carpet back. It had a few stains in it left. One pretty bad one. I was told since I needed it back so quick they couldn't clean it enough. I had no rush with the carpet and when they said it can be done by Thursday I said that's great. A recommendation for next time. If you can't do the work properly just call! Say you need more time. I would have appreciated that more than getting a stained rug back. They offered to take it back but I declined. I have so much to deal with in my move and am missing work waiting for them to drop of the carpet. Communication is key and I would have appreciated a call. They did clean the fringes great and they did fix a fringe that was broken. But 300 dollars and to get it back with stains was not worth it. I did use a stain spot remover and the stain looks slightly better so it's not something completely impossible. read more

Too expensive. I spoke with someone on the phone who said they would send someone on site to give me quote. I wanted an estimate before even agreeing to that so I asked at a max what would cleaning my couch and rug cost. It was a fairly reasonable price so agreed to the on site. When the guy came for the on-site the cost for both services tripled. It was extremely frustrating and in my opinion untruthful. The on-site guy also increased the price of the rug from what he originally said while standing in my house, which was comical. I would go somewhere else or rent your own couch/ carpet cleaner.
