Being by myself I sat at the bar - and the service was very attentive and friendly. I ordered the tuna tartare from the appetizer menu. Tuna tartare is one of my go-to's at restaurants - and this one is the BEST as far as presentation, texture and taste that I've had - and I've had many!!! It was served on a bed of avocado and a soy/sesame dressing, topped with I think were micro greens. I also ordered the chop salad, which had, lettuce, chopped rutabaga, pepperoni, tomatoes, cucumber and cheese in a fruity light vinaigrette. The rutabaga defined the salad - it added a nice texture. The live music on the Saturday night of my visit was low-key easy listening on the piano, a nice background that enhanced the ambiance. Gawd, this place for me is 5 stars, but even if it wasn't up to that level it would still get 5 stars in my book based on the tuna tartare alone. read more

The TV screen by us was off or not working. My sister ordered the Crap Imperial. She said it was okay. My granddaughter and I split the steak. The steak was good but we scraped off the sauce topping. I can not say enough about Oak and Honey . Usually restaurants in hotels are not good . Not this one , we had the wild caught Pacific salmon. It was the best salmon we ever had . My boyfriend booked it before the Michael Jackson show, since we ate everywhere else. Something new. Looked over the menu, we picked mussels, shrimp and the baguette . The drinks we good. It didnt really want vodka choose the one the server recommended. We were still deciding on food mentioned the food to the server and she put the mussels in already before we made a decision. Mussels came out we were excited to try... it already smelled fishy... not flavorful and cooked for two seconds. Not good! Came in with some friends to grab some drinks and a little snack before we went off to grab dinner. My friend had recently just visited Oak & Honey - she noticed that the menu had changed (which we confirmed and it did!) They have a new chef! My friends got the blood Orange spirtz and I got the Honey I'll Be Home Late. Both drinks were good, but they went down pretty fast! I am curious to try their margarita sometime. It's a very beautiful restaurant/bar. I love the seating and the decor on the inside. It seems like a great place to get the girls together to have some drinks. The bartenders were very nice and friendly! You can sit anywhere you want and you order up at the bar. I think this place is in a great location & would come back again to try some of their food. Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars so I'm giving it a 5. And they deserve every single one of the stars. The bartenders were very kind and attentive to my needs. The decor of this place is absolutely stunning IMO. And the food and drinks were delicious! I had the bartender make me a drink of his choice followed by what kind of liquor I wanted to drink. He made me a 'tigers blood', absolutely delicious. It reminded me of strawberries crushed with ice & sugar I would make at home! My friend and I ordered the charcuterie & cheese board and the wings. Both were delicious, although I don't know if the charcuterie board was worth its price for what all we got though. The flavor on the wings were pretty on point, i forgot what the flavor was though. The name of the place is "oak & honey" so if you pay attention, little things around the bar are honey themed. It is so cute to me! The olive jars & other toppings/garnishes are in a honey jar, the charcuterie board was served with honey, and above the bar they have jars of honey all around! The service was great but the food was okay. For the price and the amount of fish I received, it was not worth it. There was only about two small pieces of fish in each taco. There was more lettuce than anything and the pico was very chunky. It had huge slices of onion in it. I would go back for the drinks but not for the tacos. read more

Warning: this is NOT a typical restaurant. Essentially it's a bar setting with a variety of seating options--high tops, low tops, or bar. The menu, which is housed in a clever leather pouch offer "small plates" and "not so small plates." We selected Risotto Croquettes, Meat Loaf Sliders, a Flat Bread with mozzarella, and a sumptuous Charcuterie board that was so delicious we ordered a second! The Sliders consisted of three very thick slices of meatloaf on a small bun with pickled onions, greens and a very spicy sauce. The Risotto Croquettes were crisp with a soft tender inside and a good but not overpowering flavor. The Flatbread was good but not as impressive as the other selections. The Charcuterie board had olives, various delicious meats, brie and parmesan, bruschetta, whole grain mustard and honey with a punch. There was bourbon infused into it. Subtle but unique. There is a good wine and beer list and the prices per glass are in line with reasonably priced venues. The service was extraordinary. We were checked on regularly--both for refills and how we were enjoying our repast. The evening we were there a singer/guitarist was performing and in addition to being quite good, he took requests! Only half of our usual crew could be with us but we agreed we would brag so much about how we enjoyed the evening, they'd be jealous and insist on going! What a breath of fresh air. Lots of wood warms the place up and the honeycomb coasters are a nice touch. Open just over a week but they have their stuff down pat. Check out the many honey-themed drinks, the small alcoves with TVs, or just slide into a seat at the bar. I think they are going to do well and I look forward to trying out their bar menu. read more

First things first: The ONLY reason this place is getting two stars rather than just one is because the manager truly went out of his way to make up for the absolutely HORRIBLE experience that we had here last weekend. I MIGHT - and trust me, that is a big might - but I MIGHT eventually go back ONLY because he tried so hard to fix what was honestly the worst restaurant experience I've had in Greenville in YEARS. We walked into Oak & Honey around 7:30 or so on a Friday evening and the place was dead. The restaurant itself is actually kind of...beautiful. Definitely a better look and atmosphere than one would expect from what is essentially a hotel restaurant and bar. We were able to choose a nice big booth for ourselves (there were 5 of us) and a waiter came around almost immediately to take our drink order... ...except he only took the drink order for 3 of us and rushed off before the 2 members of our party who had half-full drinks from the bar could put anything in. And then we sat there. And sat. And sat. And sat. Not even kidding you, for at least 30 minutes we just...waited. At some point we were able to flag the server down and the other members of our party got their drink order in; they also ordered a charcuterie board, but once again the waiter rushed off before even asking the rest of us if WE wanted to order food (we did). Eventually my friend noticed our waiter arguing with someone at the bar...it appeared that either our drinks were simply never made, or another server had taken them. Which, fine, mistakes are made, especially in a new restaurant...but instead of apologizing for this one and making up for it with better service the rest of the night, it seemed like our waiter chalked us up to a loss and things somehow just. got. worse. from there. My timeline is a bit fuzzy because it's been a week (I honestly had to wait this long to write this review or it would have been a LOT angrier than it is) but basically every drink order we made - even when we all finally got on the same order schedule - the drinks came out one or two at a time and we never waited less than 20 minutes for them. Food-wise, let me recap: two of our party ordered the charcuterie board first. As in, at least 20 minutes, probably more like 25, before the rest of us ordered any food. The first food to come out was the potato chip nachos, which were decent but nothing to write home about (also, once we were down to about the last 1/3 of the chips, they were just soaking in a soup of queso and sour cream and were soggy and gross...which happens with nachos but the grease from the potato chips definitely made it worse). Next to arrive was the buffalo mozzarella "flatbread" - "flatbread" in quotes because the crust was about twice as thick as any flatbread I've ever had. Like...this was basically a thin-ish crust pizza. Calling your pizza sauce 'crushed tomatoes' to make it sound fancy...I dunno, man. Just call it what it is - a freakin' small pizza. And then, long after the nachos and pizza were gone, and a good 5-10 minutes after the couple who had ordered the charcuterie board finally flagged someone down to ask where it was, said charcuterie board finally arrived. Let me remind you...this was the first food ordered, more than 20 minutes before the COOKED food that arrived first. Also, this was the most pathetic charcuterie board I've ever seen, so trust me when I say don't bother ordering it. At this point we were so obviously upset that someone had the manager sent over to us. A good portion of our total bill was comped, he was super apologetic and did actually seem to be listening to us as we explained all of the things that had gone wrong, including the fact that all of this was especially frustrating because even though the restaurant got busiER while we were sitting there, it was never packed, and for most of the time there were at least 5 people behind the bar seemingly doing nothing. (To be fair, we weren't yelling or being nasty to the manager, just essentially telling him "this was bad and shouldn't have happened", which I'm sure helped.) Anyway, I wouldn't say 'go try this place out immediately!' but if it's still around in a few months and there are other, better reviews that show the kinks might have been worked out, I will say that the drinks/drink menu are at least good. read more

I know they just opened and probably need to work out some kinks. The bar area is nice and clean and they have plenty of seating with comfy couches surrounding the area. It still very much feels like you are in hotel bar with the bright lights. Maybe some mood lighting will help with the ambience. The bartender that night was very friendly and helpful. I can't really say much about their food I only ordered the truffle fries that night. I like the presentation but flavor wise I would say it needs a lot of work. Only the few fries on top had the truffle oil flavor and the rest of the fries on the bottom don't. The fries taste like frozen fries sprinkled with parmesan cheese out of a bag. Maybe I'll come back and give it a second chance after all they just recently opened. read more

Gorgeous just gorgeous!! The vibe at Oak & Honey is not only aesthetically pleasing but it's spacious. I love a restaurant where I don't feel crammed and there is actually room to walk. This might be one of my top new favorite places to eat. It's neat because it is connected to Residence Inn by Marriot downtown and when you walk to the outdoor area, there are huge swings lined up in a row that are super fun and cute. Then you walk outside and there is SO much room. You can hangout out here and have a drink, watch the tvs, hang by the fireplace, take a nap- you get it. I was just blown away by not only how cool it was, but how much room there is to do whatever. Perfect for large events as well. OH another one of my favorite things was that if you have a party of 5-10ish, you can sit in these cozy little couches that wrap around. I'll upload a photo. This was a cool spot to hangout in and you feel like it's your own private space. Alright onto the food...LOVE. I had the brussel sprouts and they were coated in honey and other delicious things and I honestly got so full from these before my meal came out. And to top it all off, this beautiful purple lavender drink you see pictured is a MUST. I think it was the Honey I'll be Home Late drink but that may be incorrect. I asked them what their most popular was and they brought it out. Just ask them what the lavender drink is and they will hook you up! Large party as part of an out of town wedding group with reservations on a Thursday night. Restaurant wasn't busy. We had appetizers and entrees. Brussels sprouts and olives were very good. Shrimp was undercooked and cold. Entrees were brought to the table over the course of 1/2 hour. Lamb tagine and Caesar salads came right away. Ribeyes came out one or two at a time after that. When they did come out they were all over the map from almost raw to very overcooked with little correlation to how they were ordered. Groom never got his steak at all. Sous chef came out to apologize but seemed insincere or maybe just overwhelmed. They offered to a free dessert which seemed odd and insufficient. Server was very kind and tried to do the best he could but couldn't overcome awful food. Stick to drinks and some appetizers here. read more

My husband and I were staying in the hotel and decided to grab a bite at the restaurant instead of venturing out. We first ordered drinks which he wanted mead but they were out of it so he settled on a Honey Orange Tripel. I had a glass of wine. Both were good. For food we ordered the spicy chorizo quesadilla and the street tacos. Both left us disappointed. The quesadilla was not spicy at all and had more of a sweet flavor to it. The street tacos were bland and over cooked. We love the hotel so we will stay again but next time we'll be venturing out to try something different. read more

Literally no customer service at all. Can't tell you if the drinks or food is good or not because we were not able to see a menu. Walked in, there's no hostess, walked to the bar and waited patiently and the bartenders acted like we weren't there. The place wasn't busy, empty tables everywhere with a handful of people around the bar. Not sure what we needed to do receive a menu, but after waiting 5 minutes we left. This is not your traditional Hotel Bar, as even on a weeknight there are still people hanging around. If you want to get a drink after your business trip and are lazy to go out you can for sure enjoy. The bar tenders were nice and made sure the service was good. My husband and I had come to town for a wedding and were staying at the new SpringHill Suites in downtown Greenville. Many of the guests that had attended the wedding were staying there as well. Oak & Honey is a bar within the hotel, so very convenient. After the wedding and reception, many of the guests decided to go to this bar for a cocktail, ourselves included. It was a safe and easy choice. Well, it was the WRONG choice! The service was terrible!!! Super slow and the bartender was rude. When we complained about the service, the bar manager (Taylor Phillips) was petulant and unresponsive. Then we witnessed as one of the wedding guests was told that the"bar" would not serve her! We could see no reason for this...she was in no way intoxicated. We had all been to the same wedding and reception. Of course all of us had enjoyed a beverage or two, but not to a level that would warrant being "cut off". We started to worry that we would suffer the same embarrassing treatment. I had dinner there last night. This is one of the reasons I'll be back to stay at the hotel again. This is a solid bar with a good food selection. They also have the the most knowledgeable bartender I have ever met when it comes to the hotel. She gave us a great history lesson and was very personable. She sold everyone at the bar on why this should be our home away from home. Great enthusiasm and also made a really good Kamikaze drink. Looking forward to staying there again in two weeks.
