Greentec EV & Hybrid Batteries - EV Battery Replacement

The diagnoss was I needed a new hybrid battery... estimate $6,600 including a new 12 V battery. I didnt think it was prudent to spend that much on my 2007 car and researched options. They were more epensive at Toyota dealers and the diagnostic test were as well. Toyota no longer makes hybrid batteries for the 2007 Prius so they are refurbished with 1 or 2 year warranties..for ove 6K A very nice place that sells 12 V batteries for my car told me to contact Greentech Auto in Auburn. They explained that there were choices .. a refurbished with a 1 year warranty that was made to last for 2 years, a 2 year warranty refurbished hybrid that was made to last for 4 years and a 4 year warranty battery with new cells that was built to last for 8 years. The price for the 4 yer warranty was $2,700 and they would install a new 12 V battery as part of it with no labor charge if I provided the battery. I got one at Napa in Bellevue. They said it would take 2 weeks to make the battery with new cells. I had my car towed to Greentech in Auburn. The 4 year warranty battery was ready in 5 days and they called me that it was finished. They said I didn't need a new 12 V becaue once the new cell hybrid was installed it started and ran perfectly for days, so it was holding the charge. I don't drive on highways so they delivered my 2007 Prius to my house at no additional charge and gave me all the paperwork. They were knowledgeable and clear about keeping ny hybrid battery in good condition. With gas prices what they are I am thrilled to have my Prius in working order and not having to buy another vehicle under pressure. Greentech makes hybrid and electric batteries. They actually suggestd I get the less expense battery since I don't drive very much. The warranty on the hybrid with new cells is transferable to a new owner if I sell my car. BRAVO Greentech. Bravo to the battery place Pacific Battery in Kirkland that recommended I check out Greentech. Bravo to Tony's roadside assistance for coming so quickly to jump sta and my battery and being straight forward about suggesting I need to check out anytt other issues my car had. I whole heartedly recommend Greentech Auto in Auburn, and the other auto professionals who gave me excellent advice that did not line their pockets.

After weeks of emails we finally got a local number and set up an appointment. I hadn't even gotten out of my car yet when I was greeted. I asked if they had a battery for "this", and he said, "I sure do!" I said I would need new terminals, and he said that would be easy. He started to explain something, but I (probably rudely) interrupted him and said, "Do what you gotta do, because I can't start it without a jump". He said, okay, and started grabbing what he needed. The battery is located under the passenger seat, which is on the left side of my right-hand drive vehicle. He had to work inside the car to change out the terminals and place the new battery. He took care not to make a mess, picked up all the cuttings, and fixed my seat and carpet. I had to have the same service done to my other JDM vehicle. I went to the Tacoma shop that time. The battery is under the hood of that one, so less work. Great service there, too; however, Puyallup service was $20 cheaper. Before I left, he asked if he could take a picture of my vehicle. You're a lifesaver, Chad! Thanks so much for having what I needed, being so cool, and getting me back on the road within 20 minutes. *Side note: I read another review, and I feel like I have to say this. I'm a female and an islander. I didn't feel any discrimination or racism.

The service was very quick, but the pricing and communication were quite bad…read more I went in to have the battery I had purchased four years ago checked. I'd been going to this store for a very long time, but it had a new manager. The manager attached a meter to the battery very quickly, which I appreciated. I didn't see the meter, and he didn't explain anything, just, "Yep, it's bad." He gave me the replacement price, which was high, but I decided to go ahead and have it done. I asked about the warranty, and he said it was five years. I said, "Does my current battery have the same warranty?" "Yes," he said, "You bought it here." "So, am I due some pro-rated discount because this battery failed early?" "I can give you 10%" "Hmmm," I'm thinking, "I'd have thought 4 years out of 5 would be a 20% discount," but I didn't know how they prorate, so I let it go. When he rang up the sale, he forgot the discount. I asked about it, and he said he could give me a slip of paper for an extra core charge when I come back to replace this battery. This was because it was "too hard" to run the sale over again. He scribbled on the back of a business card and initialed it. (It is pictured below.) Of course, I'm thinking, "So I have to hang on to this piece of paper for four to five years and come back here for another battery because you made a mistake and are too lazy to run the transaction over again?" He caught my look and said he could run it again, but he was "just trying to save me money because running a credit, and a new sale would be two or three transactions, and the card machine charges me $2.50 every time it runs a card, so I would end up losing most of the rebate." I'm thinking, "Huh?!" All this is happening at high speed, I feel pressured, and so I decide it's not enough money to hassle over, and I'm not up for the fuss. So I end up paying the full (high) price and have to keep track of what I think is likely a worthless piece of paper that won't be honored even if I just happen to be in the right place at the right time when I need a new battery sometime in the future. Nah, not gonna happen. Needless to say, I'm very disappointed, feel poorly treated, and slightly deceived. I won't go back to the store and will not recommend it to others, which is kind of sad because I've been going there for so long (when it had a different manager). Oh, well, life goes on, and it's not enough money to worry about, but the principles involved were worth mentioning. There, I got that off my chest, and I feel better now. :-) Thanks for being my online counselor! LOL.
