I'm posting this on whole as a warning to any customer dealing with O'Reilly Auto parts... Buyer beware on anything that has lifetime warranty... They openly give you the impression that if there's a defect within the item or it wears prematurely that they will replace it.. that is a bold-faced lie. I brought expensive composite brake pads didn't even last a year. They ordered me a new set and then expected me to pay for them. I drive no more than 5,000 miles a year in this particular vehicle that the pads were put on... This is a shameful policy and a bate n switch.. highly untrustworthy company.. I would recommend finding anybody else to deal with for any future purchases they cannot be trusted to honor their commitments.. Ever since they started doing their remodel of the store it's been a complete mess. Can't find what I need, don't carry what I'm looking for, and if they do, it always has to be back ordered. One time there was even a guy who must have been a manager berate an employee up at the front counter in front of customers. That's absolutely and totally unprofessional. Came here on a weekday work lunch break to replace my wiper blades. Location is organized and clean with plenty of parking spaces. This review is mainly for Harley who was a huge help. He automatically recommended a budget friendly option versus just showing me where the most expensive wiper blades were. In addition, he kindly checked to make sure that I installed my wiper blades correctly and when he noted I was missing a plastic piece in the arm (from an old wiper blade), he took the extra time to find a replacement part before suggesting I purchase an entire new blade. Dealt with Kragen for 20 years before O'reilly took over. Since then service has been spotty, not bad enough to write review about until now. Since they were close, I gave them all my business. Never went anywhere else. I do my own body work and bought 3 tubes of Bondo glazing putty a few months ago (Which through the years have used regularly) and found it wouldn't cure for sanding: stays soft and gummy, so I tried to exchange them at the store. They were the exact same Bondo P/N's and item numbers, so they were their product. The material was easily determined defective as the caps and tops of the tubes were spotted with the product and was soft and gummy, not hardening for sanding. I explained I had used it on some work and when it wouldn't harden I went to another tube and same thing: soft and gummy causing me to have to scrape it off, clean the parts with a lot of trouble. I wasn't asking for a refund, I just wanted to exchange bad for good product. First I was told I couldn't exchange it because I hadn't used the activator! This was not body filler and activator is not required. After pointing this out , by reading the instructions for use, "Hardens in minutes for sanding". They determined I hadn't purchased it from them by searching the Rewards file on me. I responded that many times being in a hurry, I paid cash but because I couldn't provide a receipt, the manager refused to replace the obviously defect material. I'm sure Bondo would have done an exchange and taken to their lab to see what went wrong. I left the three tubes ($9.95 each) for that purpose and advised them they had just lost a customer of 30 years and I would NEVER be back. They made it clear they didn't care. Went to AutoZone and purchased the exact same product with no problems in it's use. read more

Really disappointed in this store. A few nice younger guys work here (hence two stars) that are helpful but other than that the staff is rude and short. Im in the military so I asked if there's discount and that really annoyed the older cashier who didn't believe I was in the service!!!! She inspected my military ID awhile and wanted the last four "numbers" (whatever that is?!?!), all that for like 5% off!. There was little selection of oil filters in stock and the reference manual they had there to look up the filters was in pieces so that was useless. Avoid this place! read more

I took my receipt to exchange a 5W-30 gallon of oil for a 5W-20 from a Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic 5 Quarts and a WIX Filter promotion. The guy at the counter tried doing the exchange and said he hated doing returns. He told me I had to pay $11.99 + tax to do the exchange. I got him the store ad and with a very grumpy face said that didn't apply and again said he hated doing returns. I left the store and went to the Oceanside store on Mission and the guy Justin there did the exchange without the drama I got at the at the Vista store. He explained his logic of troubleshooting my car's symptoms. He recommended several products and even offered assistance. The parts made my check engine light go away and he made a customer for life. I just called to ask for the price of a battery for my car which I already called Autozone for the price (no need to buy warranty just a battery). The price was same with free installation ,but with O'Reilly Auto you have to buy a warranty for 3 years which cost more than $18. I asked the guy that I don't need the warranty, but he told me that it's a package. You gotta be kidding me! Why do I need for a warranty for the first 3 years. If i am buying a new one. If you are in Vista, this is your ONLY O'Reilley's worth visiting. Above and beyond customer service from all of the friendly employees. I was on the way home from casino, super rushed to take my daughter to an event in S.D. when a fluid light came on. I stopped to buy fluid, with only minutes to spare to pick up my daughter. The employee asked to put the fluid in, completed it which was when I realized I locked my keys in the car at the most inopportune time. Not only did every employee attempt to help me open my truck - one of them called a relative who went to retrieve tools & then showed to attempt. ultimately one of the employees opened the back sliding window but not before another tried a ring of 50+ keys. They were relentless in helping me and SAVED the day. I cannot say enough about their chivalry. It went above and beyond any expectations on their own accord without promise of compensation (although I did pay the successful one $30 and brought back beer and homemade cookies later). And I made it to pick up my 9 yr old. and she made it to Disney on Ice. THANK YOU!! read more

I just bought a used BMW and the front grill piece came off, so I went to the BMW dealership and they wanted $45 just for the plastic part, so I called Auto Zone and got a not-so-reassuring answer as to whether or not it could be fixed using some kind of adhesive. Then I called this O'Reilly Auto Parts store and not only was the woman on the phone confident and helpful, but when I got lost (because I am new to the area) she made sure I had the right directions. When I got there, she greeted me with a big smile and hello and knew exactly who I was. She then referred me to George Gonzales the Asst. Manager, and let me tell ya, I cannot say enough about the service and help I received from him. It was one of those times when I actually stopped to ask for his personal information so I could call corporate and tell them what a great employee he is, but when I did not have any cash to give him as a tip, I made sure I went to the store and got it for him. Not only did he sell me the right products but he totally took his time and fixed it for me, and he did an amazing job.
