We always order to go! We had never had an issue when you open the pizza and it is different from what you ordered!

Um I've been waiting to go here for so long because it's the ONLY place that has deep dish gluten free pizza. So I finally went with my boyfriend and it exceeded my expectations. The place itself is definitely casual but had some warmer mood lighting. Pretty empty on a Saturday night. Deep dish pizzas take over 30 minutes to come out, which is advertised on the menu so you know ahead of time. We both got the small cheese deep dish with butter crust, my boyfriend regular and me gluten free. Small is supposed to feed two people. Gluten free only comes in small. You can get regular in personal to large however. Definitely recommend going with the simple cheese, sometimes classic is the best way to go so you can appreciate the beauty of a pizza. Definitely also recommend going with the butter crust. My gosh, it had the perfect bite to it, both chewy and crispy. A little more rich but in the best ways possible. There was gobs of sauce, which I loooove. So fresh and bursting with savory flavor and could tell it was homemade with few ingredients (because you only need a few). The cheese pull was insane and also had a generous amount (and of course had to add more parm on top). I could only eat half and the leftovers tasted just as delicious the next day. My boyfriend basically finished his so know it's possible I gave a slice to my dad because I'm so nice and he very much enjoyed it and he's a harsh critic for gluten free pizza. Follow up review. Always my go to location for Lou's. Right near where I live and super easy to pickup. Parking can get crowded if the restaurant next door is busy, but they do have dedicated spaces for Lou's only. Then just walk in and pick up. Absolutely horrible throughout. Live about 15 minutes away and ordered delivery. Took 1 hour and 40 minutes to deliver. Pizza was cold, salad was warm, found hair in our food. I'm in Arizona on vacation, with a bunch of Chicago natives. We decided to order this to the hotel. I will say I'm seeing a lot of reviews that are negative about the brick and mortar establishment, and I can't comment on that because I haven't seen it or been inside, but delivery was great. It's exactly what we wanted in a late night pizza, but a step above the normal delivery options. It's got a little bit deeper crust, but I wouldn't call it deep dish. The cheese and the sauce were so good. Also for the amount of cheese and sauce that are on there the crust is really thick and crisp, which is important to hold it all up, and can be held with one hand. Also, what is really important for me with Pizza, eating a cold slice the next day. We threw it in the mini fridge and got to have a few slices the next day and it was just as good, if not slightly better. (I think you have to be in to call Pizza for this to ring true). read more

Our waiter is Austin so friendly he suggests food recommendation like the must have chicken wings super yummy perfect side for the world's famous deep dish pizza. It's my first time eating here, but I highly recommend their delicious amazingly fresh ingredients pizza not salty like other pizza restaurants. With regards to the pasta you can really taste the fresh herbs they put in the dish and how aromatic it smells. We definitely enjoy our food experience. Service was amazing, but the pizza was not. The crust was completely doughy (very undercooked) the vegetables were absolutely waterlogged on the "Lou". Both pizzas were a disappointment. Of the six colleagues not one enjoyed their meal. I'm glad I had thought of sides and deserts! Cute little shop in Arcadia that we wanted to love but unfortunately can't say we did. We got a large thin crust veggie pizza, and added sausage. I'm glad we ordered the sausage because that's the only thing you could really taste on this pizza. The red sauce was so bland, and the veggies didn't have any crunch or kick to them, we quite honestly couldn't even figure out what vegetables were actually on it... besides sautéed onions? If you like deep dish, then they make a good pizza but if you like a thin crust, beware. Twice now the thin crust has been hard as a rock. I asked a chef friend & he said it is probably that the crust was made & sat there or it was just overcooked. Also, the beef sandwich is very good but the bread is awful. Ours was so small a piece & soaked it appeared to be an afterthought or what was left over from a larger loaf. I order ed delivery ! A simple Med Pizza & Wings. I ask plain wings no sauce. Thins was a delivery order. The wings were dry and burned!!! It was our go-to pizza spot, however, after our recent experience, we'll likely never go back. We placed an order at 2:00p for a 5:00p pick up. This was on Halloween night, which coincided with a World Series game, so we expected it to be busy and to be a little late. Unfortunately, our experience was much worse. We arrived at 4:45 for a 5:00p pick-up, which was a simple thin crust cheese and a small Lou's classic. The lobby was full of people waiting, so obviously they were behind. The issue wasn't as much the wait as it was the lack of communication and the manager who hung out two young women employees to dry in the front and withstand the brunt of a lobby full of angry patrons. It ended with me leaving at 6:15p, no pizzas in hand, no refund because they were too busy to refund...and they wrote my name down on a post-it note. Two days later, no refund, and when we called right when they opened...with no World Series game happening, the manager is "too busy" to speak. We've been weekly customers for several years and due to this and the awful approach by the manager, we probably won't deal with it again. It's good - but expensive and poorly run, so we'll go to a place down the street with a manager/owner who cares and pizza is half the price. read more

In these Covid times, it seems like everything you purchase is either going up in price or portions downsized as part of shrinkflation. It starts to make one paranoid. Well, I ordered a large The Malnati Chicago Classic to treat my parents visiting from out of town. It is my Lou's favorite. However, I don't remember it being almost $35 with tax. I have eaten countless true Chicago Style pizzas in the actual Windy City. The Chicago Style pizzas are known for a flaky, buttery crust, a layer of hefty amount of cheese and then topped with sausage and red sauce. The pizza is still delicious! The sausage is light and not overly spicy. The crust so tasty you even enjoy the vertical crust edge. Get extra parmesan to shake on top. Yet, I was left wondering when I first opened the box if the amount of cheese and sausage/sauce had been corporately downsized. Instead of the red sauce going edge to edge, it fell two inches short all the way around. Then, when cut, it didn't seem as thick as it once was. It might have just been my hungry eyes deceiving me. Ugh Lou Malnati's! I so badly want to like it but it's just not good. I got lured in via the pics (which all look amazing!) but I ended up disappointed. I had Lou Malnati's in Chicago when I went back in 2016 and I didn't enjoy it. I was wishing I had gone to Gino's instead. But that was years ago. So I was surprised to see Lou Malnati's here in Scottsdale after I moved here a few months ago. I've been trying to find a great pizza shop here in Scottsdale (I had soooo many faves back home in Ohio!). So I figured I'd give Lou's another try-- especially since the pics looked mouthwatering. I appreciate that you can get a personalized pizza. It's the perfect size-- and my fave size to get when it's just me wanting to treat myself with a to-go pie. The ease of ordering on their website was also a plus. When I pulled up, the employee outside was fast and friendly. Everything I listed above is great and all....but when the pizza doesn't actually taste good, I just cannot rate it anything more than 2 stars. I just don't enjoy the sauce--it's not flavorful enough. The crust is also lacking flavor and could use more butter, garlic, etc. I just can't see myself going back here and it's definitely not on my list for my trip to Chicago next month either. I am giving this 2 stars for the service. We went during lunch time during the week- it wasn't busy at all. Our waitress seemed to just be going through the motions. She would come by to ask me how my food was but then walk away MID SENTENCE ( hello). She really had no concerns if I liked the pizza or NOT, can you say RUDE? A friend recommended Lou Malnati's pizza, and the pictures in their advertising make the pizza look delicious. Tonight, we gave it a try. Not only is it greatly more expensive than other pizza places (which I consider outstanding and delicious), the crust was like flavorless crackers (lavosh-ish). Brittle. Crunchy. We ordered a deep dish and a thin crust so we could try both. Both had the same type of dry and crunchy crust. The cheese was more chewy than fresh mozzarella and the sauce was bleh. The thin crust was a bit over-cooked, presented with a brownish cheese vs. the light and juicy looking cheese in the ads. The whole pizza was dry and flavorless. The deep dish (also chewy cheese) was better, but not worth going there again, really at all, but especially at their ridiculous prices. Sadly disappointed. We went to the take-out location at Alma School and Ocotillo. The service was pleasant, but that's the only thing positive thing I can say about Lou Malnati's. read more
