We had them come out at the beginning of July for a service call as our air wasn't working to temp. The tech told us the air conditioning isn't meant to cool the house to the set temperature???? This is our third summer in this house. And we had no previous problems with heat or air. The tech also told us that is was okay to use furnace filters that are too big for it??? Needless to say our house is sitting at 81 degrees. The thermostat is set at 60. So now we'll have to wait and get someone else here and pay for another service call. Furnace not working. , Owner came and said it needs an 'inducer'., which was 'hard to find'. did not hear from him for 5 days. we called, and asked what was goin on. they said he is in Vegas. Another tech came and got it running. it quit again. Called On Sunday morning because we we cold. Owner said ' it was a nice day and he had his windows open and was trying to enjoy his family, and would try to get back to us next week'. Another tech called and said it prob needs a mother board' or a new furnace. Next day said 'it was back ordered and he would let us know price of a new furnace. The furnace is only 5 years old.the next morning, office called, saying the could install new furnace same day. We explained we weren given a price. She had owner call us, he said he could fit us in today, quoted a price, and asked if we wanted to have it today. Said we needed a day to think about options, and told them to put us on schedule for next week. Then end of the week, we were told that the owner rescheduled our appointment because someone else needed it more. read more

This review is not based on a service but on the professionalism of the office in general. I called to see if they service my furnace using for a warranty related issue. The lady I spoke with advised they aren't authorized for my particular furnace but she looked up everything for me to find a company that could assist me. They definitely went above and beyond to help me even though they couldn't service my furnace. Hard to find any company willing to assist you when making lots of money off of you and extremely rare to find one that would assist when not many any. Had one of the O'Donnells come out and give me a quote. He said he would call me back in a day or two to schedule the work. Never called. When I called the office, their receptionist very was rude. Still no call back. Called again, the receptionist was rude again. Still no call back. When I hired a different company to do the work, they told me the information O'Donnell gave me was completely incorrect, and they were trying sell me a lot of expensive stuff I didn't need. My furnace would not turn on a week ago so after reading reviews I called O'Donnell Heating. Made an appointment and their service tech showed up on time. He checked everything over and advised me that my furnace was okay. The problem was with my wi-fi thermostat. It wasn't sending the proper voltage to allow the furnace to work. He asked if he could try a few things with it, since it would cause it to lose my wireless network connection. I said go ahead and he worked on it but I would need a new thermostat. i said I would purchase another and install it (which I did and it's been working fine). There wasn't any pressure from Tim to purchase anything from his company and he has made me a O'Donnell customer for life. When I need a repair or new furnace (mine is 20 years old) I'll be calling O'Donnell Heating. Thank you Tim! read more

I have always had a positive experience with O'Donnell. Most recently furnace went was acting up with 0 degrees on the way. They were backed up two dozen calls but still got us in the next day. Hey folks, you are in WNY, you should be able to survive at least a couple days with no heat. But anyway, first service was under warranty. They did have to return again two days later, but that was because of spiders, not their service. Always accommodating and fair. read more

His presentation was relaxed, informative and concise. 0% financing made it affordable. Dawn, the Office Manager, is always gracious when I call. She was so kind and efficient when it came to submitting forms for rebates in a timely manner. To my delight, Tim and Nick, the installers, chatted happily and laughed throughout their efficient installation of the new furnace. Barely looked at my older boiler and said parts were not available and not worth repairing. He recommended a $4000 new one. They sent a salesman instead of a repairman when I was at my neediest. I emphasized that I could not afford that at this time and asked if he could please repair. He said I could finance a new one. He practically ran out the house when he could not sell me a new unit saying he would look in warehouse and definitely get back to me that day. Very disappointed. My furnace broke a few days ago while it was snowing and chilly temperatures. We usually have a family friend come help us out but he was out of town and due to the cold temp, we were worried about the pipes breaking. They were able to come the day we called, which is why I gave them two stars. But the man came into our house, took the door off the furnace, read that it was 21 years old and told me we need a new furnace for $3,500. The bill was completely illegible, so who knows what they said was actually wrong with it, and we were charged $85. I find that absolutely ridiculous. They did not do a damn thing. We already knew it was old. Our family friend came two days later, cleaned it, changed a piece and it has been working perfect ever since! I will never recommend them to any of my family or friends. I absolutely will not use them again. Such a waste of 85 dollars and totally disappointed with O'Donnell! read more

I found the place I trust. I know when I call for service they come out ASAP. Had a service call on Saturday morning, my 20+ year air conditioner will cool no more. The owner came out a hour later and gave us a quote for a new unit. He gave us options and the info to make up our mind. The install team with Tim came out today, 3 1/2 hours later it's done. Basement was cleaner than I left it. Outside unit in, no mess left around. Tim went over a few points and I signed and I got a cooler house. Thank you.! You can call them in and trust what they tell you. Got my furnace from them 2 years ago, in the cold of winter, I didn't stay cold, they got the unit in, and my family was safe. They have some financial service to help arrange payments if needed. And yes that's him on the billboards. read more

Called on a 30 degree day when my heat went out and the lady answering the phone was super nice and mr. O'Donnell came right out to replace my thermocouple. A few months later my heat went out again on a Saturday and I called them and again they were super nice on phone and came right out to help. I led him to basement and went down 10 minutes later to see what was up and he was leaving and he said there was nothing he could do I needed a new boiler. Said there was no water in system and no way to get water in system so he could come back in a few days and put in a new boiler. I begged him to look again as I had 20 kids coming over for a birthday party and sleepover that night and it was 30 degrees out and 50 degrees in my house. He said there was nothing he can do. Told me to have my husband call him about replacing my boiler Monday and he left. I called another company they came out and fixed the problem in 5 minutes along with the cheapest thermocouple they had ever seen. Not sure if he is a scam artist or didn't know what he was talking about. read more

I started to loose trust when the girl answering the phone and what O'Donnell himself had told me were different. I did a little research and made a few phone calls and found they lied to me big time and even tried to sell me a new furnace that I didn't need. Our furnace stopped working on Friday afternoon. Tried calling numerous companies. Mostly the calls were answered by an answering service so I couldn't get any idea if or when they'd call back, let alone come out. The businesses who did answer said they could probably come Monday. Since it was supposed to go down to single digits that night we were running out of options. I called O'Donnell, got an actual employee who said let me call the boss and he'll call you back. About 10 minutes later he called and said he could be out in about an hour. He was true to his word, checked a few things, replaced a part and we were good to go in just a few minutes. We were thrilled with the service, professionalism and the cost. Our furnace is pretty old so we'll be replacing it fairly soon. Definitely going with O'Donnell Heating. Would not recommend this company to an enemy. I had a service tech come out from another company to check on the furnace O'Donnell's installed and they noticed that the ground wire was cut, and taped to a panel. They never hooked up a ground wire to the furnace at all. Not only is this dangerous, it is illegal. I am a renter so I had the landlord call and the owner of O'Donnell's , who I found out did the initial install, the owner was condescending and vulgar. The landlord was just was trying to give them the opportunity to rectify their error. After hearing this, I was disgusted. I am filing a complaint with the better business bureau and having the company that did come out sign an affidavit on what they witnessed. I live there with my family and this company put us all at risk. Contractors like this must be held accountable. This is just the 1st step I am taking to make everyone aware of the type of contractors they are. read more

We had an air conditioning unit installed in September 2015. When we turned it on and made a loud banging noise and every time would kick and you could hear this loud banging noise inside the house. I called O'Donnell heating and cooling and told them about it and they came out and said there was nothing wrong with that. Last year when we turned it on the same noise continued. I called again they did not come out but they said that was normal. Now not even three years old the unit does not work when you turn it on and makes a grinding noise that you can hear in the house and it does not work. The house got up to 84° I called them and told them they said they would have somebody call in the morning to make an appointment. The secretary called in the morning made an appointment for Thursday between 12 and 5 PM but that Thursday morning they called and said they were too busy to come out that far and a fix-it to call vastola heating and cooling.It wasn't too far to come out and install the air conditioning unit but it's too far to come and fix really nice! I would never ever recommend this company! read more
