I have been going to O-bok's for years ever since the 90s and I remember the fun gold wallpaper, the dividers for large groups, the many different banchan, and those humped cushion seats. It has changed hands over the years and now they have a few new menu items. The spicy cold noodle is my favorite. My kids enjoy their bbq chicken and the japchae. My family always gets the meat jun and they enjoy it. Service is slower than most places, but you get used to taking your time, enjoying company, and not rushing through dinner. The guy that serves us is polite and brings out dishes. Sometimes he has a hard time hearing but he lets you know. Just have to speak up, on his good side. Parking is plentiful in Manoa market place which shares the lot with many other businesses. read more

Food is good! I've never been here in person but always order to-go! I love the Chicken ginseng, esp when I'm sick! The flavor is so good! Honestly prices have gone up everywhere so I feel like they are still reasonably priced! Especially for the delicious taste. I'd rather pay more for great food than pay less for less quality food. Lunch in Manoa, Honolulu, Hawaii... I saw a friend check in on her Yelp app here in Manoa Marketplace. I didn't know where O-Bok Korean Restaurant was, so I asked a different friend... LOL! She said her family went there often - in the past - when there was a different owner. I had no idea. O-Bok was between the US Post Office and Lady Elaine. We easily found a parking space in the shared, free lot. Inside, this restaurant has an old school vibe with some of the vinyl benches' rips taped up. Our server had us sit at one of the booths with a taped up bench... Haha! That's ok... I ordered the cold noodles. I liked the chewy texture. I should have used the scissors that were provided, but nah... I added some vinegar to the broth for a change up. It was refreshing and light. The half of a hard boiled egg was alright. This was a casual, reliable, straightforward place for local style Korean food. We appreciated the four included banchan: broccoli, kimchi, japchae (delicious), and bean sprouts! I tried O-Bok again...getting the Bulgogi Plate for takeaway. Eatery was empty and my request was given in 8 minutes. Bulogogi was well seasoned. A Korean food staple in Manoa Marketplace, O-Bok has been around for a good stretch of time. It is now located by Lady Elaine and across/behind the elevators to the 2nd floor of the marketplace. While it is a bit tucked into the marketplace, it is worth looking for! There is seating inside with booths and a counter towards the back of the restaurant. The lights are low and the restaurant feels like a more old school Korean spot. The menu is not overbearing and offers solid options such as juns, specials, soups, barbecue, and more. There is also some seating outside around the marketplace, should you want to take your food and eat outside. We usually get the meat jun, bibimbap, and combo set b. The service is always efficient and usually they are pretty nice. The prices are not bad for the portions, which are pretty big. They usually last us a couple of meals. Especially the combo. However, the bibimbap portion is a bit small. Otherwise, we enjoy coming to O-Bok and will be back! read more

We've been to O-Bok to dine in pre-pandemic and for takeout a couple of times since. However, we don't come here enough, so it took a minute to realize that even though the physical space looks the same (perhaps the wallpaper was updated?) and new menus were made and put up, the people working are different. I presume ownership has changed hands, which also means ingredients, taste, portion, and prices have changed. O-Bok has always been somewhat pricier than other local Korean eateries, in my opinion. The prices on the menu didn't seem to have changed much, but the portions seem are a bit smaller--only one scoop of rice for each plate, and the tonkatsu plate doesn't come with rice (but the soondubu does). Not a deal breaker for me but the hubs was surprised. The banchans portions were also smaller. However, the man owner who waited on us (while wife cooked) asked if we wanted more rice and/or banchans. For two adults and a growing teenage boy, we ordered a combo plate, bulgogi plate, tonkatsu plate, seafood pancake, and soondubu. The plan was to take home what's lefto for my lunch but we finished everything! The husband kept commenting on how small his combo was, but his spicy pork and fish jun looked freshly made. My bulgogi plate came with a lot of meat, tasty but kind of dry. There were two pieces of thin crispy tonkatsu smothered in a mushroom (I think) gravy. The seafood pancake was the standard size but slightly thicker but still crispy and yummy. The soondubu was milder than expected. Total bill came to just under $100 before tax and gratuity. Food came out quick though, given there's only one cook! There were a few takeout orders and some more people came to dine in after us. read more

This a quaint little spot that's been here in Mānoa Shopping Center for a long time (I first tried it in 2009). It's a bit small with about 9 booths. Banchan serving for two people seems a bit small but I'd probably like it more if they replaced the broccoli with something else. Some go-to items are the big bone kalbi, regular kalbi, spicy pork, meat jun, and fish jun. The mandoo is also really good. While I haven't had the kalbi since 2010, everything else seems to have stayed consistent over the years. I tried out the japchae for the first time last week and would not recommend it; I prefer mine more wet/fresh and this one was sticky and seemed lacking in flavor. Also found a mushy clump of sticky rice at the bottom of the rice bowl. I'm okay with the service here and would recommend giving it a try, especially if you like spicy pork, fish jun, and mandoo. read more

3.5 stars! I ordered the dolsot bibimbap and it was really tasty - the meat and mushrooms were so flavorful and juicy, and the gochujang sauce was really good, too. However, the rice didn't crisp up, unfortunately! That's my favorite part about dolsot bibimbap so I was a little disappointed I liked their kimchi - it was good spice level for me (I don't have a high spice tolerance though) and it had a very slight sweetness to it that added to the flavor profile. Came here to pick up some food this past weekend. The korean guy in the front, he is always friendly to me whether we dine in or get take out. I have seen him grumpy once, which is kinda funny lol. The food, I ordered spicy squid. Being that I ordered take out this time, they separated all the rice and the squid into 2 different cotainers. I have never seen any other place do this because of cost, but for me, this is the extra care they put into their food. Their meat jun is also delicious which I also ordered. Price - 2 stars... price to portion size does not match Portions 2 stars... my soup was $18 plus tax and I got an appetizer size bowl of soup... my husband order the combo A and it came on a big plate. What looked like a piece and a half of cut up bbq chicken, a very thin piece of Kalbi & ther smallest scoop of rice I've ever seen. This plate was $20!! Oh and it came with 2 frozen mandoo Customer service 2.5 stars... the host seems like an introvert and not that friendly... we asked for an extra bowl of rice because our daughter was sharing with us & it seemed to be a bother. Another party of 2 came in and the host was pretty rude to them because they made their own water. They didn't know, the water was left out in front of the main counter by the booths with no signage. And just pretty over all cold... Ambiance 3 stars... this didn't bother me. Usually the older looking places have better tasting food and here definitely doesn't disappoint in the taste category. Maybe my favorite place in Manoa marketplace! O-bok is a cozy spot with decent prices and really good food. They're not always super busy but there are usually a few people inside, and the employees are good at being attentive to dine in customers as well as keeping up with takeout. My order is always the meat jun plate with a side of gim or nori, and they actually make their nori from scratch! While we occasionally dine in, we usually get takeout. My new go-to order is: - Tile Fish - need to crisp it up more so can just grind the little bones, but otherwise it's still tasty and nicely salted. - Soon Dubu for the hubs - he said good. - Kalbi Tang for me - 1.5 meals for me. The meat on bone is good, meat not on bone is a little drier. But soup is super tasty. - Seafood Pancake - choke green onions and could use more seafood, but cooked perfectly and the sauce is tasty. The owner was very nice and accommodating. I wanted a combination plate but do not eat fish. He kindly swapped it for bbq chicken with the spicy pork for a slight charge. It was as good as I remember! I moved out of state, and missed the spicy pork! Yum! We stumbled here on a whim. Was craving Korean food and just so happened to see what's in Manoa. We ordered spicy pork, meat jun, mandoo, and Kim Chee pancake. Good came out fast and was delish. The mandoo is homemade and packed full of goodies. Meat was soft and flavorful. The meat jun sauce was soooo good, too. Lived in Manoa for over 45 years, tried O-BoK once and never went back. We decided to give it another try today in 2025 and am glad we did. It's currently owned by Dean and his wife, which are the 5th owners. Kalani grad, nice to help Locals. Back to the food, it rocks! Side dishes are simple but tasty, the Kim Chee is not the typical watered down ones you find at most Korean restaurants, but hot and tasty! Ordered the combination A and B, and boy, the chicken and Kal Bi was very, very tasty. And very generous portions along with extremely reasonable prices. Three of us stopped by on a Thursday afternoon on 12/15/22, around 2:30p to have a late lunch. Unfortunately, we weren't able to sit inside the restaurant since the host didn't have enough workers to man the tables. It was take-out only, for us on this day. Nonetheless, my order of the Combination plate C composed of Spicy Pork, Fish Jun, Man Doo, and Rice Noodles, and Kim Chee, Broccoli, and Potatoes were extremely tasty. The Spicy Pork was infused with the perfect blend of sweet, salty, flavoring with the right amount of spiciness. We sat outside, and enjoyed our Korean fare. My friend ordered Combination Plate B and had the BBQ chicken, Man Doo, and Meat Jun and she enjoyed her plate as well. My other friend had the Kim Chee Rice plate with an over easy egg and she said it was flavorful and the Kim Chee wasn't so spicy for her. All in all, we enjoyed our meals. I always come to Mānoa marketplace regularly and always pass by this Korean restaurant during my time here. I've always wondered what's good here, but never tried until now. On a recent August 2023 Friday during lunch, I had the opportunity to come here because I had the day off and a friend of mine working nearby. Both of us had never tried this restaurant before so we decided to check things out. We arrived here around 1 PM, and we probably did beat the lunch rush for sure. There was maybe two tables that was occupied, and the rest of the restaurant wasn't. We got seated almost immediately and that was pretty awesome. It seems like this restaurant is practically a mom and pop store and it felt like eating a friend's house - at least the quality of the cooking seems to be this way. We spent about an hour here from start to finish. It is amazing to see that there are two different Korean restaurants in Mānoa marketplace, the other being Peppa's Korean BBQ near the Starbucks. It's pretty cool that they can coexist in the same area. The restaurant felt small but the ambiance was nice and quiet for the most part. Not sure if they had WiFi but we didn't need it during our stay. My friend noticed that they had QR codes for the menu and no physical menus. Quite cutting edge for a mom and pop. Or just a way to save money on not having to update menus every so often. With that said, I celebrated my friend's belated birthday here at O-Bok Korean restaurant. The price is here we're not terrible, but not great either. It's basically the same price you pay when you go to a Korean barbecue restaurant but when you dining is not in a takeout container. I ended up getting the bi bim kook soo, which was quite light, definitely delicious, and surprisingly as healthy as you can get, without the fried meats that comes with traditional Korean meat that's been barbecued for your enjoyment. The overall experience here at O-Bok Korean restaurant was very different vibe than any other Korean restaurant that I've been to, mainly because it was in a quiet area - manoa - and it was after the lunch rush, I guess. For the most part though, the experience was quite nice and the company was excellent. The restaurant was clean and quite spacious especially when it's run by a mom and pop. Or at least it seems that way. My friend and I pretty much beat the lunch rush at 1:00pm that day and it was lovely. Lovely company at a lovely restaurant in Manoa. What more can I say. Kind of reminds me of going to someone's home and having a home cooked meal without the frenzied hoopla of an everyday crunch of a work week, since I had the day off that holiday. Statehood day is always chill and happy that they are open for business. At the end of the meal, we got the check but waited around for the lady to pick up it up with our payment. After 10 minutes, we decided that we needed to take it up to the counter to get it paid. Some restaurants are like that. Either they come and swoop or you need to go to the cashier and pay. It's sometimes difficult to see this. It's fine though. My friend and I left the restaurant feeling full and happy that we tried out this place. I'm a regular at Manoa marketplace so I'll probably be back sooner or later to try to find other delicious dishes. O-Bok Korean restaurant is located near the Manoa Post Office in Manoa marketplace shopping center. Its physical address is Woodlawn Drive. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. As far as parking goes, you got a lot of spacious parking in and around the mall. Best bet would be to park near the restaurant for the best spot for easy access in and out. If you are like me, i believe that the only route that services Manoa valley is route 6, which stops both sides of E Manoa Road next to the Manoa Starbucks. With that said, if you love Korean cuisine and enjoy the traditional food and even Korean barbecue that's basically local kine comfort food in these Hawaiian islands, consider coming to O-Bok Korean restaurant in the heart of Manoa valley. You may be pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem and what deliciousness await you. Definitely a place where you can unwind after a day at the office and a place where you can chill with friends and family over a nice meal in Manoa. Recommended for all and the ambiance is quiet and nice, depending on the time of day you come. Very limited, small banchan and smaller portions for my husband & myself compared to other bigger restaurants which is one of the main reasons I wouldn't go here regularly. Situated in Manoa, sure thing this Korean restaurant is one of the best place to-go to. Came here to try some Asian kines within the area. My wife and I was greeted by this kind Asian lady whom who guide us to settled in. She immediately gave us their menu and I was salivating on the photo they put in. I can say customer service is pretty good. We ordered Combo Set A: kalbi/bulgogi, chicken & mandoo combo & hot guksu. It was all tasty and flavorful. I was satisfied. My wife is satisfied above all.
