I made a reservation at O-Ku for my girlfriend's birthday, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the level of hospitality and intentionality was unlike anything I've ever experienced. Before our reservation, Nataly reached out and asked a few thoughtful questions about my girlfriend, what she enjoys, her hobbies, and what would make her birthday special. I mentioned that she loves horses, the outdoors, the beach, and that she loves her Puerto Rican culture. When we arrived, they had a handwritten birthday card with a beautifully drawn horse and heartfelt messages from the entire staff. They also surprised her with thoughtful gifts that reflected the things she loves. These weren't generic birthday gestures, they were personal and intentional. As if they had known her for a long time. Our server, Justine, was exceptional. Her knowledge of the menu was remarkable. She explained every dish with confidence, answered every question with detail, and guided us through the evening flawlessly. She struck the perfect balance between being attentive and allowing us to enjoy our evening together. Jeremy, the night manager, also made it a point to check on us throughout the night. His genuine care and attention to detail reflected the culture of the entire restaurant. I've dined at some outstanding restaurants in Los Angeles, where exceptional service is often considered the standard. O-Ku didn't just meet that standard, it surpassed it. This wasn't simply great food or great service. It was an experience built on intentionality, excellence, and genuine hospitality. Thank you, Nataly, Jeremy, Justine, and the entire O-Ku team for making our night truly special. We look forward to seeing you again!

Excellent experience!! Food: The food was excellent on everything we tasted. With the top being the Creme de la Creme Nigiri featuring a perfect slice of Otoro fatty tuna topped with sea urchin. (See photo). The square Tuna Tuna Hakosushi really showcased how perfectly prepared their sushi rice is. Often (and rightfully) overshadowed by the particular cut of fish, the sushi rice is the backbone of all proper sushi and when done well, really ups the quality. O-ku does it expertly! Hamacho Carpachio and sake usuzukuri were also excellent as well as several others. Too be honest, everything was fantastic. Service: If anything could top the food, it was the service! Our table attendant was well educated on the menu, food runners were fast, and the manager stopped by at the end of the evening which is THE measure of a proper restaurant. Thank you! Ambiance: Beautiful. Clean. Understated and perfectly warm, cozy, and appropriate. Very well done. We will definitely be back. Thank you O-Ku.

O-Ku is really beautiful when you walk in and see the gorgeous deco and the staff immediately greeted me. I was alone so I chose a seat at the bar which was gorgeous. The bartender immediately welcomed me and asked me what I'd like to drink. I opted for the Sugar + Spice a little sweet with passion fruit and a nice bit of tequila. For dinner I had the spicy tuna crunch, sushi roll, which was a really packed tuna roll that was incredibly fresh and had delicious flavor. In addition to the great food and drinks the manager, Jeremy came over to say hi and asked me how things were going, and I was very happy that he came over to introduce himself. He was very pleasant and genuine. I definitely will be back to try other items on the menu at Oku soon.

Had been so excited for O-Ku to open, and I can honestly say it was well worth the wait. The restaurant itself is beautiful with such a cool and calm vibe. The decor and everything is very unique, and that was a point that stood out to me as soon as I walked in. The food was also incredible. I'm not the biggest fan of raw fish usually but literally everything I tried was great. The cocktails were also delicious and I can't wait to try more next time I go.

The sushi itself? Pretty good. The Sake Mentaiko and Hama Toro nigiri were solid, But man... the letdowns add up. · Niku Suteki (Wagyu steak) - way too much sauce. Like, I wanted to taste the meat, not a sugar-rush BBQ glaze. Huge miss. · · Tableware - surprisingly cheap-looking. For a place charging 15 PER piece of nigiri, I expect nicer plates and bowls, not standard restaurant-supply whiteware. · And no complimentary hot green tea?! In a sushi restaurant at this price point? That's just weird. In Japan, even conveyor-belt sushi gives you free hot tea. Here? Nope. Would I go back? Probably not --

O-Ku Tampa absolutely lived up to the hype. I've been to the Charleston location before, so I was really excited they opened one in Tampa and it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was 10/10. The crispy rice was so good and the Black Magic roll was a standout. Huge shoutout to our server Justine who was amazing all night and made the experience even better. You also have to save room for dessert. The ube cheesecake is a must get and the miso caramel soft serve was the perfect ending. Already can't wait to go back! What I ordered: - Sake Mentaiko: salmon belly, mentaiko mayo, tomato, aburi - Goma Maguro: akami, kuro gomadare, crispy shiitake, togarashi - Hama Toro: yellowtail belly, ponzu jelly, serrano - Sake Usuzukuri: salmon, truffle ponzu, pickled wasabi stem, black lava salt, chives - Crispy Rice: spicy poke, yuzu kosho aioli, serrano, micro cilantro - Black Magic: lobster tempura, masago, spicy aioli, squid ink rice - Oceanside: spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, togarashi, cilantro aioli, seared salmon, tokyo negi - Ube Cheesecake: Blueberry yuzu compote, shiso cream, sesame tuile - Miso Caramel Soft Serve: Toffee crunch

Went for the pre opening several days ago, and I was blown away! The drinks were fantastic, and the passed around light bites were great! I really enjoyed the shrimp, salmon, oysters, and ube cheesecake! The service was impeccable, and the bartenders were as attentive as they could be despite the crowds. I really enjoyed the sho gun cocktail. It was semi sweet, and refreshing bliss. The ambiance was also something to brag about. Very beautiful open concept, and lovely decor. I plan to go back next week to immerse myself in more of what they have to offer. I wish this new establishment the best of luck and future success!

100/10. No notes. Flavorful, delicious, incredible. I was amazed at the quality of each dish, not to mention the great aesthetic of the overall restaurant. Our server was very attentive and the food came out at a great speed. I will say this is probably the best edamame I've ever had in my life. Definitely will be returning soon, a great spot to celebrate and bring loved ones. The GM was awesome as well.

We came here to celebrate our anniversary, and the atmosphere was absolutely beautiful easily the highlight of the evening. Unfortunately, it took about 20 minutes for our nigiri to arrive. Our server explained that because the restaurant is still fairly new, they currently have only one person preparing all of the sushi rolls and nigiri. To make up for the delay, they sent us a complimentary bowl of tempura firecracker shrimp. We are both health-conscious, so it's not something we enjoy, but we genuinely appreciated the thoughtful gesture. Overall, we would rate the sushi around a 6 / 7 out of 10. They are getting situated and we plan to return in a few months to try them again. New restaurants often improve with time, and the beautiful atmosphere definitely gives this place a lot of potential.

The atmosphere was a 10/10! Everything I got was a flavor bomb and tasted fresh. The portions are on the smaller side. I recommend ordering 2-3 items per person if you want to be full. Service was very attentive and fast! Live music would be great!! Otoro Toast Edamame Spicy Tuna Crunch Lobster Temaki

Came in and sat at the bar on opening night. We had the sugar + spice and shogun drinks - which both were on spot. We ordered the truffle edamame , pork belly bao , the corn and KARAAGE chicken for starters. All were delicious. But if I had to pick one to recommend - definitely the TRUFFLE EDAMAME. Then ordered the miso snapper and Oceanside roll - both of these were Perfection. The miso snapper was the best part of the meal - great size too! Happy this location has opened - with the Miami / tulumish vibes .

I always get so lucky finding newly opened places, they opened 7 weeks ago. I was in town visiting for a quick trip from California. The space is absolutely gorgeous, Rachel was our server she was fantastic. Cocktail and food was great, one of the managers introduced himself, he was very pleasant and down to earth.

This by far may have been one of the best food experiences I've ever had. O-ku just opened up and what better way to experience a restaurant than with a birthday! Me and a group of friends got a late night reservation for Saturday. Let's start with our waitress Dalease (please forgive me for the spelling) she is phenomenal. Beautiful personality! Great with large groups! Knowledgeable about the menu! I can't say enough about her. I knew we were in good hands. Everyone ordered their own cocktails and each person had great things to say. I ordered the draft sake and the Sauvignon Blanc. Both were delicious I could taste the tropical taste of the sake. As for food, three people ordered rolls and two people ordered chicken teriyaki. The entire table could not stop complimenting their food. Not a single meal was bad. NO NOTES. I love to try new food so I ordered the Gindara which is a miso glazed black cod with red kosho and scallion. AMAZIINNGGGGG I wish I was kidding when I say that was the best thing I've ever had. I immediately wanted to order another piece. The flavor just melts in your mouth. The glaze was just perfect. It wasn't to much, it was the perfect amount of flavor to touch my palette before being followed by the black cod. Followed by that amazing taster, I ordered the Oceanside roll. This roll comes with spicy tuna, tempura shrimp, togarashi, cilantro aoili seared salmon and tokyo negi! What a roll!! This was also amazing. The cilantro aioli was very captivating. It can be easy to overdo, but the cilantro flavor pulled through very well. I was so overjoyed with the level of service and quality of food and beverage. Being that this was a late reservation some restaurants start to lack on these things because it's the end of the night, but that's not the case here. Everything was exceptional. I insisted on thanking the chef and our server for putting together such an amazing evening. My group chat is still talking about this dinner. We can't wait to bring all our friends back. Don't think about skipping out on desert either! There was just the same amount of enjoyment going around the table as we tried to squeeze in one more course. And if you're wondering did I order another piece of the Gindara...I SURE DID!

Could Management and Ownership Leadership Please Take Notice…read more As loyal customers who truly love and support this venue, we are asking management and ownership to please give some attention to the details that have recently been overlooked. Over the past few months, particularly since some of the management changes, it feels as though the eye has not always been on the ball. These may seem like small things individually, but collectively they have a noticeable impact on the customer experience. The happy hour wine has been unavailable for more than two weeks. Bathroom toiletries and supplies have not been consistently replenished, including paper towels that went several days without being replaced. Mouthwash and cups were unavailable for weeks and were ultimately purchased and supplied by a loyal customer. We absolutely recognize that the air quality has improved substantially, and that investment is appreciated. However, on high-traffic evenings, the smoke can still become overwhelming. Could ownership please consider investing approximately another $3,000 in two additional Airpura units? It seems like a relatively modest investment that could make a significant difference in the comfort of guests, and employees. We are bringing these concerns forward because we genuinely enjoy the venue and want to continue supporting it. A little more consistent attention to the details that made this place special would go a long way. We hope management and ownership will take these observations in the spirit in which they are intended--from loyal customers who care about the venue and want to see it continue to thrive.
