I'm a bit in shock. I just scrolled my reviews and realized I've never posted about NYPD even though I've been coming here for 20+ years. When I first moved to Phoenix from the east coast in 1998, I wasn't prepared for the lack of decent pizza in this town. I tried so many places and just couldn't. Finally, someone who was also a transplant from the east said, "Have you tried NYPD yet?" That was that. My highest compliment for them is that as I've changed, they've changed too! They were one of the first pizza places in town to offer a high-quality vegan cheese offering, and to not up-charge for replacing the dairy cheese with it. I appreciate it so much! Lately, I've especially been appreciating their $10 1-topping 14 inch pizza specials! I picked one up on Friday and it was perfect. What I like about the pizza: soft yet firm NY style crust (and an excellent Sicilian style for those who want it), tomato sauce that isn't too sweet, and nice, thinly sliced onions. And of course the vegan cheese. It's good, old-school pizza - no muss no fuss. I also love the garlic knots (with no cheese) and the salads are simple but good. The Camelback location has barely changed over the years - which is fine by me! Parking can get busy during peak shopping times but there are short-term pick-up spots. read more

I felt the need to give an update. I visit the location frequently and have been taking advantage of the "Too Good to Go" surprise bags, which are supposed to have a value of $18.00, but you get them for $5.99--a really good deal. I used to get four slices of pizza and a salad or sometimes a dessert. They have a new manager; everyone there is really friendly except for her. They have reduced the surprise bag size from four to two slices and a salad. When I questioned the size with her, she curtly replied, "That's the way they trained me to do it. You get what we have left." Needless to say, I was disappointed and didn't really like the customer service she gave me. Now I have to decide if I will return, even though I like their pizza, because I left with a bad taste in my mouth, and it wasn't from the pizza. I guess I can always go to the new Jet's Pizza or maybe Crust or Doughbird in the neighborhood instead. I like them too, oh well! read more

After driving aimlessly for an hour looking for something to eat we could agree on we ended up at NYPD Pizza. I hate Phoenix at times because it can be a nightmare to park, but with hr parking behind the building it was just a short walk inside. We were greeted right away and drink orders taken. Our server was nothing but smiles. I really loved that. We were starving so we started with this chili wings, side salad and half order of fried zucchini. Everything was delicious. The salad was cold, crisp and full of veggies. The zucchini was cut a bit bigger than I'm used to but flavor was there. I really enjoyed the sweet and spice of the wings, but wished they'd come with some wet wipes because they were sticky. Once finished with our appetizers we added a small pepperoni, black olive and ham pizza. It came out pretty quick, perfect crispy crust and sauce had good flavor. Vibe is pretty chill and what you'd expect from most pizza spots. There's a small tv above the bar. Decent sized eating area with booths and tables. I'd come again if in the area for sure. read more

Very different from other NYPD stores...guess they run it differently .. 1. Error A pizza cook took my order.. very very nice guy.. while honorable that's not what I want.. I'm used to SERVERS taking my order to make sure there's no errors. I like NYPD so this is forgivable and so much as this does not keep happening. 2nd error was that I asked for a pepperoni sausage and black olive pizza.. The best pizza I've ever had was served out of a window off of Leavenworth St in San Francisco. It didn't have a name, it didn't have a number, it didn't even have a door, all it had was just enough counter space to hold a dollar or a plate, but not both at the same time. The second best pizza I ever had was NYPD off of Camelback Rd. I tried them for the first time twenty years ago and I try them again every time I pass through. Not once have I ever been disappointed. Their Quattro Formaggio is the only cheese pizza I've ever had where I wasn't left wondering if it wouldn't have maybe been better off with additional toppings. read more

Our server Adrianna was super amazing and helpful with the menu. We had an order of boneless bbq wings and an order of traditional honey hot wings to start. Both were superb! We have been casually looking for really great wings and we have now found our spot. The flavor of both were great, but my favorite was the honey hot. Not greasy, just great flavor and cooked perfectly. We split a Brooklyn Family Pizza that is pepperoni, sausage, and basil. Good grief their dough/crust is soft and chewy and made a great pie. The food is pretty good... the only reason for 2 stars. I had ordered about a year ago and ended up canceling after the food was an hour late and had not even left the restaurant. No attempt to even notify. I tried again, hoping it was a one off. I was wrong! Same experience. After about 20 minutes after the given delivery time, I called the restaurant and was curtly told there were other items in front of mine, so the order was sent out. Genuinely disappointed & very dissatisfied with how quickly the service went downhill. The food is okay not as good as it used to be. I decided to give this place one more chance since it USED to be my wife & daughters favorite restaurant. The service was over the top about a year ago. We went around 6 pm & it was slow. We were waiting for about 10 minutes before anyone sat us or even noticed us! We're very understanding but for a restaurant who is "big" on hospitality, it seems like they can't even do the bare minimum. Also is it normal for the (manager?)to speak down on his own employees? Very unprofessional. Instead of talking to your employees about other employees prioritize your customers. We were in the area and wanted a quick bite. NYPD was open for dine in and here we landed. Masks were required and all staff was wearing and their seating was every other table and sanitized. We definitely felt comfortable eating in. Our server was great and very attentive. We got a baked ziti with meatballs and traditional honey bbq wings. The food was prepared quickly and on our table within 15 minutes or so. The wings were crispy and they were not skimpy on the sauce. They were perfect! The pasta was cooked perfect and it was sooooo good with the cheese, meatballs and garlic knots. Big plate of food and definitely get your money's worth. The Brushetta is a white pizza with no sauce, but you don't miss it because the ricotta and brushetta on top is so rich. Warning: some might say it's too heavy on the garlic, but I personally loved it. The crust was crunchy and flavorful, and the thickness of the pizza was the sweet spot of crispy-thin but not so thin that all your toppings slide off. We had a half and half pizza with pepperoni and anchovies and the other half with Canadian bacon and pineapple. Excellent! I had a bee and we split a bottle of Lodi Red blend. The best gluten free vegan pizza delivery I've ever had! OMG! We found NYPD because my husband wanted pizza (he can eat anything--no restrictions) and I usually have little to no luck finding gluten free and vegan options. We ordered Saturday night in January 2021 through DoorDash and had a great experience. The pizza arrived piping hot even though we are about 10 minutes away. The vegan cheese (Daiya) used is really good--it's stretchy, melty, and very creamy. I was able to modify a few ingredient due to food sensitivities and my requests were honored no problem. This restaurant is amazing. Missy was such a great waitress - knowledgeable, attentive, and kind. We ordered Vinny's Favorite with meatballs, pepperoni, green pepper, mozzarella, and tomatoes - first time ever having this combo, and we loved it. I also had a glass of Chardonnay, which a solid choice. They offered to bake it a little crispier with all of the toppings, and I'm so glad they did.
