Edit: To respond to the reply from the business owner (because I'm will come with receipts), we called because it was 52 degrees and dropping in our house where we have animals. The furnace was running but not working. The guy came and told us to take up the carpet the seller placed over a vent that was causing our furnace to overheat and it started heating up immediately. And as for the state of our house, we did have numerous piles of boxes as we had just moved in a few days previous. Insinuating we're messy or something was extremely unprofessional and rude. Also I attached a picture of the time he offered us that was 4-6pm, he makes it sound like they came out at 8pm to fix it. I already messaged him privately telling him if he had come to me and told me he thought three stars was more fair I would have changed it but after that response he earned a one star. Edit 2: I did want to point out one last thing, even if we hadn't just moved in and we were just box hoarders or something it's a really awful mindset to have that we don't deserve y'all to come out and fix our heating when it's close to or in the negatives outside. I truly hope you can treat people with more kindness.

Worst company ever, I wanted a 2 1/2 ton air-conditioning unit put in and they insisted on a small…read moresmaller one, Ken (the main owner at the time) insisted that if the one they're putting in won't work, they were going to replace it with a 2 1/2 ton. That never happened. They insisted my ductwork was too small and came and put bigger ductwork in. It did not solve the problem as the temperature went up outside. The temperature went up in the house. The air-conditioning was running all day long never shut off. After seven years, the air-conditioning blew the oil i'll cover which I was told by a reputable company because it was too small. That's why that happened. I fought with them. They refused to put a bigger one in. I would never hire them ever again. They do what they wanna do and want you to pay for it. Air conditioner lasted 7 years and I had a 5-year warranty and I paid good money for it and I received junk. They need to listen to the customer and give the customer what they're paying for and what they want and stop arguing with the customer

By far the best option for us having baseboard heat (I.e. a boiler) was discussed at our initial and follow up meetings with Brian. Having central air is comfortable, energy efficient and cost effective and we'd had enough of noisy, unsightly and even yucky window units. Plus we've been experiencing longer humidity and heat spells in our region. The time had come for us to call in a few folks to talk AC. Brian was the only professional to perform a cooling load calculation on our home. This entailed his going room to room with his tablet and figuring out, Goldilocks-like the unit that would be just right. Not too big. Not too small. We expressed our preference for having the a/c blend into our home; i.e. we did not want a split system. Since we began this project post-summer, we were flexible with installation dates and opted for December. (They'll return in spring to test it and review things with us.) We received regular communication as to who was coming to our home and when. Nothing shady to worry about, each team member was identifiable. Right on schedule, we got the B-Team, as in THE BEST TEAM. Brian got things rolling and Bill, Barry and the rest of the pros, including Rob, Luis, Trevor, Mike, Scott and Anna, showed up and pitched in, humming like a well oiled machine to get it done. Luis and Trevor had the challenging task of being outdoors in the very cold temps and on very mucky, wet ground. And at times on a ladder. However cringeworthy, they never complained. They were mindful of keeping the gate closed (we have dogs) and there was never anything tracked through the house. And like good campers, they cleaned up every bit they hiked in with. Bill oversaw the project with great professionalism. He had marked with colored tape approximately where each register or diffuser would go. He consulted with me if there was even the slightest location change, to be sure it was acceptable. Dropcloths and hot pink waterproof shoe covers saved our flooring from any harm. Scott held a box to catch crud falling from the attic where Rob was creating the openings into the ceilings. No mess anywhere really. The units were installed outside, one was installed in the attic and one in the basement, a big job, done well by Heatwave Heating & Cooling.

This past Friday, I came home from work to…read morefind the thermostat reading 61 degrees and the weather prediction calling for record freezing temperatures all weekend. My husband reached out to New Era and reported the problem - it was after 5:00 pm and the woman he spoke to took his number and said she'd get back to him. We had little faith that we'd hear anything back, but were surprised to receive a call back within the half hour with the news that John would be over within the next 20 minutes. John was professional, friendly, and went above and beyond. Our furnace was beyond repair (It was 20+ years old), but he somehow got it to partially operate to get us through the weekend. He also assisted in getting our fireplace going so that we would have adequate heat. We made arrangements to purchase a new furnace (at a price that was considerably lower than what we had been quoted by T-Mark a few months earlier) and promised that he would be back first thing Monday morning. He wouldn't accept payment for the service call that night. On Sunday evening we received a phone call from Bev who was calling to check on us, and to confirm that John would be over at 9:00 am on Monday. We had about a foot of snow that fell overnight and my husband and boys were out shoveling at about 8:00 am when John arrived. Rather than leave and come back an hour later, or sit in his warm truck, he asked if they had an extra shovel and helped them clear the driveway! John got quickly to work removing our old furnace and installing the new one - he also replaced the humidifier filter and made sure that everything was operating correctly. While i pray that we won't have another heating issue anytime soon, I intend to contact New Era again in the spring to replace our AC unit. I would also wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone else with an HVAC need!

Given the fact that I'm obsessive, I called about 10 furnace companies to get verbal quotes and schedule on-site estimates. Over half of those companies use answering services or receptionists who apparently have no idea what a furnace is. Only two companies answered where I was actual talking to an HVAC technician. The prices for a 45,000 BTU furnace ranged from $1900-2800, which each company giving me a different line about how they use "this brand or that brand" and how so many things would effect the actual cost of the job. One company even told me I'd have to replace my hot water tank, too. I called Hawco based on the recommendation of a colleague who owns several rental properties, and Jim Hawco promptly showed up. He quickly scoped out my set-up and gave me a non-binding quote that was significantly less than the competitors. I told him to book it and cancelled the 6 other appointments I had scheduled for estimates. Jim and his son showed up exactly on the day we booked the installation, and even fabricated a new cold air return for only $100. A new, programmable thermostat was included in the initial quote (most companies make this an option with an upcharge) and will be great for our tenant to save on fuel costs. Hawco is a family-owned business between two brothers and a son, and when you call, you talk to the owner and the guy doing the job -- not a receptionist. I'll definitely be calling when it comes time to upgrade our house HVAC.
