I've been there twice now and probably won't be back soon. My first visit was for lunch. When I walked in the place, it seemed very busy. I was excited to try something new in the neighborhood. I ordered the Calzone with a soft drink. The tab came to about $14. Too expensive for what I got. I could get the same Calzone just as good across the road at Jimmy's Pizza for under $10. When I took a seat at the counter facing the windows on the west side, I found it very uncomfortable. The chairs are not designed for counter height. The chairs should be stools or the counter should have been set at normal table height. My second visit was for a quick dinner on Sunday evening. Ordered the French Dip Sandwich with the waffle fries and a soft drink. Not overly impressed with the sandwich. I've definitely had a better French Dip. The au juice that came with the sandwich was cold. Overall I feel the atmosphere here to be cold and uninviting. Not the quaint neighborhood gem I was hoping for. read more

This little spot would go unnoticed but for word of mouth. A small spot in a non-descript new strip center on Highway 55. Food is delicious, service is attentive. Ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully prepared. we had the fish tacos, chicken wrap and spinach artichoke dip. All were VERY good. they serve beer and wine. Each dish is prepared as ordered. The setting is also very comfortable, with a variety of seating options. including a long family table conducive to group dining. Let's patronize this one of kind spot. They are hard to find in the western suburbs among the large chains. I applaud the owners for trying to bring local freshly prepared to suburbia. read more

Loved this new Hamel/Medina restaurant. The Cuban sandwich was absolutely delicious and ALL the food coming out of the kitchen looked amazing. I'm going to try the Buffalo Chicken flatbread next -- it looked so good! Attentive counter staff were informed and helpful in answering questions about the menu. Looking forward to visiting for a Saturday or Sunday Brunch. I'd love to keep this place a secret but I want it to survive so check it out. You won't be disappointed! read more

Fresh, creative, quality food. Have had the fish tacos (really tasty, when I saw the sauce that it came with utilizing oranges, I knew that the food wasn't gonna be basic), and Hamel Rodeo Burger. The burger was really good but lacked seasoning. Every element of the burger was savory sweet (BBQ sauce being the main one) with the only salty element being bacon. Patty is nicely cooked and tender but had little flavor besides beefiness. Can't say that this would be a problem for other items on the menu, but I think it's noteworthy. Went to Oak Eatery for the first time tonight. Overall, the food was good. The restaurant had a simple, cozy feel to it. Not overly busy; however we we were there at 7:15 on a Wednesday night. My husband and I each ordered burgers; his rare/medium rare, mine medium well. The waffle fries and seasoned sour cream was great and my burger was very tasty. The problem was my husband's burger: ordered rare/med rare and came well done. Mentioned this to our server who said: Sorry about that. Next time we will write down that it was the burger should be cooked medium rare. From there, she walked away. Really? We ordered the burger to be cooked a certain way. It didn't arrive that way, but it's good to know it'll be written down next time. . Not yet sure if we will visit Oak Eatery a second time around. read more

Our family of 4 dined tonight and we had a nice meal. I thought the Rachel was awesome and my husband liked his pick your own topping pizza. The service was good! For the style of restaurant (deli - style) we were taken care of nicely. If you want somebody to wait on you at your table, this is not the place for you. The only draw back for me was waiting in line for a second beer mid- meal. They need to work on the kids meals. I have a 5 and 7 year old and both asked for more food. Compared to other restaurants, the portion is small and there are no sides with the meals we had (Mac & cheese and pizza). My daughter asked for seconds and my son ate some of my meal (which worked out for me). It would be great to have simple to serve items such as applesauce, yogurt or fruit. Also, $6 price only included water or soft drinks. Milk and juice were extra. All that said, we will return but won't get kids meals. Pizza only for the entire family. Well... I was really excited to try out this relatively new local joint until... we ate here! We had a group of 5 on a relatively slow Sunday night. No line when we got there and open tables. The restaurant itself is spacious and has a modern feel! The menu was in chalkboard form as well as printed so we could see a detailed list of the ingredients for each item which was helpful for ordering, but the positive vibes ended there! Staff was less than friendly, appeared annoyed to answer questions about menu items and despite saying they would ensure our meals came out together, we had one meal come out about 7-8 minutes before the other 4! We ended up waiting over 30 minutes for 2 salads, a wrap, a sandwich, and a burger. Guests who ordered after us received their food before us despite ordering quite a bit after we did! And no apology on the wait! A lot can can be over-looked with a little bit of kindness and acknowledgment. Bummed it wasn't what we expected! read more

Poor service on weekends by uber privileged Wayzata students and no adults supervising. Orders have to be corrected and items ordered never get delivered to table. Asked an employee to remind them of the missing item and the employee told me to ask someone else. I asked if she could relay my request and she said, no. Thing is, I have been here 8 to 10 times after church and the same thing has happened to my order at least 80% of the time. I guess I am the foolish one that keeps going back, tipping 30% each time and hoping they get better. I had brought my mom here when she was alive and I think I just like the routine of visiting the Oak Eatery after mass now that she is gone. read more

This maybe a different review than normal but, I believe it's warranted. I'm a potential future supplier for this restaurant and when I arrived to meet the owner to drop off some samples I was met by two very personable employees who we very interested in my product. When Dawn( the owner) came out she was very nice and greeted me with anticipation. This was one of the few times since I've been in business that the owner and the employees tried my samples right in front of me and gave me their opinions. It was very gratifying to hear their comments about my products (which are gluten free) and to learn which ones they liked. Nice coffee house, but the food was not great. We ordered a wrap and fish tacos. How can you screw up a wrap?

I was there yesterday with a friend for a late lunch. We were greeted by friendly faces and a knowledgable staff. We had the tortilla soup and the turkey pot pie soup which were both delicious and perfect for a cold day. We split the gobbler turkey burger and fries. The burger was juicy and the the fries were fresh and hot. I am looking forward to trying out their breakfast too. I will definitely be returning! read more

Seriously good food and cool vibe. I had the French dip which was loaded up and the meat was cooked really well. Very unique too with a little sweet touch. The waffle fries were well seasoned and nice and crispy. My boyfriend had the bison burger and regular fries. His burger was perfectly cooked medium (people mess this up a lot) and really juicy. We plan to go back for a latte and breakfast tomorrow morning, it was really that good. read more

We went to try Oak Eatery for the first time. We decided to try it for happy hour and they have a great, sunny patio. Interior and decor is cute and modern. Food was wonderful, we got the $6 happy hour chicken bruschetta and buffalo chicken flatbreads. Excellent choices. However, the style of service is a bit strange from what we expected. You order your food at the front counter and they bring it out to you. But we were told to order and pay and it would be a normal restaurant service. However, we ended up getting our own plates, silverware, water, drinks, etc. The most odd part is when you pay they ask for a tip and the service was no different than ordering at a fast food restaurant so this was very confusing. Especially since they had tip amounts of 20% and 30% which is almost offensive. 30%??? I could get if the staff was actually doing something and going above and beyond to make your experience amazing, but the cost of making our food should be factored into the price of the food. Food was good but the expectation of a tip for not doing anything seems strange that we probably will not make it a local spot unfortunately. read more

Went on a Saturday evening. Cold breeze blowing through door -- could use a small vestibule considering there's a table RIGHT inside the door. I thought the prices were high but the burger was good. However, we ordered two medium rare burgers and one medium; got two mid-rare and one rare. Fries were tasty but the chili was ICE COLD. Like they hadn't heated it at all. I'm not really into the "industrial" atmosphere at this place -- hard anywhere, but in a tiny drafty location, it's pretty intolerable. And, if we're expected to tip, it would be nice if someone would check to see if the food is OK or if we need anything else. Saw others eating and overheard comments about cold food, bland calzone, etc. Close to home and a shame: we won't be going back. For the price, I'd rather go across the street to a warm location with atmosphere. And I'll pay a tip for service, not just because we ordered food. If we're expected to pay more for the food than is listed on the menu, why not just up the prices? read more
