I came to Sweet Corner on Story Road with a group of six on a Sunday night around 8:30 PM. It was not too crowded, so we were able to find a table easily. The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, and I really liked the decorations inside. It is a comfortable place to sit, chat, and hang out with friends. Our group ordered the avocado smoothie, soursop green tea, and durian soy pudding. The durian soy pudding had that distinct durian smell, but the soy pudding made the overall flavor a little bland. The ratio might have been slightly off. Two of my friends ordered the avocado smoothie and thought it was okay, but they wished it had a stronger avocado flavor. The appetizers were the highlight for me. The popcorn chicken was definitely the best item we tried, and the curly fries were also good. We also ordered a combo with fried fish balls, lobster balls, and fried tofu. It was decent, but nothing really stood out. I was actually on the way to another shop nearby and got attracted by their large posters with pictures of some offered items displayed on their doors. They had ches, varieties of drink options, and desserts. The staff was quite patient and friendly as I tried to navigate the menu. Ended up with the che bo dam (mash avocado with pudding) and the suong sao, hat e, nuoc dua. The looked like ches from Bambu but didn't quite compare. The bo dam was good but the other wasn't as refreshing as I thought it would've been, as it was sort of light and bland. The restroom was clean but there was a big, newly dead cockroach on the floor. Such a cute spot! Inside is small, but cute and there is super cool chalk art on the walls. Their chai is delicious, spiced, and has the perfect sweetness. I was a regular since this place first opened (so I have been coming to this place for YEARS). I used to go so often that even the employees knew me as the Thai Tea girl with 50% sweet, 50% ice. As soon as I walked in, an employee would just immediately start making my drink before I even finished paying. I have seen this place changed owners 3x now and unfortunately, this is the final draw. A few weeks ago when they recently opened with their new 3rd owner, I asked for my usual Thai Tea, 50% sweet, 50% ice. The ice was more than usual, but it was still acceptable. Today, I asked for 50% sweet, 25% ice and the cup was literally full of ice. I asked the employee why was the cup full of ice if I asked for 25% ice. They responded that the policy changed and that the ratio of thai tea and ice would remain the same? I then asked what would 100% ice look like then. The employee responded that the ice cubes would be bigger. Young man, I'm not that dumb. I lost it at that point. The Sweet Corner has been lost to enshittification. Good bye, Sweet Corner. I swung by this place for a drink while waiting for our table at Blue Monkey, and decided to try #1 Green Grass Jelly and it hit the spot! The coconut water made it a more refreshing drink which was what I was looking for. I also really enjoyed the chai seeds, grass jelly, and pandan jelly that was in there. This place looks like it also has a lot of other good desserts, and my Vietnamese friend highly recommended their hot desserts, specifically #20 (cha bap) and #25 (che chuoi). We dropped by to grab a slice of tiramisu this afternoon after lunch. The lady was having a hard time to separate the slice from the whole cake and I noticed there was a little bit missing corner at the bottom when she took out a slice. Was very disappointed as this had been my go-to spot in the area for over ten years. Today was the last time I'll ever be back. Ordered milk teas for the family. Not only did they ignore the request for no ice, they filled the cup with 2/3 ice. When we asked the staff, we received a rude, "yeah" with no other explanation. Another staff member said they filled the cup with 8oz of milk tea. That's great, for a 24oz cup, checks out for 2/3rd ice. Might as well call the drink "ice with a splash of milk tea." I like the kiosk more since it's a bit quicker. It also shows you pictures of each item, which is helpful if you aren't sure of what the drinks look like. As a non Vietnamese speaking person, I found it hard to order the drinks due to the language barrier. While I have had much more delicate consistency from other places, for ~$5 you really can't hate. The flavor is there and the consistency is good enough. My favorite place for Vietnamese chè! Pro tip- get a coconut milk + fresh coconut water mix, light ice, the following toppings: coconut meat, pandan jelly, red jelly, and kidney beans. I feel like the mango doesn't really taste like *mango* but yummy nonetheless! The lychee Italian soda was also really refreshing. The slice of red velvet kind of reminded of "nothing Bundt cakes".
