Great little pie place. Pecan pie was good. French silk was good. Both ladies were very nice. I also have some fudge to try later.

My first visit to this is quaint little drab brown pint size pie shop on Oak St. in Roanoke was earlier this year in the spring. It is nestled amongst a long row of shabby chic shops, BBQ, Cajun, Burger, Italian, and pastry eateries; all walking distance from each other. There is a covered outdoor seating area on the side of the building, cooled by wall mounted fans. Upon entry you are greeted with the aroma of sweet butter (not 100% convinced it's REAL butter) in a small area with refrigerated glass display counters full of assorted pies, cookies, and fudge. Any pie can be purchased by the slice or whole. I saw standard 8" or 9" cherry, key lime, pecan, German chocolate pecan, and coconut creme pies. There are also small individual 5" tart size pies that are approx $5.50. Slices range from $5-6. Now, on with my review. I should have remembered my first when I ordered the key lime pie and how it was teeny tiny. While it may have been a good size from a caloric perspective, for $5.50 it fell short. I've paid less at Luby's and gotten a bigger slice and a pretty good pie. A thin sandy graham cracker crust with a lime custard filling that was not too sweet or tart. It was just ok. I have tasted better. It's presented with a small dollop of whipped cream and a half moon thin lime slice. My love of authentic German chocolate prompted me to take a chance on the German chocolate pecan pie. This was a hefty generous slice for $5.50. It was basically a fudge pie filling in a pastry crust with coconut & pecan topping. It too, wore a dollop of whipped cream and was very very rich. The portion was definitely sharable and would've been great with a good cup of cafe'. Overall this is a pretty cool place. The pie is ok. The young teenage girl at the counter was super sweet and personable! I love to see young people with outgoing communication skills. She offered more than a greeting and initiated a conversation. I wish I'd gotten her name to shout out props to her. The ambiance of the covered seating area seems pretty inviting and the perfect setting for a memorable time whether w/kids, a date, or for no reason at all. Ate at Babes next door and decided to drop in and get a pie for a NYE party we were going to. They were out of peanut butter pies so opted for the banana cream. BIG MISTAKE!! At the party I noticed only 1 piece missing. So I tried a bite. It was NOT like any other banana cream I've tasted. The banana "cream" part was a gelatinous disgusting mess that hardly tasted like banana. I rarely write reviews on Yelp. Something has to either be REALLY good or REALLY bad. Unfortunately, I learned a $34 lesson that Oak St Pie company's banana cream pie was REALLY BAD!! read more

I really hate to change my 5 star review, but my serving size today was just not up to par. I come here 3-4 times a month and I've never really had an issue with portion size. Today, I got home and looked at my slice of pie and it was TINY. It looks like the employee just didn't cut evenly to the middle of the pie. My go to place for dessert to take to dinner parties. My favorites are butter milk pie and pecan pie. To be honest, Mouth is watery thinking about it. This past Saturday it was a last minute decision to grab a pie at 5p to take to my friend's! By the time we called, my faves were gone. The gentleman who answered the phone suggested coconut crème pie and boy was it delicious!! he said they're not taking any new orders for 2 weeks. First come first serve for the coconut creme pie. I paid over the phone so it won't be gone. Please go get a pie from there. You can buy slices and try different ones also! Friendly staff. Clean place. I had the privilege of tasting a small bite of their German chocolate pie. Words cannot describe how delicious this was!! Rich filling that tasted like a mix of fudge chocolate and pecan pie, with a light baked coconut topping. It was the most delicious thing ever!! The pies here are fantastic. The lemon blueberry pie is unbeatable. Who would think a pie place can elevate ordinary pies to the next level. The apple pie is worth every penny. You can buy apple pie almost anywhere but this place makes an apple pie that melts in your mouth. The strawberry rhubarb is amazing. There are too many delicious pies to mention-French silk, banana cream, coconut cream, all are delicious. The fudge is also delicious. The only negative thing about this place is the parking. Park in one of the spot for Babe's chicken and run in get yourself a slice of deliciousness. No one will know. read more

You need to order your pie in advance or plan on being there for the 10:00 am open door. I have had numerous pies from here and each one has been better than the other. That is saying a lot. This is a great place to get your custom made pie for sure. read more

Very delicious pies but the inside is disgusting. Look up at the ceiling if you go. Moldy nightmare. Water spots. Vents just caked on with black. Unfortunately the condition of the interior detracted from the great pies. read more

What a cute nice little pie and fudge place. Everything is made from scratch. And everyone in the shop are so nice to talk to and ready to help in case we have questions. We were visiting the Babes next door for a birthday party recently. Prior to coming, me and my husband both said we would share a slice of pineapple upside down cake, as we both wanted something sweet. However to our dismay, we found out the Roanoke location does not serve dessert. Luckily for us, their was a gleaming hole just next door. I was so happy to see a pie place. Pie is truly one of my favorite desserts, and there really isn't enough places that dedicate themselves just to the art of pie. But here it was, and there we were, gazing at all of our options, and deciding if we really needed more than one slice. I'm used to some pie joints carrying maybe five or so variety's a day, but they had at least fifteen variety's here, even though it was nearing close and also very close to the holiday. They had an excellent mix of fruit to decadent pies and everything in between. I saw a couple reviews stating they ran out of popular pies early, but I saw all the favorites on display, (apple, cherry, pecan etc) I also noticed they had fudge and cookies, but I didn't get myself distracted from the pie, and I also get let down by fudge too often. We picked up four slices- One raspberry rhubarb, one German chocolate, and two blueberry strata. (We we're sharing with others..... don't judge) All the variety's were fantastic, but our favorite was the blueberry strata. It has a great lemony flavor, and a delicious homage whipped cream on top. Their whip cream wasn't too sweet and was the best texture. The girls working were also sweet as the pie they were selling! They helped us choose, and also waited patiently as my husband went back to the car as he forgot his wallet! We don't come to the area too much, but we pass by often. We will consider going a little out of the way to come from time to time! read more

Who would spend hundreds of $ on pies? This guy on pre-orders for Thanksgiving! Their pies are the best pies you will ever have, period! Their crust is unlike anything you have ever had. I often call in and ask for them to hold a slice of Apple Pie so it doesn't sell out during my 20 min drive to the store. They will go from 2 pies to none in about that amount of time on multiple occasions. So many flavors to choose from, pick your favorite. Raspberry Rhubarb, Apple, Pecan, Blueberry, Strawberry Rhubarb, German Chocolate, and so many others! The staff is very well trained, and polite and welcoming. They can make lots of suggestions and get you checked out and on your way quickly. There are a few tables in the store and on the patio with a quick window service if you want to eat it there. If you haven't come here, get here fast and get a slice of the best Apple Pie you will ever have! read more

We love Oak Street Pie Co! We drop by to get a couple of slices fairly regularly. I'm addicted to the coconut meringue and coconut cream pies! My fiancé is a bit more exciting and tries different things. We were just talking about their pies the other day - I asked if he had a favorite and he said everything he has had has been great! The one thing I do not like is that there is one single parking spot behind the shop. All other parking is reserved for Babe's. Babe's never has more than 1 or 2 cars parked back there so they should give a few spots to Oak Street Pie Co! read more

Best pie ever. Worth the drive to Roanoke. My partner and I always make the time to visit Roanoke for some pie. Located next to Babe's, the location on Oak is perfect. There are a couple tables inside for dining. Of the selections, we've had the coconut cream, coconut meringue, cherry, and Mexican chocolate; we've also had lemon bars. Everything has been perfect. The cream pies are nicely creamy, yet light, and both coconut pies were loaded with coconut. I'm not the biggest fan of pie crust, but theirs is delicious, buttery, and flaky, and as a result I actually enjoyed the cherry pie and the crust of the lemon bars. The Mexican chocolate pie was a bit heavy and not my favorite, but still good. Overall, the best. Everything is scratch made and they do the classics justice. We'll be back! read more

Oak St. Pie Co is a little gem of a spot in Roanoke. We've been a few times and each order was awesome. You can order pies by the slice or whole. Here are the pies we've tried: Buttermilk Pecan Chocolate Cream Mexican Hot Chocolate All were extremely good. I personally liked the Pecan the best, but my wife liked the chocolate one's more. Best cherry pie I've ever had in my entire life! Which is saying a lot because I grew up going to my grandmother's farm where fresh baked pies were baked daily with cherries picked from the trees on the farm. We were lucky to get 2 pieces of cherry pie, still warm out of the oven. Goodness gracious! It is an explosion of flavor & deliciousness like you've likely never experienced before - the cherries were perfectly sweet & tart. Update review: I have driven out of my way for cherry pie. These past few times have not been good. I have gone when they just opened and only been given cold pies that are from yesterday. I figure I would get a slice of the pie just made. Then I have come aftet dinner on a Sunday only to find they no longer have cherry pie. So I got the strawberry rubarb already in a syrofoam container. I wanted a bite before the drive home.. It wad cold and hard and the strawberry was a soggy filled sugary blob. I see other pies on the racks so I asked of there were any fruit pies that are recently made and not cold in the display. The girl said No. nothing else. Come on, I worked in a bakery before and know too well that pies are often baked and freeze. But for a pie shop that is busy .. there should be fresh pies made all day. I am tired of getting cold pies since I do not like to microwave my pie and look my crust to not get soggy.
