I live about 20 minutes from this place and I believe every town has a bagel spot within that they believe is the best. I will travel 20 minutes from what I think is the best to come here. I don't know about you, but there are not too many places in NJ that you can get pastrami and egg on a bagel at 6:30am! The Watching Warrior is my favorite, but I also recently gave their Lox n Loaded a whirl. I got to enjoy both halves equally as I shared mine with my wife. This place is amazing and has enough room to accommodate you as you standby. My review is only for the Jumb O'Bagel ordered as an everything bagel half bacon, egg, and cheese with the other half Taylor ham, egg, and cheese. I am not sure what the recommended count is as to how many this monster will feed, but it has about two dozen slices to it, and I was surprised how much of the fillings it is loaded with. Yes, it is a bit of a novelty, but it actually works and works well. The bagel was baked to perfection and as someone who was enjoying it commented, the bread is not as dense as a regular sized bagel. I guess for some this might be a downside, but for our purposes it was great. Even cost wise I think it is a reasonable choice for feeding a crowd. The only ding I would give the place is I ordered it for the earliest, 10:00 AM pickup, for a Sunday and when I got there they said I was early since the pickup was for 10:30 AM. Well, no, my email confirmation says 10:00 AM. Either way, the wait turned out to be only about 15 minutes and I got to see it being cut up and boxed in the back. Call me a Jersey girl bagel snob cuz that's what I am (unapologetically!). I grew up with my PICK of awesome bagels in North Jersey. This means, fresh, baked on premise, crispy outside, soft inside. My husband got a sausage, egg, and cheese with pepper and ketchup. I also, for good measure, ordered six to go to see how these would hold up the next day. In the car (cause PANDEMIC) we dove right in and BOY did my bagel HIT. I loved it. It was big, crispy/fluffy) and HOT. The six I purchased were still hot inside the bag too. This. Is. How. Bagels. Should. Be. Period! I felt my husband's SEC bagel was good but less crispy because of all the extras added. Like I said, I am here for the bagel so I was more than happy with mine. We did get there sort of "late" for bagel standard time. We arrived around noon and you could tell most of the specialty bagels were gone. If you want to try something different I definitely recommend going early. I really just wanted my plain and everything and that was fine with me. Please save your time!! They had 5 people working in here on a Sunday morning. 4 1/2 were working on called in orders. When it was about to be my turn a guy came to pick up his called in order. I thought it would only be fair that my daughter and i return to O'bagel again since the first time wasn't such a pleasant experience. This time we went this past Saturday morning . The line was out the door. people were ordering everything from your typical bagels and cream cheese to breakfast sandwiches eggs, ham ,cheese on bagels or bagels by the dozen. They have many different kinds of spreads and cream cheese. Tuna, Egg salad, White fish, even low fat versions. My daughter ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and Nova. I ordered a sesame bagel with scallion cream. My daughter got an ice coffee, and i got a medium coffee with cream and splenda. To our surprise the bagel and lox was done just right. The bagel was crisp and just the right amount of cream cheese , and Lox. My bagel was also crisp, it had a good amount of scallion cream cheese and both the coffee and ice coffee were very good. I'm glad we came back for a second try! I heard the french toast bagels are really good so we will be back to try them. The ladies behind the counter were friendly, and i could tell they were working hard to get all of the orders out quickly. I still believe the best bagels come from Manhattan. There were 3 people in line today and three workers behind the counter with one additional worker in the back room. All three people in line were completely ignored by the staff. It was as if there were no customers in the store at all. The staff continued chatting with each other while making everyone wait. The lady in front of me just wanted to pick up and pay for her order that she phoned ahead. Her bag was sitting on the counter in front of her as we were all being ignored for at least 10 minutes before one of the workers even greeted us. I will go elsewhere in the future. First of all, it is important to note that there are a few Obagel locations in the area. This is the best one of all. For some reason, the bagels are especially delicious here. Anyone who grew up in Long Hill has had an Obagel bagel- and this is no coincidence. These are the most scrumptious, flavorful, doughy, perfect little circles you will ever consume. I've had Brooklyn bagels, these are better than Brooklyn bagels. Additionally, their deli meats and spreads are excellent. My one point of constructive criticism is a note on their order receiving accuracy. Some of the employees are notorious for forgetting pieces of orders, like toasting the bagel or not cooking the egg as specified etc. Maybe because they usually don't write down the orders? Can be kind of a bummer when you're in a rush and don't have time to go back and wait in what is usually a long line. Im surprised to see reviews about the staff's conduct, as they have always been so friendly and welcoming in my experience. My family has been coming here for 20 years and service is continuously getting worse. Today (August 2), we came in at 3:05 to order 2 Taylor ham, egg & cheese on bagels and the lady REFUSED TO MAKE ME ANYTHING BECAUSE "THE GRILL WAS CLOSED". Mind you, this bagel shop is supposed to close at 4:00 so why on earth is their grill off an hour before closing??? We complained to the woman working at the counter and she simply refused to accommodate us at all. I don't understand why it was such a hassle for her to turn the grill on for loyal, local customers. In the end, we begged for some bagels and AGAIN, she refused to even toast them for us "because the toasted was off". We finally settled for an everything bagel twist (NON TOASTED) and a drink, and when we tried to pay with our visa, the woman gave us even more attitude, stating that she "can't charge visas under $10 but will make an exception because we complained so much". This isn't the first time that my family (and neighbors) experienced such cold service from the staff there, and refused any toasted or grilled foods at least an house before close. Unfortunately it is usually the female attendant who treats us with such disrespect; I'll also point out that she rarely rarely wears a hair net, and this lack of hygiene makes me cringe because i have found hair in your bagels in the past. I absolutely love the bagels and sandwiches from this establishment but I really advise management to consider re-staffing. You guys are losing so much business by closing the grill so early and by treating our loyal locals like this. For fifteen years, O'Bagel has been consistently incredible. Two things that the New York Metro area is famous for is pizza and bagels. I've talked a lot about pizza in my reviews because of all the pizzerias I go to, but I never discuss bagels. And the reason is that I only go to ONE bagel place in New Jersey, and generally refuse any other bagel handed my way (I say 'generally' because who can really deny a bagel?). What I'm trying to say is that O'Bagel bagels are THE. GREATEST. BAGELS. THE. WORLD. HAS. EVER. SEEN. O'Bagel bagels have been a part of my life for over fifteen years. Friends of mine who don't live in NJ or NY and have no clue what a REAL bagel is are absolutely floored when they taste a bagel from O'Bagel. O'Bagel has all the basic bagel types: plain, egg, everything, poppy seed, sesame, salt, onion, etc., etc. But they also have crazy awesome specialty ones, including a Parmesan cheese bagel, a cinnamon bun bagel, French toast bagel, etc., etc. The specialty bagels are incredible. However, my go-to is an egg bagel with cream cheese. I don't know why they call it an "egg" bagel, but it's yellow in color and tastes better than a plain bagel (even though the plain bagels here are great). A famous specialty of O'Bagel is their taylor ham, egg and cheese sandwich on a bagel. If you don't know what taylor ham is (if you're from NJ you would know), it's not ham (I hate ham), but it's also not like sausage or bacon, or really any type of breakfast meat. It's my favorite breakfast meat and also one of my favorite foods in the world, and it's found, for the most part, only in New Jersey. You can't buy it anywhere else. Anyway, O'Bagel whips up fresh eggs and taylor ham and layers them on your choice of bagel with cheese. Many request salt, pepper and ketchup too, but I personally feel as though the ketchup ruins the flavor of the whole thing. O'Bagel also offers coffees, a slew of cold beverages, deli meats for your bagel, different cream cheese spreads (all of which are homemade), tuna salad (homemade), chicken salad (homemade), and many other homemade, how-are-they-even-real options. They always layer on the toppings you choose, never a skimpy spread of cream cheese, I'll tell ya! The people who work here are amazing at what they do. The same people are working there from when I was seven years old! The place opens at 6AM, but someone once told me that the workers come in at 4AM to make the bagels. I'm not surprised! They're SO fresh, always warm (they come out of the oven all morning long). The line is usually out the door, but it moves quickly. They are always staffed and move people along. O'Bagel. I've worked in the area for a little over a year now so I have visited on occasion, about half a dozen times. I have not once been impressed by their food or their service. I have ordered just bagels with cream cheese (bagels were hard and tasted like they were at least a day old), a sandwich which wasn't bad but the roll tasted stale, and today a pork roll egg and cheese which was pitiful. The breads always seem stale, no matter what I order! Also, I went to grab a Yoo-Hoo out of the cooler which was on the bottom shelf and it was sitting in a puddle of water- gross! Not one person in there has said hello or even given a smile to any customer all of the times I've been there. Crispy on the outside - must be fresh. Came around noon on Sunday. No line but business is good. We saw people ordering dozens of bagels. By noon most if their trays are empty. The guy upfront has a short attention span so we had to repeat our order a few times. At least he asked rather than giving us the wrong items. They also serve real eggs, not the fake mix eggs that Noah bagels serve (yuck!). There are tables outside from Thai Thai so we ended up eating the since the were only 4 tables inside and it was cramped. I don't think they have restroom. read more
