I woke up one morning with a dead battery. Went to O'reilly's since I had been there before and it was nearby. I bought a brand new Optima Gel Battery for my car. I had to wait for delivery and when it arrived, there was a chip in the side of the battery (pictures attached.) I asked the salesman on duty if this was going to be an issue, adding that if it was I didn't mind waiting. He swore it wouldn't cause an issue so I took my battery and went on my way. About 6 months later, the battery has now gone dead again. I went back to the same store because my Optima battery should have a 3 year warranty. The first person I talk to is SEVERELY unprofessional, trying to blame my dead battery on countless other parts of my car and clearly trying to get out of warranting this condition. After generous pushback, he finally orders the battery for me. He adds that I need another part to hold it into the car which I purchase. Head home, to install the part, and notice that literal battery acid is leaking from my Optima. So the next day, I head back to pick up the battery. This time I speak with a different person. Again, I'm treated like the enemy and said salesperson tries to gaslight me, telling me there's nothing wrong with the battery. "It's your alternator, it's you battery terminals, etc." again, after raising his voice at me for a brief second and making it ABUNDANTLY clear that he thinks it is my own fault, he sends one of his guys to replace my battery and check my alternator (for the second time) At this point I should add that my alternator passed the test with FLYING COLORS. My car is well maintained, and I know how the charging system works. anyways. I head home for the night, and come outside the next day to see if the new battery fixed my issue. What do you know? The car starts right up. The entire staff at this location has a negative, arrogant attitude and have little to no knowledge about cars. I will be taking all my business to Autozone from now on. read more
