I've always been hesitant to try a new place(new to me). I've lived in Norwalk for several years and always missed getting a good pastrami or corned beef sandwich in NY. We decided to try O'Neill's tonight for a PTA charity. I'm glad we went, because I was starving and wanted a corned beef sandwich. I must admit I was a little hesitant when I saw the sandwich and that it look like two big, thick pieces of meat. When I bit into the sandwich, I was transported someplace else. The sauce, sauerkraut all melded together, nicely. I'm trying to save some for lunch, but it's becoming difficult..LOl. Let's say it tastes the way corned beef should taste! My guys had a ceasar salad and fish and chips which were quickly gobbled down. The ambiance was sports bar-ish. The Met game was on. We did take out. Service was great and the server was able to take Apple pay on his device right there. We received our food quickly, as it was pretty packed in there. read more

Stopped here for lunch and had fish and chips - it was very good. The fish was moist and tender with a light coating - way better than the almost inedible thick coatings I've had at some other restaurants. Service was prompt and friendly. Worth a try. read more

Was in town on a Saturday afternoon, and after business was complete was craving an Irish Pub experience. O'Neill's was a home run! We were seated immediately, and had drinks on the table just a few minutes later. All this despite the place being nearly full and rocking. Between the two of us we had the Bangers and Mash and Chicken sliders. Both were delicious, and were served in good time. The atmosphere is right on, and every employee was friendly and helpful. You guys poured my pint like it was American shwag beer. C'mon O'NEILL'S, pour a proper pint of Guinness. I would expect the pour I received, if the bar was named Billy Bob's of the backwoods that never even saw a pint of Guinness. You guys are better than that. IF, the bartender is new, then you should make sure he knows how to pour a proper one. Your food is still very good, as well as the atmosphere. We enjoyed ourselves. It's a pretty cool place to bring a group of friends for some bar food or to watch a football game, but I don't know that it would be my first choice when thinking of a place to go out for dinner. I have been a life long resident of Norwalk, and although not a "regular" at this pub, I have been here dozens upon dozens of times over the past 15 plus years. I had frequented this establishment at its "old" location very often when I was a bit younger and have had nothing but good things to say about this place. Many of my friends, family and colleagues have attended this establishment even more on a frequent basis than myself, in fact my family had just been to dinner there this past week. I have loosely become to know some of the staff over the years and have been greeted with a handshake at times. With all of this being said, I am a medical professional working late hours and have recently "liked" to go here for last call after getting off of work at around 12 for a drink to "wind down". I had recently gotten off of a stressful shift where I had to unfortunately witness a death. I went to this pub to simply have a beer before they closed to gather my thoughts and decided to situate myself outside away from the "drunk crowd". The "bouncers" started moving the crowd out of the pub as it was getting close to closing. I had given the bouncer the thumbs up indicating that I was aware and he had told me "you're good" as he had seen that I was sitting finishing me beer. No sooner did a higher member of the staff that had I been cordial with many times in the past ( I will not mention any names) come over and tell me to "get up, we're closed". I was not drunk by the way and had no problem doing so as I understand that they didn't want people hanging around. As I was getting up to go he proceeded to state how "I come here all the time at the end of the night lurking around", I had soley been sitting at an outside table finishing a beer that I had purchased and was well away from any chaos. I was very confused by the term "lurking". He then proceeded to have a very intense and aggressive demeanor telling the bouncer to "get him the hell outta here" and telling me to " leave the fucking property". I was completely in shock observing this outrageous disturbing behavior and could not believe how an individual that can act polite to your face many times could have such an egregious presentation. His actions were so unprofessional it was sickening. Although it may have no bearing on anything, multiple colleagues of mine that know this individual were also very surprised In hearing this. People can do whatever they want, but personally I don't advise to attempt to befriend or have a great deal of respect towards certain people in life. This example just demonstrates how money/ business is more important than common respect for semi frequent patrons or individuals in general. I do not plan to go back here nor do certain people close to me. Just know that a handshake from certain individuals that manage this place is simply a two faced crock of shit and ultimately has no meaning. It is sad because I once really liked this place, but will not stand for an individual being belligerent to my face as if he were a father yelling at a son. He has no clue about my schedule and or why I show up when I do. Also there had been a lot on my mind from my evening at work and these actions were the icing on the cake and completely overboard. read more

So I went here a few weeks back had a bad experience left a negative review but still made it clear in that review that the employees and food were awesome but that the owner who i spoke to was unprofessional and rude. I decided to give it another shot tonight, and I was stopped at the front door by one of the other owners saying I wasn't allowed in because I left a bad review on Yelp. Do you imagine being a business owner and not trying to make their wrongs right? On top of all this upon walking in I saw multiple kids underage that I know for a fact are not of drinking age , and the owner said he didn't want the black person with us in their establishment. They are racist and 100% garbage, and nobody should ever go here. read more

Stopped here post wedding rehearsal and night of wedding and the service was great. We met the bartender Liam the first night, which was quiet and our service was great! Second night the bar was packed and as soon as we walked up to the bar Liam recognized us immediately and got us our drinks! Being o it if state visitors we felt right at home. I came here last night for 50 cent wing night with my boyfriend. I really love the atmosphere! Everything looks really clean and very pubby, sporty, and fun. The waitstaff is very nice and laid back. This is a nice place to go for a casual night out. We had drinks and chicken wings. I had a cosmo which was really good and my boyfriend had a whiskey sour which i also liked. I will insert a picture. The wings were not bad however they only have maybe 4 or 5 flavors. I definitely want to come back to actually try some Irish food. All and all nice set up, late hours (I think they are usually open to 1 or 2 am) good staff! Service was very fast too which is always a plus :) read more

The greatest staff in SONO paired with a perfect Pint and excellent food. This is not your average Irish pub, the quality of the food is amazing. Highly recommend the chicken sliders or Buffalo tenders for starters. Chop Chop Cobb salad with Cajun chicken for lunch or the Shepard's pie if you are hungry. Curry is outstanding. Decided to stop by this place after a trip to Walmart. The restaurant was decorated nicely and was pretty calm and quiet when we arrived around 4 PM. Our waiter was very friendly and efficient. They had a great list of beers and cocktails available. I ended up getting a blueberry tequila lemonade, which was strong but good! We ordered some Irish nachos as an appetizer which came out quickly and were tasty. We were also given freshly baked Irish soda bread which was so good! For dinner I ordered a chicken pot pie which was a good size and very flavorful. Overall I am content with my visit. Great service and delicious food! No complaints on my part. Total disappointment. Wanted corn-beef and cabbage for St Patrick's day. Got a plate with corn beef and at most two forkfuls of cabbage. The rest of the plate had two large mounds of mashed potatoes broccoli cauliflower and parsnips. The cabbage could only be considered a garnish. Stopped on a weekday with my family. There was a big match on but no one seemed to mind us bringing my 3 yr old granddaughter & week old grandson. We were welcomed in & had a fabulous lunch. Service was great but the food was exceptional. My daughter's chicken pot pie looked so yummy!! My son-in-law had an amazing blue & gold burger & I had the fresh fish & chips. We also had the Irish empanada appetizer which was a shepherds pie filling. All & all this was the perfect ending of our day to the Aquarium. I highly recommend it. read more

Must say, even though the current location is spacious and well laid out, I miss the old O'Neill's. It just reminds me of my early 20s (and ok, sneaking in well before that). The 'new' venue is set apart from the flow of SoNo and represents a kind of sloppy, cover band jammin', freshly minted 21 year old scene. However, the food is decent from what I recall, and the brews are fine as well. I wouldn't go hear during peak weekend times (I'm becoming less and less of a party animal) but it's an a-ok spot overall. read more

O'Neils is a popular bar and not a bad place to hangout at on a weekend night with a band. The only reason to eat here is either at lunch or in desperation when everything else is absolutely, positively closed (or you can't get in due to crowds) in SoNo. Basic bar food, nothing special. After 5-6 beers the burgers aren't horrible, but avoid everything else on the menu. read more
