Lunch! Friday August 4, 2023

Monday June 9, 2025 I have passed by here many times before. I bought from here in the past. But, I didn't post anything as I was hungry and I ate it right away before. This time, I took pictures. Lol. Service is friendly and fast. Food was good. Ambiance is casual. It's in a long hallway from South King Street to Merchant Street. I parked in the loading zone with the company car. Otherwise, you would have to park in the parking structure. It's Pioneer Plaza.

Seoul Kimbap truly is elite. I have been going to them since they first opened at their starting location in Remington College. I love how many options they still have and how delicious their food is. I have since branched out from kimbap only and have now tried their spicy pork and soondubu sweets. DELISH! It is the right amount of spice and plenty of food. This family is so wonderful. I saw someone that came by on her last day of work because she was moving to the mainland and wanted to say "thank you for feeding her." They gave her and her friend (that bought her lunch) sodas on the house. Love the relationships that they build and how nice they truly are. If you haven't already, go and grab yourself lunch from Seoul Kimbap! Jal meokgesseumnida!

If you work near Pioneer Plaza in downtown, 900 Fort Street Mall, Seoul Kimbap is one of the lunch places you can try if you enjoy Korean Maki sushi. Their menu is mainly Kimbap with special menu for the day. You can choose from different flavor of Kimbap. I chose fried tofu and beef flavor. I was pleasantly surprised that each Kimbap comes with fish cake soup. The staff are very nice and polite as other Yelpers mentioned. They even pack your food nicely with napkins and utensil without having to ask for one. What a nice service! Both of the Kimbap were good and fresh. I also enjoyed the free fish cake soup. I will be back to try some of their daily special.

Love stopping here to grab lunch. Located in Pioneer Plaza this little shop has great lunch sets that include a protein, rice, vegetable sides like takuan and mushrooms, and a side soup. My fave combo is the spicy pork with kimchi stew, but the bulgogi with sundubu is also really good. You can't go wrong here - everything I've had is excellent. The two ladies are very friendly and are always look like they are working very hard.

Their soondubu soup is amazing! They offer a very affordable lunch set, making it one of the best Korean spots for plate lunches in town. The owner is incredibly kind and packs the food neatly. We waited until they opened, and people immediately started lining up :)

Came here for the first time last week and one of the best affordable places in downtown! I will recommend getting to Seoul Kimbap early because they sell out quickly! It's a family owned bussiness and they are so nice!

Home cooked Korean food served with a smile! They sell out of many things so come early. Reasonable prices for fresh food made with love. The spicy pork and bulgolgi were both perfectly cooked and seasoned. The Tuna kimbap was a sleeper hit too! Everything came with little soups which were tasty and refreshing.

The food is great but that i keep coming back for lunch because of the owners. They are the cutest couple who really care about serving great food and service to their customers. Now for the food: Mondays, Wednesday, and Friday's their specials are soondubu and bi bim bap. Either entree you have the choice of bulgogi or spicy pork. Tuesdays and Thursday they have kimbap and and fish cake soup. They also neatly pack your food for you and remind you that the soup is hot. They also offer you hand sanitizer before you leave. The food is great, but the service is definitely by far the reason I keep coming back.

An unassuming store front with paper signs taped to the door leads way to a kitchen of wonderful home cooked Korean food! This little shop has just 2 employees and is only open during the lunch hours of a working week in downtown but they are probably thriving off their delicious soups and kimbap. They alternate between soondubu (M-W-F) and kimbap (Tu-Th) so make sure you know what day it is before you arrive. Their soondubu is red hot and spicy, and comes with the bulgogi lunch plates. It's the perfect combo and soothes the soul. On kimbap days, the hefty rolls are piled high on the counter for you to grab and go - but don't forget the free soup that comes with! I've never seen such perfectly balanced, well crafted kimbap before. The bulgogi is marinated just enough, and the spicy pork isn't too spicy. Support local businesses and eat great Korean food at the same time!

Where can I park to pick up food?

Are the hours on yelp correct? I passed by around 1 p.m. today and the windows were closed. Thanks!

Hello! The hours on Yelp are correct, but we do close earlier when we sell out. Hopefully we can catch you next time! :)

Do you have a phone number?

What days do you have kimbab?

Hello! We have Kimbap only on Tuesdays and Thursdays as of right now. After the pandemic is over, we will be back to having Kimbap everyday! Thank you so much :)

I want to support your shop during this pandemic - do you have gift certificates I can buy?

Hi Trisha, my mom told me that you came by. Thank you for visiting the restaurant today! Unfortunately, we do not have any gift certificates :( We truly appreciate your thought and are very thankful. Wash your hands and stay safe!!

If I arrive at 1:00pm right after I get in from a flight, will they be sold out of the bulgogi Kimbap on A Wednesday?

Sorry for getting back to you late! Usually at 1pm, most of all kimbaps are sold out.. Happy thanksgiving!!

We got the seafood pajeon, cold noodles in beef broth, meat jun, galbi-jjim, steamed egg pot, and bibimbap. No actual grilling was done but we weren't exactly here for that. We came here to try meat jun and ended up getting a little bit of everything else. Let me tell you something... the galbi-jjim here alone is enough to pay them a visit. If you don't know what galbi-jjim is, let me explain it real quick. Galbi-jjim is a popular Korean dish of tender, braised short ribs, typically beef or pork, cooked in a savory-sweet soy sauce-based liquid with garlic, ginger, and often fruits like pear or apple for sweetness and tenderizing. It was perfectly savory and saucy, fall-off-the-bone tender, and I want to scream just thinking about it. The first bite alone had me sitting back in my seat. Had I been wearing a hat, I would have taken it off and held it over my heart. It was that good. And since it was my birthday, they brought over a complimentary seaweed soup and a tower of Choco Pies. They even sang Happy Birthday to me and made me blush. Solid eats and excellent service. The parking situation seems nerve racking but they have an attendant at both sides of the restaurant that helps stop traffic to help get you out of there which I found pretty cool!

I really enjoy the Korean comfort foods! 4 stars for the food, soups, and ban chan, 5 stars if the service was great. Typical service you will get at a Korean spot but no complaints. Just gotta be patient for ban chan refills or if you need anything else, I don't expect much just happy that I get to have my Korean food. During this recent Saturday visit, I decided to go here for our late lunch, after hiking Koko Head Trail & Makapuu. It was about 4:30 pm, we were the only ones there, but it filled up pretty quick an and they do have many take out and Uber/Door Dash orders. My favorites here are the combo set, choice of soondubu (combination, kim chee, spam, beef, sausage, clam,) & either meat jun, fried mandoo, bulgogi, yellow corvina, seafood jun, or BBQ chicken. The combo use to be $20.55 my first time but now went up to $23.55, hence the increase, it is still a great deal, this meal comes with rice and 5 different ban chan. This combo was more than enough for the both of us. My favorite is the spam soondubu ( yes. who picks Spam right?! hehe) & the seafood Jun. Although it so hard to decide since all the choices are good, I will have to visit again for the other selection. The other half and I cannot eat an entire combo set by ourselves. I love the ban chan, especially the daikon & kim chee, so fresh and crispy! When I first dined here, I was surprise to see they give you a fresh egg to crack in your soondubu soup, I am use to the egg already in there. We always have leftover soondu soup which I take home and add to my Korean ramen the next day, so good! Support this local mom & pop restaurant, So Gong Dong has been around for the longest time just only recently I've discovered it. I will be back for the next Korean soondubu, ban chan fix!

For the meats, the beef brisket and beef toro were the stars, but the beef chuck was slightly tough and dry. They were also out of bulgogi, which was disappointing. The pork had a really strong boar taint smell/taste, which completely turned me off from ordering any of the pork. We had to ask for more meat and banchan refills multiple times. There was usually a pretty noticeable lag before anything came out, which was frustrating for an AYCE spot. They also seemed to be selective about which banchans they would refill. They would bring more of the dishes like kimchi and cucumber, but when we asked for more tuna mac, they wouldn't give us any. It also looked like there were only two people working while there were probably around 10 tables during the Tuesday lunch rush, so I do think they were understaffed. If you're offering AYCE, the refills and service should flow a lot more smoothly. It felt like they were paying more attention the tables that selected a higher tier of AYCE.
