Ribs were so hard and had no seasoning. Beans out of a can.... Black olives in potato salad???

I have been coming up to the area for over 10 years. I am a Michigan native so I always want to get cider and donuts this time of year and see the autumn leaves to make me feel a little less homesick. In the past I always had a great time here... wonderful bbq, live music, and beer. Today I had to pay $10 to park followed by being told that we needed to pay $15 to get in the area where we could buy the bbq. We asked to talk to someone since we only wanted to get bbq, not do any of the kid activities that are now included in the ticket price. I didn't come to pet animals, get my face painted or throw axes. Charging to enter an area to buy food seems criminal. The WORST part of this story is that the BBQ is not the same as it was in the past. There used to be a man out smoking the meats... you could see the food being grilled. These folks didn't have anything on a grill... no smells and they didn't open until 12:30. I waited and waited and ordered over $60 of food that I ended up throwing away. It was terrible. The ribs and brisket had NO seasoning and was very tough and dry. Please look at these pictures and do not waste your money. This place has become way too commercial. If you don't have children why would you need to pay $15 for an area to do kid events. They are trying to monetize every thing and the quality of what they did right before is suffering. I did try to ask for a manager and a teenager pretended she was in charge. She wasn't helpful and said this is what the owner wants.

They have lost a loyal customer. I have been coming here for over 20 years and coming to Oak Tree mountain has always been a fun stop along the route. The idea that they would charge per person to enter the area where you have to pay for everything is the epitome of stupidity and greed. They literal want to charge for kids to play at the playground essentially. Just go down the street to school house for a free playground. Hope that works out well for you Oak Tree Mountain, we will not be returning.

Sooooo heartbroken. Since I've moved out here 9 years ago and visited this place I fell in love with everything and the ppl all in this mountain. To be able to go up there and get away from the hustle and bustle of the city was always refreshing and a reset for us. And since our grandson's been able to walk we have been taking him here. He says can we go where the big horse is and then when the slide came he said can we go where the slide is. And now when my grown kids come to visit from LA they look forward to coming up here. Well we're had our grandson this weekend and he said he wanted to go where the slide was and take his remote control and play up where the playground is. Heck yeah let's go. We hadn't been in a few months. We were walking up the hill and we seen a gate, at first I thought it was for a private party cuz it was Saturday. Oh oh oh no it wasn't. They are charging now to visit the upper half of the hill. I was shocked at the prices. Are you crazy??? So you have to pay to go to the upper side of the hill and still pay for the stuff inside lol. I stood there thinking this is a joke. We usually go to that part of the hill for the petting zoo ( that has way less animals than they did 6 years ago) and for the playground and enjoy some live music. I was planning to finally try some BBQ but from the reviews I'm glad I didn't. But also just to get something to eat from a place I there you need to pay admission ridiculous. I'm Truly sad that I won't be going up there anymore. It was seriously my calm place, even in the busy season. Also this Saturday while we were there is was pretty empty... I didn't hear and live music ( as a matter of fact, I didn't hear any music at all) I didn't smell any BBQ. And they were still charging ppl to go in. That's like paying to go see a movie and you only get to see the previews for upcoming movies.

Cleanliness 3 Costs (free to park) 3 Cuisine 3 Customer Service 4 We wanted to try this place since we are local. It looked kind of run down. Maybe they fix it up in the spring and summer? Most things seemed closed or broken. The giant slide was kind of fun but it costs about $1 per second if you go once. We will try this place again when everything is open.

My family and I love Oak Tree Mountain for a quick day trip. The parking lot is always crowded, but there are two overfill lots so as long as you aren't too greedy it's not a problem. It's a great place for everyone to get fresh air. There's a cute playground, pretty photo-op places and cute signs everywhere. Kids love doing the axe throw, mining for pretty gems, petting animals and tubing down the big slide. Many restaurants and shops that sell cute knick knacks. Also a wonderful candy shop. There is an area with small farmers market esque shops and the one that sells honey is our favorite. Also a booth to buy apple cider and apple donuts. Absolutely delicious. The place is very gimmicky and you may spend a pretty penny to do all activities, but it's worth it imo.

During our Oak Glen adventure, we stumbled upon this place. AMBIANCE: Parking: Plenty of parking but it can get busy based on special events (Halloween, Apple Butter fest, etc). Feels: It's great! We went during the Apple Butter Festival and during FIFA so there was a mix audience. It was nice seeing the art and designs they had from clothing to decor. The food looked pretty delicious but we were already full from the other local shops. The activities looked pretty fun from the the big slide, axe throwing, and photo ops. Food: I was already full but there are a few good restaurant choices from a brewery to a cafe with everything about apples. Customer Service: Friendly and helpful people helped make this experience enjoyable. TL;DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. This is not Disneyland but it's the local amusement park. A great balance of restaurants, vendors, and activities. If you're looking for something lowkey and out of the city, check this place out. Tips: Check out their website for events.

Not too many shops, stores or vendors open today. From past visits, assuming more will be open soon or as the Spring Season continues. Gorgeous Day though!

This place is great! Great fun, food, staff & service, & ambiance. They had live music & vendors posted up. I got these wood art things for my parents it's great! I also stopped by they're bakery, restaurant (apple Annie's), & candy shop. We forgot to stop by the milkshake & ice cream parlor after having lunch. But food was great, husband and daughter went on the sled slide, played at the play ground a bit. They also got an animal tour thing, with a few peacocks literally just walking around you, they have axe throwing, and there are flyers posted everywhere talking about upcoming activities, events, etc. all around, this place is great just to get up around nature & have a bit of fun!

To know especially that these are rescued animals and are being taken care of so carefully, giving us the privilege of being able to give them our love as well, it was a heartwarming experience. Plenty of free parking available right infront of the sanctuary. There is a cute little shop attached to the sanctuary, where you can buy their handmade truffle chocolates which are so delicious (coming from someone who isn't a fan of truffle chocolates), fresh farm eggs, honey, and other delicacies. With your zoo "ticket" you get 2 free samples of their chocolates and a hefty bag of feed for the animals. The animals are mostly in their own pens, with some together. There's even a couple of the pigs you'll find out of pens, just hanging out on the property, laying beside the building. You're able to go into the tortoise pen and feed/pet him as well, 2 people at a time inside the pen, as he does get anxious. You're not able to feed all of the animals, but for the most part you can. Each pen has a sign for which animals are ok to feed/pet and which are not. They are very calm and friendly, as long as you are too. They take the feed very gently and don't bite your fingers. On the weekends they offer pizza made fresh for the visitors, and have plenty of covered outdoor seating options to enjoy. They also offer wine tasting, but we did not partake, as we had just left a winery, but I'm sure it is quite enjoyable as well. Definitely a must stop if you're in the area and it's a 5 minute drive from the wineries!

I was tempted and seduced with a Banana Truffle, and then I needed more, more, more. We spent more on chocolates than we did touring the animals, and it was worth EVERY penny!!! The animals they have here are all rescues, and many of them have issues, but they have a loving forever home here. With the exception of the Camel and the Bison, we own many of these animals ourselves, but still enjoy interacting with and feeding them. They all were such characters. One of the Alpacas is hysterical, absolutely LOVED him/her, with the goofiest teeth. They all take the treats so nicely and have soft mouths. I got to pet a Zebra (oh yeah, we don't have one of those either). The zebra is so cool and lives in a corral with a Zorse- such a fun experience. I don't care if you already own livestock; this place is a cool spot to stop in, and if nothing else, buy yourself some of the best chocolates you will ever have. When in season, they have Emu eggs available.

Looking forward to riding in 2 weeks . I will update my review afterwards!…read more I had owned 3,horses but that was 3 decades ago! I'm much older now and looking forward to a calm scenic ride. Also: 1. For those complaining about not being able to use their phone on a rental trail ride, it's common sense, if you accidentally drop your phone, it holds up the trail line while the trail guide has to retrieve it for you ( not allowed to get on and off a rental horse)!, it may get broken (and who's fault is that?), stopping to click several photos slows down the timed ride for everyone, and when it falls it may spook the horse. 2. So you want to trot, lope or Gallup? Not on these mountain trails with a horse you aren't familiar , with totally inexperienced riders as well as seasoned riders, and children. Just because YOU think you are an experienced RIDER doesn't matter. These are not your horses. This is a business and safety for all comes first along with protecting the horse's safety. A lame horse cannot be ridden and that is costing vet bills as well as a loss of $65. - I'm a very experienced, seasoned rider.and previous horse owner. Sadly, this was not a positive experience for my family…read more We participated in the one-hour trail ride and, upon returning to the stables, our guide specifically warned riders about the new horses located on the right side of the dismount area. My 12-year-old daughter is an experienced rider and followed the staff's instructions exactly. She waited until she was prompted to enter the designated dismount area, as directed by the staff. Unfortunately, following those instructions placed her directly adjacent to the horses that had been identified as a concern. As she entered the dismount area, one of the horses reached through the fence and bit her on the right thigh. The bite was severe enough that an attendant had to intervene to get the horse to release her. I immediately took my daughter to the restroom to assess the injury and document it with photographs. The bite occurred through her long pants. While I understand that horses are animals and that unpredictable situations can occur, I was disappointed by both the circumstances that led to the incident and the way it was handled afterward. My daughter followed the instructions she was given, yet the responsibility for the incident was ultimately placed on her. Given the prior warning about the horses, it is difficult to understand why riders were still being directed into such close proximity to them. Equally concerning was the lack of follow-up from management. The owner did not speak with us at the time of the incident, did not proactively reach out afterward, and only returned our call after multiple attempts and a more urgent message. Rather than expressing concern or discussing a reasonable resolution, the conversation was argumentative and dismissive. Accidents can happen, and a sincere apology along with an effort to address the situation would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. Between the safety concerns and the poor customer service that followed, I cannot recommend this business to others.
