Jumb O'Bagel Breakfast Sandwich - Everything Half + Half (BEC + Taylor Ham, Egg, Cheese)
    John R.

My review is only for the Jumb O'Bagel ordered as an everything bagel half bacon, egg, and cheese with the other half Taylor ham, egg, and cheese. I am not sure what the recommended count is as to how many this monster will feed, but it has about two dozen slices to it, and I was surprised how much of the fillings it is loaded with. Yes, it is a bit of a novelty, but it actually works and works well. The bagel was baked to perfection and as someone who was enjoying it commented, the bread is not as dense as a regular sized bagel. I guess for some this might be a downside, but for our purposes it was great. Even cost wise I think it is a reasonable choice for feeding a crowd. The only ding I would give the place is I ordered it for the earliest, 10:00 AM pickup, for a Sunday and when I got there they said I was early since the pickup was for 10:30 AM. Well, no, my email confirmation says 10:00 AM. Either way, the wait turned out to be only about 15 minutes and I got to see it being cut up and boxed in the back. Thus, even with a short take home ride it was super fresh and still warm upon arrival.

Convenient that this bagel chain is so close by! Bagels are fresh and baked well. I had a classic pork roll egg and cheese on a whole wheat everything bagel. I did want to try the jalapeño cheddar, but they didn't have any when I went.

The bagel is hard as a rock . I can't even finish it . I'm in the verge of breaking a tooth ....

Bagel was bland, bathroom was closed and this is how they threw it in the bag. Not impressed.

    EVERYTHING bagel with butter

Call me a Jersey girl bagel snob cuz that's what I am (unapologetically!). I grew up with my PICK of awesome bagels in North Jersey. This means, fresh, baked on premise, crispy outside, soft inside. Period. Moving to central NJ, I hadn't found too many bagel spots that made my heart sing like my spot in North Jersey. Then I heard about O'Bagel (thanks governor Murphy for that tweet okay?!). The closest location is still a 30 minute drive for me but I definitely wanted to go and give it a shot. I was not disappointed!! Entering the location I could SMELL the fresh bagels. I could smell the crispy outside and I was excited! I ordered my go-to (bagel with butter) but this time I got an everything bagel (plain is fine too when I'm feeling like a bagel purist lol). My husband got a sausage, egg, and cheese with pepper and ketchup. I also, for good measure, ordered six to go to see how these would hold up the next day. In the car (cause PANDEMIC) we dove right in and BOY did my bagel HIT. I loved it. It was big, crispy/fluffy) and HOT. The six I purchased were still hot inside the bag too. This. Is. How. Bagels. Should. Be. Period! I felt my husband's SEC bagel was good but less crispy because of all the extras added. Like I said, I am here for the bagel so I was more than happy with mine. We did get there sort of "late" for bagel standard time. We arrived around noon and you could tell most of the specialty bagels were gone. If you want to try something different I definitely recommend going early. I really just wanted my plain and everything and that was fine with me. They had a twisted "everything" stick thing that looked good that I'll try next time...because there will definitely be a next time. I loved it! Oh yeah, the bagels I ordered for the next morning? They were still soft! I threw the paper bag into a ziplock bag and they were still quite good the next morning (I toasted them). Some places, by the next morning, the bagels would be rock solid the next day so I'm pretty impressed. I made a scallion cream cheese and smoked salmon everything bagel for the next morning and it was delicious!

Saturday morning, not too busy. Simple orders, ham, egg and cheese on a roll and grilled Swiss /tomato bagel. NO ham, and clearly not SWISS in a greasy inedible mess. This is not the first, but definitely the last time putting up with incorrect, overly priced food and uninterested employees.

    'Everything' bagel.
    Barry L.

Overall, they bagels are good, but they've been getting stingy lately. Pictured, an 'everything' bagel with almost no seeds on them. This was part of a sausage, egg, and cheese, which also had virtually no cheese in it. As others have mentioned there can be a long wait, but it's because they get a ton of orders - I usually order ahead. Have been going here for over a decade, and it's a decent local stop, but they also don't face much competition. Add more seeds/spices to the bagels please!

Almost no cream cheese for a bagel that took 20 mins to make.
    Manda D.

Worth the wait when they actually get the bagel correct. They do take a long time but work pretty quickly considering the volume of people that come in. Last time I went I ordered an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and lox. I ordered two other items (an egg bagel with butter and one of their pre-made cinnamon pastries that sit in the window) wait was still 20 mins. When I got home the bagel had next to no cream cheese on it, with an OK amount of lox. I called up and the person who answered offered me a free bagel next time I come. Doesn't exactly help me this time and I don't live in this area. The bagels are good when you finally get them but too much of a hassle when there's so many other places around here for bagels

    Barely any egg white
    Sam S.

Tried to call them to order and no one picked up. Walked in and the place was pretty busy but I realize it was busy because the people working there were not organized and were confused and were also confusing the customers. The lady took my order walked away I didn't know whether to pay or not and I wasn't the only one there was a lot of people just standing there confuse if the order was being made or not or if they need to pay now or pay later. Got my sandwich it was all right. It wasn't made amazingly they were a little stingy on the egg. Bagels themselves look great but not sure if I want to come back with the customer service the way it is

That set the tone a bit, and the staff stayed pretty flat and distant throughout. In a place serving Italian sandwiches, you'd hope for at least a little of that classic deli energy, but it felt more transactional than welcoming. On the plus side, the sandwiches were loaded with meat--generous piles of gabagool (capicola) and the other cold cuts, so you definitely get your money's worth in terms of quantity. That's the highlight. Flavor-wise, though, they fell short. Everything tasted kind of one-note and under-seasoned. The meat was good quality, but it needed salt, maybe some oregano, a splash of vinegar or oil, or just more care in the assembly to bring it to life. It wasn't bad, just forgettable--more filling than satisfying. Overall, it's a solid 3-star spot if you're purely after a big, meat-heavy sandwich and don't mind basic service. If you want personality behind the counter or a sub that actually pops with flavor, you might want to keep looking. We left somewhat satisfied but not impressed, and probably won't make a special trip back.

However, last week I looked them up and ordered through Yelp (facilitated by Grubhub, apparently). I ordered 2 of the roast beefs, 2 chopped chickens and a chicken Caesar salad and salivated during my 30 min drive to pick up. I arrived to an entirely still and locked store. No sign of anyone. I've often noticed vendors failing to update working hours, and that is frustrating. But what's worse is when I've got Yelp blaming Grubhub and Grubhub blaming everyone. I called and there was never anyone at the store though Grubhub took my money and gave me a pickup time. They agreed to refund me in several days but did absolutely nothing to compensate or remedy the situation and took no responsibility. So I will not be using Grubhub again (and that may mean ordering through Yelp if they only work through Grubhub). I hope Carved cleans up their act with times. Very frustrating when nobody takes responsibility and I don't know whether I can even trust ordering food through Yelp.

We tried the Stirling Dip, which consists of sliced roast beef, sharp provolone, and caramelized onion on a garlic baguette. It was super filling, and we had a hard time finishing it. The bread was soft and delicious. The sandwich cost $18.00. It was juicy enough that it didn't need to be dipped in the au jus. I would have given it 5 stars, but it was on the salty side. They told us that they will start serving meals in the future.

We got takeout so can't speak to the ambiance but it's a small little place. I ordered online and ordered small size for the gyro, chicken kebabs and appetizer falafel/hummus and large size hummus and tabbouleh. It came with extra pita bread, yogurt sauce, and a spicy sauce. I was ordering for 3 people for dinner and it was just barely enough food. It was $100, which I feel is insane. I meant to take pics but we were hungry and I was not able to. Also, the proportion of meat to rice is another reason I don't feel like it was worth the price. I don't mean to be disrespectful or rude, but I think there are certain cuisines one expects to be more on the budget friendly side. For $100 I expect more. Unfortunately, this visit was a huge disappointment from the moment we arrived. We were the only people there, yet the floor around our table was dirty with old Goldfish crackers and blueberries. We ordered the banana bread appetizer, an egg tortilla bowl, a western omelet, and two kids' waffles. The banana bread appetizer didn't come out until the rest of our food arrived, and everything was ice cold. The breakfast potatoes tasted old, as if they had been made the day before. While it wasn't ideal, we tried to be understanding since it was a holiday and the staff may have been overwhelmed. The highlight of the meal was the fresh-squeezed orange juice that we enjoyed with our BYOB champagne. However, no one checked on our table during the meal, and I eventually had to stop someone just to ask for the check. When reviewing the bill, I realized the kids' waffles seemed more expensive than expected. Sure enough, we had been overcharged for each one. When I politely questioned it, I was told, "That's the price in our register," and the staff gave me a hard time about correcting it. After asking again, they reluctantly handed me cash for the difference. The waitress was rude and dismissive throughout the interaction. Overall, it was such a disappointing experience, especially compared to how much we enjoyed it last year. Sadly, we'll be choosing a different spot for Mother's Day brunch next year.

Our waitress was just fine, but it was clear she lacked proper training in basic service and restaurant etiquette. Honestly I don't think she wanted to be there, was wearing sweatpants and could barely hear her when she spoke. The issues with the food began right away. I ordered a fruit cup for my son and was initially told they didn't have fruit--despite it being listed on the menu. After pointing that out, it was brought to the table, but the fruit was clearly spoiled, especially the strawberries. They had tried to cut around the rotten parts, which was honestly disgusting and concerning given this was being served to a 2-year-old. We immediately sent it back. I ordered a burger with sautéed onions, but it came out with just a few small slivers of what turned out to be pickled onions instead. The burger itself looked incredibly lackluster. I ended up sending it back and, at that point, was completely turned off from ordering anything else. I also wasn't asked if I'd like to order a replacement, there was no apology, no accountability, just a blank stare while the plate was taken away. To make matters worse, we were still charged $6 for the fries that came with the burger, which my son had started eating before I sent it back. I hadn't taken a single bite of the actual meal. My husband's "Kobe beef" sliders came with bacon that was completely inedible, so he had to remove it. My mom ordered eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon but received regular (inedible) bacon instead, and my father's meal was served cold. Overall, the quality of the food across the table was just poor. The bathrooms were also in rough condition. The women's toilet seat was loose and coming off the hinges, I nearly fell. The bill came to $146 after tip, which felt like a complete waste given the experience. Afterward, we actually drove across the street so I could grab chicken soup elsewhere because I left hungry. This was our second time giving this place a chance, and unfortunately, it will be our last.
