My first dinner of a 2-week trip to Italy in October 2024. It was nearby the place we stayed and our host recommended it. With no reservation, we showed up a little early and were seated outside right away. Lines got longer as the evening went on but the service remained efficient and friendly. My husband ordered a lemon pasta with grouper and really liked it. I'm not a seafood fan but did like the bite I tried. I ordered gnocchi sorrentino and really enjoyed it. This dish feels like the ultimate comfort food, so soft and flavorful and simple. And it came in a tiny little cast iron bowl. O'Murzill was a lovely intro to Italian food in a wonderful neighborhood in Sorrento! Absolutely recommend. read more

Came by for lunch on a Sunday at around 1:45. There were only a handful of other tables dining at that time. We ordered the Antipasto O'Murzill for two (fried anchovies, fried squid, mozzarella, bruschetta, salami, marinated olives, artichokes, and rice balls) and the special of the day, which was a lemon pasta with fish. All of the seafood was fresh. The anchovies and squid were lightly battered and perfectly fried. The tomatoes from the bruschetta were very sweet. I loved the fresh lemon on the pasta although the pasta was a bit undercooked for my taste. The fish was great. It's not a dish I'd normally order but I'm glad we did. Overall, it was a great meal. Highly recommend getting some sort of seafood dish here. read more

HOLY COW. This place is a gem! Out of the way of crowds with nice ambiance. Our server was very helpful and recommended this delicious lemon and fresh caught fish pasta (daily special) which is something I would never have selected for myself off the menu. It was absolutely incredible! My husband got the gnocchi with sausage and mushrooms and it was delicious as well! We also got the Caprese salad as a starter and holy moly was it insanely good and fresh! This was one of the least enjoyable meals that I had on my trip to Italy. Went for lunch and started with the steamed mussels with black pepper. The mussels were cooked fine, but they were served in a broth of hot water and the only other flavor components were black pepper and lemon. They love to use the term "rustic" to describe the cuisine in Italy, the idea being that they use only a few high quality ingredients to prepare something simple, yet extraordinary. This dish was simple, to be sure, but I just want something a little more flavorful in my steamed mussels broth. For the main, I had spaghetti with clams, which was okay, and my wife had the gnocchi alla sorrento, which seemed like a soup consisting of 1 warm jar of Ragu marinara poured over gnocchi. The gnocchi themselves were very nice in texture, but the complimentary flavors were simply missing in this dish. I've looked at the other photos and read the reviews and perhaps we simply ordered the wrong dishes, but I did not enjoy the meal very much. read more

We came across 'O Mezzil' as we were walking around d our hotel. This is a very small and quaint place located in an alley way. They have both outdoor and inside seating. We asked the 2 of the 6 people waiting in inline for a table and they said they have been here for a week, so they just keep coming back. We had a 15 minute wait for party of 4 and were seated outside. The service was prompt even though the restaurant was packed. We ordered our meals. I was pleased with how accommodating they were to offer two vegan options. The Risoto or big wheat noodles with garlic and mushroom sauce. I opted for the noodle dish and a salad consisting of arugula and tomatoes. The salad was one of the best I have had. The tomatoes were amazing, but even more amazing was the dressing combination used. You'll be using the bread to scoop up whatever is left over. The noodles dish came out very hot, too hot to eat. It smelled delicious and I finished my plate. The rest of my party enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs and the caniloni dishes as well. If you looking for a nice and quiet place away from the crowds, this is a good option. read more

As non-touristy as you can get in the middle of a touristy town. My favorite restaurant in Sorrento! Small and hidden in an off alley, it's a few notches above the other restaurants in terms of flavor and freshness. To top it off?? Great prices and WONDERFUL service! Restaurant is quite small so highly recommend making reservations. We saw a lot of people waiting and then just leaving. They are great at leaving you alone and letting you take your time, which is bad for the waiting customer. So make a reservation or come when it opens! read more

A cute little spot in an alley in Sorrento! We ate here on our last night. We started with the sharing platter and got to try a little bit of everything. I loved the arancini and cheese. He had an octopus pasta and I had the mushroom and truffle. They were both really good. Mine could have used a bit more cheese but the mushrooms were cooked well! Will start off by saying this was the best seafood pasta I had in sorrento. We stumbled on this place after arriving at around 8:30ish. There was a small line about 5 couples ahead of us that came to about a 30 minute wait. It was completely worth it we started off with the eggplant parm, I had the sea bass lemon butter pasta my partner had the spaghetti pomodorini everything was phenomenal. The food was hot (which is not a given at some of the more popular places in town), fresh, and perfectly balanced. The vibe is very low key for as busy as sorrento can be during peak season, it feels like you're at a small local place. read more

Went here with my dad and sister when we were staying in Sorrento. This was the best meal I had the whole time when we were in Italy. I had the spaghetti bolognese, and my sister had pasta with meatballs and she said they were the best meatballs she's ever eaten. The Octopus looked beautiful and the portions were really good sized. The chicken was tasty in a rich broth. The service was good a well. We didn't wait too incredibly long for our food either. Stopped by with whole family. Great place if you want a real tipica napoletana Meal. We ate out all week and this was the best meal we had In Sorrento. Searching around for an "authentic" Italian dinner and this delivered! Surprisingly it's in a little touristy street, but the food and service were excellent. Had grilled calamari and a pasta dish, both were seasoned well and pasta cooked to al dente perfection. Restaurant is small so you may have to wait, luckily we went in around 8pm and walked straight in. read more

My wife and I stayed in Ravello, Positano, Capri, Castellamare Di Stabia and Ischia, but when we went to Sorrento for a week or so, this was the best restaurant we've been to in the whole Amalfi Coast. We went back several times during our stay. Our favorite was the tagliatelle with Pesto. Cozy, small and unassuming place. The food was absolutely phenomenal. One of the best meals of a 15-day trip through Naples, Ischia, Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast, and Salerno. O' Murzill is the epitome of the Campanian trattoria: a welcoming, tiny establishment serving only local, fresh cuisine. You can just imagine a Southern Italian nonna in the kitchen, filling her dishes with amore and a bit of that Southern Italian passionate and fiery personality. Stepping inside this restaurant, you feel as if you have entered into somebody's home. The waitresses were patient and professional. The decor is warm and inviting. We were in Sorrento for the day and we were going to eat somewhere else when my teenage son did not like the menu there. He found this place and checked it on Yelp and in we went. Luckily they had a table for three. It is very small inside with only six tables. The entire front staff is one person and she works hard to please her tables. Being so close we asked for advice from the table next to us and they having ate there before set us on a good course. I had a salumi plate to start and some house red which was delicious. I followed with a mixed grill that featured sausage, lamb, chicken and pork and I added some potatoes for a side. The food was well cooked and properly seasoned. My wife had some orecchiette with sausage and artichoke sauce and my son had the tagliatelle bolognese which they both loved. The lemon and almond cake was the perfect end to a great meal. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant and really enjoyed sitting outdoors on the cobblestone street. Waitress was attentive but gave us space. Great little spot in the heart of tourist laden Sorrento. This 25 or so seat place reminded me of rural Italy. We ate the gamberi and clams/mussels antipasti and enjoyed it very much. We also had the pesto pasta which was excellent and bolognese which was your typical fare. This place had more flabor that most and the smallness gave it good ambience. read more
