I found out the hard way I was going to need a new alternator, I barely made it home, the battery went dead just as I parked. I had bought the battery at Advance, on the advice of the Techs at nearby Brakes Plus, another place I trust 200% to work on my auto! So, I bought a whole new battery, to go along with the new alternator install job. I brought the dead battery to Advance for the core credit $22. But, listening to my story, the staff said Let us try recharging it, and put my phone # on the battery. They said Come back a bit before we close if we don't call (these guys get very busy, lots of customers) I arrived later, the old battery now was fully charged again, so I will keep it, instead of the $22. Nonetheless it is a 1990 so naturally age catches up to various parts regardless of the care they receive ... my Steering Wheel was one of those. Though it was tired and old looking, I could not find any local upholstery shop that would/could refinish my Steering Wheel to my satisfaction. In fact, the top shop here uses one of those tacky Steering Wheel Cover Kits. Fortunately, years ago I saved a link to an American Stitches website. I clicked on it and was taken to Craft Customs in Rockwall, Texas ... the shop's name had changed. After speaking with Kathy, I was convinced Craft Customs was the place to trust my Reatta's Steering Wheel with. I was not wrong. I have no idea what happened to Robert L, but I can tell you firsthand that the photos on the site are spot-on representations of the quality of the actual finished product. My expectations were very high for the money and not only did Craft Customs meet that bar ... they far exceeded it. The refinished Steering Wheel looks just as it did when the car came out of the manufacturing site in Lansing, Michigan in October 1989! The leather is a perfect match for the Airbag [that resides in the middle of the Steering Wheel], the foam padding is the exact circumference as the original, the leather was just as tight as original, and the stitching is flawless and factory-like. Stunning craftsmanship. I highly recommend Craft Customs. Note: Obviously, I am not a photographer, chuckle.
