I feel like the sandwiches are good here. I feel as thought I just got the butt end of a roast beef. It was well done and dry. Everything else (lettuce, tomato, onion, etc.) was fresh and crisp. All the employees were nice and welcoming. Nothing bothers me more than walking into a place and no one at Least say hello. As soon as I opened the door I was greeted nicely. Don't let the "hole in the wall" look fool you. They make the best subs I've ever had, honestly! It's clean and the workers are very friendly. The meats are high quality and the bread is great....not too thick or thin. They also serve hamburgers, chicken fingers and side dishes. It's a small place with just a few small tables and some outdoor seating. It's on a busy road so the outdoor seating isn't all that great but I mainly get take-out anyway. read more

On today 4/27/2018- our company ordered from this location. Order was called in and was told that it would be about 30 mins as we are right down the street & it was 1130 am when the order was placed... we order from this place all the time and today I was totally not cool with the events that too place with this order & I called to voice my concern about my order and about the fact that the food arrived cold after over an hour had past since the order was put in. The food arrived at almost 1 pm! When I called Sub Zone to advise them that all the food was cold and that the 3 chili cheese dogs that I ordered were sent with no cheese and sent with cheese strips on the side in a plastic container. I called place the order with Steve and Larry the manager was put on the phone and I advised him of the long delivery time and that all the food was cold and my Chili Cheese dogs that Steve raved about came with no dang blasted cheese??? Another order of a Bacon Cheeseburger was cold & a one of the cheese steaks... cold! Basically, Larry told me that when dealing with delivery that there is no way to get the food there hot "you know what I'm saying" so I replied NO! I don't know what your saying & I don't go into a food delivery with the mind set of OH yeah I feel like paying for cold food today.... nahhh not this foodie here!!! I was totally disenchanted by his response and how he handled the issue by basically saying Oh well we will try again next time... NEXT TIME??? .. wont be one! In this life, we all make mistakes and things happen, but the real test how we COME BACK FROM A MISTAKE!!! & Sub ZONE seems to not care about their customers. I get it and I just choose never to spend my hard earned coin with them again! thanks but no thanks for the cold dry food!!! read more

I just picked up a roast beef sloppy Joe from here usually they are the best around but this time the roast beef was so much fat and so much grizzle you could barely eat anything I didn't even get a half a sandwich out of everything I called there left a message with somebody when I wanted to speak to the owner and they said that the owner was not there just a warning when you see them putting the roast beef on your sandwich you may want to watch them making it. I don't always normally make a stink about something and normally subzone is very good but it was absolutely the worst roast beef I've ever seen in my life next time I go in I will speak with the one guy that is I believe the owner who happen to of been sitting there when I ordered my sandwich so I guess he went home read more

Solid sub shop with very little seating. There is outside seating as well when it gets warmer. Their prices are reasonable and they have a grill to cook up those hot sandwiches (cheesesteaks...etc...) A lot of places microwave their "hot" sandwiches. Not this place. Bread is solid as well. Sub Zone does not follow COVID guidelines. The cooks were not wearing masks and if you are checking out, they are not 6 feet away. They also do not enforce mask wearing in the establishment as a person came in with a mask under their chin and they did not ask him to wear it properly. It is a quaint local sub shop. The menu has every sub/sandwich that you can imagine. I consider myself a connoisseur of subs and I can honestly say that this was the best sub I've had in NJ. Amazing Sloppy Joe's! Its a thick, triple decker with perfect proportions of meat, cole slaw, and russian dressing! Fresh rye bread too. They give generous portions for a good price. Let me tell you my favorite though. The Jersey Freakin' Jammer. That sandwich is legit. It is a delicious sandwich consisting of a fried or scrambled egg, taylor ham cooked to perfection, gooey delicious cheese, and home fries with ketchup atop an expertly toasted bun. I am unashamed to admit that there was at least two weeks of summer where my diet consisted of Jersey Jammer sandwiches and liters of Diet Pepsi. Local place in Berkeley Heights with outstanding sandwiches. Today we ordered the Berkeley Special which is basically everything but the lichen sinklp. Huge, definitely splittable and great for parties. Two kids wanted special orders and they deal with it very nicely. One was chicken (grilled while you are there) bacon and lettuce on white bread and the other just ham and cheese. The ingredients Re all locally grown and the staff are super.
