The one thing that a service restaurant HAS to have is good service regardless of shift change! First I want to say that OSCAR the bartender was WONDERFUL & his recommendations on wine were GREAT. I ordered the octopus skewer but I did not realize it was fried...fried octopus becomes rubber. The sauce was very good and it would have been fantastic if grilled (of course my opinion). The small board was VERY good & offered a nice selection. The restaurant is beautiful and the wall-doors bring the outside in and it was a perfect day for that. Unfortunately shift change happened, I closed my check with Oscar as should be done, and was not looked at again by the replacing bartender...NOTHING!!! I didn't quite enjoy my mojito as much as I was hoping. I was looking for something refreshing and it just didn't hit. I don't know why. PALOMA CAESAR Little Gem, Jamón Serrano, Boquerónes, Manchego, Croutons We enjoyed the Caesar Salad though I personally felt the dressing was a bit heavy. I did appreciate the shavings of Jamon Serrano, which was really tasty, mixed in as well as the server verifying prior whether we would like the anchovies on top, which the answer is yes and we did! That was very considerate though. I think a bit of cracked black pepper on top would've really brought this dish together. MEJILLONES Mussels, Chorizo, Garlic, Lager I love mussels and really enjoyed these! The chorizo and roasted(?) garlic were a nice touch. I'm not typically a lager fan but it worked here, not overpowering. ALBONDIGAS* Meatball, Stewed Tomato, Manchego I honestly didn't think these had a lot of flavor. They were still good but just kinda lacking that punch, maybe a bit of salt to help boost the seasonings a bit? They were good but could be better. I stopped by Palomo, right on Main Street in Greenville, South Carolina, attached to the AC Hotel. It calls itself a "Mediterranean eatery," -- it's really a tapas spot with a few Mediterranean accents. I started with a smoked Manhattan, and unfortunately, it just wasn't good. The cherry garnish was, honestly, the best part -- and that's not what you want to say about a cocktail. I ordered three small plates suitable for birds or those not looking to be rolled away in a wheel barrow. I chose a middle ground trying to follow the 80% rule of blue zone living. Pollo (chicken skewer with smoked paprika aioli): the aiolo was the star garnishing the taste of ordinary chicken. Croquetas De Jamón (potato, ham shaving, manchego fondue): good finish and great flavor, but way too heavy on the potato, which overpowered the rest. Verdura (bell pepper, eggplant, pineapple skewer): just skip it. Service was on the slower side, but the server was nice. It was plated nicely. A bit pricey but that's expected with downtown city dining. Palomo isn't terrible, I just wouldn't return. read more

Okay, so this is a great space at a great hotel, BUT: 1. The service staff is lazy. They have been standing around chatting. The only exception is my server, Tucker, who did a decent job but I watched him supplement for others 2. They wash the dishes AT THE BAR. There is a a rotating cleaner spraying into food and drink. 3. The bartenders are high. They smell like weed and are awful. 4. Came here after seeing The Wiz at the peace center. The food was not great to be honest. Grilled cheese was lacking cheese...had plenty of bread however which makes for a very dry sandwich. My wife and I were excited to try the Spanish food, as we've made several trips to Spain over the last year. The tapas were decent (croquetas and patatas bravas), but the main thing we came for was the paella de carne. It was supposed to come with three kinds of meat: chicken, chorizo, and steak. It was missing the chorizo, which was the main ingredient I wanted, but the server (who was kind, though not necessarily efficient) didn't get to our table until we had basically decided we were done with the meal. All his manager offered at that point was to add chorizo (but we were done) or $10 off. Pretty disappointing for leaving out a primary ingredient. But overall, the paella was just not good at all. It tasted nothing like authentic paella, the rice didn't seem fully cooked, and it was very bland. My wife and I just couldn't eat very much. I will say that the vibe and atmosphere were great, but the food was incredibly disappointing. We will not return. read more

However, they did take the orders, deliver, and give checks out to the groups 10ft from us. When we went to the bar to order so we could make things easier for everyone, the manager told us a waitress would be up in a little bit (as expected, that didn't happen). Our group was all dressed nicely and were sober so it wasn't like we were causing a commotion or being a nuisance either, we just wanted to give someone some money for a drink! Been here a few times and always have a great experience. Tonight I ordered a dirty martini and asked for blue cheese stuffed olives which Oscar made for me. Absolutely fabulous!! The shrimp tapas was very good and had toast to dip into the sauce. Nice touch! The hummus and olives had WAY to many olives in it. I thought it would be hummus with a couple olives to garnish. Stopped by the Paloma for a drink before finding a place for dinner. Love the vibe of this place. It's a bar that serves tapas. I don't eat. I can only comment on the drinks, which were good. The live music was really good. The singer had a great voice, and the bartenders were attentive and made great drinks. What more can you ask for from a bar. It is located inside the AC Greenville Hotel. Apparently, they open up the outside in the summer and have a burger bar. Definitely would return. read more

This place is the worst. The service was so bad and slow. The sever Gabe walked pasted my wife and I 3 times to help others and left us waiting for over 20 min. We had to ask a passing waiter to assist us after she passed us twice. She reluctantly assisted. I am a senior leader in hospitality/Hotels for over 20 years and this was absolutely horrible. I absolutely never complain. I'm so upset I wrote this as I'm leaving. Just not a friendly environment for minorities.
