I see that the Bear Paddle Swim School is under construction, Rock Star Nails recently opened and one of my faves, Barnes & Noble, continues to do well here. For the last year, I visit Village Crossing several times a week. You would be amazed at the amount of cars here before the crack of dawn! I mean, you may be sleeping, but I and other workout fanatics, stockroom workers, cleaners, vampires, are all here before the sun rises.

There are a few…read moremajor retailers: Dick's Sporting Goods, FiveBelow, Barnes & Noble, Michael's, OfficeMax, PetSmart, Jewel, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Ulta Beauty, and an AMC Movie Theaters that's in a weird place around the back. There are also some small boutiques that I love--the Half Price Books is a terrific store where I always get good deals on hard to find books and rare CDs. The food options are good and well-placed, for what is essentially a series of wonkily-positioned strip malls. You won't go hungry at this shopping center. There are a bunch of fast food places clustered in the north-east section of the shopping center (Panda Express, Corner Bakery, and a Penn Station East Coast Subs), a few on the north-west side (Subway, Jersey Mike's), and sit down, stand-alone restaurants that ring the parking lot (Chili's and Outback Steakhouse). Near the AMC Movie Theater, there's a Buffalo Wild Wings, Village Roadhouse, and a Red Robin. I still have nostalgia for the huge CompUSA that used to be here. It's where I bought my first "real" computer--the Bondi Blue iMac in 1998. I also miss the Pier 1 that closed back in early 2000 (the sign is still currently up). If you're taking public transit from the city, catch the Pace 290 from the Howard Station of the Red Line, and it'll drop you across the street from the mall. If you're driving, good luck--this mall has a reputation for the roads and parking lots in front being oddly placed. I think there's also a parking garage for the AMC Movie Theater, too.

The only reason I'm giving it three stars frankly is because even in the last almost 20 years I believe that they've been open unfortunately there's been a lot of turnover when it comes to the restaurants. I'm not sure if this is simply due to high rent, but there's really nothing that the Glen or its Landlord are doing in order to provide any real stability and it's rather unfortunate. Also, since this place was built, the parking situation has always been a challenge and it continues to be. In fact, it just gets worse with all these special parking places and reserve spaces that continue on the main strip. The massive area was previously the site of the Glenview Naval Air Station and this shopping center is the heart of the huge Glen residential community as well. There are numerous shops and restaurants here and it's always a pleasant experience to visit. Like Fashion Outlets in Rosemont, every time we visit there is something new here. One business or another has left and another has stepped in. The rent must be high here, and if you don't continually draw the requisite traffic, you won't survive. We've seen a lot of businesses come and go. Remember Ted's Montana Grill? - it was a favorite of ours and also one of the first to disappointingly close in our earlier years, and that's now The Oak at the Glen, and in a prime location. Some of our favorite and long standing and still standing businesses here are Von Maur, Dick's Sporting Goods, and the Yard House. I could probably name another 20 shops or restaurants we liked or tried here, but that have all since closed. Jibek Jolu is a relatively recent addition that we like for what that's worth. We were going to try Dee's Place (soul food) one day, but dang, they closed before we even got to it, and that was a big investment in a large space for that restauranteur, and too bad. It can get busy and crowded, but nicely there is alway parking to be found in one of their parking lots. Oh well, business is tough here for the tenants, but for us consumers, this is a great upscale town center.

I have been going here since I was in highschool and go pretty much every time I am in town too. The Starbucks, Convitos, Jewel Osco and Cluckers were all open in the plaza as well. Home Shopping is dealing with crap left right and center from just about every department up their ass with orders. The hours are a nightmare and they tend to screw you over with your shifts. One day it's like 9am to 5pm the next day it's 3pm to 12am and the next day it's 4am to 12pm. They do nothing about shoplifting or worse people complaining about the prices only for the manager to give them what they want even though they will complain about your sales being too low. You are paid minimum wage with no health insurance or benefits for being overworked like animals and the "exclusive" worker discount are a joke. You don't even get a discount on FUCKING MILK! As a worker do not support this place until they learn to treat their workers better. Not to mention that even with inflation the deals are terrible. Like I believe as of right now there is a sale on chips buy 3 get 2 free (idk my department mostly stays in one place) but the chip bag sizes are a THIRD of what they used to be and the prices are absurd. The meat especially is a joke they are small cuts with huge chunks of fat poorly trimmed and often leak meat juice out of them. The produce is the worst part as everything is either rotting, looks like it's going bad, too small, or even a combination of all three. Want my advice go to Sam's Club and buy your groceries in bulk or even Mariano's since this place is owned by Ebenezer Scrooge.

From jewelry to handbags to clothing, Co-Op California offers quite a variety of girly stuffs that will please many a lady. The space is pretty expansive and lots of treasures are tucked away in various cases and displays. The clothing selection was pretty deep, lots of offerings with limited runs in each, but some of the styles didn't quite match with mine. I spied lots of embellished tanks and tees, some denim, and lots of open sweaters. Most of the clothing ranged from $30-$150. Some of the brands I spied (and enjoy) were BedStu, Nation Ltd, and Elan. I was most impressed with the super friendly staff and wide selection of jewelry. I picked up a metal and thread stitched bib necklace and a super cool gold cuff bracelet with a pyrite top. These items were priced at roughly $45 and $40 each, which seems reasonable for the quality, uniqueness, and workmanship. There's also a large open space in the rear of the store that the owner mentioned she uses for spa nights, gallery showings and other local events. If you're in Edison Park and looking to check out a unique shop with cool offerings, definitely pop in for a visit.

I have consigned there three times now. The only problem with that is that you continually have to go in and see if you have a check because she will not call you so if you have clothes you want to get rid of or if you're shopping for nice items at a discounted price come check it out, but don't expect your check unless you go in and ask for it.
