So, I want to take the other reviews down because I just found out that the new management did not charge me for the microwave but the previous owners that had to buckle and bounce. Wow. I'm really sorry for being upset at the manager here because when I talked to her she was very reasonable and it was not her fault at all. She offered to reach out to the other company and see what happened but there's no proof that I was told I had to pay for it. So I apologize to her because she literally had nothing to do with it. I'm TIRED of "microwave gate" I just want to go on principle. I would gladly or begrudgingly pay for it. The microwave is fantastic. The only e-mail i got from the other company is to stop psying rent because I was three months and some change ahead. Also, I have to reiterate that everything else I wrote was true. Pool and gym were always dirty, and the restroom in the fitness center. Also they'll scam you upon move out. They tried to say I owed them $1400 for cleaning, and carpet replacement. Apartment was left fine with normal wear and tear. Do not live here. Super overpriced for crappy old apartments. They try to call it luxury just because they painted the cabinets and put some cheap countertops in the units. Leasing staff and management also very rude. read more

Greystar properties that owns Oak Crest apartments is a money grab. Once, you decide not to renew your lease. Your final statement has a ridiculous amount of fees. And when you attempt to contact the corporate office, no one responds back to you. Please note, any high rating with Oak Crest is due to the previous property owners (Camden) not Greystar. There are several complaints under Better Business Bureau. Beware before you sign a lease with greystar property. Because you're penalized if you move. Also, in my lease there was a cleaning fee $250.00. So, if there's a cleaning fee...why are you charged additional fees. A cleaning service cost less than $250.00. read more

Move in if you want your rims and tires stolen and receive an email from management not taking responsibility and mentioning there are garages available for an extra fee a month as the solution to the problem. This community was previously owned by Camden and once my lease with another one of their properties ended, I transferred here. Shortly after moving in here, ZRS took over. Myself and many other residents have seen the decline over time. The staff is rude and lazy and I believe this is a direct reflection of manager Misty. She is extremely condescending and discriminatory. Either the staff doesn't give her messages or she decides not to respond. There's garbage everywhere, they force you into paying for valet trash monthly which rarely gets picked up, they closed the fitness center (that we pay for) for 3 months now without any updates on reopening, the pool is filthy and currently closed for algae, the floor plans are small (particularly the bathroom and kitchen), the walls are thin, they hired painters and construction workers that leave trash all over and their machinery blocking guest parking or on the landscape, the maintenance man came to fix one thing and ended up causing another problem, and there's been a few occasions where security gates were down for days at a time. Out of their control, but the property is located directly across the street from HCA West Hospital so you will often hear sirens. There's a resident portal where we can post for our neighbors to comment on, similar to a forum. Before, Camden management would reply to those posts which was very helpful. Now, for whatever reason ZRS "cannot comment" and all posts have to be reviewed before being posted and will likely be rejected. On the forum, you can see similar complaints and some more severe, such as rodents and thefts. I honestly can't think of one positive thing since the new owners took over. Camden would at least regulate and take accountability. I've spoken to ZRS Management directly and they are no better. I've filed BBB complaints for both this property and ZRS. I know rent is on the cheaper side but it is NOT worth it. read more

Recently property got bought by another company and since then it getting worse and worse every single day. Trash that never getting picked up. Mirna and Nicole have been absolutely amazing. From every email to any phone calls they were very responsive and answered all my questions immediately. My moving process was very smooth and probably has been one of the best moving experiences I've ever had. They provided me a beautiful welcome basket that came with Home essentials. My second day here I need assistance with maintenance and I put in a request online the next morning Will, the maintenance man, came right in and handle the problem and was done within a matter of minutes. ALSO, they keep the property very up-to-date and clean and also offer several amenities including a full-size gym and community center. This is a great living environment. read more

ISSUES WITH STAFF: At first there was no issue (2014 and beginning of 2015), then I had the maintenance men coming into my apt without notification or request and when staff was notified and my email(s) were completely ignored. Other emails sent to staff considering move-out went "missing" and other notifications were disregarded. I would get constant calls from the office BEFORE the office opened and after the office closed...and when those calls were acknowledged and I called back, no one would answer, of course, because it is NOT during office hours. SECURITY/CRIME: At NO point in a week would you NOT have the gates broken or not working. This was a CONSTANT thing and the staff seemed extremely apathetic to it. Also mysteriously someone decided to come all the way to the 3rd floor at my building which is close to the office and facing the front and break into my house. Again...they were unmoved. No notices or anything to the community were given. They were not informed. Yet, about a week later someone else was broken into and they alerted the community. That really upset me. Furthermore, there was a complete refusal to change the locks, and prior to the break in, I had asked and asked and ASKED them to set our alarm. Amazing how they set it AFTER the break in...So I have come to the conclusion that the person who broke in was someone who knew our alarm would not sound and they could easily get away with it. POLICY: Policies are really just formalities at Camden Oak Crest. Whether it stemmed from parking in someone's PAID space, being LOUD and OBNOXIOUS in the parking lot and/or pool AFTER hours and into the EARLY morning; People were CONSTANTLY breaking rules and not being reprimanded for their actions. It's frustrating when you adhere to the rules and others do not yet you two still maintain the same privileges. In my completely honest assessment, I think they are so anxious for tenants and to be filled to capacity that they are just allowing ANY and EVERYone to live there. When I first moved in, I chose the apt because it was quiet and clean...now...with these new tenants, people sit on steps smoking whatever substance they can get their hands on, littering in the grass and parking lots, cigarettes, beer cans and bottles everywhere, loitering at night and early morning. and ROACHES!!!! I used to NEVER see any insect in my apt, but...once the apt changed its makeup, I would see HUGE cockroaches in my apt and around the apt. I WAS MORTIFIED. The one good thing, I will say, is Priscilla. She was actually the sweet face that motivated me to move into the place initially (when things were good). I've lived here for over two years now. The first year was mostly good, until Christmas time when a resident was robbed at gunpoint. The front office emailed the community stating they would "consider" hiring a security guard onsite. This never happened. Now this past year we have had several apartment break-ins and our mailboxes are constantly being broken into, resulting in mass theft of our personal information and belongings. When you tell the front office about these thefts, they ALWAYS deflect and try to shift blame onto the postal workers. They will swear up and down that the post office delivers to the incorrect addresses, and that there is no way that crime could possibly be occurring on these premises (despite the aforementioned armed robberies). This is a lie. 2 weeks ago, my building's mailbox was very visibly broken into, evidenced by damage to the outgoing mailbox. We were instructed to pick up all mail from the post office until it got fixed. I've had thousands of dollars stolen from my mailbox, many Amazon packages, my health insurance cards. After this most recent break-in, we can add hundreds of dollars in prescription medication to the list. I have NEVER had to worry about my mail being stolen anywhere else in my life. I have made several reports to corporate, and not once have they offered to rectify any resident's losses, nor were they even willing to consider installing a camera until this most recent break-in (of course there is no ETA, or official confirmation that this will even happen). At this point, I've cut my losses and opened a PO Box. I simply do not trust this community with my belongings any more. I will not be renewing my lease when it ends. I have several coworkers that love within a mile of this complex and not one of them has been experiencing any mail theft. So I moved in about two weeks ago and I'm loving it. From the time I filled out my application to the time it moved in it's been a great experience. I love the fact that the community keeps up with one another over the Camden website, keeping each other posted. They even fill request for maintenance in quickly and the maintenance is 24 hours they will help you. We even have valet trash services. Look I'm happy the place is quite and kept up very nicely and great on keeping you safe. The mail room is secure and also in side of the complex unlike some other apartments. This place has felt like home since I've moved in and I'm happy and comfortable hear. read more

While living here has been fairly good, aside from one employee who never seems to offer a friendly smile, we have had some real issues when preparing to move out. We broke our lease 2 months early because we purchased our home, thus had to pay a penalty fee of one months rent, which we gladly prepared to do. We gave our 60 days notice and payed those months of rent as well as the penalty fee. Three days before the end of our updated contract, I called them to verify what I needed to turn in. All I was told was to turn in the keys. So the following day, I went to turn in the keys and gate entrance keys. At that moment I was told to turn in other things, such as the parking sticker of our cars. Luckily, I had one of the stickers because of the vehicle I had taken with me. What frustrated me the most at this moment is that they told me to give this stuff in two days before the end of the contract. I was leaving on my honeymoon that same day. When one is moving, it is hard to keep track of where everything is going, so there is no question I will lose a pool wristband, a house key, etc. I expect that they have the same courtesy to give me a notice of what they require of me, just as we gave them. Mirna said they had given us the notice and that the information was documented in the computer. Apparently the notice was left in our door, which we never got. I do not rely on their word, especially given the following issue: The other issue I had was bringing my dog in and being charged a fee, which I didn't mind paying. The letter I received from them stated I was going to be charged $400, then they come to find them wanting to charge us $500. I had to mention this to Mirna and showed her the letter, who had said the policy had changed two years ago. I don't understand why the letter was never updated, two years is plenty of time to update it. Living here hasn't been all that bad. It's clean, quiet, and maintenance requests are addressed quickly. I enjoyed living there, but not moving out. I just ask they have the same courtesy as we did with them when it came to giving notices and be consistent in the informatIon they provide and request of us. read more

I don't know how I feel about this place quite yet, but the chances of me renewing my lease are low. I've only lived here for 4 weeks and I was drawn to the beautiful property, but in those 4 weeks, there has been a car and apartment break-in. The car window was smashed and the apartment break-in happened in the same building of my apartment. There's also been a number of stolen packages/wrong address delivery of packages. I did not know prior to moving in that the apartment complex doesn't accept packages and I personally work from 12pm-10pm sometimes 12pm-12am leaving a huge amount of time for my packages to be stolen from my front door. The only thing the office has said is that, "crime happens everywhere," and, "packages have been reported to be dropped off at the wrong address all across Houston." Well, of course. I completely understand that, but the apartment complex could reduce the chances of stolen packages and wrong addresses by accepting packages in the office for residents to pick up. If I had a home I could take precautions buts it's hard with the way apartments are set up. I now have to pay for an off site mailbox to send my mail to which is a huge inconvenience considering my work hours. read more

I live here now. I moved in during NOV 2014. I am happy with Camden Oak Crest. I have very few complaints. The management does what they can do to keep the apartment nice. If I could give Camden zero stars I would I'm still trying to contact management. I spent a year in these expensive apartments then transferred to another with a C-section and a 2 month old got to the apartment after the move was complete with my baby and it smells like smoke I contacted Mirna I was told that I could be placed in another apartment for 2 days while the smell is taken care of but there's no bed etc. I stayed for a month and asked to be transferred to another Camden trying to quietly move. My daughter is a premi and ended up at the ER with a bronchial infection and not being able to breath I have asked numerous times for managements number I still haven't received it or some sort of discount on rent moving compensation nothing. I will be contacting an attorney this ridiculous. I see management responds on here hopefully someone gets the message. I'm currently at a friends house until I move. read more

I've been a resident here for a little over a year, and I absolutely love it here. The maintenance crew is very attentive to all of the work orders, and strive to make sure everything is perfect. The pool area is cleaned every day and the landscaping is always well maintained. The property is in a great location - not too far from the downtown/Galleria area (which makes it affordable for those on a budget) and also close to the Katy area (which is beginning to have many more attractions). My stay at Camden Oak Crest has been nothing short of amazing! The staff has been extremely friendly and more than helpful during situations that could have otherwise been extremely stressful. I had an issue with my garage. One the day I was picked up my garage opener, I went to the garage and it was still a ton of stuff in there from the previous owner. I informed the leasing staff and they were on it in a matter of minutes. The garage was cleaned out the next day and I was prorated for the day(s) I was unable to use the garage. There was also some frustration with switching from an unknown cable company to xfinity. I think the leasing office did an amazing job mitigating the frustrated residents. All in all, Camden Oak Crest has been a great place to live and it's mostly due to the attentive staff! read more

Moved to Houston in 2015 and selected this place because of the location, the size of the apartment (2BR with 3 walk-in closets!), and the number of high quality Camden properties around the city made me think they would be good landlords. Management and staff were professional, friendly, and quickly responsive to questions and issues. No problem with pests, residents were friendly. Two things I did not like: 1. the walk-up apartments felt too "open" so anybody could walk up to your door at any time. Since most complexes are like that all over Houston, I had to get used to it. 2. The office does not accept packages for you. Two boxes were delivered to my door according to the post office, but I never got them. So I had to get a PO Box and not let packages get delivered to my apartment. read more

I have been living here for 1 year and everything is good so far. I live in second floor but have my own private stair so that's great. The complex is always clean and maintenance is quick and efficient. The inly complaint is that they stopped receiving packages since I am here. This is very inconvenient for me because I got packages lost all the time, especially during holidays like Thanksgiving and Xmas. Really thinking about moving. When I first moved in the community was quiet and ok. Now it seems like there is a lot of riff raff moving in. I'm praying this is my last year renting because I can tell this place is going down slowly but surely. Maintenance is great, I do not really go into the office much because I am not the best with holding my tongue so I try to not deal with the young lady in there, I usually just go into Myrna's office and ignore the other staff. She is really putting my maturity to the test. The head manager I'm not fond of, at first I thought she was prejudiced but now I just think she's just rude to everyone, now she I do not speak to at all. I honestly just like Myrna and the maintenance staff. I honestly do not see why people say Myrna is rude, I do not see it. The gates are always broke and I view that as a safety issue, especially with the break-ins. Maintenance requests gets resolved in a timely manner, the only problems I had were out of their control or honest human mistakes. The maintenance staff are very friendly. For me it is mainly the neighbors that are starting to move in, I just cannot deal but you cannot pick your neighbors. The walls are very thin and with my neighbor I can honestly hear everything, EVERYTHING. I just honestly hope this is my last year renting. read more

Camden oak crest isn't the creme de la creme of apartments but it is however a very nice place to live. I can't say it's worth the amount you pay for rent necessarily. It has a nice, friendly staff and the overall premises is relatively well taken care of. The aesthetics of the apartment are nice and they respond promptly to complaints. The people living there might or might not be the best depending on your age group and what you would prefer. One main problem I felt NEEDS to be sorted out ASAP is the stench that blows from the nearby sewer or bayou every now and again. That simply needs to be addressed. I still live here, so I'm not certain what I will get charged or won't get charged for once I leave. That's still up in the air. Stay tuned for my final review once that happens. I have been here for 2 and a half years now and I must say the experience hasn't been the best but definitely not the worst. My main concerns are the sewage in the area and the ever sky rocketing rent which doesn't matchup with what you would expect from paying that much interns of service and living. The staff are however the best. I can't say I've had any problems with them at all. They are worth giving a try but might not want to commit to an extended lease upfront without knowing fully what you're getting into. The rent is a bit much like I said. I also hate that they don't allow for Comcast . Was told I could use any cable provider prior to moving in. They intentionally neglected to say but Comcast(xfinity). It's only been about a month but I feel Camden Oak Crest is currently the best value with a great location in West Houston. After researching and visiting over 25 properties (including five Camden properties) I narrowed my list down to 3 properties. (Two were Camden-Holly Springs & Oak Crest). While Camden Holly Springs was a larger property with a nicer pool and health club (gym) I was able to get a one bedroom for $300 less at Camden Oak Crest compared to the townhouse at Holly Springs. Yes, the townhouse is larger with an attached garage but what would you do with an extra $300 a month? I really liked the Camden Living website where I could search real time apartment rates/move-in dates online. This is a more efficient use of time and once I selected my apartment the application, lease, and rent could be completed online as well. You will need to pay the deposit when you move in by cashier's check or money order. The Staff: Very friendly and will follow up quickly with any question or problem you may, mostly via email. The management could be a little more proactive in communicating with residences on upcoming projects and events. The property is well maintained and they are currently painting the outside of the apartments which requires you to remove any furniture from your patio. Signs were posted on the building that it was going to be repainted, but seemed to miss the dates and times. Camden Oak Crest has a community blog where staff and residents can communicate with each other. This is great tool to get information out quickly that is just a little underutilized. All minor issues that can be addressed as the Manager has an "open door" policy with the residence and welcomes feedback. Move in: The apartment was very clean with very minor issues to report to management. We received a nice note from our leasing agent with some Camden pens and tissue. The note was handwritten and told us to stop by the office if we needed any bottled water. I would have been more impressed if there was a note in the refrigerator with some bottled water, no big deal, unfortunately we were too busy moving to stop by the office. The property has security gates which are opened by a key fob by a swiping a panel as you drive into the property. We started moving in after the office closed on Saturday and our key fob didn't work so we waited for someone else to open the gate. Make sure you have the staff check to see if your key fob works, ours had to be reprogrammed twice. Also, they will provide you with an electrostatic Camden resident window sticker for your car. This is used to identify your vehicle and give you access to parking near your apartment, visitors can park in marked areas. Community/Amenities: Neighbors were friendly and offered to help, while we didn't accept as we are pretty self-sufficient, it was a nice first impression. Work has kept me pretty busy but the pool is always clean and closed on Monday's and the "Health Club" provides free small towels for you to use. Trash is picked up by a valet which an addition monthly fee (currently $25 per month) and you have access to a secure outside bin that has a compactor. There is one amenity which I feel desperately needs to be improved, the "expanded" cable TV service which is a reoccurring monthly fee. (Currently $33 per month) provided by Phonoscope Cable. Their customer service is not the best and they admitted internet connection speeds to our community are very slow. Every other Camden property I visited had Comcast/Xfinity service which only cost $17 more a month with better channels line up and internet speed. Before moving I was able to reduce my bill by $33 per month and they increased my channels and internet speed. Overall: If you are looking for apartment community that has a lot of amenities with a helpful staff in a convenient location, add it to your list of apartments to check out.
