This was my second visit to this small shop in Pioneer Plaza. On my first visit, I picked up a Bulgogi Kimbap; this time I tried the Bulgogi Bibimbap (12.95 + tax). It's a relatively small bowl, but chock full of tasty bulgogi, raw spinach leaves, fried zucchini, julienned egg, mushrooms, and diced, seasoned daikon over rice. It comes with a bowl of broth with two pieces of fishcake. The broth is nice and rich, surprisingly so. I really enjoyed the somewhat unconventional looking bibimbap. It comes with a small container of gochujang sauce, mandatory IMO to boost the flavor profile. At first, I thought "Is this pineapple?" No, it's cubes of pickled radish. The dish lacked julienned carrots, bean sprouts, a fried egg, and sesame seeds but I didn't miss them. Bottom line: I liked this dish and would buy it again. That's a recommendation in my book. I was really craving Kimbap and ended up finding this spot on Yelp. Love at first bite. Came here around 11:30 on a Wednesday and waited in a decent line. They have their items that you can purchase on the countee and you grab the items you like and keep moving forward until you get to the register. I was so sad that only an hour after opening, they were out of spicy pork kimbap so I opted for the spicy pork bibimbap and then tuna kimbap. The Spicy pork was well seasoned, flavorful and cooked to perfection! It came with a delicious spicy tofu soup! The tuna kimbap was the best I've ever had! The creamy tuna filling to vegetable ratio was immaculate and each bite was well balanced. My first review of 2025! : ). I've been coming to Seoul Kimbap since pre-Covid when they were located at Remington College. When they had to move to a new location because the Remington College Building was sold, I was happy to find out that Seoul Kimbap found a new home next to my "former favorite" lunch counter (The Lunch Spot) at Pioneer Plaza. The "new" location is a brightly lit, freshly painted (white) take-out counter with a small kitchenette in the back of the stall. Plates (bowls) and packs of Kimbap are neatly arranged on the counter so that busy downtown workers can grab-and-go quickly. My go-to plate (bowl) is the bulgogi bibimbap which comes with greens, ribbons of scrambled eggs, pickled daikon, shiitake mushrooms, bulgogi (thinly sliced marinated beef) over white rice. I add the entire sauce container of gochujang dressing on top and mix everything together. So yummy! The owner works so hard on a back counter to make the bowls that are always consistently delicious and lovingly assembled. She always smiles and waves when she sees me! : ). The young girl at the register (I assume she's the owner's daughter) is so friendly and polite. First impressions are important in the food business, and she nails it with her friendly smile and welcoming personality. There is another woman and a man (owner's husband?) that help pack the Kimbap and bibimbap bowls and bring them to the counter. There is usually a line of customers in front of this lunch counter but don't let that deter you as the line moves quickly. When you see lines of customers in downtown it usually means that it's for a good product at a reasonable price. If you work in downtown or meet friends for lunch in town, I recommend that you check out Seoul Kimbap. Pioneer Plaza (where they are located) has lots of tables and chairs (two covered open-air levels) where you can eat your lunch and talk-story. Seoul Kimbap may look like the usual kimbap shop on the outside, but hidden inside is one of the best kimchi stews on the island. Pictures of their kimchi stew and soondubu immediately caught my eye because of the concentrated red color that is a hallmark of a good soup. The first time I went, it was kimchi stew day. I had to give it a try, which made for a perfect meal paired with a tuna kimbap. Their kimchi stew is more concentrated than most, with a sour flavor from the fermented kimchi. The tuna kimbap was also perfectly seasoned and flavorful. On another day I tried the soondubu, which is probably my second favorite, but still delicious. In addition to the kimbap, they sell bentos and bowls with proteins like spicy pork and bulgogi. Tip: come early for the best kimbap selection because they sell out early. Soondubu is on Mon, Wed, Fri and kimchi stew is on Tues and Thurs. The people who run this shop are the sweetest and provide great service. Seoul Kimbap truly is elite. I have been going to them since they first opened at their starting location in Remington College. I love how many options they still have and how delicious their food is. I have since branched out from kimbap only and have now tried their spicy pork and soondubu sweets. DELISH! It is the right amount of spice and plenty of food. This family is so wonderful. I saw someone that came by on her last day of work because she was moving to the mainland and wanted to say "thank you for feeding her." I work in the same building as Seoul Kimbap. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, and comforting. I crave the Soondubu at least once a week and it never disappoints. What truly sets this place apart is Keumhee, the owner. She is always welcoming and kind, and you can tell she genuinely cares about both the food and the people she serves. If you work near Pioneer Plaza in downtown, 900 Fort Street Mall, Seoul Kimbap is one of the lunch places you can try if you enjoy Korean Maki sushi. Their menu is mainly Kimbap with special menu for the day. You can choose from different flavor of Kimbap. I chose fried tofu and beef flavor. I was pleasantly surprised that each Kimbap comes with fish cake soup. The staff are very nice and polite as other Yelpers mentioned. They even pack your food nicely with napkins and utensil without having to ask for one. What a nice service! Both of the Kimbap were good and fresh. I also enjoyed the free fish cake soup. Today, I finally visited in its Pioneer Plaza location, looking for some yummy Kimbap, as this place has great reviews. I was also interested in the Soondubu, but, alas, it was not Soondubu day. I picked up the bulgogi kimbap, which comes with the fish cake soup. The kimbap is sooooo tasty. Way better than 88 Mart or H mart (or are those not fair comparisons?). The meat was so flavorful and tender. The fish cake soup was so good too! It smelled so good and tasted even better. I can't wait to come back and try the Soondubu. I bet it's amazing. I also want to try the spicy pork. I only wish it was closer to my office -- it's quite a hike in this hot September weather. Absolutely recommend! Drivers, be aware! I read great reviews so I drove from Hawaii Kai to try their kimbap and few other dishes. I parked at pioneer, then walked few blocks to get there and they were closed. It was past 11am and yelp says they're open from 1030am and they're actually open but it was closed. There was no sign that they're on break or if they're going to open at all today. An unassuming store front with paper signs taped to the door leads way to a kitchen of wonderful home cooked Korean food! This little shop has just 2 employees and is only open during the lunch hours of a working week in downtown but they are probably thriving off their delicious soups and kimbap. They alternate between soondubu (M-W-F) and kimbap (Tu-Th) so make sure you know what day it is before you arrive. Their soondubu is red hot and spicy, and comes with the bulgogi lunch plates. It's the perfect combo and soothes the soul. On kimbap days, the hefty rolls are piled high on the counter for you to grab and go - but don't forget the free soup that comes with! Roaming around Downtown figuring out where to eat can be difficult for the indecisive. Thankfully I had an urge for Asian food! Seoul Kimbap is located along Bishop St, in the lower level of the Remington College Building. You'll need to walk down a flight of stairs to see this little restaurant. It's near Dim Sun House and right below MME Saigon. This place serves just a few Korean delicacies: kimbap (only Tuesday and Thursdays), Bibimbap, Soondubu (Monday and Wednesdays only), Meat Jun, and Kim Chee Fried Rice. The Bibimbap selection is only Bulgogi or Spicy Pork. You'll see them packed and ready to go on the counter. I grabbed the last Bulgogi Bibimbap, and when it was my turn, the lady behind the counter asked if it was okay for her to open the lid. I first thought it was to secure it better, but nope, she popped open the lid to put in more Bulgogi!! Yes, I'm the happiest when people give me more food. :) She really piled it in. The Bibimbap comes with Fish Cake Soup, or for $2.50 more, you can get a Soondubu with it. The Bibimbap was very good!!! The Bulgogi was warm, flavorful, soft, tender, and well seasoned. It wasn't salty or too strong tasting. It was just right. The accompanying toppings were all well prepared and delicious, and I can taste each ingredient. My favorite was the sliced shiitake mushrooms. Had great umami, and earthy mushroom flavor with a hint of natural sweetness. Zucchini was very good. Well seasoned and not too soft. This also had Spring Mix veggies, thin slices of egg, thin strips of carrot, and cubes of danmuji (yellow, pickled radish). Everything worked well together adding different textures and flavors. The Gochujang sauce was very nice. It added a little bit of spice and slight tang. The fish cake soup was really good. The taste felt homey and warming. The broth is very similar to Japanese oden, but less sweet and with a more cleaner taste. Overall, I couldn't ask for anything more since I already got more. The ingredients were all very fresh and very well prepared and seasoned. The tastes and flavors from each ingredient were noticeable and added its uniqueness to the Bibimbap. So we returned to working at the office the other month and finally decided to venture into town for some lunch. Sadly so many of my regular places have closed. Really sad. But the silver lining is that it gave the green light to venture off and find new future regular spots. This one is a gem. The store is very simple and clean. A few of the special plates are ready on the counter but the owner said they can make whatever we want in the menu. I got the standard Bi Bim Bap and my son got the spicy pork. Both were really good, no left overs. Price was reasonable. I think we were about $25 for both. And they come with soup. The best part is that it is obviously a family restaurant. Son does the cashier and mom and dad get the orders. Mom is super sweet. Makes me want to come back just to see how grateful she is you came by. There are tables outside and you're just below the street level so no loud traffic noise. Someone was there cleaning as people left so tables looked clean. I absolutely love the owners at Seoul Kimbap. They are the kindest and MOST generous individuals ever. I studied abroad in South Korea for a semester, and their kimbaps really hit home for me -- the food is authentic, made with quality ingredients, and definitely made with love. I find myself coming here every week, and when I do come into the office, I find myself visiting them a few times a week. It's getting windier and chillier so of course I've been looking for food that helps keep me warm; Seoul Kimbap is a great option if you're working downtown. Located at the bottom floor of Remington College Building, it's easy to miss if you aren't looking. However, the bottom floor has clean, shaded outdoor seating if you're hoping to eat your lunch outside, which is a nice plus. The store itself is very clean and inviting, and was manned by a very friendly and charming duo. I ordered their Bulgogi Bibimbap and got myself a free soup with my order. Everything was fresh and vibrant, and looked so appetizing! It really translated into a lot of good complimentary flavors and textures in my bibimbap. It also wasn't too oily and had a good amount of meat. The free kimchi soup was also really hearty and had just enough spice to wake me up for the rest of the workday, though not gonna lie, I wanted to nap after having a satisfying meal. After reading the other reviews I realized 1) I did receive the complimentary fish cake soup (is it because I ordered a soup already?) and 2) nor did I get water since I ate there. I will say that my small order of bulgogi kim bap and soon du bu soup was tasty. The service was friendly. And the the cleanliness of the place is impressive. However my 3 star rating is due to the fact that I did not receive the same complimentary items. Consistency is important.
